Good to see you have your console back :) as a technician myself I love the feeling of giving a console back to someone working and seeing how happy it makes them
@@dethcrimsonx yeah the retimer is a big problem on these and the S version, I just finished recording a video where I had to change one which I will be posting tomorrow lol
@@dethcrimsonx as far as I know the video encoding was controlled by the southbridge on the OG XB1, and personally I've only seen a couple go bad. There's a guy on here called Andrew Paul who specializes in console repair and his theory is that Microsoft saw more than we do and got fed up of replacing southbridge chips, so they switched to the same method as ps4 for video encoding. The PS4 uses a similar chip (MN864729) which also goes bad regularly
Hello, been following for over a year now and learned alot from you, I am trying to do this as my job self employed and practicing alot. I have just done my first trace rebuild on xbox one s hdmi port 6 traces ripped and manged to rewire and now working. Thank you
I've gotten into board level repair myself at my shop, and man: your videos are perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your skill. I'll be sure to send you my messups 😂😂😂
i hope you are keeping well I have ipad I tried to change the charging port and maid a bloomer the model is a A1567 will you be able to put it right again please let me know. Nicola frome Liverpool
Noob question here. What is that "gooey" stuff you're putting on the chip before you desolder it? I need that thing for one of my electronics projects and can't find what it's called. Thanks :)
the 3rd xbox in the video u21 the esd booster ic likes to crap out quite a bit too, can't be bought since i have schematics for all the xbox ones i was able to find a replacement ic in a different package that did the job
I bought the amtek copy Flux. It seems not like when I see you use it. I'll have to buy the expensive one. Also, what can I use to clean. Isopropyl is not working for me. Or is it the cheap Flux is making it so hard to clean off.
I'm on my second RW X and the first one flickered and lost all video and then would not turn back on. My current one is starting to act up just like the first one did. It only seems to be happening to the white ones.

Hey, have you personally noticed a lot more consoles breaking lately? I've been personally getting a lot of retimer and ps4 hdmi encoder jobs in and the story is the same, they were playing call of duty and all of a sudden it died... Do you think this has anything to do with how graphically intensive the new call of duty game is?
@@maximilianjankowski yeah last week I had 5 consoles in for repair, 4 of them had that same back story and all of them were retimer/hdmi encoder replacement. One of the consoles I got in recently was brand new, and the customer downloaded warzone and the retimer just went (flickering screen), not a spec of dust in the machine at all
TheCod3r Tutorials I recently plugged mine into my monitor, flashed a bit and ended up black screening a few days after, now it puts out no signal to no tvs or anything, you think it is something internal?
@@TheCod3r I heard it had something to do with a system update. The xbox one x project scorpio 2nd in this video is mine. Was fine up until sometime last yr. Waited long to get it fixed.
@@QuriousQatt if you plug it in while the console is on there is a chance you could short pins out and cause the ic to fail. Make sure you try a different monitor and a different cable first before deciding it's the console
Hello sir I’m 14yrs old I had my Xbox 1 2 yrs ago that broke down because of a surge as of it was a foreign Xbox when I brought it to my country (America to India) I was to excited and plugged in my Xbox 1 without stabiliser I was so stupid 😭 it caused a fuse in the living room and sparks ⚡️ came out of the Xbox is it fixable? Seems like that hdmi mounting technology is a design error.

Is it common for these Xbox One X to have chip retimer issues ??
Only Superman can fix X-boxes
Can you link the magnifiers that you have?
Hi. What solder wick do you use?
Can i ask the model of your soldering station?
Where can we buy this thermal camera?
What do you use to clean the chip ? What’s the white solution you put ?
What other problems can cause No Signal if the retimer and port are both good?

why do retimer chip go bad? is it bad hdmi cable? or design flaw?

What do you use to clean the pcb after reflow and adding the new retimer chip
isopropyl alcohol likely
I have and Xbox one x and the hdmi port needs to be replaced and I only have a soldering iron and solder I don’t have any flux can I steal replace the hdmi port without any flux
You need flux to help with the flow of solder otherwise you will get bridges between pins specially on HDMI ports where pins are close to each other.

How much do you charge for a HDMI retimer chip repair?
I believe I was quoted $140 or something around there

Can someone tell me why the fuck did xbox put faulty retimer ic chips??
Do fix any xbox that powers on then shuts off
