Yep....EPIC ! She hit THE NOTE and you had THE LOOK. Happens every time.
She's the definition of "that's how you do it". She's the One.
you met Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive).
It sure is.
shes not called Queen of the valkyries " for no reason. "sigrun should be her nickname lol.
Definitely true ! I stopped listen mainstream music, cause it really is boring average crap !😆
Nicely spoken❤
What I really love about Floor's version is that she uses her voice in so in many different ways in this song. Especially the ending where she does that long operatic note and then switches to chest voice and belts those last notes out, is so impressive. It's really amazing what she can do with her voice!
She has a reaction video to this song in her channel where she explains what she does vocally and why she uses different vocal styles in different parts of this song, why the ending is sung differently compared to the original version etc... I recommend to watch that video.
Thanks I'll check it out.
This version is much more technically mature than the previous one. When Tarja was the singer I never really noticed how "syncopated" she sang things. Floor and Annette are precise.
@@jovetjlol
This was the 13th song of a 15 song set, when I saw them back in May (almost 10 years later), the energy level was about the same!
Imo floor is one of the very best performer of our time.
I believe the musical structure of the song hasn´t changed since Tarja´s time, but Floor added the last vocal section with that amazing high belt. And she is classically trained, btw.
I figured she had to be with a voice like that. So much skill that took training and time. thanks!
Tarja's version was last played/sung in 2005. This version by Floor is 2013. How about something more recent - I can 100% assure you she has got better and better. As well as many years at the Dutch Rock Achademy and classical training she has never stopped learning more technique. She also started her professional career at 16 with After Forever - one of the earliest & best European symphonic metal bands
@@bobcieslinski Floor's training is actually a bit broader then most. She started with the Rock Academy while she was working in her first band. that was a new program at the time and the Musical theater and Classical people they brought in to help, snatched her and provided extra training. You can really see that training and all the hard work she put and puts in with her ease in switching styles and tambor within phrases.
The musical structure hasn't changed but the choral pieces are lower in the mix here. If you overlay the end of an era version over this they are essentially the same except for Floors delivery and ending chorus line.
@@judedornisch4946 yes you can Jude. Thanks for the info!
The whole Wacken 2013 concert is epic, every single track 🙂
This was my first introduction to Nightwish and the power and beauty of it literally changed my life. I pinch myself everyday! Forever grateful
Floor made the song her own and she changed the ending herself. She even made a video reacting to herself singing this at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish:. ua-cam.com/video/QW_3F186_5Q/v-deo.html Ghost Love Score has become their anthem now and will forever be on their setlist. Everyone in the crowd just waits for that last note since.
Fun fact : Ghost Love Score is actually Floor's favorite song to sing live.
Thanks!
And why wouldn't it be? She kills it every time and she took total ownership of it at Wacken 2013! She completes it!
Welcome back to the Nightwish Army! YOU WERE SO NOT READY FOR THE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!
Her incredible vocals lifts the song to the highest level. Can't be done better.
Thank you for letting me be part of your livestream. I think Floor is so amazing. I consider myself a big NightWish fan. Although many will say I am not because I don’t like Tarja and Annet, sorry but I just don’t like their vocals. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. 🫶🤘🇳🇱
I am an early Nightwish fan from Tarja era and I do like a lot of songs from her time; Once perhaps being one of the greatest albums of her era. Annette sort of got me off the loop, though there are great songs from her time, like Amaranth. Further, Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are, in my opinion, among the best Nightwish albums. Floor has really revitalised Nightwish and I like the band now more than ever!
hey Frank it was awesome having you there today. Yeah everyone should have their own opinion. Everyone hears things differently in the music so having a favorite makes sense. It won't be the same for everyone either because we are all different in the way we are listening and hearing the music.
@@syncacct8576 You sound like me. I was on a hiatus of Nightwish for many years (despite loving the songs on Annette's debut album) but glad I've come back again. :)
I adore this version of the song, it's my absolute favorite.
I feel that Floor has the perfect mix of classical and metal style of singing, she can switch styles and registers so quickly, I love Tarja's voice in many of their old songs, however, her using an operatic style 100% of the time isn't really my thing, I get tired easily while listening to her (sorry, Tarjans!) I love the fact that Floor's voice is so flexible, she can sing pop, metal, ópera, she can sing super super high, and growl really deep, she can do everything! In many languages as well, I might sound totally biased but that's how I feel about the comparison of Tarja and Floor
This is exactly my thoughts too! I love Floor's versatility. I think it's become my favourite thing in a singer, so when I find it I'm incredibly excited.
