    We finally got it - the new 2024 BMW R 1300 GS that for now is not available in an Adventure variant but instead there's a Trophy style, Triple Black, Option 719 Tramuntana and no style at all too - the white color scheme.
    In this video I'm going through what BMW added, what they copied from other competing manufaturers and their motorcycles like Ducati Multistrada V4, Triumph Tiger 1200, KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and Harley-Davidson Pan America Special. And perhaps above all - Honda NC750X which clearly served as huge inspiration to BMW when designing this new BMW R1300GS.
    To make this video more fun, I've first got back to my video recorded 2 years ago after we first saw the spy shots of the new BMW R 1300 GS, and I'm showing you which guesses I've got right. They're more wishes in fact, so thank you, BMW, for delivering so much! Here's the mentioned video: • New 2024 BMW R 1300 GS...

    I think the torque is more important than HP. The new GS has the highest torque than any other ADV bike. You ride torque and race HP.....

      I think there must be a balance between torque and horsepower. GS should have more hp. It is not easy to compete with Ducati Multistrada and KTM 1290 Adv S in the sense of power.

    The GS is a bike I’ve been eyeing for the past couple of years as a dedicated touring/moto camping bike. If you can believe, I’ve been carrying out such duties on an F900R (with some needed customizations to make those long hours doable). But I just hated the looks of the 1250. There is a design honesty behind it I could at least appreciate and respect, being that it served a purpose VERY well, and was designed to fulfill that role, VERY well. But I don’t want to get a bike purely for pragmatic reasons, that’s what a car is for, I want to feel excited to ride and even stare at it sitting in my garage.
    I feel like BMW hit this new iteration out of the park! That side profile, the solid molded rear end with faux trellis detailing almost as a design nod to the past designs, it’s just so modern, svelte, and dare I say sexy! I’ll be honest, that X headlight design will need some time to grow on me, and the placement seems backwards to me, like where the radar is, should be where the headlight is. But even the bike itself, managing to squeeze extra power and torque out the engine while supposedly maintaining the fuel efficiency AND reducing weight in a class and era that seems to be getting larger and heavier…hats off to you BMW.
    Will definitely be holding off for a year or two for BMW to work out any new model bugs and quirks, but this seems to be my future touring rig. Time to save up 😅

      It looks promising considering the electrically adjustable windscreen. Anyhow, this is likely the easiest thing to fix with aftermarket parts. Plus there are supposed to be plenty of factory windscreens to choose from. There's a whole chart for them that I saw yesterday at a BMW presentation. We will find out soon.

    How easy is it to load up for two up camping? What's the weight limit, 1100 pounds? Can the luggage hold anything (or a helmet) and come on and off easily like Vario? Is the muffler side luggage almost useless (LC Vario)?

    My dear friend,
    Thank you for the substantial and well thought analysis on the new BMW GS.
    As far as I can understand the Tramuntana version of the new 1300 GS takes in reference the name given to a specific Sea side fresh wind that blows through the Northern mountain range of the Spanish Canaria island, Maiorca, which balances the whether on that idyllic location. In fact it’s popular to say that when someone has lost their cool or do crazy things, that they’ve lost their Tramuntana 😂
    Commenting your first impressions video of the bike, I agree with a big portion of them.
    This GS iteration falls short in accomplishing with a variety of aspects towards the enormous expectations created. Generally the enhancements made to the bike are welcome. Some of them, not so much and others weren’t addressed yet. I am in peace with this changes because I own now a 2023 unit of the GSA, the Rally version and no one will take my bike away. I will keep it. So, when possible, I’ll test the new bike, of course, but I’m not in a hurry. If I wanted a Honda I think I would go for one. Maybe, in the flesh the impressions are different, but from the images and marketing material spread on the social and commercial media channels, by the numbers and shared information, the real enhancements aren’t huge. Maybe in five years lapse, BMW Motorrad releases another revision of the bike because this one is nearly up with the competition, but doesn’t excels or smashed in, the market competition proposals, by any way or form, mainly to overtake clearly it’s rivals. BMW is relying on their big Market quota. counting on loyal customers…Being in business, is also taking risk and they’re doing just that, expecting to profit a lot, if customers do the long stretch they’re demanding…It’s a gamblers move. Let’s wait and see if they are right on their expectations. I already took my safety measures and I’m not a bit anxious about it.
    Good things about this new GS:
    - I like the increased power and the loss of weight (but to judge I must ride it first);
    - I welcome the windshield electrification. (It eases things on a theoretical point of view);
    - I welcome the X-factor design of the new front light (But I can say this because I have already assured my preferences as I noticed here above);
    - I’m all a favor of the new safety features as blind spot detection, better lightning- if the led matrix bulbs prove to be-, the better breaks (not as an extra, that was a cheap move from BMW!…);
    The apparent bad things:
    - The bike seems to be shorter ( a piece of promotional filming shows an ecstatic passenger moving up and down the arms, while on the ride, in true excitement, what looks like the figure of an infant person or a very small woman. This appears to be saying that the backseat and related space for the pillion with the three hard cases on, is not generous, like it was before…);
    - The price of the bike with the important extra features and packs, even in the premium segment of alternative options offered by the market is not higher. It’s ultra high! I don’t know if BMW is not over pushing and laying too much confidence on their merits.
    And I hope that this negative three points, in the end turn out to be just the natural reaction of mine to the way how the change was operated and nothing to do with real loss. I’ll be waiting for your next video about this marvelous machines of two wheels. That’s for sure!
    Many thanks . Be well ✌️✌️

      I dug deeper and it does exactly nothing in the base version. The paid option of the Pro gives it cornering in addition. But for it to be able to cover the light stream where other vehicles are, it would need to have a camera but it doesn't. So nah, it's just a name as there are multiple LEDs in both variants. But they don't have any new option than what we already know, so cornering. Kind of a pity but well, there's room for future upgrades.

