What advice would you give to rich kids?

    • @DianasReviews
      @DianasReviews 5 місяців тому +18

Try to see the point of view from others perspectives. The truth is a few are born into wealth while the majority are not. With great wealth should come with great humane responsibility beyond the human ego of acquiring “things”. You were given a chance to do something great for this planet and all of its inhabitants… then why are you in a shopping mall and not building water wells?

An advice from me would be to stay more focused on plastic on the ocean. Those micro particles could extinc us all, even tigers and other wild animals that are not near citys have gotten sick. Most rich people are less conected with the people, but if we disapear, the industries work will suffer AI, still a unpredictable tech that could overcome even the rich, then if AI doesn't work the rich people will need to do the hard work.

      Ignore envy and live well.
Many poor(er) people will try to pretend they are you or dislike you because they can't. Some poorer people look to you (or your parents) for guidance. Be sure to behave appropriately.
The best thing you can do is inspire others to overcome the challenges necessary to join high society (hard work, making connections, creating beauty).

      "If you can't buy happiness,
you're spending it wrong or you don't have enough."
This is a quote I heard from somewhere, and I agree with it.
You can buy life experiences with money. Food, travel, get your family a better life, treat your friends to good food or good gifts.
Granted you can do still do all those now, but you'd still be needing money.

I thought that I would share my experience a bit.
Now mind you my family is not very rich, at least not anymore because the industry my parents were in mostly dried up in 2008, along with more artistic practices, but because of their hard work I got a pretty privileged childhood which I didn't realize I had until recently.
I got to go to a small Montessori school in the heart of my city, but this school instead of just being filled with the rich parents that work in finance and just want to put their kid in private school, was filled with parents that were top professors at some of the best universities in the world, amazing artists and musicians, business owners from tons of diverse industries, people like that. Basically a hidden gem of a school that valued creativity, freedom, art, leadership, and kindness. It isn't well known, hardly on any lists of top private schools, but those who went to it and know about it know.
And so thanks to that I grew up with kids and their parents who valued 'culture', and so I went to museums, art galleries, and parks constantly, and also grew up in a house that valued learning and art (as artists themselves). I then went to public school after a few years of private so that I could expand my social circle.
All of this to say that while my family went from pretty wealthy to not as much anymore, and the experiences and mannerisms are still ingrained in my childhood and in my mind, and so I never quite fit in anywhere, not with those who grew up struggling to make ends meet, and not with rich kids that can afford anything they want. It's a strange in between but I wouldn't change it for the world, and that thankfully I can share my experience with my soon to be fiance who went through a very very similar experience.
I'm glad that I got the 'rich kid' experiences that I got as a kid, and I'm glad that I have had multiple jobs and have earned the things that I have and have created a small fund of investments which I'm trying not to sell while in university, while also paying for it mostly myself. I would love to hear if anyone else went through a similar experience, or to just share yours here!
All the best and have a great day everyone!

I do not share the same experience. Because my background basically only includes financial struggle.
So I’m curious about the mannerisms and the mindsets of rich people. Can you tell me a little more about what you learned from the financial privileged?