100 % agree with you. Floor is incomparable.
Nice reaction. The operatic part before Floor puts some grit on it, is a part that Tarja didn't sing, and neither did Anette. I love how Floor puts different voices and different emotions on parts of this song. She really raised the bar on this one.
Anyone else..thinking wait for it... when he was talking about a great note in the end 😂
Thanks Little Raven!
Yes, to be praising a note before ‘the note’, can only mean full Floorgasm still to come.
Yeah, Raven, I always think that when watching a newbie to this song. "How quickly is their head going to explode?" "Is their jaw going to hit the floor (no pun intended - okay, yes it was) or just barely miss?" "Are their eyes going to do the cartoon pop out of their head?" Yeah, we all think it! hahaha
The solo seems simple but adds so much.
The biggest challenge for a group that uses tracks is to meticulously control everyone’s timing and stay in sync with the orchestral and choral tracks. In some respects it’s significantly more difficult than just rocking out live. There’s no place for any sloppiness or margin for error. And to pull it off you need a group of highly motivated and dedicated musicians whose skills are on par with a symphony instrumentalist. And Nightwish is probably the best example out there at pulling this sort of show off. A Nightwish concert has as much in common with legitimate music theater as it does with a rock/metal concert.
It really seems like that. I really appreciate that effort too.
I've seen them twice in both concert halls in the town I live in. They have to be seen live. Floors voice literally leaves you speechless and gives you chills. They also complement each other and really engage with the audience.
I’m hoping they come to my area. I’d like to see them live.
Floor has said that Ghost Love Score is her favorite Nightwish song to sing. She modified the last piece with additional vocals. They started doing this song about seven shows into her tenure and it has been a staple in their setlist ever since.
Hey Bob. Sorry I was late for the premiere. I noticed the glitch 😁 Nothing too bad though. I really enjoyed your reaction.
Seeing Nightwish live is indeed an experience. They are incredibly good and extremely entertaining. I saw them live in New York last May and will see them again 4 times in the coming months.
If you're looking to react to more of their epic compositions where their musicality really shines, you could take a look at 'The Poet And The Pendulum' (Wembley 2015, highly emotional song with a huge backstory), 'Dead Boy's Poem' (Buenos Aires 2018) or 'The Greatest Show On Earth' (Tampere 2015, 24 minute masterpiece). Greetings from the Netherlands.
martyne 's move, reaction s done, pleasure inc!

Hey Martine! No problemo dude. Thanks for being a part of this community. I figured it was better to out it out like that than not at all. I’m just glad I found that section. I’ve got them favorites so I know when they come back for a concert. I’d like to see them live.
@@bobcieslinski I think it will be a while before they return to the US. They're going to record a new album next year, so a new tour will probably not happen before 2024.
By the way, I'm not a dude...🤣
@@jazzaellore9333 😁
I say it every time: This is my absolute favorite performance! Every member is amazingly spot on, but I wish they would’ve had a camera on Jukka the entire time. He is like watching a beautiful ballet on drums/percussion. 🔥
He’s awesome! They all are.
The way you edged up to that Floorgasm note though...🤣
LOL
One of the greatest bands of all time, extremely underrated tbh. They should be known by all!
Wait till you meet Troy the 6th member of the band .He plays a multitude of instruments mostly pipes . Try I want my tears back! More Nightwish plz.
I Want My Tears Back in Buenos Aires - E.P.I.C.
More on the way for sure Michelle.
Troy is the "secret weapon" of Nightwish. He plays 18 instruments (that was the last number I have read about, may be more today), has a beautiful folk voice and even succeeded in replacing Marco for some songs (not for all, for some of them you need Marco's strong prominent rock voice, here Floor jumped in and sang "for two persons"). And he is such a kind, affectionate and humorous person.
Floor knew this song for a while, she added her own twists to make it more emotional,
in a sound check, the rest of the band loved it.
"Tarr-yah" walked off stage before it finished, Floor does her own ending, musical history made.
"Yooka" was incredible on the drums, you can see him swaying around.
Floor adds "percussive" vocals, along with Crewish on the flames!
Love the way Floor gives Jukka the limelight at the end.
Thanks for the pronunciation help!
this band makes music pieces and some of the most soulful and atmospheric and the layers
I love this band Matt. They are incredible musicians. All of them.
Jukkas time ended to soon. He was a beast on the drum, Kai really was the best replacement for Jukka.
