At some point I suspect you might have an interest in exploring Floor's solo projects which are nothing like Nightwish even though she does somewhat add metal elements (Phantom of the Opera) and covers some Nightwish sings (Slow Love Slow). Should you decide to listen to the singles she's been dropping for her new album, please review them from live performances rather the her music videos since they are so much more organic.
The last minute of Everdream, with the double bass drum and music intensity, is like a runaway steam train with Floor as the conductor and the guys stoking that boiler 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
To hear Marko's ability to sing you have to see the Nightwish Cover of Pink Floyd's Song High Hopes from the "End Of An Era" concert in 2005 in Helsinki.
I concur
Nightwish does not do covers they do tributes. And nightwish doing high hopes is one of the best tributes I've ever seen to Pink Floyd in my 57 years
@@freddieboyce8597 I concur in concurring
Or the "islander" in tampere!
And the phantom of the opera 2005 Helsinki
For more Marko vocals, react to Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd. The song High Hopes from the End of an era show. Man does he shine in that one.
Not to mention Emmpus' two amazing guitar solos
I fully concur. And we have to mention "The Islander" Live at Tampere of course. Marko is just so iconic.
Gabriel recommended that one too. I’ll check it out thanks!
And the drums! Love this drummer!!!
i concur
@@heymargarita9950 Jukka is the heart of Nightwish. But if you really want to see something special?? See this song in Jukkas (the drummer) home: Marko playing Planet Caravan from Black Sabbath for Jukkas baby daughter Lara
Marko is actually a lead vocalist in his own right. Nightwish really knows how to build a song to an epic climax!
They sure do. You always get something amazing!
This lady isn't just can sings. She storytelling, crowd-leading, screams, and growls too. She is a goddess!
Everybody knows Gabriel he is the Nightwish Army General, and messenger. He is great at what he does, promoting interest in the band we all love. Kiitos Gabriel!
He sure is the list he gave me was great! I can’t thank him enough.
Floor has been a revelation for Nightwish. As their third and most accomplished singer she has taken them to another level. At this concert there are 15 songs and all of them written for previous two singers, Tarja (operatic) and Anette (more pop) and Floor sings them all with so much versatility. Only with the band ten months at this concert and so comfortable. That's why the whole band seem so happy.
Thanks for thr great info Clive!
Works both ways, I think: Tuomas's music gave Floor a chance to exercise her full talents, and she gives him an instrument that he didn't have before. I can't imagine being desperate for a replacement vocalist mid-tour, and having this spectacular woman walk in at the last minute. That voice, those looks ... plus the stage presence of Freddie Mercury? No wonder they're smiling!
@@jpdemer5 O yes! She is, as Freddie was! When asked once who she would like to do a duet with, she replied, Freddie Mercury. Some of her movements are a nod to Freddie. It's just so great to see. Greetings from New Zealand :)
@@SuperMoofie There is a fan-made video mix, really good!
Here you have met Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah), a classically trained guitarist, bassist, songwriter and talented vocalist both solo and in harmony!
You may enjoy Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd with High Hopes, live End Of An Era 2005. It's performed just by the guys, with Marko on vocals. He brings a haunting and powerful mood to the song. A version so good, even David Gilmour is a fan!
Makes sense he is classically trained. The man is a beast.
@@bobcieslinski Kinda funny you used that term...Marko plays a custom Warwick double neck with acoustic guitar on the bottom, standard bass on top...nicknamed, "The Beast"!
Marko studied in music school, music high school and pop & jazz conservatoire.
@@ilkkak3065 wow no wonder is is that good.
What really makes Floor one of the best, if not the best, singers out there is her ability to become the lyrics. She's not only sings the songs perfect. She also bring the lyrics emotion to my soul
Yes I can feel that for sure.
Marko>>> HIGH HOPES ( Pink Floyd Tribute) AMAZING!!! Also Listen to The Islander live at Tamprere. Marko does not disappoint!
Jukka is a beast on the drums, miss him and his emotional druming🤘
He is a beast!
Jukka is magnificent drummer!🙃👌🤟
Both Jukka and Kai are great drummers, but I miss Jukka. Kai is a machine, but Jukka was a mad Viking, attacking the music with a ferocity and emotion that is rarely seen.
Marko has since left the band, but he co-wrote some songs as well. He won last seasons Finlands Masked Singer. He has a beautiful double necked . For more just marko ,High hopes, Pink Floyd tribute, TheIslander, While your lips are still red…all live
Also, listen to Ghost love score with Floor . You will find that she can do anything with her voice. She even growls, deep unreal growling.