@@calvados7754 I definitely learned just how much people would go to make sure their kids would become leaders in the future and how much they emphasized creativity and learning for the sake of learning, something I found was different when I went to my public schools after Montessori, where I found that most kids didn't want to be there and just disliked school, for the most part anyways. Basically it seemed like they were setting their kids up for success from a very young age by giving them that kind of education.
A few other random things, their houses were awesome! They had massive houses that looked basically like castles, trampolines, living rooms the size of houses with balconies looking down from the second floor, things like that, which was awesome as a kid. We were moderately wealthy and could mostly buy the things that we wanted during that time but not to that extreme, and we had a much smaller home too which I loved. Real estate in our city was and still is crazy though so the fact they were downtown with a house like that is interesting to think about sometimes. Not all of them were that big of course, but in my early childhood I only knew one person or maybe two that lived in an apartment, and I thought it was so cool to live in such a big building.
They also really value quality items, and nothing flashy. I know the whole 'quiet luxury' trend has been going around right now, but in a lot of ways that's true, people just wore nicer fibers that were well made and would last much longer if cared for and repaired. Now days I of course buy my own clothes, and I still have that mindset of saving up to buy nicer materials and quality for my clothes, and having fewer, higher quality clothes that will last me decades if cared for.
Cursive is also big, everyone I knew wrote in cursive handwriting and we were taught that first. When I went to public school, I had to relearn how to write in print which was really difficult for me, and my handwriting was really bad up until I was 17 or 18 and I went back to cursive. Also they definitely read a lot.
Overall they were also some of the nicest, kindest, most genuine and generous people you could ever meet. That might have had something to do with the school I went to more than anything, but my parents told me recently that whenever they would go to the school parties where all the parents and teachers would have drinks, talk to eachother, and bid on different items us kids made together, apparently everyone was just fascinated with one another's jobs and just really curious about eachother. My dad for example brought a professor and professional biochemist to his photography studio and was amazed to see how the process worked. They were all really curious and lifelong learners, which I would say is the biggest difference at least on average, they all absolutely loved to learn and expand their worldview and knowledge.
Something I wanted to add in an edit, I think anyone can have a 'wealthy mindset', (I have no way else to put it lol) where if you love learning and creativity, value caring for your items, and things like that. You don't have to be wealthy to have that sort of mindset, it was just emphasized earlier on so there was a bigger proportion of kids who were like that and grew up like that.
Let me know if you have anything else you wanted to ask I would be happy to share with you! Have a good day!

@@calvados7754 Sorry, I wrote a response but the comment didn't send properly.
I would say the main thing is how much the valued education, and at least in my families circle, the type of education that allows for creative thinking and knowledge about culture.
I would also say that everyone spoke formally. Not fully formally but they all spoke very well and had large vocabularies, which I felt pressured into not using when I grew up and went to public school. We were also taught cursive first and not printing, which I had to learn later in public school and the last few years have switched back to cursive as I'm now in university.
As well, everyone at least in my circle was incredibly humble, despite having massive houses that looked like castles in the middle of one of the most expensive cities in the world. They were always very kind and always carried themselves with a sense of approachability and friendliness, again this might just be because of the circles I was in, that being creatives, artists, small (ish) business owners, professors, etc.
Vacations were also common for most, as well as getting pretty much anything you asked for during Christmas minus some exceptions. I would also say that the stereotype somewhat holds up when it comes to buying well made clothing with no or little logos on them, which is now trending as "quite luxury", which in reality is just how people dressed in the past, you buy well made clothes that you repair and take good care of so you have them for a very long time!
I'm not remembering everything that I wrote before in my past comment but that's a few more things!

Similarly any gathering I have not only is a good time for everyone but it helps everyone come to a place where they can exchange help/needs wants. If you win socially, you can win at anything. This is AMAZING. Not only is the setup great, the whole theme - which feels like I'm invited to a rich kid's private inner circle initiation party - but you also bring everything in such a respectful manner. I find it quite horrible how rich people receive so much hate, criticism and judgement from people who are not living a wealthy life. It's not the fault of the rich that people are broke and struggling, yet they still choose to be a mad hater instead of doing something about it. Everything is a choice after all and choosing to live a miserable and unhappy life will only cause you to remain broke in more ways than just financially. While rich kids may be blessed and more privileged than most people, too many non-rich people forget to appreciate their own blessings. Great video, I'm looking forward to the next episodes!

@@verano21 Poverty IS a choice indeed. Do you know how many people have very little but still are grateful for their blessings and therefore they feel content? Meanwhile there are people who are extremely rich but they live in poverty because they focus on what lacks in their lives instead of focusing on what they have. There are plenty of studies about how your mindset can shift your reality. Your thoughts literally can shape your entire life. No matter how much you own, how much money you have or what your life looks like, plenty of people are poor because they choose to think poor. Their poverty is a result of their lack of effort, awareness and gratefulness. No matter the perspective you have in life, it's undeniable that everyone can be rich just as everyone can be poor. It's all about your mindset and what you do about it. You don't always have to be financially rich to be rich and I think that's the wonderful thing about humans: we all have a choice.

