I'm suprised you don't have over 100k subs considering how good this series is. I love these videos!
Thank you!
@@Theillestrator1050 Fuck yeah dude I love them because not only do i get to see bad ass motorcycles but I also get to learn something new. I can't wait to get a motorcycle of my own soon! Keep up the work man.
His pacing and speaking pattern is wonderful keep it up!
Salty Mango facts
Yea I dont understand it, I feel like this is a million sub channel easily.
Your history videos are dank man. Keep it up.
Yet another one . Perfect videography. I love these videos. Random bikes u stumble upon
I actually found about the triumph speed 4 last week or so as well. Keep em comin
I always light up when I see another Illestrator video in my feed. Love the presentation style and level of research. Keep up the good work. Love from Denmark.
Utterly forgotten but actually fun to ride the old speed four, love the content my man!
I love your voice-over videos. Definitely my favorite type you publish.
A roommate of mine had one of these. Went like hell, though I was frankly kinda terrified of the thing lmao
just came across this. great show, man! i've had my speed four since 2009 and love it. keep up the good work
Bruh. Your future is bright. I know I've said it before, but your stuff is excellent. Funny, well edited and when I get a notification, I'm stoked that there's badass content coming my way.
Thank you.
Well shit, I'm very much flattered by the kind words. Thanks for tuning in.
As always love your segments! Keep riding!
You already know!
Excellent work mate, keep it up in 2019,sub from OZ !!
You're worthy of way more views mate, these are really entertaining
Great video👍 very informative and very well put together👌 thank you sir👍👍
Thanks for checking it out!
As always, great video brother! Super interesting and well explained.
Great summary video. I bought one of these just over a year ago in roulette green, and watched all the video's you listed here when researching it also. Though I've had a few little issues with it (Stator going/front forks rebuild) for a 2004 bike, it makes a fantastic sound and it never leaves me left behind on group rides. It's a lot of fun for a fair price. I did also check out an older 955i Speed Triple (which sounds awesome) though went for this as a more sensible back-in-to-biking bike and was about 5 years newer. Though I was initially wary of the clip-ons, I've got used to and it was comfy enough on a 1000mile week long summer tour. Only issues are, in summer round town fan comes on quick in start stop traffic, it's certainly happier going everywhere at fair speed. Fuelling at low rev's is something I've got used to, hear it's worse on the TT, but it's not stopped me from going out on the bike and never really felt like an issue. It's not really a commuter/town bike, more weekend toy, for which it fills the role very well. Very much built for tearing down A-roads. I was thinking I would want to sell it for the speed triple, but I would be loath to part with it now. Having one of each seems the only sensible option :)
You are getting way too good at this! Great Video!!!
:3
Had one, loved, sold it and still regret doing so! Good video bro!
Thanks for posting! My bike since I bought it new in 2003. I had my heart set on a Speed Triple, but couldn't afford it at the time. The 17 years I've owned this bike, I think I've seen a total of 4 others in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I'm buying one this week. Test riding it on wednesday. It's daytona yellow, my first bike other than my 125cc yammy. I can't wait! Great video, good to know a bit more about it.
I'd never heard of them either! I went looking for a speed triple a few years back and stumbled upon one of these. I'm like what the heck is this? Went to look at it out of amusement and took it for a spin. *Mind blown.* Goofy looking bike for sure but let me tell you, once you try one, you'll buy one. Such an awesome bike. It's a totally unique experience with a sound incomparable to any other bike. I've had this bike 4 years now and I have to say it's probably been one of the best, most reliable bikes I've ever owned.
Same here, 1 year now. It's amazing.
Thanks for this ... not much on youtube about this bike at all. (I even recognised some of your video clips from the little I've seen on yt.) Great info and history. I'm considering this as my first big bike, though I'm 6'2" so need to try one first....maybe not ideal size wise. Supposedly well made bikes.
One of my fav bikes. I love the snorkel
Never knew about it before until I saw one for sale. I had the same thought you did when I first saw the ad. But after I realized it is called a speed four, I had to buy it. I dont regret it. Handle great.
Good video! I’ve had two of these a 2003 green one and I currently own a 2004 orange one , i love that bike.
You had two of them? Welll then you practically had all of them lol!
I bought one of these in 2003, put about 22k miles on it. Amazing bike, midrange torque puts other 600s supersports to shame. I'd gladly own another one.
I'm assuming they are reliable too?
