How To Turn ON/OFF USB Power When Computer Is Off

- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Sometimes you might want to turn on USB power when your computer is off to charge your devices or run the RGB lights. You can easily enable/disable USB power after shutdown by going to BIOS settings.
You can easily change the USB power state on older versions of Windows 10. However, the new versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 do not support the feature.
You have to change the USB power state from the BIOS settings.
Open the BIOS and go to Advanced Mode.
Click on the Advanced option
1. MSI Motherboards -
Find the ERP-ready option and disable it.
Go to "Wakeup event setup" and Enable "Resume by USB device".
Save the changes and exit BIOS.
2. Gigabyte Motherboards
Find and disable "ERP Ready" settings.
Save changes and exit
3. Asus Motherboards
Go to the Advanced option
Open "APM Configuration"
DDisable ERP RReady option
Go back to the Advanced option
Enable " Asmedia USB 3.1 Battery Charging Support" OR USB Power delivery in soft state (s5)
Save and exit.
4. AsRock Motherboard
Go to Advanced Option
ACPI Configuration
Disable the "Deep Sleep" option to keep USB power ON after shutdown.
Anytime you want to turn off USB power after shutdown, revert the changes.

I used the video to disable this setting which I enabled then forgot how to reverse when no longer needed, you wouldn't believe how difficult it was to find a vid on this haha great guide worked a treat
Turning on ERP helped in my case so that my USB audio device shuts off together with the PC. Thanks man!!
I needed that all my components to shut down along with my pc, with ErP enabled I accomplished that, thanks 😀
Really appreciate the video. Lights of my mouse didn't turn off after shutting down the pc. The bios tweek finally made it possible. Cheers dude!

Thank you so much for your help. This was so frustrating. I really appreciate the assistance! 😀👍
if this doesn't work check erp/eup option to enabled in your bios power settings
disabling erp ready does the exact opposite of what you are tryintg to achieve. wth . what you need is to enable erp ready
Damn, none of these settings seem to work
Same on Asus TUF x299 Mk 2
Worked for my msi board, this the first one that’s actually worked
Gigabyte h110m-h rev. 1.0
Not working... But great tutorial
Worked for me. I can now use the wireless switch to my pc. Just follow the tutorial. Make sure you're following the steps according to your mobo brand and windows version. Thanks for this great tutorial!
The ErP one worked for me
Thank you so much bro 👍
What usb device do you use to connect to / then power on?
Thanks a lot! It helped a friend of mine.
Nice! Thank you very much!
Broooooo you’re AN Angel!!!!!!!
I have an Asus mother board (P8H77-M) and I don't have the ErP option. The usb were off when the computer was off before then I loaded the default configuration for some reason and now the USB is always on. I cannot find the option in the bios to disable it when the PC is off.
On my MSI motherboard this worked. It broke and I got a better Gigabyte board but now this doesnt work
Very useful thanks
Thanks for letting us know bro keep it up
Can you set it to turn off only certain usb if you do this through device manager?
It seems to be on by default for me. The RGB lights on my speakers won’t turn off when I power down.
Dude you don't have to go to windows recovery to enter BIOS, just press DEL when rebooting pc.
When i do this i can charge my laptop with usb power bank and use it while the laptop is running ?
If I want to turn the usb off when pc is off. Should I enable S4+S5 or only S5?
Easy and straight forward!

Hi friend, working fine with my pc, (motherboard MSI ) thanks a lot.
Thank you so much.
Why not just enable usb-power in bios??
In bios i have no settings my keyboard and speqkers light up after i shut down pc
Nvmd, I just found out that it was my PowerBank that I had plugged into my front USB panel to charge that was giving my pc energy strong enough to turn on my other usb devices
Wroks of me, but only with turn off fast startup.
1. Click on Start, search for Power Options.
2. On the left pane, select Choose what the power buttons do.
3. Under Shutdown settings, uncheck the box for Turn on fast startup.
4. Click on Save changes.

I use follow this video with acer nitro v 16 it not work
thanks
Didnt work
Thank you.
Only works with back connectors, motherboard USB headers do not charge
Also if the option isn't there, your mobo doesn't support it
Mines charge from all the port including usbc and usb front header. Z690 msi meg ace
my computer keep my usb ports active whatever I do :( I would like them to be turn off when my computer is in sleep mode
If you use hibernate instead and do a bios change to turn usb off when off.
@@johnpaul5949 didn't work for me
I tried all (except BIOS) and nothing works...
To be honest this is BS... (Not your video)...the hypercomplexity they create to simple things...
When I shutdown a machine I want it to be shutdown... Period...
WTF is this...!?!?!?!
And even the options you suggest (that did not work for me) are in to totally different places and paths, while they are required to solve the same issue...
I know they are doing it on purpose... It's a great example of what is wrong with the world...
When open does not mean open any more and when closed in not actually closed...everything loose its meaning...
Thanks for the video even though it did not help me...I am not touching the BIOS....
I will just unplug all my system after shutdown...
Fake,my laptop USB works even if the laptop is off and the setting is enabled
Does not work on a hp desktop!
It depends on motherboard.
Why the fuck do windows auto set usb to stay on when updating
My laptop is at 0 percent everytime I unplug it within a couple of hours.. this is ridiculous how are you mentioned to sleep with this on when you yhink it's off. Making My cat suffer while she's sick as screw Microsoft this is unforgivable
Finally I can sleep
How dare they make her final moments worse by making me think the pc is off when it isnt 😢
Plus running my hard druves into the ground...Dead silence
unforgivable Microsoft disgusting
