great show... learned a lot. mike, you've inspired me to book a trip. heading down on the dry tortugas trip in march and i plan on primarily slow pitch jigging
Excellent place to fish. Maybe include some tips on tools and technique on how to make quick repair to gear and/rigs. Just a suggestion. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way
In the hands of a genuine jig master, jigs will outproduce bait in quantity - 100%. As far as size, at the end of the day the guy who gets the most bites is going to have the best shot at quality fish as well. - Capt Mike
Captain mike great video great fishing as usual. Ive read some of the comments people asking where can they get this type of gear no clear answer im enterested as well to purchase a set up/combo along with some of those jigs. I checked chaos but i dont think thats where this roda came from.are this for sale some where or u guys still developing and testing this rods. Thank you in advance if u take the time in sharing some info
Good luck getting your hands on an Evergreen Poseidon, call me and we'll hook you up with a complete custom ready-to-fish outfit. - Capt Mike - 954.942.7261
Greetings from Costa Rica!... I notice that the jigs used have assist hooks on BOTH ends. SOP around here is to only have two (or one) hook on the UPPER end of the jig, leaving the lower end, the one that hits the bottom, without any hooks at all. Reason being....you avoid snagging structure on the bottom, and loosing jigs. Anyone else doing this?
It is so much easier to figh bigger fish with undearhead reels (also multiplicators I use original BH Cape Cod rods), then conventional multiplicators reels aka overheads.
Was just way out in the Gulf from the lower Keys for a few day long range trip, incredible weediness loaded with dolphin. No wahoo, but we did see a few sailfish, too. - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing thats great, thanks for the quick response, out of about 15 hours of trolling combined i havent gotten a knockdown and i have done everything i have been told to do in my area (PCB)
High speed jig better suited for working through entire water column, especially when targeting blacken tuna. Slow pitch jig better suited for working bottom of water column for snapper/grouper. - Capt Mike
More important is the retrieve ratio per crank and the drag rating. The original slow pitch reels are star drag, but I've had great success on lever drag...So its not to say you can't use your lexa, or other low pro reel.
a seminar on this would be great capt Mike
Its coming! - Capt Mike
Another Classic, looking forward to using these tactics ASAP!
nice!

Do you only use the sow pitch jigs that have the glow in the dark patterns?
Mike have you tried to slow pitch out of Pompano? If so how successful have you been?
Have you noticed a difference between the size and or quantity of the fish that got caught on jigs vs bait.
Also have you thought about putting links in the description of yourgear

james bay fishing hearty rise, sea floor control, deep liner.
when would you use a slow pitch jig instead of a high speed jig

Where do people sleep?
Comfortable, dark, air conditioned bunk room down below. Bring a blanket, it gets cold! - Capt Mike
Say it’s not snapper season and you pull up a red snapper and a shark eats half of it can you keep it
You cannot because half a snapper is a still in your possession when you cannot have any snapper in your possession.
i am wondering how well the new realm of the big saltwater rated lowpro baitcasters would do slowpitch jigging
Ive seen guys using them and they seem to hold up. - Capt Mike