@@user-rb9oo7tc2x Mine was super reliable. Definitely an overlooked bike that didn't get the credit it deserved.
@@joshdemarco9270 I picked one up about a month ago and I am so in love with this bike. I can't wrap my mind around how spectacular this bike is lol. Its fast and so smooth!
Good shit boss. I was actually trying to buy the TT when I got my yzf 600r thundercat but it was a mix up in the numbers so i called the wrong guy. But I still didn't know it was a 4 banger
The TT is faster and handles better, but I obviously got a soft spot for the YZF
Always a pleasure. Good work!
Thank you
@@Theillestrator1050 No..no Thank YOU!
I've had my Speed Four since 2011 and I can't seem to let myself ever sell it. It's not the best bike in its class on paper but it does very well in the smiles per gallon department. I have a few track day videos on my page on my S4. Love your video.
I just got one a couple days ago
Awesome video mate, never heard of them before but seeing that mad fluorescent colour one, I think I might have seen one parked at my local hospital, I'll have to see if I've got a picture and count those headers lol.
Also 90's bikes were not soft, one tried to break my neck lol, they have been refined and tuned better over the years and therefore much better these days (lighter and generally more power), but 90's bikes are still great if you like the styling/can't afford new or newer.
When I say soft, I mean the ergonomics and suspension of old school sport bikes. They're not as spine bending and stiff as what we have now.
Dude, maximum respect on your podcast..
Really liked the wee buell segment thing you did. Would really like to see more long videos - Short ones good too, great viewing. t. 1992 honda spada
always grate vid
Goat back with another one!
Dude great video. Respect ✊🏼
Great video mate, of a great bike. Thanks.
Haha! Awesome timing man. There was one for sale by me and my buddy bought it this weekend. He is going too fix a few things on it and then use it to show off at ACE cafe bike nights. It's nice but it's also like a weird proto type because like you said, you can see the future elements of the speed and Street triple combined into this bike.
Yeah, I remember when they came out. Never actually saw one in person... only in magazines.
I own one, and love it. It will be a bike in my garage forever.
Went into a Triumph dealership once to get a filter or something, and the parts desk person asked me the model. I said speed four, he said no, must be a speed triple. I said no, we went back and forth and I finally just told him to look and see if it was an option. He was pretty confused when he saw speed four in the list.
This series is great. Interesting to learn about that bike, as a Brit. Street Triples are very popular and widely owned here, I'll have to pay extra attention to them now. Although, the superior sound (compared to triples) of a moving inline 4 will probably give them away.
Not a fan of the triple noise?
@@Theillestrator1050 Depends on the exhaust and how they're ridden, I guess. Seen some Street/Speed Triples and MT09s that sound sick, but many others sound like slightly angry washing machines.
awyeah, class is in session!!!
I had a neighbor in Florida with a 650 Daytona that same color. He only took it out on the most perfect Sundays, at 1st I thought he was just that kind of rider... then I found out he spent most of the week working on it. Always looked great though
And then the 675 came out and absolutely broke the mold when it came to looks.
The sound is that speed four is so amazing I've watched the videos of people riding one just to hear the exhaust sound.
Inline 4s can't be beat for sound
I live in Mexico City where any bike over 250cc is a rarity, but my neighbor has one of these Speed Fours in Silver right next to me, and in pretty good shape to boot. What a unicorn, especially here.
I love these kind of videos you make. Very enjoyable to watch. I know you don’t ride Harley’s, but is there any chance you might do a mini documentary on modern day Harley’s similar to the video you did on Buell?
Definitely. I'd like to take one for a spin because i'd like to be able to say that I know how it feels to ride one first. I know a few harley guys, I gotta ask soon.
Sweet. Your story telling talent is informative and hilarious to listen to at the same time. Keep up the awesome work!
Great vid, most of Triumph's work from 2000 to 2005ish is forgotten about save for the comeback of the Bonneville. Everything before that was the company's triumphant (lol) return and everything after was the era of the 1050, the 675, and the millions of Bonneville variants. If you *really* want a bizzaro modern Triumph to talk about that's obscure, tackle the 1994 to 1996 Triumph Daytona Super III. I used to own one and found myself often giving impromptu seminars at British bike meets explaining to people what it was. It's a real head scratcher of a bike since there was no real reason for the fledgling Hinckley factory to make such a thing.
