Listen to a review by Jason Jay V of this version, he's convinced her guitar is shrill and harsh and whistles in his cans. He needs new ones then. If things were 1000% perfect some people will say something is wrong. After 55 years in music I know even the greats get slated! Miss Jordan, the world's best kept secret.
This is my favorite one of my favorite the register she doesn’t do a cover she young covers it she’s 16 years of 15 years out here 50 years old and she starts at the bridge and her voice is immaculate. She’s my favorite singer of all time records of rage I’m 77 I’ve been watching since she was one and a half and a jazz
We all love Angelina, such a really special human being. Has an amazing voice. I am 76 year old gran and she helps fill lonely days with joy. You love jazz as do I suggest you listen to My Funny Valentine at 16 years old.
Great reaction. It's fun watching someone new discover Angelina. I'm watching your reactions of her in order. In this video, I love the nod to Priscilla Presley with the hairdo :)
Rob Christie Playing Piano: That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.
From the very first note, she grabs you and doesn't let go until she's done. Angelina is undeniably a musical genius and the most compelling artist I know of. She's been captivating me since she was 7. Her entire career has been mind boggling and she's only 16 with 9 years experience. You can get lost exploring her but it's time well spent. 😎
The Pianist Rob Christie ( music studio Manager by Republic Records) changed the musical arrangement and Angelina the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyric structure, starting with the bridge and giving the song a different meaning. Once again many people don't hear and understand the song until when Angelina tells the story. 💯 *AJ* 💯👣
What impresses me about Angelina's interpretation is that it better illuminates the back story of the original writer, Mark James, and the love triangle that created "suspicious minds". Mark James' recording sounds a bit like Elvis' rendition, but it was Elvis who put the emotional energy into his version. Like Elvis, Angelina puts emotional energy into almost every word of the lyrics, and by slowing the pace of the song, the listener can easily share those emotions and lyrical content. Bravo, Angelina!
Rob Christie, of Republic Records, is the pianist and, I believe, writer of this beautiful piano arrangement for Angelina's version of Suspicious Minds. He is a very sensitive pianist and they couldn't be better matched with each other. Thanks for your reaction. I sure enjoyed it.
Hits you like a ton of bricks doesn't it when she opens her mouth and hits you with that power and pure velvet perfection? Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOUTube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻
@@bobcieslinski I am not a popular Angelinaphile. I have been following and lauding her abilities since a lonely, painful middle of the night in Noveber 2017. Three nights earlier same time of night, same type of pain, I found an incomparable singer from Kazakhstan. It was a 10 year old named Daneliya Tuleshova. She was tearing apart the song, 'Stone Cold' for her blind audition on The Voice Kids Ukraine 2017. The whole audition went 10:30 long, but first they chopped the audition in half and it went viral. It has now been viewed over 80 million times. But it is the second half where she is asked to sing an encore which turned out to be a Ukrainian song that she learned to sing Ukrainian for this show as her alternate song. Anyway that's why the judges react to her singing that song the way she did. She is a special voice much like and different from Angelina. Same native talent, insane work ethic, always delivers, humble and kind and generous. Here's the link it comes with English subtitles. ua-cam.com/video/jGUqIU6u8Ew/v-deo.html Daneliya at 10 'Stone Cold' and 'Try May'.
Angelina is the GOAT x 2. In my 70 years i have never heard anyone like her. Best either male or female and an absolutely beautiful human being to boot.
Thank you Bob, I really enjoyed your take on Angelina and hope you find the time to visit her in her youth when the talent became apparent. She is not only gifted by God, He included in his package an extraordinary family tree of support and love...which is what Angelina is all about. You will enjoy the rabbit hole if you take the plunge. There are a multitude of us Angel fans out there waiting for your reactions to all of her interpretations of both old and new standards, some 200+. Your ear and your soul will thank you too.
