    The 4070 Ti is actually extremely impressive piece of PC tech, its just unfortunate its ruined by a price tag

    With the underwhelming reviews of the RX 7900 XTX & XT, I have to revise my performance estimates. I now think that the 4070 Ti will be pretty much on par with the 7900 XT, which also increases the chance that Nvidia will keep the $899 MSRP. Not a good place for AMD to be in, considering the production cost differences.
    PS: The 4080 is only a 5% bin of AD103, not 10%.

      Looking forward on your take for the 7900XTX ! Do you think AMD lied about the performance numbers?

      They clearly didn’t tell the truth, but I don’t understand why, as it only hurts them.

    Fantastic video mate , i am just so sick of Nvidia bashing on these days with other tech channels with their reviews, it’s bloody childish and these rich UA-camrs pretending to be outraged for plebs like us , just to get views

    hi i recently found your channel and i love your content, although i have a question i want to play games on high fps like beyond 240 fps on 1080p and for that bought i5 13600k but for the gpu i dot know what to buy what you recomend i will highly appreciate your answer

      Released it just a few minutes before the RDNA3 review drop so my estimates would not be influenced by it. And now I feel a little stupid :D

    This was the most comprensive and down to earth video on the topic, thanks! I was about to get a 3090 for about 60% the price of a 4080, but will probably wait for the 4070ti launch... just hoping to not lose a great deal, because that used 3090 is a Asus TUF 😅

    • @vMaxHeadroom
      @vMaxHeadroom Рік тому +1

      In effeciency the 4070TI should be so much better than the 3090 which was a power hog..Just hope Nvidia get some sanity back and lower the price to no more than $599/$699...Well one can only dream...

  • @autarchprinceps
    @autarchprinceps Рік тому +1

    The original Nvidia pricing would put it at 1000€ with 19% VAT, but I hope it goes down to at the very least 900, which would roughly match the 799$ rumors. More down would be better, and the 4080 did get a price cut since the original slides, but it is still running at 1399€ here where I am, so I very much doubt it will be another 100$ below current rumors. At that point the 4070 Ti would be more or less half of the 4080.

  • @TheEVEInspiration

    The 4070Ti must ditch the 12 pin connector and be compact/efficient, else it is not a sellable product.

  • @Wobbothe3rd
    @Wobbothe3rd Рік тому +3

    Lol, the 4070ti completely destroys the 7900XT in performance and value.

    • @HighYield
      @HighYield  Рік тому +2

      Yes, RDNA3 performed well below expectations, even below what AMD wanted to achieve.
      And the 7900 XT has a worse price/perf ratio than the XTX on top...

  • @b130610
    @b130610 Рік тому

    I agree the $800 price point seems most likely. The 4080 might not be selling well, but after seeing 3rd party reviews on the 7900xtx, I don't think amd is going to be putting significant price pressure on nvidia in the near future. In ampere vs rdna2, nvidia seemed to have no problem charging a 10-30% premium for similar performance based on their mindshare and exclusive features, and AMD doesn't seem to be going for aggressive price points so far this generation. Even if the 7900xt is a solid 20% ahead in 4k performance, I think nvidia can charge 800 for the 4070ti, and still look good in comparison. That said, I think there is going to be a bit of a lull in excitement for new GPU's in general. RDNA2 is on fire sale right now with some great deals all across the stack offering great value, but those cards are going to run out soon. I wouldn't be surprised if AMD stops making navi21 entirely in the near future, which will remove the great value high end options we have right now. Both AMD and nvidia are surely strategizing to shape the market to allow these high margin halo products to make sense, and I think people will come to accept it for the most part as ampere and rdna2 stock dry up.

    • @b130610
      @b130610 Рік тому

      @@HighYield yeah, performance certainly seems to be well below the "50 to 70 percent" that was implied in the lineup reveal. Usually AMD is pretty accurate with marketing material, but they really oversold it this time apparently.

    The question is how good will perform at 4K Ray Tracing?
    If 4070Ti is better at 4K Ray Tracing than 7900xtx at 799$ MSRP will be a better choice.

    I wonder if there's a limit to halo models people are willing to pay $5000/6000/7000 in the coming few yrs, considering how crazy nvidia is.

    • @HighYield
      @HighYield  Рік тому

      There sure is. A lot of ppl can spend ~$2000 every two years if gaming is your main hobby and you earn decent money. But $5000 is a huge step up, not many ppl have $5000 just laying around to spend on GPUs.

    6:30 The 4090 is CPU bottlenecked in many games even at 1440p, which is why the 4090 to 4080 comparison looks much closer at that resolution on average vs 4k. Games like Cyberpunk (no RT), Deathloop, Farcry 6, Halo Infinite and Ghostwire Tokyo get (practically) the same FPS between the 4080 and 4090 cards at 1440p. With the 4080 and 4070Ti being less bottlenecked at 1440p, the average FPS performance difference should scale more in line with the paper specs (20% - 30%, depending on shader or memory bandwidth limitations) than the 4080 to 4090 do.

    • @HighYield
      @HighYield  Рік тому

      The thing is, how do you differentiate between a CPU limit and driver overhead? If it's pure CPU limit, "Zen4D" should be able to create a larger gap between these GPUs at lower resolutions. I think that Lovelace just has shader utilization issues at low resolutions. Time will tell, I still stand by my prediction that 4070 Ti and 4080 will be closer at 1440p than at 4K, but tbh thats not a risky prediction.

    • @GTSavvy
      @GTSavvy Рік тому

      @@HighYield Many things can cause bottlenecks - engine limits (engine cannot go below X frametime), CPU cannot consistently push below X frametime (which could caused by driver!), actual system memory could hinder higher level performance (see Spiderman and ddr5). It's definitely not one single thing, and I agree with your overall assesment that 1440p is likely to be closer in performance than 4K (4080FE still appears bottlenecked at 1440p in some games, and the lower memory bandwidth and VRAM size of the 4070Ti might start limiting 4K performance somewhat). I just don't think it will be as pronounced of a difference as it was between the 4080 and 4090, since less games should be hitting an invisible wall and letting the GPU go idle instead of pushing to max.

    i've waited sooooo long for the new gpus. like amny others. I just want to see if the rtx 4070Ti is worth it. bc im not going to play many games in the future, bc there's no exciting games to play. and i dont want to pay a lot, if im not going to play new games. for now, i wait till 4070Ti, see how it is. if its bad, imma buy a rtx 3080 10Gb or a xbox series x and a new 43* (tv) gaming monitor.

      I honestly think the 4070 Ti will be a great 1440p GPU hardware wise, but as all GPUs this generations, the price is going to make or break it.

    600 bucks would be a solid price but we all know its going to be 800, 700 if we are lucky. I play on grabbing either a qd oled ultrawide or one of the new 1440p 240hz 27 inch monitors depending on pricing and reviews, so I think the 4070 ti could be a really nice pair for either, really hoping it ends up being less than the likely 800 dollar price...

    Nvidia got a ton of bad press for being "greedy," but they're actually geniuses who knew exactly what the performance of RDNA3 would be. I'm disgusted that Nvidia didn't take the high road and give gamers a good product at a good price but I'm also disappointed in AMDs inability to compete even when on paper their gpus seem so much better than 4070ti/4080 16gb. Somehow, Nvidia knew exactly what problems AMD were encountering and decided to sell their cut down garbage for the same price as AMDs flagships. In the end, consumers get screwed.