Hell yeah muh boi! Two of these just came up on Bikesales and sold so quick... Physically too small for me but if I was a bit shorter and a lot thinner I'd have one of them fo' sho
Also a peachy old '92 Trophy 1200, a big inline 4 sport-tourer tuned for big torque at low RPM. Sold within a week of being listed. Triumph's 4-bangers are fuckin sweet machines. Thanks for the vid bro!
My boy has one of the newer trophy's, he offered me a chance to take it for a spin but that shit is huge and way too new, I wasnt about to risk dumping that shit 😭
@@Theillestrator1050 Ah man you should never pass up an opportunity! I passed on riding the very first Carberry Enfield (the custom built v-twin ones) ever made on the 90-mile straight and regretted it ever since. I figured it was $25,000 too much for my level of experience but man, #1 of 28 originals in the world... Should have just gone for it. The experience is more valuable than the potential insurance claim!
Actually went and looked at one of these as a project bike but needed way too much work but I really unique bike
Amazing videos
Awesome video
Thanks!
Yooo! I found out about the tt600 the exact same way and ended up copping one for ~1k. I can confirm the throttle response is terrible down low but it smooths out at higher revs.
I just bought a 2001 tt600 for the same price in Canadian dollars. It just needs a a head gasket that my buddy I bought it off of, said he’d help me install. I also heard of the bad throttle response low down. I see they make aftermarket throttle remappers, for about $350. From what I’ve been hearing, it might be my first upgrade.
I own a triumph speed four bought it last summer for 2300 didn’t know it was so rare found out this year when I brought it to a triumph dealership and they didn’t know wtf it was. Very nice bike very smooth riding tops out at 250km with only 54 made for the Canadian market if you can get your hands on one of these do it you won’t regret it
I used to own an 02 Triumph speed four(orange). Had a two brothers can on it. Best sounding bike I've owned (owned over 15 from 200-1400cc. Dual sport, supersport, bobbers, cruisers, ect.) It's floating around Colorado I'm sure.
I wonder if the one I'm looking at buying is your old bike that would be pretty cool considering I came across this video trying to do some research about a Speed 4 and know nothing about them and was looking to learn more before jumping on this deal
@@damiansullivan8312 they're great bikes. I would equate it a fancier version of an sv650 (Suzuki). Both are super fun for canyons and street riding. But the speed four, especially with the carbon twin brothers exhaust I had on, sounded amazing.
I didn’t know they had a 4 either lol... great vid..
D R O P P I N K N O W L E D G E
Cool video and very cool bike
I’ve owned a speed four for about 2 months now. It’s a great bike.
The sound will give it away
Yup, a shootout in 2002 called the TT the best handling of all the 600's including the Japanese bikes. The Speed Four had the same suspension. The factory brakes were phenomenal. True one finger braking from any speed. The fueling at low revs was not the best. I loved the bike. It was very quick and the factory exhaust had a nice raspy sound. It you decide on it as a project bike I still have the factory rear rack in mint condition.
I do love myself a nice modorsikel.
Lmaoooo
I didn't know i didn't know 😮 i am not joking i didn't that triumph made a speed four good topic
cool video i enjoyed it !!
My first sport bike was a 2003 Triumph Daytona 955i triple. My 2015 Street triple 675 is faster and more comfortable. Crazy how much changes in just a few years.
I assume that you no longer have the Daytona?
@@Theillestrator1050 Sold that 955i a few years ago, my back could not handle the sport riding position. I just traded the 2015 675 Street for a 2018 765 Street, the difference there is really noticeable. Hearing rumors of a 2020 765 Daytona... excited to see that beast!
I've heard things about these bikes, but never actually seen one, they seem really cool since they aren't all that popular and way different from what Triumph is well known to normally produce for the sportbike segment
Learning something myself
L E A R N B I H
BRAVO, WE WANT MORE MOTORCYCLE VIDEOS :)
I didn’t realise they did a speed four, and I only live 4 miles from the factory in the uk 🇬🇧, and I’ve not long sold a speed triple , 1050 ,, learn something new everyday cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
This was my first bike, still have it. I just couldn't bring myself to part with it for a grand. It has been amazingly reliable. Not a good first bike, it's a bit trickier to ride than the big four 600s because of the fueling. But every where I go people think its a new bike because they've never seen one before. And Euro bike bros, on average, tend to take better care of their bikes. So most of them are fairly clean. You can pick them up for a little over a grand, and I suggest you do. It would still be my only bike, but you know: you get, you get fat, you get a cruiser. Rocket III when my back hurts, Speed Four when I wanna pretend I'm still in my twenties.