In many of Angelina's covers, she will pay tribute to the artists of the songs she covers. In this one, she is extending homage to Elvis. She also does her arrangements or, at least, has very much input into the way her music is done. In this case, she departed from Elvis by slowing the tune down and singing it in a way the lyrics actually ask for. Elvis covered it like the original, a virtual pop "dance" tune, although the lyrics are a sad, emotional and heartbreaking tale of an impending breakup and lost love. Angelina sings the song as it should be performed. This was Elvis's last number one song. In this video she is dressed as Elvis was in his " '68 Comeback Special" TV program. Leather from top to bottom. Her hair is done up in a "bee hive" style that Elvis liked his wife Pricilla to wear. The red guitar is a contemporary Hagstrom reproduction of a 1967 Viking II. Elvis had borrowed it from Al Casey, one of the session musicians of the Comeback Special band. The original guitar recently sold at auction for over $660,000. The piano and mic are like the ones in the Sun studio in Memphis, where Elvis started his recording career. The piano player is Rob Christie, a top studio exec at her label, Republic Records. He is dressed in the same garb as the '68 Special bandmembers were in that broadcast. The young girl(s), Angelina's relatives, are a nod to Elvis's and Pricilla's kid, Lisa Marie, may God love her soul. The last segment of the children shows Angelina's sister, Juliette, as a 9 year old Lisa Marie. That was how old Lisa was when her dad died. Many reactors guess that the children in this video denotes Angelina growing up, but all the symbolisms is about Elvis and not Angelina. There is a short segment of Angelina reposing on a couch. She is wearing what look like mismatched shoes. One is blue suede, yes? Many of the antique shop artifacts, particularly the old red fabric chair in the background seem "fit for a king". The artistic production may have been by her executive producer and grandmom, Mery Zamani. Mery is a well known artist from Iran who had her hand in other Angelina artwork, including the outfit Angelina wore on "AGT the Champions" show, and the artwork on Angelina's first original Republic video "Million Miles - lyrics version". With a little help from her friends (and family), Angelina is leaving a profound legacy in the world of music and art. She is "ASTAR", literally and figuratively.
Hi there - oh my Lord did you hear that Power and richeness and that bluesy undertone when she streches the lines - she is right now the greatest of All time already period - i just wished to be 40 years younger about 6.3 feet tall handsome and go into the same school she goes - the guy or girl she will end up is so damn lucky.... but he has to be behaving himself because Angelina has millions of dads and granddads who will have their eyes on him or her and will cross oceans to enforce that behavier - cheers from one of that granddads from Germany
Mark James cover actually..and therefore closer to the original and more in sync with the angst of the lyrics..Dont you just love how she gives the song time to breath? She’s such a gigantic talent )) Pianist is Rob Christie, Studio Director, Republic Records L.A., three time Grammy Award winner and mentor to Angelina (though in an interview he stated she was mentoring him!) can I just say I really love your approach to reacting..excellent observations and lovely laid back style. Thx 🙏
Awesome reaction and you have just entered a Wonderful World of Music! Be prepared to have your mind blown 170 more times, from age 6 to present age 16. Enjoy the journey it's unique and Awesome, God Bless!
Just had to add that there is an elegance in her performances. Her choices are tasteful, never too much so many performers lauded today often over egg the pudding. Runs so extravagant the emotional meaning and intensity of the song is lost. The only fault I can find with this, its so short you have to listen to it at least 3 times. Then I watch the reactors because I want to see them discover perfection.
Love your comment and agree hundred percent... Now one comes to my mind " My funny Valentine" . She did it twice , age 10 or 11 and this year age 16 . It could be subject to a nice reaction in bringing them side by side , and see the evolution.
Not "was 16" -- she IS 16. This was produced just a few months ago this past summer. On AGT, with Bohemian Rhapsody, she was 13. In a gorgeous female way, she definitely patterns the 1968 Comeback Special "Elvis look" , along with the Priscilla Presley hair. Rob Christie at the piano is a 2-time Grammy winner and one of the producers at Republic Records with whom Angelina is signed. He has become sort of a mentor to her and you will see him in some other videos with her since 2020.
