- Touring a $350,000 Townhouse In Nuuk, Greenland. Join me in this video where I show Greenlandic real estate from the inside and how a fairly typical townhouse looks like up here in the Arctic.
What does $350,000 really get you in the capital of Greenland? It gives 83m2 of space, on two storeys, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath and an astonishing view over mountains and the sea.
Unfortunately the igloos have gotten out of fashion up here and has been replaced with modern housing, which in my opinion also is a lot more comfortable.
Sleeping in igloos is simply too cold, trust me.... Its cold...

I've dreamed of visiting Greenland since I was a little kid and would look at maps and imagine what it was like. Two days ago I finally bought my plane tickets! Four nights in Reykjavik, four nights in Nuuk. I can't wait!!!
Daamn!
Thats awesome! I hope you get a nice stay!
I also look forward to july, we are hopefully going to Mallorca and get some sun amd beaches😆😁😎
So cool!!! I hope you have an absolute blast what a neat adventure you have coming up
How was your trip to Greenland
@@DavidIrthum It was awesome. I posted some videos of it on my channel.
I discovered you by accident. I first began watching your airport. Your country looks beautiful and you have a nice home. I'll enjoy Greenland from my computer in sunny and warm Arizona, USA.
Hehe! Sunny and warm sounds nice at the moment! 😎
OMG I live in Arizona aswell! This year I feel like Christmas was warm
it is my dream to visit Greenland, love from the Scottish Highlands ❤️
Hope you get to see it one day!
Me too, also from scotland.
and me.......love from Ireland ☘️☘️☘️☘️
@Kuwi And it’s my dream to visit the Scottish Highlands😊
Love your Greenland living channel! I am currently binging and living through you! Much love from Virginia, USA ✨.
Glad you like it! Hehe, hope you get to go out a little yourself, hopefully soon!
Amazing home , always interested in Greenland 💯💯💯 greetings from Salt Lake City, Utah U.S.A
Hey Haviar!
Thanks a lot, hope you doing great in Utah!😁
Thanks for the tour! I like your view quite a bit! You also have a very calming voice...peaceful video!
I like the view as well!
Hehe, hooefully not so calming as you fell asleep😉
I'd be terrified about sleep walking out that French door, lol.
Hehe, I have had a couple people say that😅
So far no one in this complex has had accidents since 2012, so guess its safe enough😉
Thanks for the tour! Beautiful home! I hope you got your balcony
Great video and home. Amazing how a 10 minute video leads to hours of research on the Google. On my virtual drives around Nuuk I am always impressed by the lack of power lines as I always find them somewhat unsightly regardless of the country or city (or the street outside my home.) It was the heating system in your home that triggered my interest. Amazed to discover its a city-wide central heating system, something that I thought was mostly found in big cities with a central plant heating several buildings. That of course led to how the whole infrastructure system is put together there and even more amazed how it along with the power lines are all buried. Many challenges living in artic.
Thanks and Im glad the video gave some insights into life here in the cold north.
Yes, power lines are being dug down, as well as water, sewage and district heating pipes. District heating systems are only found where it makes sense, as a lot of single family houses run on oil, but Nukissiorfiit (national utilities company) is slowly investing in district heating infrastructure for areas of economic viability (larger apartment blocs etc).
I hope you get that balcony soon!! Cool place, thank you for sharing!
Thanks!
Just found your channel after randomly thinking about Greenland. Love the content!
Well, Google knows what you are thinking....😉
cool place ....your view from upstairs is amazing...greetings from North Carolina
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the tour!
Awesome 👍 . Great house .. I am very much interested in Greenland from my childhood .. may be once I would get a chance to visit there...
Thanks!
Well, Greenland is a country not talked about very much, only the cliche things such as polar bears and melting icecap. Always good to go see things yourself and I totally think you should visit if you get a chance! 😄
stay where you are, nobody need you here
Greetings from North Carolina...was talking with my drummer about Greenland last night...
Man, I would head there in a heartbeat....great video! Intriguing place!
Like your starting line: "my drummer"...😄 But yes, Greenland is a little weird place, but its also very calming and peaceful. Stay safe🙂
Fantastic view! The Nature on Greenland is totally AWESOME!!!
Yes, its really something!
Great video of your beautiful home Alex..thanks for Sharing ..(I'm in Melbourne Australia)

