Next time pay Maui a 500k consulting fee and he’ll find you a better player with a 100k buyout
Inflation hit the USD hard. In 2022 600k gets you m0NESY. Now it only gets you skullz.
Brazil has always been ridiculously expensive
bro this is hilarious 🤣
😂😂😂 S tier comment
LMFAOOO
skullz is the real -600k meme
Remember when people were clowning G2 for signing m0NESY for 600k, skullz cost the same. If you compare the initial amount of impact these two players had, it’s night and day. Not sure how liquid management hasn’t had as many -600k memes as G2 had back in 2022
i genuinely feel like g2 is going to upto the 10-15 mill mark if they keep m0nesy for another 3-4 years just from his brand name alone. Like he's pretty much single handlely keeping g2 as title contenders where Niko hunter Nexa doesn't actually show up consistently to be reliable.
I think part of it is the publicity of the move. Everyone was aware of the G2 Monesy move and it was hyped and built up for weeks before it actually happened.
For Skullz, tbh i didnt even know he costed that much until this vid 😂😂
@@Tankt0ptig3r this, the monesy move was talked about a lot and back then there weren't many deals that were this amount of money, if any. These days you has buyouts like elec+Perfecto for 2 mil
As a g2 hater I gotta admit, their -600k is nothing compared to this, we should from now on only spam this when skullz plays like shit (although writing -600k for monesy is still funny)
You dont know cs stfu@@Frogesh
I enjoy this type of analytical content. Thank you maui
600k for skullz is absolutely crazy, I bet you could've gotten some already established tier 1 players for the same price if not less. if i was Liquid i would've paid 150k max for skullz, 600k is way too much especially considering that's the same amount of money that G2 paid for m0nesy who happens to be pretty much the best player in the world right now
especially when jks costs nothing
@@chibifirestorm i believe jks wasnt a free agent bach then , but he is definitely a better pick rn as long as he doesnt have a problem playing the same spot he hated back in g2
@@chibifirestorm jks was oficially benched in february 2024 and skullz joined liquid in december 23 so he (oficially) wasnt available

Finally, the deep dive, let's fucking go
Shout-out to skullz for getting the bag 💰 Don't hate the player hate the game
Love the approach on this one, really helps add context to analytic reasoning that people don't get to see in other formats like Hot Take and Snake & Bants. Good shit
HTPM is pure entertainment above all else with reason behind takes. S&B is great for pushing new ideas into the space. Both are great but solo videos allow more time to go in depth
Maui curing my male loneliness despite not costreaming dallas, my goat

If Liquid break up the Cadian-Twistzz duo without putting real players around them I'm going to be pissed
NAF and Twistzz should go to Complexity to EliGE. This will be a cool reunion and I think this lineup can compete even in the confident top 3 of HLTV. It's not Liquid 2019, but very close.
But at the same time I love skullz replacement for HeavyGod. malbsMd would also be a good replacement for YEKINDAR as an entry fragger. He's a good and aggressive opener, he makes a big impact, he's young as hell and it's fully safe America region. Yes, he failed the tournament that is currently underway - IEM Dallas 2024. But damn, this season he is performing excellently.
Perfect Liquid team:
1. HeavyGod
2. NAF
3. Twistzz
4. malbsMd
5. cadiaN
-: idk why Xizt went to NiP. This may sound strange for some, but cadiaN can't normally call without Xizt. Okey, that's all
@@xman_rt no >:(
@@xman_rt lol heavygod malbs are tier 3 players at best , liquid deserve jks or s1mple if not get twistzz the fuck out and put on a good org
I guarantee he will go back to a full brazilian team and win a major way before Liquid wins a major
Maui I love your no BS approach to analysis of this game. As a guy who casually watches your streams and CSGO while working, you bring so much insight that I just don't have the time to dig into myself and it brings so much value and enjoyment to me man. Your personality and style can be polarizing because you're not afraid to say what you think and what you mean and I know you take heat for that, but I for one absolutely love it. Keep up the great work my friend.
The biggest meme is zews convincing TL to buy his Brazilian buddy for this much money (maybe some backdoor deals?). I can't prove it, but we all know how incestuous the Brazilian scene is. They all know each other, have deals etc.
Ngl i thought the same. 600k is crazy when jkaem costed 60k for bleed xd
Definitely.
@@kami-ks9fl600k for Skullz when Monesy was 600k and Niko is rumored to have cost G2 1 mil is insane
Goddamn Zews seemed like a nice guy HOW COULD HE DO IT!?
