Played a spider man with 5 shields and a spear. Became a legendary fighter after a drawn out fight with an ettin. Then i defeated a bronze colossus with relative ease. Then i tried to talk to some elves and jumped out of a tree and died
If you're interested then I definitely recommend trying adventure mode It's a lot more straightforward! Check out legends mode to see if anything crazy is going on then make some adventurers (try simple builds, strength, agility, endurance, low empathy and get a level of swimming and reading but dont worry too much about character creation). attack animals to get your combat up then go find something weird
Honestly not that bad I got the basics in maybe 2 hours. Granted I have a col-sim background. But there’s plenty of good tutorials like this out there to make things easier
I just realised while playing adv mode...you can talk to horses(and other animals probably)....you give them comppiments and tell them jokes its like they understand...they get positive arritude and confident towards you 😅😅😅😅 Ofc they don't respond with anything.
was playing a goblin, grinded him up to be able to fight the angels in a vault i found just to find out i cant pull levers to open locked doors and by extension not be able to finish the vault dungeon after spending a good couple hours slowly working my way through the powerful monsters -.- guess ill come back to adventure mode in a few months when things are a bit more polished
@@kdeas10 You can walk through locked doors if you're riding a mount, works on my dwarf with my horse atleast. Not sure if it's any different if they got levers though😅
You don't actually need meat in DF; any unit of food is indistinguishable from any other for the purpose of nutrition. Goblins have abysmally poor intuition. If you think Intuition is a dump stat, then you haven't been making good use of the combat system. On the other hand, you never have to worry about a goblin's strength reducing their momentum. Muscle mass gained per unit of Strength is a percentage of the body plan's initial mass, so the Strength they would have to reach before mass offsets velocity gains is higher even than dwarves. The square cubed law is on their side.
Im wondering if people calling the text box 'spam' is a throwback to MUD terminology. There was a time I might have called that roomspam, the output not directly generated by my inputs. Its other entities entering, leaving, acting, its what made them immersive. Powergamers, which we often called numberchasers, would often aggressively filter it, may have been the root of the spam half of the name. Just thinking aloud, word has done a lot of jobs over the years
Am I the only one who think it’s a really dumb feature to have the compass locked behind being a hero? Is there some piece of wacky dwarf fortress lore that explains that compasses are actually heroic items or something?
So, you talk to people for directions on a quest first, through an overly complicated dialogue menu. You can't do shit, and nothing happens. Then you randomly fight a guy for over 10 minutes, and once again, you can't do shit, and nothing happens. WHAT A GAME, BOYS
Do combat preferences still exist in this version? The battle towards the end was dragging out, because your character often kept dodging by themselves before she could strike. In the pre-Steam version, I remember you can set what action your adventurer does automatically when attacking or being attacked, like 'always charging', 'always dodge/parry' or 'standing their ground'.
Thanks for the adventure mode videos. Just wondering if you would ever do a video on wrestling. Having trouble with it and my dwarf usually just strikes
In regards to the conversation at around 13:00. You're Bora Candooma. Not Bora Morninggreys. Same first name, but different last name. Also, Morninggreys is a human bard. You're a goblin recruit.
is square attack like a solid attack? When I played Adventure mode (briefly. Every time I was like "I'm gonna learn this later" and I went back to Fortress mode) I just imagined the shape lol
Thank you soo much for giving us all the explanations.. Can't wait to play Adv. mode Although I must admit. Combat looks incredibly boring, in this instance at least.
When you set a item of clothing to be made, you can specify the cloth and size. In the size menu enter the name of the creature and select it. It's easier to do with work orders, like 20 sets of trousers, shirts and so on for Elves, and 2 sets of Muskox-man clothes. Things like that
I've been trying out adventure mode for the first time and have found it interesting. But one thing I find a little irritating is how often dialogue lines are repeated. I think it would be awesome if there was a Dwarf Fortress like game that used AI chat generation to make conversations feel natural and real.

Dwarf Fortress really is unlike anything else
im fuking invinsibleee
It was inevitable.
"Did you see that guy who jumped from the tree and died? Yeah he was carrying an entire bronze colossus"
remembers me of a roleplay evening: wields his axe *roll* critical miss *roll* hits itself *roll* critical hit *roll* died.... :P
Imagine interrupting someones joke to introduce yourself and then all you say is "praise suicide."
Dwarf Fortress is so overwhelming to me, but I do love watching people play. Really appreciate this.

It's definitely not spam. It is how your fortress learns rumors, and information about the world, and also how your adventure does too.
Edi's Fist bandits attacked Cupaxe. It was truly horrifying.
It was inevitable
It doesn't matter.
It is for the best
It is terrifying.
Miss, miss, block, miss, move away, miss, block and unfortunately, we missed again.

Try walking through the doors anyway. I was in a goblin fortress. Locked doors with levers, but they opened when I tried to walk through

Yeah reasons like this are why I’m waiting until it’s finished to play adv besides just running around as a monster hunter cuz the combat is superb.

The most important lesson of all, knowing when to make your exit thanks!

For now i use DF hack to spawn meat when i kill an animal
Goblin that doesn't do any gobbling, a twisted race indeed. :P
Raided a goblin settlement today and got the book “Doubts On The Struggle”. Odd batch of gobs they were

probably discord
Correct, discord.

Hopefully there will be a way to find it in the form of an item.

Yes. "Square" means straight on, not a glancing blow.

You can have your character make the choices for you if you don't want to keep selecting exactly what to do everytime.
I personnaly love the combat system in aventure mode. It s funny. Znd interesting. But it s my opinion
nah combats pretty fun. His character just wasn't tailored for combat. Put a couple points in a weapon skill and you'll hit a lot more.
Yassssssssssssssssss i've been waiting for this tyty
Is there any lore behind the fact that Goblins don't need to eat?
They are literally demon spawn.
6:57 how do you make gear that is sized for a specific race in fortress mode?

The combat is looking a little rough , i know thats their way , but could still keep the depth and make it quicker and simpler to use ,
What? Blood amaranth will kill you? thats the first ive heard of that!
I started and it was a tiny room with no doors so I just quit
Likely stairs in the center of the room. Move to the middle and click to move up on the right.