"Storytime", this concert. Jukka has a "solo", and he kills it. I have watched many reactors and almost NONE of them even mentions his ability. It is amazing to watch and listen to, and no, I am not a drummer.
Jukka still works behind the scenes with Nightwish. Kai was his tech so, yes, he knows the material better than most! and how the band works!
Jukka was an absolute beast. Best drummer to watch, ever. He put so much into every body movement. I've never had that kind reaction to watching a _drummer_ before. He's missed!
For me she’s absolutely the best❣️
The whole band is so good!
@@bobcieslinski yes they are all so talented and professional.
If you drop this in a timeline on top of the version you did with Tarja, they match exactly due to the fact they’re played to the same orchestral backing track. There is a difference in how they’re mixed (the choir isn’t as evident in this version), obviously each band member has evolved in the interim but the biggest difference is what Floor brings to it (as others here have mentioned).
And your surprise at their accuracy is explained that the are all listening to a aclick track on their in-ears. The ochestral and choir tracks are the same on the different singer versions.
Thanks Makes sense.
Thanks Stephen!
Floor worked quite hard on this epic song to bring something more to it. That was hard since Tarja had done such a great job. Honestly I don't think Floor touches Tarja on the original arrangement Nemo or Phantom, so had to approach both with simpler acoustics.
But her GLS...
This whole concert is magical! And yes, Jukka rules!
Yeah!!! More nightwish please... Greettings from México 😎🤘🇲🇽
Thanks for the review. Listened to many reviews of this song and it never gets boring.
Hope you are well. Take care and much love from Floor’s country. The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Floor is so good!! She makes each song her own. And you're right the band and drummer are so tight! The whole Wacken 2013 concert is totally epic.
Good job , Yes the song has evolved over the years Floor did add the last part . she did it while they were practicing and the guys loved it so they started it and its revived the song and now it and the song Storytime are played at every show
Thanks!
Great reaction! Enjoyed it!
6/8 6/8 5/8 6/8 then 4/4 4/4 3/4 4/4 throw in 15 key changes Floor just rolling on and then "the note" G#5 i believe.
This is definitely my favorite of the two versions. Thank you for giving this one a review too. I love your educational insight too.
Thanks Charlene!
Hello Bob. Thank you for the great reaction. It is very great to see someone who puts some attention to the drummer and give credit to. I will be watching you.
Thanks AsgardSteel. I love the name!
It's like a 2 hour movie score!
For sure. It’s epic.
Very good reaction. You understand Nightwish 🤘
Bob...you have my like, and I subscribed to your Channel! I am 65 years young...and I grew up listening to the bands that are now legends in the world of rock and roll! I still listen to all of my favorites from the early 1960's until today's music. I can honestly say, just my opinion, Nightwish is the best group I have ever heard! All the things you talked about how in-sync they are, and how connected they are to their audience. There were 82,000 at the Wacken Festival that night...they were all participating... singing along, chanting..etc!
Lots of other Nightwish songs to react to...you're going to have a great time!!
ThabksnLarry for thr kind words and for subbing! I can’t wait to hear more.
FLOOR IS SO MUCH BETTER.
If you like behind the scene info. Watch Floor reaction to Floors ghost love score. It's on her UA-cam channel.
Thanks Damon!
IMHO Floor gives more layers and styles to the song. Good reaction!
Yesyes, this is one of the most epic live performances EVER. Greetings from Finland! 😎👍
Hi Pekka! It was fantastic.
As much as people talk about Jukka's drum work in this song, it is not enough. He swings with power and it shows. It is such a bummer that he can't play with them anymore. Dude is one of my favorite drummers period.
He’s a beast on the drums. Wow!
Every time I hear her, I get FLOORED. DAMN she's good! Old Nightwish fans always says Tarja is the best. I also thought so when they changed singer back then. But.. Tarja didn't floor me in the same way, she's not in the same league technically. Oh man. Goose bumps.
She has a magnificent voice!
There are 15 songs on this set list. None were written for Floor. She did her with a vengeance and made them hers.
This song is #13!
If you want Floor displaying emotion try Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley 2016 it is a real rollercoaster of a song.
Thanks!
Incredible and magnificent!
Best-in-class musicianship + Vocal Goddess
This show is just epic! And it is insane when you think that at that time of the show, Floor has been in the band for only 10 months, while she looks like so natural on the stage with the other members, and I may be wrong but she wasn't officially the lead singer at the time.
Wow that is insane. She looks so comfortable likes she had been with them for years.
Most people start with this one. Really looking forward to this.
