Hi Tom,just havin a laugh, i am 71 yrs you " KIDS " 😊 are so lucky with todays tech satnavs ,mobile phones laptops etc .Back in my days all we had were maps and big city street maps, most towns we had to stop and ask people for directions the people we use to look out for were Policeman,Postmen, and Milkmen do you know what a Milkman is he he sorry mate.I learned very quick not to ask women they would say O YES go down here turn right left etc etc and when i followed their instructions i found myself often up a deadend or a one way street not good when you already committed to turn and someone is up you'r arse 🤢.Exellent advice overnight on industrial estates 👌.I am enjoying you'r vlogs .
Loved you comment about ordering takeaways. I've been working for Just Eat for nearly a year now, and have definitely had my fair share of truck stop deliveries.
If you ever in the south east of England I highly recommend Ashford international truck stop. Very secure, facility’s are clean and they have a cracking truck wash.
Tbh this country is ridiculous for the way we treat truckers. We should have better quality at a much cheaper price for drivers that provide a vital service. It's an embarrassing situation in the UK.
I've been tramping 30 years. My advice if you stay in a lay-by is wind your trailor legs down and pull the tractor unit away from the trailer. Takes 5 mins at night and 5 mins in the morning. It won't be a bad night then. Buy a cheap alarm for your diesel tank. My firm bought them for us. We have a movement alarm that clip behind the tank. It does work.
A camping stove with pots & pans is the best. Otherwise you end living on processed crap all week, which coincidentally isn’t very good for your health. If you get a porta kettle make sure it’s a 24volt for HGVs they boil much quicker. You can order takeaways but you’ll be the size of a house within 6 months, and it costs a fortune. And try to eat healthy as your literally stuck behind the wheel all day with very little or no exercise.
So I'm going to remove this video reasonably soon and put out a new and better one using comments like these. After this current second project I have still ongoing. Lol
I’d say get a stove, But get a SMALL PRESSURE COOKER. Just cook on top of yesterday’s cook. You can fry in them too. So with a pressure cooker you only need one pot ! For everything, plus they save on gas due to firm lid.
I’ve got one of those electric lunch boxes. They are brilliant at heating up anything (pies, dinner, leftovers etc). Doesn’t take up much space either 👍
Great advice thank you very much, I will certainly take all of this onboard. I'm looking to get into hgv driving just can't work out how to get started.
Cheers for the video - and stay healthy! Have you thought about cooking on a little gas hob? You can make quite a few interesting meals on just 1 gas ring, and it should sit nicely on the centre console. (Open the windows a bit so it doesn't stink the cab out). If it's not too cold or windy you can cook outside the cab, like camping. It's nice winding down at the end of the day with my chopping board, onions, garlic, sausage, etc, bit of pepper or spices... I don't like the burger chains but sometimes ok it is an easy option but 2 of them in a row and i'd be feeling sick haha!
haha Love that idea Paul... If it has a fridge in the cab that would be very feasible for sure. Chicken, Scrambled Egg, Steak even... hell yes... I like porridge too with peanut butter and protein added... delish.
Once you pass your test can you go straight into tramping or would you recommend just doing day/night shift work to get some basic experience? Also how much would you say a new driver needs to have saved before going out tramping? For things such as service stations, tolls, food, entertainment etc etc
I have portable camping shower washing-up bowl stand in bowl for showers only use when no services...one ring gas stove cooking boiling water for shower...24v oven amazon a most..I never eat services shit...I live in truck 5 days a week
Hi mate, great vlog. Was wondering do u know of any 12/24 volt alarm clocks u can get? I'm looking at getting into the industry and thought a loud alarm clock would come in handy especially as i would probably wear ear plugs if tramping. I also have an ileostomy so having a half decent kip would be good, thanks!
Do you need change just incase you get a knock on the door from the ladies of the night asking for a coffee😉 would you recommend it as you did it and told the wife 🤦♂️
...well.... eeeerrr...... yeah..... eeerrr..... well... like.... eeeerrr.... as I said..... 2 minutes’ content in 17 minutes. You’re hilarious 😂 I’d suggest to write some notes about what you’re going to talk about, and when ...eeerrr.... and ....as I said.... starts, you just look into your notes. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@ExceptforAccess cheers. I'm a new pass class 2 and I start my first job on Tuesday. I'm waiting to see if I'm supplied a sat nav before I buy 1. I've just came across your channel and I'm newly subbed
Do you get used to driving a lorry like you get used to driving a car? I feel like it would be hard to control, how easy is it for a lorry to fall over? This is probably my dream job
Sounds silly but could you run through your routine for trailer heights please? There's obviously different fifth wheel heights, what do you do that gives you confidence for those pesky bridges?
Most 5th wheels are 1240mm the trailer height is based on this and often written on the trailer. Rule of thumb use the written height and add 10cm for comfort.

"Don't bring too much", it's better to have something you don't need than to need something you don't have.

Looking forward to sleep in biig bed! Driving van at the moment- no good as a bed😫
When you pull in a lay bay de couple saves all the trouble
you soon get used to the rocking of the cab at night m8
Thing is you lay out for the service stops, the money is never yours till you leave the company. You pay out, they pay it back, you pay out .

What model of tomtom sat nav do you use
It's a 6250 pro. If your getting one make sure it's the pro so you can put dimensions/weights in ect

I would rather drive a truck than a car and stability depends on the load and truck, tippers like what I do are very, very stable. Why don't you?
Why did ya leave dents?
Sumert.... You an east midlander I'm guessing? Ha ha
Good video but that music you left on in the back ground is awfull something of a serial killer documentary
Can you live in your lorry permanent?
Not really mate, there are regs on it essentially
Hey. Can trampers take there dogs with them?
Depends on the company

Why would anyone want to live like this for a living?
Oh my that was dull.
It really is 😆 I do intend to remake it
Annoying music
Worst part is it copyright dinged because of it.