I love how Angelina changed the song. Again, when she sings a song, the lyrics come out strong and clear and her musical choices lift them further. AJ is a multi-telented genious and she's also has that humbleness and shows empathy. I think she is pretty unique.
Pianist is Grammy winner Rob Christie, Director of Republic Records' LA Studio. They say he is Angelina's mentor, but Rob would probably say it's the other way around. This video is Perfection in every way---setting, direction, actors, piano, reverb, and of course, her Incredible vocal. It's my all time favorite Angelina performance. Hits you right in the mouth with the first note. Absolutely STUNNING!! She posted her cover of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html about a month after this one. Same setting but in black and white. It's the best cover of this classic song I have ever heard, and I put it on the same level as the original, and I've never said that about any other cover of this song. Pure PERFECTION!! Love your Angelina reactions, Bob. Looking forward to more. 😊😊
What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. She has written a number of songs.
She's all grown, voice matured. She knows and understands music and how to get your attention. She actually uses vocal fry several times towards the end of words. She has spent many yrs mastering her craft and I'm so stoked to have witnessed all of it. Great reaction Bob.
What a great and sincere reaction Bob....we all know who this young lady is already and so wonderful to see someone like you that also appreciates the vocal skills of the teenage young lady. Realistically, 75% of the reactors to Angelina are simply looking for "clicks" on their channels and do not offer much substance. They react to a boat load of "singers" and few really appreciate a true Artist with this magnificent vocal instrument that Angelina possesses. Cheers, and Stay well.
Angelina the goddess of music and voice is the new level in the musicworld. I know nobody they can sing like angelina, the ton, soul, love, control so brilliant, also rob christie on the piano and of sure the video with her family. 👑♥️🌹🌟 i like your great reaction to angelinas unbelievebel video performance 🙏
This is such a good arrangement, Rob Christi on the piano and Angelina with those rich velvety vocals, a winning combination. Rob has been on a number of her videos and also during her online concert last Christmas. The momentum is growing, leading up to her proper launch by Republic records that we hope will be next summer. Already Angelina has such a hugh catalogue of performances, more than most artists have in their whole life, and she has only just begun!
As a band director, you need to listen to her with the Norwegian National concert band. She recorded an album when she was 11 and 12. It is called “It’s Magic”. Lots of standards. Also watch the video version of “ It’s a Man’s World”. Even the band director shakes his head at what she does. Also, when she was 12, she opened Quincy Jones 85th birthday concert in London. Her rehearsal with the orchestra is special. This only scratches the surface of what she can do.
Thanks for your special reaction, yes we are hanging on every word that comes next. She's a great storyteller and the Song means a lot to her. At the Life performance of her concerts in Norway this Summer she had tears of joy in her Eyes flowing at her face about all the Fans coming to her from far away ❤️🥰✌️
Impeccable vocal artistry hard at work. Lovely reaction, thank you for sharing. You must check out her version of 'I Put a Spell on you ' in black and white...I believe she's 9 years old in that video. Have a blessed day.
She always had the ability to draw me in and captivate me. That’s why I love watching performances when she was much younger. When she continues to raise the performance bar like this, I’m always wrong if I believe she can’t get better.
Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. If you haven’t already reacted to her latest studio of Whitney Houston's version you should - here’s the link - ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html 🙂
Absolutely amazing performance from Angelina, The pianist is Grammy winning Rob Christie Angelina’s pianist at Republic Records he is also RR studio director, Angelina has collaborated with him many times, Suspicious Minds a Cover of a Cover as the original artist Mark James who wrote recorded and performed this song didn’t achieve with his version, then Elvis covered the song and it was a hit , the first two little girls in the video are Angelina’s cousins her managers children, the eldest girl is Angelina’s sister Juliette, production input from Angelina’s Grandma who is a talented artist, love how Angelina pays tribute to Elvis with her black outfit and red guitar 🎸 and Pricilla Presley hair style, great reaction thanks 🙏
Nice to see you again, Bob. You pinpointed one of her finest characteristics when she sings. Every note, every word, has her stamp on it and she tells us the story of the song very differently from what the original was and, although she pays homage to the original artist and the basic melody of the song, she undoubtedly has made her version an entirely different song. You love her voice, we all do, and it would take a couple of hours to critique a song if we chose to do so. Repeat: Every note and every word is telling us something. You also said a young girl her age shouldn't have a voice like she does. Yes. Bob, how about who she is artistically, doing all the rearranging of classics. And, everything is delivered with poise and confidence and, more times than not, with a well placed smile. I have an idea about what may lie ahead for Angelina. When she performs at a large venue with a giant stage, I hope the organizers create a set for the stage which resembles an old time speak easy type night spot where Angelina can spin out songs like 'Cry Me A River' and 'I'm A Fool To Want You'. Bob, that was also a little hint of what you may want to hear from Angelina. Both those songs recorded on video are, in a word, spectacular!
Angelina is just amazing isn’t she, it’s so difficult to accept that a person her age can sing this way! There’s another young performer who has an unreal voice, Diana (Dee ana) Ankudinova (Ancoo din over) who is a lyrical contralto, her covers when she was in her early teens include Wicked game and I can’t help falling in love, both are sensational!
Great reaction to this video! She's 16 here and showing her impressive vocal ability. Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance
Thanks for another great reaction, analysis & appreciation of another Angelina masterpiece in which she masterfully reinterprets the original & is able to emote the essence of the song direct to our hearts & souls allowing us to also deeply FEEL the music as it flows through her. Definitely a family production - the Executive Producer Meri Zamani is Angelina's grandmother, the 2 younger girls are her cousins & the older girl is her younger sister Juliette. Also a very respectful tribute to Elvis - including Angelina's beehive hairdo reminiscent of Priscilla Presley & her black leather jumpsuit & red Hagstrom guitar just like Elvis in his "ComebackTour". Truly amazing at just 16, but I still highly recommend her Norway Got Talent performances at ages 7-8 & especially her black & white performance of I Put A Spell On You (which she also arranged) at age 9. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
"Amazing, sultry, smokey kind of vibe that her voice gives off...." You've got it, Bob. Thanks for returning for more Angelina. That intro is something special, isn't it? It immediately sucked me in (and you, too, by the looks of it). I absolutely love the way she started the song with the bridge. I think it's the perfect setup given how Angelina slowed Elvis's cover of the original down to concentrate her attention on the essence of the lyrics. Pure Angelina artistry and superb storytelling. Cheers. 😇
Her arrangement starts and ends with the bridge. Really emphasizing the true meaning of the lyrics. The original is so fast and catchy you don’t realize it’s a somber song
Yep, 3 years older than "Bohemian...", matured as an artist exponentially per year. With her jazz and blues foundation we very often hear them coming through. Loved this tribute to Elvis, one of her early mentors, as we hear shadows of his voice. She's known for arranging all her own songs from the originals and for staying with the integrity of the song, sometimes more than the original. She very often amazes us since she first won Norway's Got Talent after entering at 7 years old, singing jazz and blues. I look forward to following you through Angelina's Wonderland of musical exploration and discovery of incredible sounds and experiences as she absorbs the emotions of each song and delivers them to us with every thoughtful phrasing of every word. One of the NGT judges got it right when she said to Angelina, "You are music." No one delivers and elicits emotions better than Miss Angelina Jordan Astar.
Next, I suggest her performance of Feeling Good and I flipped when I heard her "Leaked" demo of a song called I'm Still Holding Out For You " Then again I will watch any of your reactions to Angelina Jordan 😉
This song was EP’s last number one hit and has always been one of his very best. Mark James wrote it and EP made it event more up- tempo with a huge backing of instruments and singers. Angelina and Rob Christie brook it down to the true emotional story with meaning it should have always been. They took a pop hit and made it a Masterpiece with a capital M. Now check out Angelina in the same shop killing My Funny Valentine!
