Normally I would be so afraid to kayak out in the open ocean. But that many in a pod is probably the safest you could be. Initially I think it would be scary because they're so big. But this is so amazing. This is the kind of even that changes your life. Thank you for sharing!

Not the big size is scary. The most dangerous to human are small creatures. The big sharks with great teeth kill only about 10-20 men a year, while small snakes and insects kill thousands (and the microorganisms - millions).
Steve Irwin died because of some stingray.

What a privilege to be so close to these amazing creatures

They're sleeping. Dolphins rest one half of their brain at a time so they can still swim and come up for air etc.

So glad you didn't add music and the natural sounds you experienced were there.

Beautiful shots and once in a life time experience. Lucky you. I love the ocean. Its what is underneath that scares the shit out of me.

Ah the wonder of Go Pros!! We get to see what we didn't normally get to see! Wonderful footage underwater of these two female orcas. What a blessing!

I'd be terrified but it seems as though they didn't mind you paddling right along with the pod. Cool experience

They actually don't mind all that much. They're very gentle with and curious about us.

Yeah eh no not all are gentle all are curious but they will seriously injure you

    • @Bluenose352
      @Bluenose352 7 років тому +18

If you show harm to them, of course. So far, I've only found one case of a wild Orca injuring a surfer, in the 70s. The worst the surfer received were stitches. But, they are definitely gentle giants. To humans anyway. Captive Orcas are a different story.

I've got the impression that they are swimming extra slow, so that you have a chance to keep up. :D

I think they're sleeping. Dolphins will continue to swim whilst sleeping because they only rest one half of their brain at a time.

It's amazing these mammals, being at the top of the food chain, can kill anything in the ocean BUT have no interest in harming humans !

At that point he became one of the safest people on the planet. There's never been a single recorded fatality by an Orca on humans in the wild in history.

They were resting / half sleeping (orcas can sleep partially, with half of their brains conscious, and such lazy swimming seemingly aimlessly that is their rest) - and you disturbed them.

Please be aware that marine mammals are protected by law. And the endangered resident orcas have special protection that prohibit people from getting too close. Jumping in a kayak and racing out to intercept a wild pod, chase them or trying to get in the water with them is punishable by fines and jail time (its considered harassment). If they approach you its best to move slowly or remain still.
There are plenty of kayak based whale watching tours that you can join. Also boat whale watching and shore based spots to see the orcas.

Such beautiful mammals, incredible beasts; I love them so much. We need each other ya know. Truly, I think we have a common, if curious bond. Yeah, it’s not just ‘selfish’ us on P Earth. I hope this will be me if one day.

    • @brainmind4070

Because there's no evidence of a God just seeing orcas swimming out in the water. That's kind of like saying "How can someone see this and not believe in unicorns?". I didn't see a unicorn or a God, just a bunch of orcas. If you actually got some supernatural entity out of the contents of this video, you've got an overactive imagination!

It's like they thought that u were one of them as one of there own . Man before I die I want to be exempted in a orca pod just to see what's it's like to live in a orca family compared to a human family that's my dream and I hope it will come true . I just want them to except me as if I was there own specis . I would be there sheprered if any thing harms my family ur going to have to get through me to capture them because I would kill any human being who would want this alsome Creatures from there home . I absolutely hate captivity it's so discussing to see a whale in a pool they belong out there with there family's . Like I belong with them I think of every whale out there I vole to protect u from any harm . No harm will come to u as long as I'm around . Because I have one man that is always with me . That man is Jesus Christ who died for mine and your sins because he loved us so much he died for us nailed on a cross . And he rose again three days later. So with him on my side