I finished that one and I am editing now. Expect it soon.
I concur!
"Masked Singer"? Hard to imagine the mask gimmick being effective once he opens his mouth! It's a bit like masking Ray Charles or Nina Simone.
@@jpdemer5 Surprisingly enough no one on the panel guessed him. Half thought he was from Apocalyptica. I recently also talked with another finnish Nightwish fan who watches the show regularily and told me she felt like she knew the voice but couldn't place it.
@@jpdemer5 go have a listen he does Backstreet Boys, Yellow Brick Road…but after hearing Him sing for Nightwish his voice is distinctive.
ua-cam.com/video/9Q5hcbcLBM0/v-deo.html
Just impossibly good. One of the greatest performances in music. If I had a time machine, it would be the first place I'd go.
So nice being part of your NightWish livestream. You are doing great 👍.
Try “Devil and the deep dark ocean “ you are going to love it, great vocals from Marko and Floor. 🫶🤘🇳🇱
Thanks Frank! It was awesome chatting with you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and listen with me. I’ll add that one to the list. Take care!
@@bobcieslinski No problem. I will follow your journey from NightWish and probably later on Floor’s solo stuff, witch I know you’re going to love as well.
And maybe give EPICA a try, another great metal band, Dutch, with Simone doing the vocals.
Nightwish's "How's the heart" needs a double reaction. First the album version, then the live stripped down accoustic version of Planet Rock. Plus you meet the 3rd singer.
Great reaction, I'm glad your following Gabriel's list its a fantastic list for 1st timers
Thanks Robert! Yeah I’m thankful he shared it. He’s a good dude.
She can sing, indeed! Marko is an accomplished vocalist in his own right. He even sings lead on a handful of Nightwish songs.
Wow didn’t know that Kent. Thanks for thr info!
I always loved the duets from Floor and Marko...
Here we go then! Love this band! 🏴
This is an epic song and extremely hard to sing. This is the reason we haven't heard covers but played melodies.
That slow first part is like the car on a roller coaster being pulled up to the top of a hill before the drop.
So true Ryan. That’s a great analogy.
Perfectly described!!
Jukka is just a jaw-droppingly amazing drummer. His fills are gorgeous, surprising and always spot on. Most of his hits all seem to come from behind him. I can imagine his kit trying to get a restraining order after a tour. The thing that amazes me about Nightwish is the immaculate precision of the band, always locked together as one, everything in service to the song.
You summed things up very well. I agree with you on all of it. Lol about the restraining order.
If you like Marko's voice, check out "Phantom of the opera" live with Tarja from end of an era tour. Phenomenal, not to be missed
Have you done "how`s the heart"? If not check it out acoustic at planet rock. Troy on acoustic with Floor on vocals of course, Troy as well.
Haven’t checked it out. I’ll add that to the list.
"I did not realise he could sing" Marko won Finlands Masked Singer TV show... ;)
Wow!
Love the a
American version of thr show.
This concert in Wacken 2013 was on of the best concerts of all time. The DVD from this concert is named Showtime, Storytime.
Marko : Breaths
Bob : "I Love That "
Lol
Hey Bob. It's so nice to know you continue to check out Nightwish. Didn't I promise you that they would surprise you with their musicianship and compositions when I first recommended them to you? All I can say is: expect more surprises! They don't follow rules. It's one of the things that make them stand out.
Thank you for the suggestion! Y oh we’re so right Martine! Now I have a fantastic group to listen to. I just need to get more reactions in so I can expand what I am listening to. Lol
@@bobcieslinski Martine is another example, great person indeed, sharing this great band with the masses.
@@bobcieslinski Plenty of Nightwish songs left to cover with reactions 😁
@@martine3293 can’t wait
@@bobcieslinski Just one more thing. If you're following Gabriel's list, the next song up is 'Song Of Myself'. A fantastic song with a special meaning to the Nightwish community. It was the favourite song of the late Ann Waychoff, a huge Nightwish fan and Gabriel's predecessor. I'm sure the fans will fill you in in the comments when you do a reaction. If you do react, I would suggest you react to a video Gabriel created himself. It contains the Wacken performance of this song, supplemented with the poem which is part of the album version. Of course they can't perform this on stage, but the music and words are absolutely worth a listen. ua-cam.com/video/fJ8XbNCNFWk/v-deo.html
Enjoy your weekend. Greetings from the Netherlands.
