I really like how Nero emphasised that G2 has two players (Nexa and Hunter) who just underperform. And I feel like that's so true. Look at the games in which G2 looks good in, almost always it's when a) Nexa wins some nice clutches/get some good frags and b) Hunter is near the top of the ranking.
If those two perform well, then the team looks incredibly good, because Monesy and Niko are really good (Niko has been surprisingly good lately, he is just a bit inconsistent round to round).
I am not saying Hooxi is the right IGL, but if I were G2, I would try to change Hunter and Nexa first, because for what it's worth, with Hooxi the two stars do look good. And, yeah, maybe he just tells Monesy to go off and he does, sure, easy job, that doesn't mean it's wrong.
G2 is a star-player-team. They need to have the freedom to do what they want, so Hooxi being more relaxed in that sense is good, in my opinion.

47:35 i think thorin is completely right, from the outside looking in there is absolutely no way that nexa provides more to the team than jks even if you have to let him lurk. his rating wasn't great, but when you're playing with niko hunter and m0nesy you aren't going to have a great rating unless those players aren't performing in which case he would have to step up. and this happened fairly frequently especially in playoffs when jks would start getting above 1.10 rating and niko would have a few bad games at around 1.00 rating

The main problem is that the only reason to keep Hooxi is as a vibes elevating igl. But Nero also said right after that it's impossible to do that for Niko and Hunter.
So then logically he's incapable of doing the only thing he's even remotely arguably good at.
ur strawmanning pretty hard, he said hooxi can't guide or teach already set in their ways 27 year old veterans how to get back to peak form, that's on them to figure out.
and at the end nero laid it out pretty well, available igl replacement are either not guaranteed upgrades or very expensive, g2 could easily get worse after signing glave / kyxsan
compared to more obvious firepower upgrades

As a big G2 CS fan, I survived not winning a trophy for 7 fucking years. I experienced the high of the original french team, the failed french super team, the mid french team, the dissapointing aleksiB era and now the Gigachad era. Hooxi is a good IGL and you need a great IGL to replace him. I mainly judge an IGL based on T-rounds strat and how well he reads other IGLs, and with those criterias, that's how I know he's a good IGL. He knows how to punish IGLs like Jame, Cadian and Snappi, go toe to toe with Karrigan but always fail vs aleksiB.

thorin raised the best point no one mentions. when aleksi/karrigan/apex teams dont show up individually, they can still fall back on their b game and win. g2 has no b game. which primarily falls on the leader
niko or hunter transitioning to igl would be better than keeping hooxi

I would like to see Boombl4 as IGL for g2. A good replacement for nexa would be Jimi or perfecto. The problem which g2 have the team except monesy is old, so the risk that a player fell of with cs2 is very high, therefor they should sell hunter and pick a young player.
It also feels like they don’t have a good team behind the players (coach, analyst …)

While Hooxi isn't the only reason G2 isn't winning events, he definitely isn't good enough for G2 and the initial move still puzzles me to this day.

As Nero said, you have no clearcut better upgrade for Hooxi available. Yes you can make an IGL list, but a list of actual possible solutions its VERY small. Siuhy from mouse, yes he is doing good with inexperienced young pieces who trust in him from mouse academy days and a coach who knows him. But him on G2 with players who have "seen everything" and have strong opinions, not a chance. Everyone praised Golden when he took over in Fnatic, with mellow mild swedish legends, and he ended up getting kicked.
How do you think inexperienced IGL's gonna have the buy-in from those players? The other solution of making Hunter the IGL is like hearing the NBK as IGL point from 6 years ago. You come with some input as a secondary caller with no skin in the game, since if you lose its still the actual IGL getting blamed. Now your own game is garbage so lets try to save it by becoming an in game leader.
Loved the whole discussion all in all and the show, but dont see any of the arguments for cutting Hooxi being good.
In the end, getting better fraggers than Hunter and Nexa is the easy solution. Young players with crisp aim, that list is miles long and way less pricy than trying to buy an IGL that is both available and would be a clear upgrade.
You say my words. HooXi might be the problem but no one could be IGL this G2 with a significant improvement with this fire power.

Hooxi meanwhile needed Jame’s PC to crash to get a team with M0nesy/Niko/JKS or cs2 super saiyan m0nesy on it into the major playoffs on his THIRD try, and one of those, he didn’t even get them out of the RMR.

@@lmaojekins4027 to get into a major playoffs yes, he needed Jame’s PC to crash, if it hadn’t his results at 3 different majors with this lineup would have been:
- Rio RMR didn’t even get to the major, lost 1-3 with losses to 1Win and GamerLegion
- 1-3 in Legends stage at Paris, only win in legends stage was against Furia who were 0-3, he picked into Vertigo decider against Fnatic when Nuke was RIGHT THERE
- Without crash they’re 2-3 in legends in Copenhagen, getting 2-0 by VP and only beating Furia and Ecstatic, legit the 2 worst teams in the tournament, and they dropped a map to Ecstatic lmao
He's right, star riflers aren't performing. Hooxi isn't the real problem, if we forgot he's the reason why the have some trophies in their cabinet. We all seem to forget that because we think the legend riflers van NEVER drop off in their rating.... it is what it is, polishing a turd doesn't change the fact it's still a turd.

Ngl, Nero makes very little sense. Most of his points are statements rather than demonstrations.
Here's a hot take because Swani left G2 and they don't have an analyst. Hooxi should just become the analyst. Hunter should be igl and then replace hooxi with a konfig-like character.