    • @verano21
      @verano21 4 місяці тому +6

@YadeTheGemini I see where you're coming from, and discussing spiritual wealth/poverty is an entirely different topic. Still, I wouldn't say that material poverty is due to a lack of effort on the part of poor people, some of whom have to work multiple jobs just to survive, pay rent, food, college, etc. To me it is hybris to tell these people that they should "try harder" or that its their fault and they should just be grateful for their situation even if they dont know if they will get a job while being 100k in debt (Im exaggerating here).
The myth of choice is perpetuated by people who have a choice in how they live their lives because (surprise) they have money, which buys them freedom, which gives them choice. Do people who work 12+ hours a day to survive really have a choice to change their lives? Should they intellectually reform neoliberalism and its ideological effects on modern consumer capitalism in their spare time? Or would trying to change the system not also make them a "mad hater" as you put it? And the rich are perfectly responsible for this, because instead of redistributing their wealth, they use it to accumulate more wealth. Why not use Stanford graduates to change the system, instead they get hired by corporations that make the rich even richer. And they send their children to elite colleges to ensure their children's wealth. It's a closed cycle for the .1% that no one can get into or break. Telling people they should be grateful for living in poverty, and thus giving them a moral superiority over the rich because the rich are morally poor, is the exact same mechanism that religions used on peasants for hundreds of years to secure their position of power: if you can't afford to live, in God's will, your suffering on earth will get you into paradise in the afterlife. Nietzsche had a term for this: slave morality - the ultimate enemy of human flourishing.

I think in part it's because struggle truly can give a person so much - it does put things into perspective, and overcoming a struggle is an ultimate power rush. Especially if it's a struggle to survive. But as much as it can give you, it can take just as much or more. And in part people romanticizing struggle because they can't avoid it, so it has to have some worth, right?

I see a lot of people who want to become rich so that they can give their future family a head start but then shame rich kids. Ma'am/Sir that could be your own child one day. It's ironic. I'm not rich, but my parents have always worked hard to provide everything for my brothers and I. One thing I love about them is that they say "I work hard so that I can provide for you so why not spend the money?" This, in return, made us even more responsible because we value the hard work and thoughtfulness of our parents.

I was considered a rich kid and I'm Asian. We are kept grounded since we were kids and exposed to charity work early on. I received allowance even way after college but i was able to save, have my own business and run it. Now that I'm older and have my own kids, they have a trust fund but I am making they are experiencing having to work in an actual workplace and no need for an allowance since they have their trust fund and their own jobs.

Istg if this is satire I’ll do a flip
But seriously this channel is an amazing concept & I wouldn’t say that I’m rich but rather upper middle class, even still this is fun to watch.
Have you ever thought of doing a netflix series? That would be a banger.
    Anyways thanks for reading

The good thing about living off of larger amounts of money is you won’t be shocked or making bad decisions when you finally inherit even larger amounts of money. This is sort of like how in some cultures parents give kids tablespoons of vodka so that when they’re of an age where they can drink they don’t go crazy with alcohol.

You could spend the money you use on goods to support people who may not be able to chase their dreams, if that’s something that touches you. It’s not a guilt trip, but what if you invest in someone talented who might not share your luck?

I am curious about what your parents are insisting on for you, as far as legacy, and managing the new found wealth that they have managed to gain for your family? Like, will this lifestyle be able to last beyond your generation? Also, what do they have to say about dating and marriage?

I enjoy clothes...but even in the rich boutiques...the quality can be exaggerated...the clothes that my mom has from the 1990s is way better than what i see at these stores...clothes made with love... the modern clothes is missing something....I just do not know what it is..I need motivation to study...to change who i am internally...i am not look for external wealth...i want inside wealth