You are the first to talk about the drummer in this song, think best live performance!!

Excellent reaction and analysis. Tuomas tweaks the composition to fit the abilities and styles of the specific vocalist. One thing to notice is the ending operatic flourish. Floor tried it in rehearsal and the rest of the band said, "Do it."

There are major differences between Floor and Tarja, and yes, they both are immensely talented, but for me, the biggest difference is seen at the end of the song. Floor immediately points to Jukka, recognizing his amazing contributions to this masterpiece. I alway felt Tarja wanted to be the center of the attention, yet Floor seems to defer to the other geniuses around her.. They are a tighter band, they share and enjoy each other as they play, and none of them fight for the spotlight, yet they each share a portion of it. This chemistry is so attractive, so enjoyable, and I saw it from the very beginning of Floor's tenure with the band. She owns this song, in my book, and I just can't watch the previous version without feeling it is a puzzle with missing pieces. At this point, in concerts, Emppu comes over to "touch fingers" (like ET) with Floor after she "hits the note" that Tarja never sang. EPIC!
I think that is a great thing for musicians to recognize each others talents. Good for her.
Can there be anyone left who has not reacted to GLS. Tuomas himself thought Creek Mary’s Blood and GLS were the ‘epics’ from the album. Tarja’s renditions quite properly fit that description. BUT! BUT, BUT, Floor’s Wacken GLS just takes this to another level. Floor, at this concert , had just been formally admitted as a full member of the band. The whole band were on fire ‘ this is now Nightwish for ever more’. Floor, without being big headed about it ( see her acknowledgement of Jukka and the band at the end) simply let it be known that she now owned the Nightwish song book.
It was pretty cool that she acknowledged him Brian. She’s a class act.
More Nightwish with Floor Jansen, please! \m/
You would love her singing Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort on the show Beste Zangers. Henk was the Phantom in the Dutch version. Talk about epic...
From one Green Eyes guy to another...
This the version of GLS where the brilliance of Tuomas' composing really shines. And Floor Jansen is the reason why more and more reactors, musicians, music fans, song writers, bands, and people all over the world wakes up and realize that they all have missed out of something big.
EDIT:
Amazing reaction. You, Bob, know your music.
Welcome to the biggest rabbit hole there is.
And yes. Floor Jansen is classically trained. And she uses her training in every style she sings with and without Nightwish. And she Growls like a Death Metal Vocalist tooo.. And everything between. We're lucky to be alive in the same era as her. She's the best female singer alive at this time. Period.
Greens eyes is the way to go. I’m glad I passed them along to my daughter too. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
Standing solid as a World Pillar around which the planet revolves, Floor hits "The Note," the crowd loses their shit,
the band tears a hole in the fabric of Space-Time, and 82,000 people will never, ever be the same again.
She studied.. with Simone Simons... from Epica, Unleashed live is one of my favourites
Irish! I said it so many times! Spot on!
You blew the landing man.
Hi Bob.
I really enjoy your videos.
Great that you commented so positive about the guitar solo, it wasn't shredding and fast, but you recognized the emotion put into it.
This made me think that you really should react to Ayreon. Preferably the song "The Day That The World Breaks Down".
Even though I'm not a patreon, I highly recommend you to do so. I'm sure you'll be amazed.
Have a nice day.
the drummer for nightwish kinda reminds me of the drummer for the brazilian death metal band crypta
Floor knows how to control a crowd like no other
Your question of how different it is, well there is a whole video where floor talks about the evolution of just ghost love score. Short version, she was brought in to finish the tour, had to learn the set list in 48 hrs. Another video just on that. But she did so well they hired her . The difference in how the songs are performed kinda went like this. Floor : Thomas what u think if I try.... Thomas: sure. Floor : but what if I try.... Thomas: sure, let's see how it works. He backed her experiments with the songs. Wakken was definitely different than earlier recorded version of g.l.s. , before the interlude she was more reserved. At wakken she engaged the crowd in the hey, hey chant. Showing how more comfortable she was in nightwish . And Impu's pranks back and forth with her show how much they all bonded.
Thanks for the great info Chris!
And now you know "The Note" !!!!
Floor Jansen is a lyrical soprano, with a range of more than 5 octaves (Eb2 to F5) so far...
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. And She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
The Spell is now Cast !!!

16:49 The Floorgasm brings yet another convert to the family !! 😁 Welcome Brother. You’re one of us now. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. Wow that was young. Thanks.