Rob Christie is a Grammy award winning pianist. And studio manager at LA Republic Records. And definitely has taken her under his wing to mentor. He has played piano on most of her videos since she signed with Republic. And have no doubt they collaborate on arrangements.
2 reactions and already a ANGELINA playlist that's a bonus for me , however can't subscribe because already done so .a very enjoyable enthusiastic reaction thanks.
Great reaction Bob!! Angelina Jordan is pretty fantastic. And she's grown into a great artist. But I can't help it, I like her performances when she was a young little girl. Those are what attracted me to her & made me a fan. I've been listening to her for quite a few years. 😊
Great reaction Bob, New Sub. This is my theory ,What do you think? Nobody can emit the emotion and soul of a song like Angelina. I think she reads the lyrics first before listening to the song. In this way she can understand the feeling and emotion the artist wants to convey. Then she arranges it to be able to dramatically convey the feeling and emotion to us. She takes iconic songs and makes them Angelina songs. Her vocals, tones and smokiness do the rest. She is already The Greatest of All Time! Just amazing!!
Thank you for returning to Angelina for a second reaction. I rarely subscribe to a new reactor to Angelina until they have featured her at least three times. However, I can see quite clearly that you appreciate her talent and versatility, and will be reacting to her for a long time, So you have a new subscriber, You probably know that the song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. It was Elvis Presley's last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).
You've heard her at 13 and now 16. You should check out some of her earlier videos, so you can see she has been a brilliant performer since she was 6 or earlier.
She arranges all her own music. She’s quite talented on the piano, plus plays guitar, violin and flute as well. You have a lot of delights in store as you go down the Angelina rabbit hole! Enjoy!
diane Probably hasn't touched a violin or flute in years. As for being "quite talented on the piano"....C'mon, I love Angelina, but that's stretching the truth a little too far.
@@103mrg I didn’t think she was that accomplished on the piano either until I saw and heard her practicing “Oslo” on a UA-cam video. Believe me, she knows her way around the keyboard. She usually keeps it very simple when she’s performing and accompanying herself, but that doesn’t mean she can’t play well. And how do you know how well she plays the other instruments? Most people didn’t know she even played the guitar until she showed up not that long ago on a TikTok accompanying herself. Now she’s singing Spanish on a TikTok! You just can’t put anything past her or her bag of tricks! And BTW, I don’t appreciate being called a liar!
@@dianedove1000 I have seen the Oslo video and I didn't see her doing anything on the keyboard that one would consider accomplished or talented.....As I wrote earlier, I believe she dropped the flute and violin years ago......"Being called a liar"???? Where did you read that? Not in my comment.
You have to go way back to understand how special she is. You will probably love most of her songs. Try I’ll rather go blind, just to show a little of her variety
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.
Rob Christie is studio director for REPUBLIC RECORDS and he is on piano and I believe arranged the song. He has been mentoring Angelina since she signed with Republic Records at 14 yo. Angelina has arranged almost all of her songs since she was on Norway's Got Talent at 8 years old and she usually likes to slow down the tempo and completely envelop herself in the lyrics. There are videos where she shows the musicians how she wants the song played, at 8! She has always had a voice way beyond her years. The classic "FEELING GOOD" is a great example of how she arranges and performs a song like a 20-30 year seasoned veteran. On stage with a fantastic jazz orchestra, with a James Bond vibe. Her stage presence at 10 years old is uncanny: ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html. BTW, I loved learning to play trumpet and french horn from Mr. Wagner in junior high school and Mr. Mucci in high school. I will always cherish those times.
