They're some great tips. Back a few years ago, I used to travel with my father in the lorry over to Britain during the summer holidays and other school holidays. We used to do tramping from usually Sunday night or Monday morning to Friday night (depending on hours and weekly rest periods). I loved going down the motorways and main roads of Britain and Ireland. I would help him uncouple and couple trailers where I could and help him strap and unstrap loads. Almost any opportunity I could, I would give him a hand. I really enjoyed it. I was heart broken when the company my father worked for stopped passengers going in the lorries (this was part of the reason I got bad depression). I love the open road and I am in the process of getting the rigid (and hopefully the artic). I hear people telling me not to get into lorry driving, but there is nothing else I would do. I prefer to be on my own and be out and about.
I took my class one at 21 and it’s given me a good life I’m 50 now used to do Spain back in the day I just work 4 night shifts a week now Average 35-40 hours a week still wouldn’t do any other job. Great vlogs buddy keep them coming
Great advice! Thank you!
I've been tramping for 5 years and you said exactly what I would have said mate!
Hello. Deady has sent me to your channel 👍 great stuff and decent advice
Cheers buddy. Welcome along.
Thank you for the top tips Paul I hope you're well bud take care and catch up with you next week my good man
Also I can add a tip some lay-bys have lady’s that can entertain you for a small fee but just becarefull that they are ladies 🙈 a soon as you park up shut your curtains and get a pee bottle don’t leave the cab or open your curtains until morning 👍
Brilliant vlog , very informative and for those starting out , it’s things they possibly would not be thinking about , well done , great idea for a vlog , on the flip side pink works wonders , I’ll get some for my sons school shoes , keep em coming
Great tips bud look forward to the next vlog
Thanks for your 5 tips. All taken on board 👍
Great vlog some great info keep up the good work and keep them coming be safe mate
Great vlog as always mate
Good luck with whatever you decide mate. Keep safe buddy.👍👌
Nice one Paul . Some good points on a drivers life on the road tramping . If you let it it’s easy to slip into some bad habits whether at home or away . Enough exercise with healthy eating .
I've been tramping 20 years. Security of yourself is main one. Don't go out if someone is robbing your load. It's insured and these bustards have knives. Your a driver ,not a security guard.your firm pay you to get from A to B.
Great vlog very interesting info thanks for the 5 tips.👊
Good Vid as always mate keep up the good work
Hi mate, nice interesting and a different vlog from you this week. I like your top five, glad you mentioned personal entertainment as it can be a very lonely job at times. Wish the Internet and sat nav were about in my day, and automatic trucks! My left knew is shot to pieces using a clutch so much. 😅 😂
Quality vid mate! I will deffo be using these tips moving forward!!
Cheers!
Moving forward mate? You showing off now? Haha.
That's some excellent top tips tip 2 is definitely a hard one to do I was 26st at one point I'm now down to 21at coz I ate junk whilst driving
Good honest review. 👍
Dude I’m with you with the shoes. 1st thing I look at too.
Thank you!
some good tip mate gary from crewe
Good tips mate
Get a Amazon prime around load up your tablet with movies or tv series at home with your wifi then watch them in your truck so you dont use any of your data that way I do this every week
Brilliant video mate thank you!!! Starting my class 1 training a week tomorrow and I cannot wait! Any tips from an experienced driver are massively helpful!
Hi Tom. Appreciate the support. My top tip on taking your test is not to stress over it. If you were to fail first time, it's not the end of the world and you can always retake it. Biggest hassle in the job is other drivers. Make sure you check and check again all your mirrors and blinds pots before making a manoeuvre. It's amazing where you can have a vehicle hiding somewhere around your truck
@@Witteringtrucker thank you mate!!! I'll definitely keep all that in mind! Really appreciate it!
Your welcome. Good luck with it and let me know how you get on.
@@Witteringtrucker will do mate cheers 👌👌
@@Witteringtrucker had my test today mate and I passed 😁 so happy. Only had 1 minor too :)
The only tip. For new drivers is save you’re money and stay clear of HGV 🙈
Yeah not a bad shout that pal. 🤣🤣🤣
👍👍👍
Ah , the drinking culture. When Rugby Truckstop ( Now Stobarts ) lost all of the Irlams Transport drivers parking there ( Remember them ) . The bar receipts inside the Truckstop went down by £200 a week . Also , if you have a Forgien driver standing next to you stinking of Garlic , they are probably over the limit and the Garlic is to hide the smell of Alcohol.
Some great tips there. This vids slightly put my mind at ease as I’m thinking about getting into tramping. Are you ex military? As you have extremely high standards.
Hi Ben. I'm ex TA. Tramping is very hard when you first start but you either learn to love it, tolerate it or simply stop doing it. Personally, I love it.
Don't be jealous of us that can eat loads and stay thin! The fat still goes somewhere. Instead of into your fatty layers, it goes into your arteries.
Honest opinion didn't mention parking nightmare.
How much do you have to pay to park in the service station over night? Does the driver pay from his pocket or company
Anywhere between £25 and £35 a night. 🙄🙄🙄
And depends on the company. Some expect the driver to pay it then claim it back.
We should get paid for every minute of the day so night out not just £25 I pay for my home so I can sleep there live there so if you put me out I want to be paid for it
Hope you have wittering truckers permission to use these videos
It's not a job more a way of life
Hi mate! minimize background music please! Thank you!
Hey bud. This is from a while ago and my 'skills' have improved somewhat since. Hopefully my more recent videos are better quality.
Can you settle this argument ate your deadys dad biological I mean 😂
