Thanks for the photos. They just show how corporate everything has gotten since then. Corner markets are virtually gone. They have been replaced by Dollar stores, Target and Walmart. A mom and pop store can not compete. Its sad that all towns of any size are so homogenous now.
5” x 4” colour film in the 1940’s? It’s not easy lugging a view camera around for snapshots; 35mm would have been a lot easier. And, only a very few photographers would be using a view camera; so I assume these photos are taken by the same guy. It’s puzzling me.
During the war years the monthly enlisted pay for a Private was $54. Officer pay for a Lieutenant was $160 per month. Don’t forget PX and Commissary privileges.
You act like you never heard of war time help. , did you know that Joseph Goebbels said , once Propaganda Is known it's Ineffectual . but you think you can make it work , I understand. What you don't seem to understand is what. Lincoln said. You can fool all the people some of the time. Some of the people some of the time , But you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Abe Lincoln.

The last time I checked the Virgin Islands wasn't in the United States.
0:58 seconds in the video. A palm tree in Washington D.C.?
I remember seeing a palm tree in. Lochalsh in Scotland. You never know where you are going to find them, I guess.
I wouldn't call those beautiful houses in Brockton tenements and I looked up the corner of the tea room...wow has that are gone to hell
