Back when I played adventure mode, I became a vampire so I wouldn't get tired, and then tries to kill every goblin in the world. I only managed to kill 10% of the goblin population (so like 5,000 to 10,000 goblins) before getting bored
In another save I did manage to kill the demon king by punching them in the throat, but had to savescum a few times, and then intended to raise them front he dead as a necromancer later
They should make it so you don’t have to retire your fortress. Maybe take control of a squad of your own dwarfs or create a new party and have fun in adventure mode while being able to go back to fortress mode at any time would be nice.
I was under the assumption this is how it would work. Now that I know it isn't, this is how it SHOULD work. I really wish that you could just go on a mission in adventure mode.
I’m sure that’s something they’d love to do, but when it was just Tarn and his brother a lot of features were out of scope. And the code is probably all intertwined. I could imagine it being a huge undertaking to retrofit that kind of thing.
at least in old dwarf fort you could switch between fort and adventure mode with DFhack, haven't tried yet on steam but if its not possible atm it likely will be soon
One thing I wish is that adventure mode and fortress mode could be played between each other seamlessly. Like being able to choose one of your military dwarves and go out on an adventure without having to retire the fort, then come back and go right back to the normal fort playstyle. Not sure the possibility or if they ever plan to do that, but I think that could help more people give adventure mode more of a chance. That said, I'm glad it's finally here! I've always loved adventure mode
At least they said they wanted to integrate Legends Mode into Fort and Adventure Mode in some way. Really DF just creates so many awesome stories and characters etc but they are all really tough to be dug up sadly. I guess one of the main goals of the development is actually to be able to enjoy the generated world.
I genuinely can't wait for the content to flow for this, beinf able to leave your mark on this world is part of adventure modes entire draw, but the fact that i can exist in the world is worth while alone.
And he was streaming since the release non stop. I think the devs gave him a copy so he can put out as much Adventure mode stuff as he can for the views. Pretty scummy imo, though I could be wrong. Still it doesn't explain how he made them while he was doing (and still is at the time I'm writing this) a stream. We didn't have the overworld in any footage yet until it came out.

The releasing was for views - monetary gain - pretty antitrust if you wanna get technical about it. I mean its a video game, who cares in the end, but yea I'm lowkey calling it out its pretty scummy. If they chose more creators to do a promotion alongside Blind that would be cool enough, there are a bunch making content already.
@@TurboImperator blind is more than just another UA-camr to kitfox. They seem to have commissioned tutorials from him. Blind is more of a business partner than a UA-camr to them as far as I can tell.
It's a pity to retire the fort to pester some enemies. I'd like to create an adventure save beside the fortress save and like to intrigate for or against my fortress. xD
Always wanted to play advemture mode but it was always kinda incomprehensible, happy it at least loojs clearer now, I have a plan for an adventurer now
I feel that adventure mode is very empty now when it's still in beta and there's not much to do , so I'll have to wait a bit more for them to add stuff
I got banned from the df reddit for using children as wrestling practice by throwing them at the wall. They're actually really good for combat practice since then hitting your armor helps you level and their attacks are too weak to harm you.
Hopefully we will see this feature develop where an adventuring party can join a fort and then split off from the fort to play again in Adventure mode. Right now you could create a new adventurer and enlist an old adventurer but, it would be nice to skip this extra step and use the adventurer you are already attached too.
I like the idea of using adventure mode to make a legendary migrant wave that comes with artifacts and whatever else you bought while forming your party lol.
I made an elf (because I didn't want my adventurer to die of old age), and a weasel-man companion. I went to my old fort and grabbed a full adamantine set and divine armor set I had made previously and equipped both, then I went to another fort where I made a Warhammer and Mace artifacts out of slade. Then I tracked down the giant weasel I bought from the elves once and now migrated to a random hillocks to have him as my mount. Unfortunately, discovering any camp in the world crashes my game, so fast traveling is like playing a game of minesweeper for me atm.
Does this include camps that your adventurer already knew about or just the hidden ones you run into by accident? So far I haven't had any problems with camps.
In Adventure Mode I would like to see a video on how to heal your party after a nasty fight, where there are broken bones and mangled body parts. I guess serious wounds cannot be easily treated and perhaps we have to disband members who cannot fight anymore?
I'm defiantly recruiting a band for my tavern. Basically all of my Dwarves Love to dance and almost zero musicians. Will I need to send away my miserable dwarves to make room?
Hm that are some good ideas, but it sounds more like "Using adventure mode as a tool for fortress mode". I initially thought this video would be more about: What to actually do in adv mode, without the need of a fortress. Something worth doing because you only be able to do in adv mode.

So I can make an adventurer on the same world as my fortress, run around get loot and bring them back to my fortress and they’ll be there when I load up the fortress save? Could I also have them become a citizen
So one issue I had on the steam dwarf fortress is that for me to make another fortress in the same world (without it crashing) I would have to delete almost everything in the world folder. Because I did this, if I went back as an adventurer would the items etc still be there? Or me deleting that stuff deleted everything in the fort
Question about adventure mode: Does it fragemnt the world in square sections? Similar to caves of kud, where you reach a dark border of the current map section before you transition to the next. Or are these transition completely smooth/seamless? I only got to play fortress mode. And there the world has a very hard limit that does not let you explore beyond
I would love to play adventure mode but its horribly too slow. You need to drink every second and eat. Plus you're always full before getting to max hunger and thirst. So your best ennemy are the mechanics.
i've been trying to rescue for #5 but it's proving impossible to find them. not dead on legends either. poor fools. really wish there was a even a cheat way to echo-locate

The last tip strikes me especially funny. I'm quite the opposite and really don't like the fortress mode itself. Years after years of playing Rimworld with a bunch of mods makes me shudder in how few options Dwarf Fortress gives me to make my fortresses aesthetically pleasing. Barely any decorations aside from statues, no possibility to rotate stuff, etc. The game is amazing but the design is way too functional for me. No matter what I do or what fortresses I look at they all look 90% functional and maybe 10% aesthetical. It's a good game, don't get me wrong but I found it super interesting when I heard that it's adventure mode that struggles when compared with fortress mode. I could've sworn it was the opposite.
i think one thing that might go a long way is making swapping between fortress mode and legends/adventure mode less clunky... even just that would be huge and make doing the things you describe far more appetizing to new players, and old ones alike.

Ascii (sorta) works in the steam version but half the menus are half done. Its a beta as hell beta.

Before this video you should make a guide on how to save your fort as a backup before testing adventure mod on it so it won't get corrupted

Currently there is no "healing" its just rest and hope for the best. But healing options are real soon in the pipeline so I'll get those out stat.

Unfortunately, there's really nothing to do in adventure mode except sightsee, fight, and talk to people about random stuff. Most stuff is disabled.

Often I would use fortress mode as a method of outfitting my Elephant men in steel gear.

IDK it doesn't crash for me, and I'm currently playing a third fortress in the same world
you have to retire the old fort or adventurer in the said world to begin a new game not delete any folders

less troublesome than finding them, you could just make a party of legendary metalsmiths and such and bring them over.