Thanks man!
Very nice home. I think it’s cozy and I could certainly be okay living in a home with that floor plan. Thanks for the tour. 👍
Its a cosy little house😎
wow..you are so lucky. the view is mesmerizing
Yup, a balcony would be nice though😉
Hello from Horse Cave, Kentucky. Nice video. I like the minimalist life you appear to have there. Appears you are very good in managing your finances. Interesting path the sun travels up there. Would be an interesting place to visit.
Yup, im fairly minimal in my decoration😅
In the winter it is barely rising over the horizon and in summer it is barely setting. It is the world of extremes..😆
Thank you 🙏 for sharing this Greetings from south side of Chicago
No problem😁
LOVE the view!! Definitely get a balcony!
I live in Alberta Canada and we have many days of -40C and a long dark depressing winter.. I would rather live in a bright sunny place, I know many people see your view as being beautiful but I see it as cold and depressing!! Lol!! But each to their own and I’m happy for you that you love your country and see the beauty in it!!!
So true, once you know the insider information of how life really is. I also love the sun, so hopefully in a couple of years I will get a small place in Spain.😎
I am soon cruising to Greenland. I hope you residents don't mind the cruise ships! Loved seeing your house. Is it up to you to build the balcony or is that something that the builder will eventually do? I love your videos and they have given me an appreciation for your country and way of life. Now I want to plan a return trip to see the Northern lights.
So nice and clean. Looks great!
Thank you😁
wow is such an interesting video, Greenland is so mysterious, greetings from México
Thanks!
Such a nice video, you have a beautiful house, and Greenland is a lovely place that somehow managed to get my attention quite a lot lately! Greetings from Romania :)
Thanks Bogdan! Hehe, its sometimes funny what you get showing up on your UA-cam searches... ;-)
@@AlexAmasaOlsen haha well, I surely do search a lot of videos about Greenland and the Nordic countries, so yeah lol
It's my dream to visit Greenland. Idk why I like it so much😁. Btw great video Alex!
Greetings from New Delhi, India !
India is far away, but if its your dream, definitely go for a visit in Greenland!
Great video. Thanks, from Chicago
Hello Chicago!😄
What a good house setup. Very impressive. A balcony would be grand but the windows are good too, such a beautiful view and scape
I really love my view as well :-)
@@AlexAmasaOlsen your country it's nice can you give me some guard line on how to Apply form Dubai to Greenland
Nice view of the balcony!

I enjoy it as well😁
Your documentation is perfect, I cannot complain about a thing. I like the townhouse you live in and I thought it's kinda cozy especially in the living room. The view out the window... THE VIEW!😍
PLUS, I LOVE THE SHADE OF COLOR BLUE painted in the house!! Lastly, is that ukulele lying on your bed?
Nicely done, Alex. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
For the blue color I wanted to have an accent color with all the whites, I will also get some more pictures on the walls eventually..
Yes, thats an ukulele

Very nice home. With some artwork or indoor plants (fake or real) it would look more quaint. Thank you for sharing.
Nice home! Where we live the front is large area as well due to constant snow and Ice called an Arctic Entry 😎🥶
Yes, having a large entrance is good!
Nice to see the largest island of the world, Greenland and the capital Nuuk, nice video
From Philippines 🇵🇭
Thanks😎😊
I have friends that were stationed there because they were in the military and they loved seeing the Northern Lights.
Greenland is amazing and what a beautiful house you have
Thanks Adam! I must put some more art/picture on the walls though 😉😊
Interesting video and I like your sense of humor ;))
Hehe, thanks😊
Very nice tour. Saludos amigo from Mexico
Salud!
It looks very cozy
Thanks!😊
It's a very pretty but gentle landscape and the snow makes it so soft. My sister went to Greenland a few times and I thought she was silly. I am so sorry for judging. What a beautiful place; & a townhouse with such a view for cheap (we live in California). I did take all her Greenland pictures and books when she passed, now I can see why I wanted them.
I guess comparing californian houseprices to anywhere, would be a mistake...😅
But yes its nice, miss the sun sometimes though😎
@@AlexAmasaOlsen californians moving here made the rent go up like 300% in my city :(
Wow... The view... Paradisisk!
Paradisisk😆😄
Very nice tour. Heated floors are a rarity in the US, but I guess the temperatures call for it. Anything run on gas, or is all electric? And yes, the view is phenomenal!
Heated bathroom floors are the best😆
Heating of houses are either oil or electricity. No propane as some houses in the US have.
Loan: $1030
HOA: 140
Utilities: 220
Total: 1390
You rent out 2 rooms
1200x2 = 2400
Man, youre smart. Life is easier when we are smart. I like you man. Hugs from the Philippines. Gracias.
$1200 to rent out one room with a shared bathroom? That’s a lot.
Hey thanks for the awesome tour! How fast is your internet over there? You get fiber?
I get 30/10mbps, so not as fast as in Europe..
Great video. I wish I can travel directly from here (NJ) to Greenland. My dream is to visit one day Greenland. 3 years ago, I travelled to the PH and I flew over Greenland at 5am and it was amazing, I was like 41,000 feet high and all I can see from that far is grey (cuz of the snow and ice) and some mountains, and a beautiful dim sunlight below the horizon. Because the airplane flew into the unhabited interior part of Greenland, all was ice. That part was unforgetable. I still have the images save in my phone. I remember texting to my crush "am flying over Greenland now close to the North Pole!". That was unforgetable. Nice memories.
Yes the ice is pretty magical and vast!
But hope you get to experience Greenland and the nature here is amazing😁
Beautiful house, i have visited a couple houses in Nuuk, i fished there for 3 seasons, & would land in Nuuk to unload, Beautiful city with beautiful friendly people,
Awesome! You worked for Polar Seafood or Royal Greenland?
That's a very nice home. I like it.
Thanks! Hopefully the first of many😉
5:11 i fully agree.....bigger window is mandatory to fully enjoy the views :)
Yes! But my pocket doesnt like the idea...😉

