Is that Dennis the menace, Jay North, in the picture at 9:17, the one with the sucker stick in his mouth!? These are so quaint! The men with their push mowers- my sister has the one our dad used in her front garden! - one even has his weed wacker handy on the handle..😎 towards the end the 2 ladies, one with the grass trimmer, the other with the canvas grass catcher attachment, are lovely in their trousers and shorts and blouses! I could go on and on about these reminiscent pictures, a little before my day, but I won't! The studious lady with her bug collection caught my eye! Thank you for this collection! I really enjoyed it!!
WOW.... one of the best I've seen. Most are really good.... this one is fantastic. Can see their faces close up and clear. Is it me, or was the quality/clarity of pics of this era better than in the seventies?
If these pictures were in "Life" magazine they would have been taken by a professional photographer, with a 1st class camera, and the knowledge to get 1st class pictures.
That picture of the older couple sitting on the porch near the steps: I had one of my own grandparents from that same time period that looked so much like them. Don't ask me where it is now, not after the number of times I've moved house.
I could be wrong, but I think the two 'Tudor-style' houses in the background at about 0:45 seconds into the show, (lady pulling wagon with two children) may be at 39 & 41 Wyatt Rd, Garden City, New York. They still look remarkably the same.
No wonder they were all good... LIFE had good photographers! The pictures at 3:48, girl at the piano with her teacher, 5:29, dad making movies of his children, and 8:17 the MOTORCYCLE !! These were my favorites.
They're still good pictures. Are you trolling an old picture site? LOL...My parents were in their prime in the 40's and people back then would say "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". Guess you never heard that saying. He who only criticizes is sad indeed.
This comment to these vids has been made many times before, but there are no obese people pictured , people’s diets must have been a lot healthier than now
I bet people were thinner because they ate healthier...raised their own veggies in a garden. Meat and milk didn't have all those hormones and antibiotics. Less additives and less sodium. Less "packaged" foods back then. And people didn't just sit around all day. A push mower and washing clothes (sometimes by hand or with a wringer washer) burns a lot of calories. I remember in the winter my Mom and Dad had to go to the cellar every so often to shovel coal into the coal furnace to keep our house warm in the winter.
No big mystery here....the average diet in those days was probably even more unhealthy and caloric laden than today....however cigarette smoking was rampant back in the 40's and no greater aid to dropping a few and keeping em off than your average pack a day Lucky Strikes...Camels....Marlboros...etc etc.
Love the music that plays.... Wonderful....
I very much appreciate that you revived this channel. I love the music, especially the Intractable piece.

That's a lovely town in NY State, wherever it is. The homes are beautiful.
I so enjoy this channel. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍💖

WOW! People wearing clothes that were actually comfortable and looked alright. This probably should become a trend again.

Where do you guys get the music for these videos? I love it.
the music is in the description
Garden City, NY is on Long Island. Upper class. Hoity toityville...LOL These are not average people in the average home.
That is the truth. Upper-class homes.
Haha, I live in Garden City, NY. Love the pictures some of the homes look very familiar.

Very nice. It's very possible one of the very elderly was alive when Abraham Lincoln was President.
The thumbs down wasn’t allowed to live there.
Notice how skinny most people are? Before fast food …
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS TRANSPORTED INTO A PEACEFUL UNITED STATES!
Welcome
I'm guessing most of these were 1944-47?
Uptown girl, she's been living in her white bread world. 😆
The photo of young toddler hooked up to a cable in front of Gramma was a bit unique. NEVER seen THAT before!
These photos are all from "Life" magazine. They're all setup and glamorized, only showing what their readers want to see.
And?....this channel is filled with loads of others that AREN’T, as well....

Denise Winant Agreed! Thank you😊

Denise Winant good points
Plus, fresh foods vs fast food restaurants and increased sugary foods. It was a time before the “explosion” of Diabetes in the USA.

I could have looked at an old life magazine ! Lazy!
Before American's became drug addicts. 😵💫🤪🤯.....😂
I was hoping to see candid pictures taken of everyday life, not pictures from Life Magazine. Thanks anyway.
You suck Steve. Go away.
This was very boring