@@103mrg If you read the description on Angelina's video you'll find the that Rob is credited for the full arrangement: _"Piano & Arrangements: Rob Christie"._ However, I do believe that Angelina had lot of input regarding the artistic outline
@@YozhikvTumane I did read that description and interpreted it to mean what I explained in my comment. I believe, and of course I could be wrong, that Angelina did the vocal arrangement.
During this period, late 60's, early 70's, there are a few songs by Elvis that I really like: "If I Can Dream" is a powerhouse performance from his Comeback Special. "In The Ghetto" is a truly gritty, real indictment of the reality of the poverty and desperation of some during that time. "Kentucky Rain" is literally one of my all-time favorites by Elvis. I NEVER liked Suspicious Minds by Elvis. I love Angelina's version of this song!! It's a 'frame-off restoration' of this song, completely changing the structure and pace and style in order to tell the core story of the song and the emotional angst of it. Pure Genius! And, of course, Angelina's total control of her vocal techniques to deliver all of this with power and the ability to let you hear and feel every word! Incomparable.
She gave us a taste of her lower register, while paying tribute to the Kings deep voice and as always, she made another classic of all time and made hers! How? How does she just keep on blowing our minds? We're so conditioned, we're waiting for the next impossible at this point, performance! "World changer"

Great reaction, Bob. We're witnessing a voice for a generation. 🙂
@@305991523 I think you are right. She is very special.
I hope she's learning to play that guitar. Imagine her rocking out on the guitar and singing at the same time.
Angelina does all of the arrangements for her songs she sings.
Her voice flows like a river of liquid gold. She has complete control, and every song I hear from her just makes my heart sing
Totally agree Leon.
Yes yes yes super super superstar!!! MAGICAL VOICE!!!
I love her,I will till the day I die
This is my favorite one of my favorite the register she doesn’t do a cover she young covers it she’s 16 years of 15 years out here 50 years old and she starts at the bridge and her voice is immaculate. She’s my favorite singer of all time records of rage I’m 77 I’ve been watching since she was one and a half and a jazz
You picked a great one William.
Very nice reaction: most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life.... the only one I have become addicted to
Thanks Geoffrey!
Yeah, you said it right. Addicted. I think that goes for all of her fans❤️
Her tone and voice control is out of this World ❤️
We all love Angelina, such a really special human being. Has an amazing voice. I am 76 year old gran and she helps fill lonely days with joy. You love jazz as do I suggest you listen to My Funny Valentine at 16 years old.
Hi Gwen! Thanks for watching! She’s a special one. I’m really enjoying what she can do.
my funny Valentine will amaze you
Very first note appears to be the doorbell ring which sounds same key piano comes in with. She's a goddess!
When the bell rings our ANGEL sings , it's a wonderful life. :-)
Great reaction. It's fun watching someone new discover Angelina. I'm watching your reactions of her in order. In this video, I love the nod to Priscilla Presley with the hairdo :)
Thanks so much.
I never got emotional listening to this song covered by other artists. But Angelina's cover made me emotional. Not sure why, but in a sentimental way.
I totally understand. She puts so much feeling and emotions in everything she does.
Rob Christie Playing Piano:
That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago.
Fabulous information you really are the font of knowledge. I am sure everybody thanks you. Well done sir
Great information👍🔥
We just got her voice, but wow wow wow wow
From the very first note, she grabs you and doesn't let go until she's done. Angelina is undeniably a musical genius and the most compelling artist I know of. She's been captivating me since she was 7. Her entire career has been mind boggling and she's only 16 with 9 years experience. You can get lost exploring her but it's time well spent. 😎
I loved this reaction. You notice so much! Thank you.
Thanks Beth!
No doubt the girl is the best there has ever been, be honest people she is :)
She is very special. Doing what she does at a young age is incredible.
💯 *AJ* 💯👣
💯
What impresses me about Angelina's interpretation is that it better illuminates the back story of the original writer, Mark James, and the love triangle that created "suspicious minds". Mark James' recording sounds a bit like Elvis' rendition, but it was Elvis who put the emotional energy into his version. Like Elvis, Angelina puts emotional energy into almost every word of the lyrics, and by slowing the pace of the song, the listener can easily share those emotions and lyrical content. Bravo, Angelina!