I like your video style a lot. They kinda funny in a strange way ^^ Have you always lived in Greenland? Cause I'm getting a danish vibe from you (I'm aware that greenland is part of Denmark)
Hehe, im slowly trying to find my style😉
Nope not always, been back and fourth between Denmark and Greenland. So yes, im 75% danish, that might be why😉
Excellent
😎
Beautiful house
Thank you!😎
The view is pretty spectacular
I enjoy it as well😁
@@AlexAmasaOlsen I see why
Iam from India far away from green land.but loved every bit of your House having all the amenities it s a perfect home
Thanks!
views amazing
Yup!🇬🇱
Thanks for showing us your lovely home. I'm surprised how much light there is given the time of year. How are power and heating generated in Greenland?
Thanks!
In Nuuk we have hydropower generating all electricity and some district heating, using electric boilers.
For other houses, its usually heated using an oil furnace. But heatpumps are getting more popular, so it could run more on hydropower
Waooo beautiful place
Thanks!
Very nice place to live, I'm a little worried about going out the back door without a balcony. How high off the ground is it from your back door? Thank you for sharing your very cool home.
The balcony door is about 3m above the ground, but there is a safety enclosure, it is just transparent plastic.
I like how quiet it is.
It is😊
It's nice to see a house tour of Nuuk. I've been wanted to spend a year or two in Nuuk to see different shades of nature. Bring from India I cannot imagine sun going down so early.
You welcome!
We definitely have beautiful nature, but winterd without sun, can definitely be a challenge to people who are used to a lot of sun. Some people get winter depressed, just because of lack of daylight....
What is the coldest temperature there.
What is the hottest temperature there.
Very nice video.✅ I love cold weather.
Cheers from Florida USA
In Nuuk, we can get minus 20-25 degrees celcius during winter and plus 20 degrees celcius in summer
I can’t get over the fact he has a t-shirt in December while there is snow outside 🥶
It was only for the intro...😅
Good video.
Thanks!
I love is video and I wood love to visit greenland
When the pandemic is over you definitely should. Spring and summer is best!
I definitely will visit greenland when the pandemic is over I love Greenland
Thanks for sharing your home. Is it typical to have the living room upstairs? Are there many single women to meet? I would think not. Any pubs to hang out?
Great home I envy you living in greenland
Well thanks! Were are you living?

Thank u Alex..I hope u will keep happy....the house is lovely...have u lived in other countries like Iceland or Denmark or UK
Hi Chris, yes I have lived in Denmark, USA and Australia before.
@@AlexAmasaOlsen wow I'm surprised that you would have preferred Australia..so going from a hot country to a cold country. But I guess work is a big factor.
@@chrishannon8187 Yes, I got my first real job in Greenland. Tha was pretty much what made me move here again.