It is an unjustifiable number but remember that Apeks asked for 1,2M for Jkaem before the major, as Kassad mentioned recently. So the 600k price tag from before the market correction is not that outlandish all things considered @@kami-ks9fl
Great video, very analytical and objective, loved it! This is how you should have deep discussions into things :D
great video as al;ways i really like to listen to technical side of cs especially from you keep it up buddy
Amazing video and such a well-thought-out analysis of the various factors at play
Falcons almost beat Liquid on Anubis by just going A every round on T side because Skullz was there lmao. I don't think he ever got a multikill on the site.
Skullz really bad, Mb cadian gets upset with this kid 4v5 is not a joke.
ok u didnt wanna bully him by showing clips but u dropped a 19 min video with graphs and charts and well thought of thesis' on why he needs to be gone
i love it
great analysis maui.
The only thing I noticed about his flaw(s) is how he slips at watching his area. Making sure no one passes without him knowing it. Other than that, he seems to be a decent anchor from how I see it.
Banger.
Maui is wrong about skullz in cs:go. He was a real deal, but in cs2 is not doing well. I'm sure he doesn't have enough time watching to judge skullz in cs:go
Yeah! You're right
Just finished watching the liquid game. Skullz was definitely a limiting factor on dust although also Cadian had an awful map
i owe you an apology. You were right. Didnt want to see it, but i saw it all along. This just puts the nail in the coffin. -skullz
In the beginning you said that yeki was trying to overcompensate for the lack of aggression on the team, and he was underperforming because of that. That sounds like the exact position VP put him and, and that's where he hit his peak. Are you able to explain this? For the record I agree that him having to make up for the aggression is making him underperform, I just don't understand how he hit his peak in the same conditions unless he is still talking and thinking more than he was on VP
surfs up
Nice summary, thank you for vid
This maui guy is underrated i remember he was being clowned before as analyst in tournament, i think he needs to come back he is actually great
Imagine they had elige and kscerato in this team. No role clashes and your floor is measurably higher.
As for current options, malbs for yekindar and heavygod for skullz would be a very good set of moves IMO
great video mauisnack
This is great. I don’t play but I found your analytical approach very interesting.
m0nesy costs the same as skullz is the most insane part for me personally. M0nesy even before G2 was like a huge superstar even at academy level and everyone knew that he will be the big thing. g2 literally buyout m0nesy from NAVI, which is one of the biggest orgs. And liquid paid for skullz the same as g2 paid for the best player in the world right now...
I agree with your Yekindar comparison, in him feeling like him needing to make plays. However, at some point when do you say that isn't working and slow down the pace of play instead of giving constant 4v5s? Upon the pickup of Skullz, a lot of the community had questions. Did Liquid know something we didnt? It appears it was a reach and it is no working
can you do a tier list of teams? i wanna know your perspectives..
thats why mouz is going so crazy rn, they have 4 players willing to entry into anything
yall fr dont know how buyouts work. 600k is what his buyout was valued at by the team no one really knows how much they really paid for him. for example nawwk and jkaem were valued at over a million dollars just like skullz is valued at 600k, but bleed only paid 65k for each of the two. the value originally given is almost never the actual value paid. they couldve paid 600k for him but its doubtful
The vídeo guy is dumb
my eyetest is the hltv scoreboard and skullz is my goat after zywoo
PREACH MAUISNAKE PREACH
Now we need a Kye video.
Really nice video, agreed.
I assume if any sane man made a Rifler tier list then skullz would definitely be the F tier
My question is, should we start looking at buyouts locally instead of internationally? Similar to how in the first world, you wouldn't always prefer to employ a third world worker over a local worker even though the third world worker costs way less, theres value to considering guys like skullz separately to the wider player market, because he's an Americas player.
I feel like you're implying some kind of value in keeping work local when there's no kickback in the scene (the one about being an American team vanished a year ago and not mentioned publicly much). As long as you can play the AM RMR, most orgs in this region are happy.
swapping skulls for someone a lot better late round/defensively, or even a moderate bit more agressive to take some entry load off yekky makes a lot more sense. But liquid changed a lot of pieces at once, most of them are working as expected.