    The adaptive height control appears to be stated as 30mm. So you would be correct in the drop from the standard seat height of 850mm to 820mm. And they do seem to state that there is the option to let it stay in that lowered state if you prefer. I guess we'll see the truth shortly. The auto lowering function to me is a game changer. 820mm brings the GS to the same height as my present K1300s and now along with my two new upgraded titanium knees it may well be an option!

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  7 місяців тому +1

      We discussed it yesterday with BMW and despite not asking a question specifically about locking it in the lowered position, it may be locked in the higher. I'm not sure about whether it would be reasonable to lock it in the lower one for two reasons: 1) cannot see the reason for it since it works in a way that whenever you're about to put your foot on the ground, it will be low; 2) it wouldn't be able to use its full suspension capabilities then. But in the end of the day, it will serve the exact purpose that you've got in mind. Just like Harley-Davidson Pan America.

    • @Capp2101
      @Capp2101 7 місяців тому

      @@VToldsMotoShow sorry, I didn't explain myself fully. I wouldn't want it to stay in the lowered position, I agree that it would compromise the suspension. I was just saying that it seemed to be an option. I've ridden the Harley and it works very well on that bike, but I didn't like much else about it. My most immediate requirement would be an ideal stationary height of 820 while maximising the seat to peg distance. Then again that all depends on what the actual bike feels like, width of seat and bike could even make 850 comfortable, if that was the case I'd try for the 890 seat that is effectively 860. 😂

    I heard the 13GS has an aluminium tank, not plastic like my 1200GS LC. Much better: The fill hole seal should not become wavy and leak a little like mine when full and those clip on tank bags shouldn't tear out the metal inserts from the plastic that currently hold on the fill cap.

    I have FJR with 145hp and that bike is flying with his 292kg, GS is 50kg lighter and i think with that crazy torque will be crazy off road

    I have the 2021 GS Adventure. HP is more than enough as is Torque. I’m sure the new design will grow on me but I do like the skeletal look of the 1250GSA as it looks a lot more testosterone driven. I do like the change to the light and driving lights. Having a radar cruise is nice as my friend has the 2023 RT and he uses the radar cruise and loves it. The electronic windscreen is a welcome addition over the barely useable knob adjuster. I have the BMW(Touratech) panniers and top case. I like their look better than the bags they are showing on the new bike. I like the blind spot monitoring system. Until there’s an Adventure version it’s academic for me as the range is lacking on this GS.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  7 місяців тому +1

      I feel that the Adventure may be big news as indeed the change in style and size may be considered by some as a downgrade. This is a really more "approachable" motorcycle now and less of a tank on two wheels. I do see the appeal of the tank and like it myself. I feel that it would suit it more to be called R 1300 XR and sitting on it (without riding yet), feels just like one of the XR family bikes. Is that an upgrade or an downgrade - we will have to decide individually.

    Bwms arent any better than other bikes they just have a closed dealer network and marketing skills… don’t believe the hype. I used to work for them in engineering for motors for motorcycles. If you are bike shopping definitely wait a couple years the hybrids etc are about to hit motorcycles and the electronics are going to be extremely better for the same price

      Interesting, interesting, that will be something to keep an eye for. I for once would like to see how they would make hybrids happen in motorcycles.

    Looks like BMW dropped the ball in R&D department. The use of the same display and system as the previous generation is laughable. It already wasn't great on the old GS. As for the design, I actually liked the old one better. It had an industrial charm to it.

    A speed limit function would be better than adaptive CC. You are dictating and the bike is limited by your own setting.. let’s say 120km/h on high-ways

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  7 місяців тому

      I know such a system from some cars and it can work pretty fine as it's not "locking" and preventing you from exceeding that speed, but kind of stalls before exceeding it, so that you've got some margin of sort of a numb spot in reaction to throttle. But if you want, you open it more and the vehicle accelerates as if nothing was happening. Otherwise for safety reasons preventing acceleration may be too much but I see the point and it's interesting. Seems rather easy to implement I believe.

    Why can’t BMW get rid of the beak and use a normal light? Designing a GS people make fun off. What is the problem with these designers? Yes, too plastic looking. Pointless plastic.

      You know what? It keeps crossing my mind that this one will give a spectacular potential to all aftermarket manufacturers that will (hopefully) prepare some design kits that will properly enhance the looks. I'd love that.

    Just as the previous GS was ugly, BMW managed to throw the new GS 1300 down the ugly tree hitting every branch along the way down. Ugly, ugly, cheap looking.

      Somewhat like this. I saw it right new to R 1250 GS yesterday and in real life it's pretty much the way you explained it. I'd just say that the R 1300 GS may look more modern but not really like an upgraded bike but rather a different model.

    As others have said, I too find it quite ugly and a bit cheap looking. It will go great of course, more power, less weight.... but in the real world (on public roads that is) the improvements will prove marginal - except the reduced size and,weight which shorter people or those feeling less confident will appreciate. Its definitely a diminished presence to the current bike. For me its a fail. And that ridiculous looking headlight..... 🫣 whoever was in charge of that part should be fired no matter how well it illuminates the road

      I saw the bike and sat on it yesterday and yeah, it's still not the prettiest but it's better than in the pictures. The issue is with the "forehead" and I'm afraid that it's there to stay with not much workaround possibilities. Another conclusion is that style-wise, it's a revolution and not knowing that it's a GS and not taking into account the cylinders, I wouldn't say it's a GS anymore. In 5 days I'm getting one of those for tests so I'll know the rest.

      They do differ a lot indeed. Yesterday I saw R 1250 GS and R 1300 GS next to each other at a presentation and these are very different in terms of style now. And I mean very.