You want the best you got the bet. Best live Singer Best live Band.
I’m hoping I get that chance some day.
Thank you Bob Cieslinski, I did like your genuine, professional comments,
there is always smth new, for my ears. Yes, keep doing these Nightwish
reactions, waiting for it. Greets from Finland.
Thank you so much for the kind words Pen!
That is some of the greatest drumming. That i have ever heard.
For more epicness: ‘Ghost River’ 😎
Hi super reaction
Thanks!
There are two kinds of people. The ones who like Nightwish and are fans. The second group is they are becoming to be fans .
I’d have to agree with you for sure. They are amazing.
for a ballad like song (as far as nw has those) i can recommend "dead boys poem"
Marco and Floor harmonise like no other band
Never tire of listening to there masterpieces. Nightwish timing is really really good. Great reaction. Floor & Marco kill it, with the lightening in the background. Empu solos so tasteful!
Gabriel is the Herald of the Nightwish army, when he posts in your comments it means that the army is mobilizing to strike your channel 😁 An amazing analysis my friend. All of those intermingling embellishments that Tuomas puts in his music are the reason that we call him 'The metal Mozart'. It's not that his writing or style is the same, it's because of the sheer complexity of his compositions.
Thanks Duskwind!
The opposing vocal slides in Romanticide still leave me breathless.
Talking about the lights as Floors ripping one out...bloody hell :D
Lol
I prefer Floor in each case due to her performance, not just because of here vocals..she is phantastic, credits to tuomas
She is fantastic!
exceptional is also a great description ? Yep they're great and Floor is ..... grrrrrr .. Enjoy and be a fan ? I am .. Greetings from Amsterdam
Great reaction! I always love to see the moment that Reactors get blown away by Marco’s vocals. Yes, he’s awesome!
Man his voice surprised me David. Wow I hope he sings in more songs that I listen to.
Marco he is good singer too The song while your lips are still red is cool and I wish had an angel or islander, rest calm and more and more
Marco the Bassist has great vocals and Thank you for your professional Analysing, Gabriel is our General of the Nightwish Army.
Thanks Jason for the kind words! Gabriel is an awesome dude! He gave me a fantastic list of songs to listen to. He knows what he is talking about for sure. All of the songs have been epic.
8:25 Jukka "the drumer" is in the hous!!!! 8:31 Jukka starts the engine(double bass drum)
and floor is unstoppable the light show goes on...
i love the drums
Just noticed your upload was 12 hours ago, so this 70 yo Nightwish admirer welcomes you. Pity Marko resigned - these musicians are extraordinary. Treat yourself to the Nightwish Album imaginaerum. It was the masterpiece and features much disparaged Anette Olson. Slow Love in concert is haunting.
Thanks Gary!
For many, Nightwish is the gateway drug to the whole European metal universe... enjoy the ride!!! I am enjoying your analysis and have subscribed to follow the journey.
Thanks for subbing and watching!
Hey Bob!! Great reaction and analysis. Happy to inform you that you haven't even scratch the surface 😂🤣
So jealous of you. There's nothing like discovering their compositions for the first time. Greetings from Nightwish army Greece department 🇬🇷
Thanks Panos! I’m excited to hear more. Pretty cool hearing from Greece!
Nightwish Army Manila Appreciates
Others have probably already mentioned it, but you should try a few songs where Marko is fronting the band. I would suggest "While your lips are still red" live at Wembly, and "The Islander" live at Tampere. You might also check out the studio versions as that was back when Annette was still the lead singer, just for a different vibe.
Though Nightwish is like Gagh. Gagh is always best when served live.
Hey, you should definitely check out Floor Jansen new single official lyrical video Me Without You just released, awesome thanks requesting 🔥😎
Great reaction 🏴
Thanks Richard! This band blows my mind. They are so epic.
A balad? Dead Boys Poem live Buenos Aires...
aka FJBMC (Floor Jansen's Belting Master Class).
Nice Reaction.....yes its Marco and unfortunately hes no longer with Nightwish
Ski....another good one, thank ypu. You enjoyed the Floor / Marco combination. Stay with " Wacken " and you will be a very happy guy. Looking forward to your next reaction ( don't wait so long between posts ). Be well.
Thanks Thomas! Man if I was retired I had a ton of videos out but it’s kinda hard to get more than 2 out while working full time teaching. Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully I can retire soon and get to all of thr music I want to.