I feel like jks to liquid is a no brainer. Should get him on the team for skullz asap, would raise the floor of the team by a big margin. As for yekindar, used to watch a lot of his povs as he was one of the best space creators in cs but over the past few months he’s been struggling a lot, if you try and look over any close liquid L on inf/nuke/anc you’ll see him take control of the parts of the map he’s responsible for then over extend and die for no good reason. Happened A LOT, especially in key moments like 9-9s 10-10s and liquid ended up losing. Sometimes over aggression tends to hurt rather than help, thought he would’ve figured it out by now but it doesn’t seem to be the case hence why i think the bench would benefit both him and liquid.
Feels like he is trying to do too much himself....lack of trust in his teammates to have impact maybe???
As an OG fan, I would hate to see HeavyGod leave, but would completely understand it if he did. Feels like our project is trying to be how Mouz used to be, but both our recruitment and our coaching aren't as good as theirs (and maybe also our finances).
I mean you can look at when they huddle up before games, there is a noticeable uneasy feeling on Canadian’s face, yeki looks like his job is on the line if he doesn’t preform, naf and twists are like we know we not getting canned so we can play not so tensed. You can see skulls like hmmm what do they think of me as he sits in the corner trying to hide that he is an issue in the chain link as well. Think there has been disconnect since the jump and no one can seem to click for more than 8 rounds at time.
I think the choice of skullz was just dumb, too many passive riflers in the team. If they got someone like malbs, biguzera or insani type of player, who goes in trading the entryfragger and gaining space for the team it would be a more cohesive roster.
its more entertaining to hatewatch than to watch your favourite team win
we aint that different, you and i
dang this is some great analysis...changed my mind about skullz lol
Showing a chart of players who play the same positions as skullz doesn't 'debunk' that they are bad positions. It's proper to showcase other players in his role to illustrate his underperformance and/or under utilization of the positions. But that's like me showing a chart of how statistically worse other people are at s1mple's roles compared to s1mple to debunk that s1mple gets 'good' positions. Well, no, they are good positions, but comparing to the top will make your stats look terrible. So I can't use that argument to be like "this guy needs to get cut from his team because he plays these roles, and as you can see s1mple and zywoo and m0nesy are doing all this" when the average is far below those three players.
Not an attack or anything though, just a thought while I was listening and making breakfast. I think skullz has incredible mechanical skill, and I think he plays fights very well, he's great at situations where he has cover and 2 people to shoot. That being said it doesn't mean that he isn't an issue. There is very likely some experience issues and map/tactical awareness going on. There's clearly a lot going under the hood at Liquid camp, hopefully they make the right changes.
If you're in the bottom 6 of Top 50 players at your position, it's not the position, it's you. I can follow some of your argument but it's pretty irrelevant to the reality.
After his Dallas exit interview it sounds like cadian is already done
Still bummed out that someone vetoed Elige on Liquid. Elige has proven he’s still got the skills on CoL and now needs a better team.
To be fair when he was kicked he was struggling a lot and a shadow of his former self. He redeemed himslef in cs2.
Elige left of his own accord, he wasn't kicked.
well said bro
Skullz is the brazilian brazilian steel
I am not fully opposed to swapping out Skullz, but this team needs to also solve its entry problems. Whether it be JKS or Heavy God, they are still missing another aggressive player.
maui how would you feel if yekindar goes back to VP? idk i have been thinking about it and i think it could work out pretty well
FL1T: 🙃
yekindar to NAVI in place of iM
2:14
I agree. Especially because kills are not created equally in CS. A 3k on an eco or picking 2 exit frags is not the same as getting a clean opening kill on a gun round or closing out a 1v1
This is why s1mple at his peak is my GOAT. He not only put up ridiculous numbers but a lot of his frags were the most important ones to win the round
My analyst 🫡
Now we need to talk about floppy
The poloolop cultural impact is immense
I think the team performance overall has been super lackluster. As you say, Yeki is nowhere near what we expected/hoped for. When I watch them, they seem to throw so many high percentage rounds, which makes me think it’s a team/system/chemistry issue. I think he (and more importantly, the team) need more time to find their groove. That being said, I agree that other comparable alternatives would have been much much cheaper, and maybe made more sense. Not to mention that at this level, individuals can’t always expect the luxury of time to show their worth.