Another fine example of Angelina’s vocal versatility. Thanks for your reaction!
Rob Christie is a 2x grammy winning producer for Republic Records and accompanies Angelina in several of her recent releases.
Wow to have that kind of talent and attract the same talent is amazing.
Thanks for the info Patricia! Man this one was incredible.
Thanks so much Ole for the great info!
Angelina doesn't cover songs - she uncovers them, delivering their essence to heart. She's magic!
I love how you truly appreciate the beauty here. Thank you. Grandma Ellen, over and out. 💜
Angelina ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
addictive & mesmerizing
Suspicious Minds by AJ has been viewed 2.5 million times, not counting those who view on reactors pages.
Angelina looks like a sixties rock queen... and her voice is out of this world!
The song found its way to the person it was written for.
Angelina is the GOAT x 2. In my 70 years i have never heard anyone like her. Best either male or female and an absolutely beautiful human being to boot.
She is very special for sure.
Thanks Henry!
She has the voice of a person who has already gone through life.
Yep good way to describe it Sharon.
You nailed it with "Sultry". She blew my socks off with Bohemian Rhapsody, I never did find them.
Lol that’s funny Bill!
Thanks for thr great info Robert!
Welcome to the 🌍 of Angelina the princess of jazz music 🎷
who does not wear shoes 🦶🦶during her performance and for a very good reason 👑🗣🎙
Angelina is a master story teller.
Rob Christie the pianist is a two time Grammy winner🌀
Mark James cover actually..and therefore closer to the original and more in sync with the angst of the lyrics..Dont you just love how she gives the song time to breath? She’s such a gigantic talent )) Pianist is Rob Christie, Studio Director, Republic Records L.A., three time Grammy Award winner and mentor to Angelina (though in an interview he stated she was mentoring him!) can I just say I really love your approach to reacting..excellent observations and lovely laid back style. Thx 🙏
Great comment, reflecting my exact thoughts. This is definitely one of the best reaction videos I have seen.
@@poolhallshark Always a pleasure to read your comments too..take care and thx ))
Awesome reaction and you have just entered a Wonderful World of Music! Be prepared to have your mind blown 170 more times, from age 6 to present age 16. Enjoy the journey it's unique and Awesome, God Bless!
Thanks Mark for the kind words! She is amazing!
Loved your reaction here! I do hope you react more to Angelina and Pentatonix!
Thanks I plan to both are amazing!
Angelina is a Vocal Goddess, she is always amazing, and mesmerizing.
Presilla look, elvis red gitar and piano from this antik store..😊💟
Love your comment and agree hundred percent... Now one comes to my mind " My funny Valentine" . She did it twice , age 10 or 11 and this year age 16 . It could be subject to a nice reaction in bringing them side by side , and see the evolution.
Honest-to-god if she's not a worldwide superstar in the next year something is wrong with the universe
I have to agree with you.
I highly recommend "I Have Nothing" age back & white shot in the antique store.
I wouldn't say Angelina was all grown, She is still just 16 and probably has another 10 years or so before her voice fully matures.
I was talking about her body but as far as her voice goes of course, I agree with you.
My suggestion for your next Angelina video? Anything she performs…..
Lol
What a great and sincere reaction Bob....we all know who this young lady is already and so wonderful to see someone like you that also appreciates the vocal skills of the teenage young lady. Realistically, 75% of the reactors to Angelina are simply looking for "clicks" on their channels and do not offer much substance. They react to a boat load of "singers" and few really appreciate a true Artist with this magnificent vocal instrument that Angelina possesses. Cheers, and Stay well.
Carl you made my day man. Thanks so much for the kind words! Have a great one!
@@bobcieslinski You as well.
Yes! That voice! Captivating! Angelina is a true artist.
