I don't need a time machine to take me back to the 1950s, just my memory and videos like this one. Quite a bit of that looked familiar, especially those black cars with the running boards. We had one of those in 1951 or so. Standard shift, and it didn't take me long to realize when Dad was supposed to shift the gears according to the noise the engine made. My father used to deliberately tease me by driving along while the noise rose in pitch and I screamed at him to shift the gears, already. I probably thought something would blow up if he didn't.
right. I still drive a stick and in fact have never owned an auto tranny and I'm 79yo. if properly driven sticks just don't give problems. The problem though is nowadays nobody knows how to drive much of anything.

Any ideas where most of the more "beach town" or coastal photos in the early minutes of the video were taken? Feels like Florida, but it could be the Texas Gulf coast/Galveston, I suppose. Although my parents were living in Galveston about this time, and I don't remember seeing photos quite like this. Any ideas?
I notice Lot of 49,50, and 51 fords. My dad had @ 49 ford. I was around 15 16 years old and had a 50 ford ex Chicago police car. Paid 25 bucks for it in 1963.
I think it's due to the fact that these images were taken on Kodachrome slide film. It was known for it's vivid colors. Kodak claimed Kodachrome slides would last "a lifetime" without fading out. Now we see that it's true! The images outlasted most of these people depicted.
Yes Kodachrome transparencies were well saturated. I loved that about Kodachrome. I guess not everyone else did or does. We used to shoot Kodachrome 64 at 50 (ASA) for even more saturation! Of course in the 1950s Kodachrome was pretty slow film, ASA 10 I think. You really needed a bright sunny day for best results, but my how nice those old slides look. And one great thing is the slides didn’t “wash out” over time like Anscochrome.
I was born in ‘51 and looking back at those simpler times I realize how naive we were and how much we have learned and changed in the last 70 years. We can look back and think it would be good to live like that again but these current days are truly the best years in the history of mankind. Don’t buy what the news people and politicians are selling. We are truly living better than Kings and Queens of 100 years ago!
Many years ago H.G. Wells wrote a novel called "The Time Machine", an early science-fiction story about a machine that allowed people to go back in time. Nowadays people will make comments about, "If I had a time machine I would..."

Back the tires, brakes, mufflers, batteries, did not last long. All cars are 10 times better and safer.I am 74 years old and love these modern automobiles! Tom Filipiak
so many different kinds of cars in all colors. not like today.
It's probably been asked a 100 times already, but what is this music from? It's mesmerizing.
*It's in the Description*
@@Ford_Raptor_R_720hp_V8 Thank you, guess I should have read the description ...lol.
Kids pictured here are probably in their late 70's to early 80's in 2023.
Any ideas?
Where can I find this music….i love it
I might be wrong but that looks like a very young Simon and Garfunkle 0:50
I notice Lot of 49,50, and 51 fords. My dad had @ 49 ford. I was around 15 16 years old and had a 50 ford ex Chicago police car. Paid 25 bucks for it in 1963.
The colors are over saturated im most of these pictures. But they still bring back memories. I'm so old I fart dust.
I like the frames of these pictures with curved corners just like the old Kodachrome card slide mounts that I remember well 📸🎞️
Naughty you, you sneaked a couple of photos from the U.K. into the mix. I liked the video, though.
Yes - Brighton!
Odd to see a London Ambulance in the middle of this.
Where were the sad ones?
Almost all of them. I want to go back
What is a Time Machine?
Many years ago H.G. Wells wrote a novel called "The Time Machine", an early science-fiction story about a machine that allowed people to go back in time. Nowadays people will make comments about, "If I had a time machine I would..."
@@andrewbrendan1579 The HG Wells story did not involve going "back in time". The time traveler went into the future.
@@robertromero8692 Now that you mention it, he did go into the future. It HAS been a long time since I've seen the movie!
Does anybody know the title/name of the first music that played?
Intractable.

I’m interested in seeing the 50’s from the perspective of people of color (e.g., Japanese Americans, African Americans, et al). My guess is their’s would not make us nostalgic for the “good old days” or a simpler time...
9:17 7 oz GLASS coke bottles. these pics were ALL taken from somewhere out West. NO pics from FL at all. maybe a few from NYC... maybe.
Great pix but many in 1940s.🙂
Anyone know which state capital that is shown in the distance?

People morphology seemed different back then !
