I haven't seen any of those Federal paperboard woodchip hoppers in 15 years! We used to always have a handful of them on NS 349 coming out of Raleigh. I was down in Rockfish this past weekend on the backside of Ft Bragg for weapon qualification, I finally got to see a good chunk of the ACWR, the shops, and a little bit of the Aberdeen and Rockfish as well. I remember years ago when I was a brakeman on the CF line, we took grain trains down to Gulf, NC to interchange with ACWR. I vaguely remember seeing an engine of theirs still in BC Rail colors in Gulf, sitting on the connection waiting to hand off empties back to us. For the past 15 years or so, they have gotten all their grain from CSX. NS created bad blood between ACWR and themselves with that. I remember the last train. It came from Roanoke, sat in Greensboro for about 4 days, ACWR brought 3 nice shiney engines over to Gulf to be in place, then we came back in from Cumnock after interchanging with ATW, expecting to turn and go back out with the grain, and it had been sent to Charlotte. But, a few months ago I caught a grain train out of Roanoke, and the symbol sounded familiar to me. 40J. I asked the conductor what the final destination was and the paperwork said Candoor. We swapped out with a crew in Spencer, that took it on to Charlotte to interchange with ACWR. Hope we see more of them. Great video!

Just subscribed. That shortline has a classy, classy paint scheme. And, clean, classic SD40-2s, at that! That's a great nose herald - that logo.
They must be expecting a bang-up business soon, if they plan to use all those CSX locomotives. We have CSX and Norfolk Southern in Atlanta.
Track looks pretty good, except in the opening sequence at Aberdeen. It appeared there was a crooked knot in the rails. Seems the track and roadbed would have to be in good shape to take the beating big engines like that would put on it.

Nice to see 688 still in the old paint. If I recall correctly the AC6000's were the only ones to have YN2 with "CSX" painted in yellow. Definitely my favorite CSX paint scheme.
And I just learned all of these units are retired. It's a shame but csx still has three AC6000's.

Andrew Lequerique I think it’s more about reliability than being junk, I know CSX used them extensively and seemly had no real issues with them till later hence why they have all been sold off and their engine de-rated, main issues I’ve heard of is basically prime mover related, GE and GM both just extended the engine blocks of their 4,000 hp engines to accommodate more cylinders, obviously that never works out and you get a situation similar to the SD45 of snapping crank and cam shafts