Thanks Terry ! I will check it out.
She is special and thanks for the kind words Hans-Georg!
Impeccable vocal artistry hard at work. Lovely reaction, thank you for sharing. You must check out her version of 'I Put a Spell on you ' in black and white...I believe she's 9 years old in that video. Have a blessed day.
Thank you for a Wonderful reaction! Her voice embrace your heart and soul!👌💫❤️🙏
She always had the ability to draw me in and captivate me. That’s why I love watching performances when she was much younger. When she continues to raise the performance bar like this, I’m always wrong if I believe she can’t get better.
The baby and little girl are Angelina's cousins, and the pre-teen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette.
If you haven’t already reacted to her latest studio of Whitney Houston's version you should - here’s the link - ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html
🙂
Great reaction. I'm going to go find your reaction to her AGT performance.
Won't be difficult he has a playlist of 2 . :-)
Look for Diana’s video next week. I am finally get to her video. Hope you enjoy it!
Love this
Next, I suggest her performance of Feeling Good and I flipped when I heard her "Leaked" demo of a song called I'm Still Holding Out For You "
Then again I will watch any of your reactions to Angelina Jordan 😉
Good reaction. You put your time into this.
A classic sprinkled with that special Angelina Dust, just wonderful! A Million Miles ( studio version ) self penned is a must.
Rob Christie is a Grammy award winning pianist. And studio manager at LA Republic Records. And definitely has taken her under his wing to mentor. He has played piano on most of her videos since she signed with Republic. And have no doubt they collaborate on arrangements.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
2 reactions and already a ANGELINA playlist that's a bonus for me , however can't subscribe because already done so .a very enjoyable enthusiastic reaction thanks.
Thanks Tom!
I like her voice. I have heard others sing the song as well.
Great reaction Bob!! Angelina Jordan is pretty fantastic. And she's grown into a great artist. But I can't help it, I like her performances when she was a young little girl. Those are what attracted me to her & made me a fan. I've been listening to her for quite a few years. 😊
Bob, Angelina created the vocal arrangement and pianist, Rob Christie wrote musical arrangement.

Wonderful reaction to this masterpiece Bob. What a voice... 🙂
Only three years older. Listen to I Put A Spell on You, at 9 yrs and 2 months old. Then go back
Thanks for the reaction, can't wait for the next one you experience
Great reaction Bob, New Sub. This is my theory ,What do you think?
Nobody can emit the emotion and soul of a song like Angelina.
I think she reads the lyrics first before listening to the song.
In this way she can understand the feeling and emotion the artist wants to convey.
Then she arranges it to be able to dramatically convey the feeling and emotion to us.
She takes iconic songs and makes them Angelina songs.
Her vocals, tones and smokiness do the rest. She is already The Greatest of All Time! Just amazing!!
She does have a lot of soul and emltion Albert. So fun to listen to her. Thanks for subbing!
Thank you for returning to Angelina for a second reaction. I rarely subscribe to a new reactor to Angelina until they have featured her at least three times. However, I can see quite clearly that you appreciate her talent and versatility, and will be reacting to her for a long time, So you have a new subscriber,
You probably know that the song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat".
Thanks for the info and for subbing Albert!
Powerful cover of this song, enjoyed your reaction thumbs up to you 👍
Thanks Marvin! Man she is so good. What a voice!
You've heard her at 13 and now 16. You should check out some of her earlier videos, so you can see she has been a brilliant performer since she was 6 or earlier.
Wonderful suggestion! He will be astounded !
Really great reaction, she's so special. Looking forward to more reactions. 👍
Great reaction,
You have to go way back to understand how special she is. You will probably love most of her songs. Try I’ll rather go blind, just to show a little of her variety
She gives ode to Elvis with her Evisesc jumpsuit.
I will always cherish those times.
frank I believe that Rob did just the piano arrangement.
This is a lot more personal than The Elvis version. Just wow🙏
