I had a 2nd gen pencil. Just know if you accidentally leave it uncharged for an extended period of time, then pencil will die and will NOT recharge as it always needs to be charging. I actually like that this has the ability to be charged vs having to buy a whole new pencil 🥲
The Benks pencil has the same features (not sure about hover) as this but it does magnetically charge. It is still cheaper at around $40 usd. I use one for my Mini without any issues.
I’ve never used the Apple Pencil before so I got this one just to try it out. I’m no artist so the lack of pressure sensitivity isn’t a huge deal to me but it sure would be cool to have. For now I’m enjoying it just for making light annotations
I think the wireless charging is a big deal. Especially if you are on the go or just want less clutter in work space. If price is an issue, I'd look for an open box, refurbished, or used 2nd gen one.
I have an asus 2-in-1 laptop and the pen came included with the exact same charging under the cap mechanism. It also has 4096 pressure sensitivity levels but no tilt.
@@SlatePad Not at all. I'm a student so I only use my pen to take notes. That being said, windows pen support (specifically in OneNote, which is what I use) can be unpolished at times and I've had some annoyances with interactions that don't work as expected. Edit: Overall, a windows tablet is a worse tablet, but the experience of having a single device for everything is better imo than having 2 devices.
@@SlatePad I do think they want to invest in it and that they've shown a bit of progress with windows 11. But they are extremely slow to improve. Like how foldable screen laptops are basically having to work around the OS, because Microsoft hasn't even started supporting it.
@amitthehuman They are pulled in many directions, no doubt. I picked up an Asus ROG Ally a few months ago, and now I want them to focus more on a handheld gaming interface 😁
I haven’t had any issues with disconnections with this Pencil edit: I’ll add the disclaimer that my USB-C pencil broke a few months ago, so I’m going off of memory
Relatively active use for note taking, I’d get a least a couple of hours, with no indication it needed charging. More causal/occasional use, I’d go about a week between charges.
@@SlatePad Is the battery life relatively the same to the gen 2, better or worse? I'd be using it for note taking most days of the week. Wireless vs wired charging really doesn't phase me
This is the most useless, offensive, product apple has ever released for average consumers (bullshit stands and earphones aside). No pressure sensitivity means it is literally as good as your finger.
I’d add iPod Socks to the list of of bs products 😆 People have also pointed out there are even cheaper options that do the same thing. I still like it, but I can understand your perspective.

Man, that sucks…..I hope Apple can prevent this from happening with future Pencils
I subbed to you, you deserve so much more! Such a well made video
Thanks for the kind words! One of these days I’ll figure out what I’m doing wrong with this UA-cam stuff 😁
Nice an actual review of the pencil usb-c. To answer your question: it looks great.
I agree 😁
I have the same wallpaper! Nice callback to iPad OG
I love that wallpaper 😁

Innnnnteresting…..I hadn’t heard of this before. I’ll add this to my list of things to check out. Thanks!
I just ordered a Benks pencil …looking forward to trying it out!

Same here. As primarily a note taker, pressure sensitivity has never been a big deal to me.
Same and do you know how to turn it off? I just got it and can’t figure it out
@@unya.28 it seems to just go to sleep on its own and wake up when you go to use it. As for just powering it off yourself I haven’t looked into it lol
Cool video, I just picked myself up one of these 👀
Nice! I just picked up another after I broke mine
I upgraded from the first generation, so I do not miss the 2nd gen. features. Liking it.
It’s nice when the “budget” model of something isn’t severely compromised 🙂
Pretty good pen❤
Have it myself
I’m enjoying it too!
I love that there’s no small pieces
That is nice…I never lost the cap of the pencil 1, but came awfully close a few times …..

Not a bad idea! Plugging in can get very annoying over time
Do you recommend that I charge the pen with the iPad or directly to the power?
I’ve been charging mine plugged into the wall with no issue. But either way should be fine!
Hi! i would like to ask if type C pencil can stick on ipad 10 left side ?
I believe the magnets are only on the right side of the tablet.

Do you find you miss the tilt feature?

@amitthehuman I really love the Surface products, but Microsoft seems to have given up on investing in the tablet use case all together.

do i have to pair the apple pencil, everytime i use it? or is it connected forever(as long as its charged)?
You should only have to pair it once!
The good thing about this is you could charge and use at the same time
That’s a good point….I hope we get that flexibility with the Apple Pencil 3.
@@SlatePad yes let’s hope so
Does this pen always work with Bluetooth?
I haven’t had any issues with disconnections with this Pencil

How long does the battery last?

@BlueJohnXD Battery life feels the same as gen 2.
I unfortunately broke my usb-c pencil a month or so ago.
