I built a shop in anchorage alaska in the early eighties, and clearing out brush behind another building found a real early dodge pickup... kind of as it was missing a lot so thought little about at first and then another building brought out front end. and part of the bed... so piled it together thinking if I had the rest, might consider so last part was brush and trees for the power to the on coming building and found the rest of this truck... late thirties maybe forty model. I put it in a new pile all hosed off and found I had more than first thought so kinda mocked it up. Left for later consideration, I finished building the shop and was going for the last two, water and septic... a guy comes over and gives me a bid... kinda high since most prep done and then he floors me... do it all for that pile of dodge truck parts... I had taken a liking to it so I said will think on it as I have one other bidder and he must of thought for the truck.... He says: Okay, here's the deal, all done and usable, water and a hydrant for the city... plus five thousand! I tell him I do like the truck and think its rare but I think thats gouging you and fair is fair and he said, I have two others, this one will make two good ones out of the three and parts left over for someone else. So worth every penny! We shook hands and he did an exceptional job for me.

My Grandfather drove a '69 Camper Special with a 383. It was a sort of harvest gold metallic and had a white vinyl roof. I have never seen one since. In the early 2000s I had a Chrysler with a 383 2bbl rebuilt off a Fury, then stored. My Grandfather told me he couldn't stand replacing points & rotors all the time. I actually remember this, as I loved to play with & take them apart.

Great video and great information. I wanna add that Dodge trucks were also assembled in Colombia (south America), here we're assembled D100, D300 D500 D600 and also C series taking the C900 as the representative model of that era. Dodge assembled trucks until 1980. One of the most representative and beloved trucks here was the D600 line, that was powered by Mopar engine 360 and 361 in their V8 gas power and by a Cummins V6 V378 or known here as the 155hp.

When I was in the service during the Vietnam War, I had to get a military driving license. The vehicle I had to test in was a Dodge A-100 pickup truck. I had the worst time trying to get used to it. The tester said it was just my imagination and the A100 drove just like a car. IN HIS DREAMS perhaps. I never drove a car where the steering column was vertical and had no hood out front. I’m so glad dodge doesn’t make it anymore.
