Tarp tent by all means is the winner. I’m currently working out how to do something similar, difference will be the sides will be along the length of the bimini and the front attached as well. Leaving the back open at the moment , may add a flap down the track. Idea is that i can roll the 3 sides u individually and secure to the bimini during the day. Hope that mad sense lol. cheers from the land downunder. Subscribed
I’m working on doing the same 😀 I’m also experimenting with a lite pop top tent in casting deck idea. I’ll video that when done. Thanks for watching and subscribing 😀
@riveRecon had tried a pop up tent, hated the fight to get it folded down lol. Im hoping to zipper the bow end to be able to access the anchor easily if needed.. stay tuned, as i will on your progress
made some progress today, got the side all sorted, first time with a sewin machine, stoked with the results. not sure how i can share the short video with you. Frank
@@riveRecon added short vid i did the other day. have since mocked up the front by using alligator clips and string to draw the front ends together to give me the shape of the front piece i need to cut and then add zippers. so far the front looks like it will curve nicely and be taught enough to prevent sagging. will post again as I near completion. assembly is via 8 twist locks and 4 velco ties, and a couple other straps. sound a lot, but actually takes less than a minute to put up one side. thanks for your interest. cheers Frank from down under
I’m probably wrong but the frame for the tarp looks like square alloy tubing and a couple of old? Fishing rods? Bloody genius mate. Looking forward to the video of how you come up with it. My boat needs this… cheers
Correct on the alloy tube extensions. The main rails are a couple of caravan awning arms I had in the garage. All up about 20% of the price of a custom job. My “Hidden Secrets” video ua-cam.com/video/mditxgDck3o/v-deo.html has some better detail of how it all comes together. Thanks for watching 😊
That small gap at the bow between boat and tarp, due to the trolling motor cabling, is minor, but offers a bug and water ingress point. However, the tarp & bimini setup overall is quite good. Nice boat for this purpose, too.
Great point thank you. I’m think of a small drain channel to sides of the boat and a toggle setup to keep the gap sealed. I’ll post a video once I figure it out.
@@riveRecon Looking forward to how you develop this setup. And, yes, Chris Bamman is an inspiration in a variety of ways. Greetings from the Upper Great Lakes region of the U.S.
I love how good that tarp looks on your boat, awesome option if it rains😎👍
Nice job on front tarp, any chance on a video in some detail of how you did this. Cheerz 👍
Hi Jason, I’ve put on my list of videos to do and will get something done. Thanks for tuning in 😊

Hey did you do a video on you DIY bow tent?
This video shows the bow tent in a little more detail: ua-cam.com/video/mditxgDck3o/v-deo.html
I think the tarp set is better if you set the fishing rods ,then have a lay down if you get at strike at night easy to get up and grab them
Great thought! I didn’t think of that. Thanks
I like the tent mate I been contemplating doing the same thing
Cool! I think the DIY format of it can be used on many different types of boat bows at a fraction of the cost of a custom one.
I just bought an ALB Is that front canvas cover custom?
Congrats! The bow tent is a DIY job. Just a canvas tarp, some clips and load straps down the sides to hold it all on until I finalize how I want it
Cool.