They're gonna have to decide by the player break if they want to stick with this lineup for the next major
w for the heavygoat prop
Zews is getting such a major pass for this lineup, guy's lineups underachieved after leaving liquid while they went on a historic run and we all call him an all time great coach. Gotta update that resume soon or he should be out as well, especially if he was involved with the skullz deal.
not only Skullz. Every game 2/3 of Skullz/Cadian/Yeki aren't showing up
We need to talk about kye too
Waiting for Maui to one day become a GM (that's ofc if hew even interested)
It's weird obviously cause JKS is obviously a better Lurker and Anchor in my opinion than Skullz who is a Young Gun, but Liquid did Confirmed that they need someone new who would wanted the WIN but no, his gameplay is questionable
It’s crazy how the #1 team rn is Mouz with every player besides Brollan being homegrown talent. Which means the best team in the world barely cost them anything. Then you have Skullz who cost 600k and can’t get even get a 1.0 rating
look at those deltoids
I just don't understand why they didn't go for malbz, a guy who's coming up since forever and dominant in t2 while being quite agressive
This just has zews written all over it and liquid got scammed
Nobody was hope un Skulls , But what about Marek?
I want more from Twistzz, he's doing good and sometimes great but I want a superstar Twistzz.
Ageeed but it’s going to be a tough for him to be that superstar when it’s just him and NAF dragging this team along. Hopefully they make some good changes and we see that superstar level from him again.
+JKS -Skullz
How to slurp heavygod, the video.
Woke up the wife early for this👏
Yeah at this point I don't think there's a single player that supports an entry role fragger like yekindar on liquid even twist is way to slow even if he is a high impact player his gameplay is more of a clutcher than someone running in to coin flip a one tap entry
On paper this team is very strong, it's hard to say why they aren't performing, right now complexity is better, to be real Liquid is the same ad Furia, they got the money, they got the star players, Naf = Kscerato, Skulls = Yurih or Chelo, Cadian = Fallen, on paper amazing, but, takes time, nobody has the recipe to be the champion, u have to keep trying until u get it, some Brazilians team are being a good example of that, Pain, Imperial and MIBR.
fuck it drop everyone and build around the canadians
Liquid Insani
Maui content the best but i feel like liquid and especially skullz is making him lose his mind slowly. So liquid please before that happens remove skullz please
It's not really a hot take to say that skullz was an urgent purchase from Liquid(through zews recommendations) to ensure an Americas spot, he's simply just not comfortable and it's been waaay too long to just say to "wait it out" unfortunately. Slightly unrelated but I do hope that cadiaN finds his AWPing form again because holy shit he has looked worse than NAF and Twistzz for quite a time to the point where I wish he would just buy himself an MP9 and give twistzz a rifle instead.
W
Juanflatroo should join Liquid since he is leaving BNE rn, would be a good quality added to the team
NO. 😂
Good vid, well explained, reddit will definitely hate it
yeki and skullz certified paycheck stealers
-yek -skullz +stew +jks is the dream
my only argument to this is that when liquid is falling apart, which is pretty much at some point in every match, skullz tends to be the only one getting anything done. would his stats be better if liquid wasnt such an inconsistent team. i dont know... sometimes skullz looks amazing, as in his aim is really good and fast. then other times he looks like a total newb.
either way it's clear that liquid has way more problems than just skullz...
His role is totally independent. Lurking and anchoring is what many of the other players (including replacements) have to do with no resources. Skullz may be able to output even with "liquid is falling apart," but he also outputs that same mediocrity in wins. It's team agnostic that he outputs at a subpar level per his positions.
Too bad that Liquid will probably miss HeavyGod too because there are some rumors that him and Keoz will join c9. Not 100% but still.
he is only in the team because zews want a Brazilian player
this isnt even a hot take, its him or Yek. Yek stopped doing the IGLing and never got back on track. Skulls at least had low expectations. - Post watching, great breakdown, i agree.
at the end of the day yakindar should have gotten the axe a long time ago its been almost 2yrs with his fall off with liquid and, there is no end in sight for his shit performance.
The worst thing about all off this is how this looks for zews, dude brought a tier 2 player into liquid. Worse than rainwaker 😂
JKS is a no brainer. But maybe money is the issue. I know nothing about player values but JKS is absolutely worth it imo.
Hilarious that anyone could watch these games and think "yeah gotta kick cadian and yekindar"
Just hilarious when skullz is 5-13 every map
Twistzz left faze for this
I really honestly don't get the yekindar hate, he's absolutely not as good as he once was, but he's also in a completely impossible position in this roster. I can't fathom pinning the blame on him. Skullz needs to go, and cadian is almost certainly gone. Yeki/Naf/Twistzz absolutely have insane value as a trio.