Yo my dude, how the fuck you not more popular this is some good content. Just subscribe
Lmao, I'm just giving it time
Its funny, I came across a speed 4 today on Craigslist and had to look it up because I had never heard of it before. I knew of the Speed Triple.
I knew about it from a triumph catalogue my father had from when he bought his Thunderbird
thx for the info im looking at buying one an cant find much info about them
HA. Never thought I'd see a video on this bike. It is rare and hardly anyone has ever heard of this. I had been looking into the TT 600 when looking at the old Daytona 900, 1050, 955 a few years ago. Triumph was pumping out a lot of different models in the late 90's early 00's.
Also, waiting on a build blog for the new scoot
I'm figuring out how I want to present it. Builds tend to be a little bit boring so I'm gonna throw sort of a narrative on it I think...
I had an 06 and sold it in 12 with 18k miles because you know, the itch. I still miss it.
We wonna see the project bike u got 👀👀👀
Check my IG 😊
What's your opinion on the new rebel 300 and 500. Do you like the styling, specs etc?
If you like cuisers and you're looking for a starter they are pretty nice and forgiving bike that don't weight too much. Also nice for shorter bikers. But if you're not set for that kind of bike in particular there are many better starter bikes including honda ones.
Oh I love the styling. My favorite thing about it is that you can basically make it a bobber from the factory. I think they did a great job with the remake. The specs are fine because the rebel was always a beginner bike and the 250 I had only had 16 horsepower... Anything is an upgrade over that. It would be cool if they made a middle displacement vtwib version trough.
What up brudda man
Yerrrrrrr
Had One. The best bike I've owned 😁
Personally I feel that early-2000's Triumph Daytona four was so attractive. Very very beautiful design overall. Front design smack of 2002 ZX-6R design, but much more clean.
I had one of these in the neon green color and it was actually a awesome color but other than that you could just tell that the bike had some corners cut during production, the worst part was the throttle, if you let off the throttle abruptly it would try and throw you over the handlebars.
Found one mint LOW miles ,black, exhaust done, runs perfect, titled, for about $2,300..😳😳😳..the fact only 1100 are here makes it even more appealing.
Coworker has one. Probably one of the best ever front fairings
I know about the Speed Four since two years when i was looking for a Speed Triple. But i have never seen it on the road, even when you are searching on the internet its hard to find.
There is a black speed 4 parked in the same place I usually park every day, was pretty damn confused at first at what it was
i love you man keep repping
( BROOKLYN LOVE )
I'm an old triumph speed four myself. Plus Mozart.
Even rarer in the US is the original Speed Triple from 94 through 97. There were 900 and 750 cc triple variants. There was also the mighty Daytona 1200 In-line 4
I own a 2003 triumph speed four has 19000 miles and runs like a champ
Thank you for the ridiculous images of The Donald, along with your normal engaging and informative content.
Ha, we're eyeing the same bike.
If you mean the speed four, I wasn't eyeing it... That example of the bike was wayyyyy too nice for a project lol
Triumph are supplying the engines for the Moto 2 class grand prix machines for the next three years . But that engine will be a 765 triple.
I'm looking forward to seeing that next Daytona
Did you go to film school? This is good.
I remember those
That Speed 4 looks almost exactly like a UK, shed built Street Fighter form around the same time. It's what set Triumph naked bikes apart from the competition, they look like custom jobs rather than factory built. Well until the current batch which, while pretty, has lost their nasty streak looks ways.
I couldn't agree more with everything you said. My favorite speed triple by far is the round eye 1050s
“Boom Cubes” Yes!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I have two daytona 600's one has 60k miles and runs better than my other with 10k. Only ever seen one speed four out in the wild. Speed four/ Daytona 600 is equally as fast as the 675, they just make their power in different ways. Love old triumphs. Stupid cheap to insure and cheap to purchase.
You could talk about the history of anything and I'd listen
:3 :D
Shit the triumph i ever payed attention to is that sexy af daytona
That's my bike!
Yo what about you make your procet bike an honda rebel 250 like your starter bike
I already got the bike, but if I got another rebel, I'd rather get the new one they made. The 500.
@@Theillestrator1050 whar about you spice it up with the New bike to make it an tracer or café racer style but olso have to keep in mind their is an budget
That's actually the plan Lol
@@Theillestrator1050 GOT EM
I should be studying, but Triumph.