The one thing that is often missed and I may be wrong about this, as I am not a musician, but to me Tuomas plays the keyboards often in a very rhythmic fashion, making the strings more rock sounding to contrast with the rest of the orchestration being more stylistically legato sounding.
Yes he is amazing for sure. I think I mentioned in one of their songs and it could be one I didn’t release yet about his playing. He’s a beast.
If you want to know about Emppu’s guitar, watch a Tank reaction!
Missing Marko so much :( (ps: hes no longer with the band) and nice react! Cheers from Brazil!
Thanks Andre!
Marko has been in Finnish metal culture since 1984 with his brother with their band Tarot, and he is in Northern Kings, and some other projects 🤷🏼♂️
Empty Hope is another excellent song by Nightwish. It's not nearly as orchestral as most of their work but Floor demonstrates new vocal techniques, singing the classic metal growling while Marko leads in the chorus.
Thanks Sarah! Can you send a link?
The secret of their consistent sound, apart from their talent and skill, is quite simple: They all play with a click track in their in-ear monitors - not only the drummer, but everyone else, including even Floor.
If you want more of a ballad, try my favorite: Dead boys poem’ of the Buenos Aires concert.
So,.... This song, believe it or not ,at that time, was the hardest song for Floor (vocally).
But ,...THIS IS Floor Jansen Ladies and Gentlemen !!!! And now this song is forever in Nightwish set-list.
Also, Marko really showing off on this one 😁.
NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
Here a fan of yesteryear, I am happy every day to see people who understand music react to nightwish, I can see in their eyes the shine that any fan also has, other bands need more commitment from the receiver to get excited or get into the song, nightwish has such an attractive formula that even at first listen, it feels like something that has been there for centuries and that was composed in an ancestral way so that it does not age, they sound like classics, of course all that epic helps this sensation, but come on that's nightwish and that's why we love it, thanks for your reaction.
Thanks Art pretty insightful comments.
Keep going with the list!
🤩👌💥💯
The hopefulness shines through the song musically is what hits your soft spots in this one.
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Marko is a great singer indeed. In nightwish he shines as well at times.
High Hopes - live - end of an era
The Islander - live - Tampere 2015
Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red - live - Wembley 2015
Endlessness - Album - Human II Nature (there's no live version, as he left nightwish before the tour kicked off)
He played /did sing also in Tarot and made a solo album not long ago.
Stones and The Voice Of My Father are worth checking out too
Thanks Martin!
Good one.
Yes Marko Hietala. All the band is Finnish except Floor who is Dutch. This song is so good I'm surprised Tuomas didn't put it first on the setlist but the opener, 'Dark Chest Of Wonders' is at least 200bpm so you can dance to it lol. 🤣😄😁
Troy Donockley (multi-instrumentalist) is English.
Always great to see people discover Marko's voice 👌 and i love how Emppu humbly drop the guitar off his knee after the beautiful solo 🤟 Tx
Dude - your stop at 6:05!! You can hold it tgere all night long! That is Nightwish and Floor epitomized!
Great reaction there thankyou loved it.
Thanks Kezca!
Another very nice NW reaction. Wow, indeed! I guess next one will be to "Ghost Love Score"? Saw the title in your NW reactions so far, but i.m.h.o. you haven't reacted to Nightwish's definitive GLS yet. That would be Wacken 2013. Cheers! 🤘
Brendon that video is done and getting editing to be released soon. Thanks!

Got my sub! You're a band director...and band makes up some of my fondest memories of jr. high, high school, and some college. Oh, btw, the reaction was great to watch!!! If you're loving this so far, well, the rest of the journey will be an absolute treat.
Hi Jeff! That’s awesome you were in band and have great memories of it. I love teaching band. I’ve taught all levels but my main gif right now is the elementary. We have fun learning music. I’ve been doing it for 32 years and still love it. Take care and thanks for subbing!
Nightwish Army south Brittany France.
Its rumoured that someone told Jukka (i think it was Empuu) that his drum kit made a nasty comment about Jukka's mother, hes been hammering the shit out of his kit ever since.
Hey Paul nice to hear from the French Army. They are incredible. That’s a great story thanks.
oh oh, Marko can more, listen to (of you haven't) their version of Phantom of the Opera (concert End of Era, 2005 with their first vocalist Tarja Turunen),
You should watch epica with sancta terra featuring floor too, the singer of epica and floor are so incredibly cool together to watch and listen to.
