Thanks for the photos. They just show how corporate everything has gotten since then. Corner markets are virtually gone. They have been replaced by Dollar stores, Target and Walmart. A mom and pop store can not compete. Its sad that all towns of any size are so homogenous now.

Genuine color photos (as opposed to colorized nonsense) make the past seem so much more real.

    5” x 4” colour film in the 1940’s?
It’s not easy lugging a view camera around for snapshots; 35mm would have been a lot easier. And, only a very few photographers would be using a view camera; so I assume these photos are taken by the same guy. It’s puzzling me.

During the war years the monthly enlisted pay for a Private was $54. Officer pay for a Lieutenant was $160 per month. Don’t forget PX and Commissary privileges.

I remember seeing a palm tree in. Lochalsh in Scotland. You never know where you are going to find them, I guess.

You act like you never heard of war time help. , did you know that
    Joseph Goebbels said , once
    Propaganda Is known it's
Ineffectual . but you think you can make it work , I understand.
What you don't seem to understand is what. Lincoln said.
You can fool all the people some of the time. Some of the people some of the time , But you can't fool
all of the people all of the time.
    Abe Lincoln.
