I've always wished that more people would explore African history/mythology for games. It seems like a super untapped well of content that would solve the issue of diversity people keep bringing up.
THIS RIGHT HERE!!! I'm Nigerian and I tell ya, African mythology and culture is just too rich for the industry giants to ignore. Imagine if a Naughty Dog or Santa Monica gave us a AAA experience with African mythology... it would do wonders. Instead they keep giving us the same ol same ol Japanese/Norse/Greek myths that have been done to death smh

Big facts. Assassin's Creed Origins showed that, and that was just Egypt (which still has tons of mythology and stories to pull from). Western stories are great but I've been playing/reading/watching them for 30 years. African mythology is a huge opportunity waiting to be tapped.
By all means, but don't be surprised when very few people buy the games. Nothing african (beyond Egypt) is worth a second glance.
Be careful wrapping up all of Africa into one generalized idea. It's far more diverse than what is shown on a map. Each culture is just as vast and rich as the next! :)

Saw this last night on the Game Awards. Very impressed with Abubakar Salim and the reason and inspiration for making the game-- it looks fantastic!!! I can't wait to play it.

Saw the reveal during the game awards, but then was re-reminded of it when I saw your guest spot on the Critical Role Stream, I was even one of the raffle winners! That's amazing, i have poor RNG in and out of game haha. I'm super excited to give this a go,(even though platformers bring out my inner demon girl rage)
The game is beautiful and I love the dive into cultural myth, lore and legend that we dont get to see ever.
Side note My husband-2-b is happy the main character didn't get the Killmonger hairstyle that the entertainment world is so stuck on right now. I saw your spotlight about the design choice and character style, so this handsome shaman is unmarried huh.. ;) It looks polished and for a small and new studio this looks to be a great start for sure! ♥♥♥
I mean I don’t think they could’ve either since the Killmonger hair was made for a fantasy setting and had no historical equivalent while the one in this is based on the Himba people from Angola/Namibia

As a big fan of mythology and folklore, I've had a strong desire to learn more about the ones I know little or absolutely nothing about. Doing so in an interactive way like video games adds further enjoyment to the process.
This looks great, but it also reminds me of how upset I am that Unisoft canned the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising. Leaked info and art showed it was to be about Polynesian Mythology and I was excited to learn more about it in an interactive way.
Interesting only because it reminds me of Ori, but it will never surpass Ori in my opinion.