If you want to listen some more to Marko he’s gone solo now and has his own band. Hè also was the soloist in some of the Nightwish songs especially before Floor joined.
Thanks Irene!
Boy did Nightwish ever strike gold when they added Floor Jansen during Wacken 2013 and she learned the entire 13 song set in a 48 hour period of time as she was traveling to join the band! ❤ New subscriber btw. 😎
Yes it’s Marko but unfortunately he has left the band because of health issues. ☹️
Thanks Ron! She is amazing and thr whole group is so good. Thanks for subbing!
You enjoyed Floors singing in the opening part. For a complete ballad try Sleeping Sun at Tampere. Tara also sings it. Both versions are beautiful but I prefer Floor's.
Empuu playes his signature EV-1 wich is based off of the ESP Horizon And Marco playes his Warwick Vampyre 4 string bass. Maybe you can tell more about the awesome baselines wich marko adds to the song. He plays them like a metronome so accurate and are very suphisticated.
Dude Marco and Empuu are beasts. Everyone in this band is sooo good. When I am watching and listening there’s so much going on you have to pick and choose what to mention. Otherwise you could be talking for hours about them. That a credit to their gifts as musicians.
Great analysis as always Bob. I sure appreciate that we have similar tastes in music.
Unless a person is a Nightwish fan you don’t hear Marko’s name mentioned when it comes to male rock singers. As you heard he has an incredible voice. In their version of Phantom of the Opera he has some amazing vocals.
Have you heard the most recent MV release by Lovebites? Stand and Deliver is the title and I highly recommend it.
Cheers!
Hi Robin that is cool that we are enjoying the same stuff. I just did the final editing for that song and it will be out next week I believe.
also Markos solo live at Tampere one of my favs since shows NW not a one trick pony
Floor uses her vocals to surf the tidal wave of sound. The group uses click tracks to stay in sync. Watch Phantom of the opera with Tarja their first singer. Marko steals the show with his vocals.
For more Marko, try checking out his band that he and his brother started in the 80s, called Tarot. Marco was the primary singer there for years, until they picked up another singer for the sampler bits and to back up Marko. Their catalogue of songs are well worth checking out.
One of their quieter songs, but still so much energy :-) and yes Marko also sings fantastically. It says something about Nightwish that they can have such a voice as a backup voice.
I know right.
For more epic music you should also check out epica with consign to oblivion live at the zennith in paris
No need to say anything about Floor, she is PERFECT! BUT im glad you specifically mentioned the drummer, Jukka Antero, which is a MASTER!!! He stopped performing for the band some time ago and this, for me at least, was a huuge loss, same with Marko aswell! Jukka is a powerhouse!!!
As oldschool as i am i do love Floor and her amazing singing but im still with Tarja on Everdream... Her voice suits this song much better and with Marco of course, He is a beast! :)
I have listened to both Floor and Tarja and both are amazing vocalists. Nightwish has been lucky to have both women sing for them.
I really don’t get that claim at all.
Okay, sir, you got me, I´m subscribing. 😊
Thank for subbing and watching!
Subscribed for more Nightwish with Floor.
try their "islander" with their last singer. Annette.
If you have taken a liking to this kind of metal, you may want to try some songs by Epica and Within Temptation.
Suggestions for future reaction, check up Sabaton for example Bismark.
Floor is married to the drummer in Sabaton Hannes Van Dahl
Someone told me that I do have to check them out.
You were right, the bass player's name is Marco Hietala. He is a very good vocalist, along with a fantastic bass and guitar player. There are several Nightwish songs where he sings, both with the female singer and on his own. One of the best examples of Marco's singing is when he sings the Phantom's part of Phantom of the Opera with their original singer, Tarja. Other great songs that he sings include "I Want My Tears Back", "The Islander" from their Tampere' concert (where Floor ends up singing background for him) and the homage to Pink Floyd "High Hopes" from their End of an Era concert. Unfortunately, he has now left the band, but the Nightwish faithful hope that someday he will return.
Ever Dream is one of the best examples of Floor's range. When they do the key change at the end of the song and she just moves right on up the scale, really shows off how much control she has on her voice. One of the reasons that I really like this song is the intro with Floor's soft voice and Tuomas' piano playing. We don't get to hear that lovely soft voice of hers very much in Nightwish's music. The music just does not allow for it. But she has done quite a bit of solo work in the past few years where she does not have to belt as hard can really bring that beautiful soft voice forward. I enjoyed your reaction very much.
Thanks for the kind words and thr great info!