A good place for writing
I would get a balcony with a small hot tub might be really pricy though amazing walkthrough tho :)
Oh yes!
Actually have been thinking about it. But yet to inquire a price from a contractor😅
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Are dryers common in Greenland? It saves the space you need for drying your laundry. Not to mention the time.
Was in Greenland a few years ago. It was amazing! Still miss the stegt and frikadeller in Nuuk and all the ice in Ilulissat.
Dryers are fairly common, I just dont have the space for it in my house😅
Nice, hope you enjoyed your stay. And lets hope the world opens up again soon....
I really want to one day own a summer house in Greenland since I can't stand heat.
Hehe, then it is a good choice.
Ditto!!!
Hola amigo, that’s a very nice home you have.
Thanks!
I am very happy with it too😊
How are property taxes like in Nuuk?
No property taxes here.😁 But you cant own land either, you just get an area permit.
Nice video 👍👍👍watching from Kerala (India)..
Thanks Pramod😁😁
Wow such a beautiful view...lol ur finger @ 4:14 looked photoshopped 🤣✌🏽👍🏽
Oh well.. Its a real finger😅😅
HEY Alex, this is the 1st video that I come across about Greenland and so, I live in the USA and I'm looking for a country to move to, I'm looking at Canada, Iceland, Alaska(US), and some Scandinavian countries as well. I am a professional engineer, have you made a video about cost of living, wages for professionals, what do one need to become a resident or a citizen etc. You know, things of that nature. Thx and God bless.
I have a video about cost of living, feel free to check it out on my channel.
In regards to wages as an engineer, you can expect anything from roughly $6k a month, more if you have experience.
I guess I should make a video about residency in Greenland, but here is a link:

Amazing video👍
Superb
Love from NILAMBUR safari❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
I love it!
What kind of jobs do they have there?
Uh, a lot of different jobs... Normal jobs which make a society run around. Really depends what you are looking for and your work/academic background...
@@AlexAmasaOlsen Im a truck driver in the US.
I'm glad you have a Moka, the italian coffee pot. Hi from Sicily, Italy
B.T.W. this summer was one of the hottest of the last years, we had the highest temperature in Europe, 48,8 C°
Hehe, gotta have one of those!

A little too hot I would say😅
@@AlexAmasaOlsen maybe one day, due to the climate change, also Greenland will have that value of temperature! 😆
@@AlessandroFerraraPA Hehe, I hope not...
@@AlexAmasaOlsen 😆👍
@@AlexAmasaOlsen yes, you're right
wow what's the feeling living in such a remote town?
Sometimes nice, sometimes you need to go on vacation😅
But we got a boat now, so definitely a lot better now than without😊
I have been so fascinated with Greenland maybe I could move to Nuuk. Tips?
Really a question of which country you come from. As people from the EU have easier access permit wise. And if you are looking for a job, make sure you get housing as part of your contract, as especially in Nuuk, the housing market is pretty glowing hot right now.
Greenland is pretty chill and larger towns has all modern amenities.
@@AlexAmasaOlsen yeah I was thinking about Nuuk as well if i where to come visit or live there for a while it’s kind of just right not empty but not to populated. Also I really like your videos it so interesting to learn more about Greenland and what it’s like there I got a recommendation for a documentary about life at Greenland and I’m hooked.
@@starry0542 Hehe, yes it definitely is different to live here in regards to some aspects (travels and isolation). But I like it so far and see possibilities.

A late: "Thats awesome!" your comment was held for spam review😆😅😁
That view though! Even if a Juliette balcony is almost as good for just getting fresh air. I have a small deck outside my second story but because it has no privacy I rarely use it. Plus the tobacco smoke from the neighbours interferes with my cannabis vape sessions.. no bueno!
If that last comment didn't give it away, why yes I am Canadian! From the foothills of Alberta west of the capital...
nice mate, a 3 bedroom house in Sydney, Australia is about 2 million dollareedoos

Awesome house! Just out of curiosity... why no closets?
There are closets in the lower two bedrooms, but I removed the closet upstairs to get more space

What are the red stars hanging from the windows? I've never seen it before but I saw it on another Greenlander's channel
Its a Christmas tradition we have here in Greenland, pretty much everybody has atleast one star in their windows😄
As far as I remember it represents the guiding star from christianity. But nowadays it really just adds to the cosiness of the dark december time.
I also noticed it and was interested in these stars
@@AlexAmasaOlsen It's also a popular thing people do in Berlin, I think most people get them at Ikea! I almost feel like I'm in a competition with my neighbors for the biggest star!
That's a nice place and very spacious but it sounds very expensive for a town the size of Nuuk. I guess all the building materials have to be imported.
Yes, low interest rates and housing demand have blown up prices.. And almost everything is imported in Greeenland😆
What type of vehicles you drive over there since you guys get a lot of snow and ice? I'm just curious I seen that truck outside but I'm just curious what type of vehicles work the best, I'm thinking about moving to your country.
Mostly cars with fourwheel drive, but there are all types of cars here in Nuuk. It helps being a 4x4 truck though...