I think the angle Thorin has on Hooxi is completely unfair since he's literally comparing him to icons of CS (Apex/Karrigan), an IGL Awper (Cadian, who's also way more experienced) and a far more experienced caller than Hooxi (Snappi).
It's like comparing Nertz to Prime Coldzera, Prime Get_Right, Prime NiKo, Prime Electronic, etc, Of course he's gonna look tiny in comparison.
Also for the arguments for Gla1ve/Siuhy/Kyxsan, let me make my case for way all three are flawed choices.
For Gla1ve, he was in really bad form at the time, never played in an international team, and the perception at the time was that he was washed, and gla1ve wasn't fragging much better than Hooxi was at the time so at best it's a sidegrade, even if he's a clearly better caller.
For Siuhy, while i agree he's getting more out of his pieces than Hooxi (Which is impressive, don't get it twisted), Siuhy is fragging at a very similar level to Hooxi (0.92 past 6 months vs 0.91) and has very good roles (A inferno, connector mirage, etc) so unless you want an already struggling Hunter to start anchoring, Siuhy is a tough sell, alongside his buyout.
For Kyxsan, there already is the gamble of being less experienced, he also has a massive buyout presumably (heroic had to pay a pretty penny).
G2 just need to kick Hunter and just get a good rifler (SDY is a solid option imo).
I agree dude. Hoxxi, for all his flaws, is a good IGL. I have seen some of his previous games, and the guy has the ability to raise players. He has done so with Copenhagen Flames. AS well as Mad Lions.
Well, seems like you agree with Thorin's angle. Like you said, he didn't think HooXi was on the level of these all-time greats and said that G2 are at a level where they can't afford to sit on a Tier 2 IGL. His whole argument is that you can't compare HooXi to those IGLs so he shouldn't be playing for a comparable team like G2. He should be playing for an ECSTATIC.
As for your other arguments:
gla1ve had bad form, but he was still a good IGL until he got phased out by blameF by the end of his tenure. He was also a way better fragger than HooXi then (you're comparing an average IGL fragger to literally the worst fragger since HUNDEN). gla1ve also had less resources than HooXi since he did a lot more of the "W in with a MAC-10" while HooXi got to play AK while NiKo's on a Galil sometimes. It's _at worst_ a sidegrade if we assume gla1ve doesn't mesh as well in G2 and at best a massive upgrade (taking current gla1ve on ENCE or maybe gla1ve returns to full form). There is no world in which the best case is a sidegrade when you add gla1ve to any team and to say so is disrespectful. How did you come to this conclusion when you even said that gla1ve is a better caller?
As for siuhy, at the time he was one of the best fragging IGLs. He's tapered off a bit since and HooXi is no longer literally the worst fragger since HUNDEN, but if you watch siuhy and HooXi, no one would say HooXi's a better individual player. siuhy plays with deagles on forces just to eek out an AK for his other players while HooXi is never getting less than a MAC-10. As for roles, siuhy doesn't have any good roles. Just playing star positions doesn't make you a star if you have no resources. huNter also doesn't play Connector on Mirage; he's playing Catwalk. G2 don't go aggro out middle of Mirage, heck they don't even play the map cause it's their permaban so what are you on about? A Inferno also doesn't tell me anything; is he a Short player, a Pit player, A Rotator? No idea. Seems like he plays B Rotator and occasionally Apps lurk, but MOUZ are a bad Inferno team anyway (their worst map apart from Anubis permaban) while GamerLegion had siuhy as B Anchor.
As for kyxsan, it is a gamble, but so is keeping HooXi. You're talking about keeping a guy who has flunked you out of 2 majors in a row, really 3 because Copenhagen was genuinely the flukiest playoff berth ever that needed God himself to intervene on HooXi's behalf. Rio, they didn't even make it through the RMR. Paris they lost in Legends to fnatic by playing genuinely the worst called Vertigo game I have ever seen. Why not go for a promising, new IGL talent who's already made it farther than Hooxi had in a major? Sure, the buyout's big, but so would it have been for any other piece apart from gla1ve. Not to mention, a sub-million buyout to upgrade G2 is absolutely worth it to not waste m0NESY's career. This is like telling the 2008 Cavaliers that they shouldn't trade picks to get Lebron an Allstar-caliber player just because they were young and not well-established. It still beats what you have right now, which isn't working for your generational HOF player.
All G2 really needed to do back then when they kicked jks was kick HooXi, make huNter IGL like they planned, keep jks, and then sign whoever for the last slot. nexa would've been okay for vibes, but ideally they want someone like flameZ or TeSeS. Heck, imagine if they did m0NESY, NiKo, huNter, jks, and dupreeh as their fifth. Absolutely major contenders there and the roles work out whereas, right now, nexa doesn't make sense on this team.
Right now, if they can get sdy, why even keep HooXi? sdy is both a better fragger and a better IGL. Maybe kick huNter too and add jks back with nexa on huNter's roles. All roads lead to HooXi being the first to go; that jks kick was a massive blunder.
The problem is we’re not asking if Hooxi is a “good” IGL, the question HAS to be is he the right IGL for a team with world #1 aspirations and two of the best players in the game

@@zettour. It was a good read but I think it was impossible to -hooxi +rifler because hunter has said multiple times that he doesn't want to be igl. I remember there were some rumours about boombl4 and I thought this would be the stupidest move ever. But now looking at what he does at cloud9 and how good his English is I'm kinda sad this move didn't happen
@@bar0v When did huNter say this? I'm not a huge huNter fan, but I haven't heard this ever from anyone, plus the huNter IGL move has been teased for like a year now. Unless you're mistaking huNter for nexa?
Boombl4 would've been nice, but Boombl4 in CIS teams is so much better. Only problem is I can see this screwing with the team's dynamic since you could have NiKo and huNter speaking Serbian then m0NESY and Boombl4 speaking Russian while jks is left gradually descending into Australian madness. They would need to make a more conscious effort to always speak English than they are doing now (NiKo and huNter talk in Serbian when they're last alive or communicating to each other specifically).
