I was 8 years old when the wall fell and I can remember it like it was yesterday: all the people crying tears of joy and hugging each other - that is a moment in my life that I will never forget.
Not only Germany, but whole Europe. It's about fall of communist regimes in Eastern Europe. Greetings from Poland.. For us Poles this song is very important and full of emotions too.😢
Wind of Change is one of the unofficial anthems of German reunification. Another song that is often called the anthem of the fall of the Berlin Wall is Looking for Freedom by David Hasselhoff.
The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. They nailed it, (including the whistle) I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that. I LOVE the Scorpions. I rock with them, but this my favorite song. 10/03/2017 Grand Sierra Resort Reno
Key references in the lyrics: (1) "Moskva" is the Russian name for both Moscow and a river that runs through Moscow. (2) "Gorky Park" is a major park along the Moskva River in Moscow. (3) "Balalaika" is a Russian guitar-like instrument with a triangular base and (usually) three strings.
Just a side note... Klause Minah doesnt speak english ... >.> (lead singer) .. so we should give that a few more stars ... What you are hearing is his SOUL...
well, the children of tomorrow fcked it up. thats why the scorpions changed the lyrics now. The end of the song came with brutal consequences. For thirty years, the Scorpions ballad "Wind Of Change" resounded through concert halls in Moscow, Siberia and St. Petersburg. Then Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The message of peace that had become music was gone with the wind. The Scorpions canceled planned concerts in Russia and rewrote the song. "I don't see that we will perform in Russia again," says Scorpions singer Klaus Meine to the German Press Agency. "Not in the foreseeable future. That's sad. But you have to draw conclusions from reality." For Meine, "Wind Of Change" was also a promise of peace between East and West. "It fell apart with the terrible war." His thoughts are with Ukraine. "When the war is over, we will hopefully hold a peace concert on the Maidan in Kiev." "Wind Of Change" expresses the longing for freedom almost 35 years ago in East and West. For many, the five-minute and ten-second song is the anthem of the turning point in 1989. Meine changed a few lines. "After this unjustifiable war began, we asked ourselves whether we could still play the song. Now it shows our solidarity with Ukraine, instead of romanticizing Russia as we used to." Instead of “I follow the Moskva down to Gorky Park” it now says “Now listen to my heart, it says Ukrainia”.
I remember this song--came out when I graduated from high school, following the collapse of all communist dictatorships in Eastern Europe, in 1989-1990. Watch this small documentary to get the backgroud story that inspired this song (some images in the Wind of change video were taken from it: ua-cam.com/video/FqnCxZ2Z1w0/v-deo.html we need a modernized version of this song in 2024, with all current world events. Have a nice day.

I love the whistle too, it made the song more beautiful and unique, the storyline is already unique but it added it own flavor.

You should do songs by The Beatles!!!! Let it be, Hey Jude, Revolution
The 80s music and people is so powerful that even communism fell before them.