It’s great you note how incredibly tight, sharp this band is with their timing with each other - they don’t have to be “perfect” but they are! 😅
They sure are Donna. I could listen to them all day.
Floor definitely went to school for music. Then became a music teacher. She's a vocal coach, so she's an expert at singing.

In 1 note, Floor commanded the hearts of 82 thousand fans and made them hers
A musician you should react to next should be Guilhem Desq - Cicatrics - Hurdy Gurdy (this is the live version) then the soundtrack version has a slightly different sound, so if you want to react to both of them to hear the difference. then react to Cowboys from Hell, Omen, Visions, Break Your Crank, Le chateau abandonne, La libellule et le baobab, A l'Abordage, Le chateau magique, and Jusqu'en haut de la montagne. All of these songs have such different sounds and tones to them I think you will really enjoy his music.
I’m a simple man. I see a Ghost Love Score reaction video and I click.
Keep going down the Nightwish rabbit hole. You will never be disappointed. Another tight metal band you may also like is Epica, a Dutch symphonic metal band fronted by Simone Simons - another goddess. In fact, Simone and Floor are long time friends, and both have been classically trained. In the Epica Retrospect concert Floor duets with Simone in several songs: Sancta Terra and Stabat Mater Dolorosa. For Epica, I would start with Sancta Terra, then look at Design Your Universe from the same Retrospect concert.
As for other NW songs, Gabriel's list will serve you well, but I am partial to Song of Myself. Also, if you are a Pink Floyd fan don't forget to try an older performance of them doing High Hopes which was their tribute to PF. It was done during the last concert Tarja was with them. It was very emotional for them, and the emotion is palpable in their performance.
LOL, Dude... you need to stick a battery in your clock.... Great reaction btw, thanks for making it.
Tip next, Storytime, from the same concert, listen and shiver to the voice of the Valkyrie Goddess...
LOl yeah it needs it but its mainly for decoration. Here is that video man.ua-cam.com/video/TNaRGoCCUNA/v-deo.html

Greetings from Nightwish Army, Palm Springs, CA! Here to assist you learning the names of the entire band of top tier musicians: 1st singer is Tarja (pron: Tar-Yuh), til 2005. Anette Olzen, 2007-2012, then came Floor Jansen. Keyboardist and composer Tuomas Holopainen (pron: TOO-oh-Moss), guitar slayer, Emppu Vourinen (pron: EMM-Poo), the ultimate rock star, Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah), is a classically trained guitarist, *bassist, songwriter and fantastic vocalist both solo and in harmony (you will hear more from him to come!). He left the band in 2021 and was replaced by Jukka Koskinen (pron: YOO-KAH). And on drums here, is Jukka Nevalainen, (pron: YOO-KAH) until 2015 when he was replaced by his mentor, Kai Hahto. And there is a 6th member, not seen in every song until 2021, when Marko left and he took on all of the harmonies and backing vocals...multi-instrumentalist, Troy Donockley.
Thanks Amy!
Not just entertaining to listen and watch but they have fun, as a family, doing it! Metal IS family! All the links between bands - Floor and Simone (Epica) being friends and having the same vocal coaches (Amanda Sommerville was one - married to After Forever's Sander Gommans!), Simone married to the keyboard player, Oliver Palotai, from Kamelot (Epica took their name from a Kamelot album), Mark Jansen in bands with Floor and then founding Epica, Alyssa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy and Elize Ryd (of Amaranthe) performed with Nightwish in Denver because they were touring with Kamelot when Anette (Nightwish singer#2) went to hospital..... but wait! There's more!.... to be continued!......
React to Neo Obliviscaris - And Plague flowers the kalaidoscope🙌🏼
When you say timing, i say '7 days of the wolves' from Wembley.
just watched you start, and after you stated how much you loved the first version you heard, will you hate this version or will we have to pick you up off the floor? Well, let me get back to it and see. (By the way, I consider this specific performance (and I'm not really a Nightwish fan - Floor fan for sure) to one of the finest video performances I've ever seen, though I do also love Ever Dream from this concert. Well, you love it too much at the end, pulling out of your Foorgasm which you love - a coitus interruptus so to speak before getting to the final climax. Well done!
Thanks Bert she’s a keeper for sure man. Wow!
There is only one and she is FLOOR!!!!!!!
Yes is slightly different (especially considering the ending), but the song is pretty much the same. I love how tarja begins (lower chest powerful voice) and I love how Floor wraps it up.
They both are amazing singers!
Notice Floor acknowledges Jukka at the end there!
Yes I did. She’s a class act for that.
