Claire, don’t blow your pastels, not good for you breathing, just shake off the excess in a garbage container on the floor next to you. You don’t want those particles in the air. I love what you are doing, love your accent as always. I am finding that I was too careful in applying the pastels, you have shown me I can press some and get an outstanding outcome.
I love your choice of colours for the painting, and your background is so beautiful! I knew that technique but I never thought about using it. Your demonstration makes me want to try ! 😘 I love your metallic paint set too ! Thank you for sharing, Claire! 😘💕💕💕
Claire, this was an absolutely wonderful demonstration of incorporating hard pastels and watercolor into an image. I would love to try this method soon. Thank you for sharing this with us. It brings joy and hope to us hobbyists; “joy’ in knowing what is possible and gives us “hope” that our projects will be mini masterpieces. Lisa🕊
Yes¡!!!!.lulu mayo is my fave! Thank. Youuu Claire for this!!! You are the best!!!! Please pick another page from lulu mayo... Maybe a colouring along!!! Using prismas!
❤️❤️❤️ this technique. You are a wonderful instructor Claire and I love watching your videos. Thank you for all that you do in sharing your knowledge ~k
such a great technique, definitely going to try it and I am going to get myself a pencil eraser, and see if I can get some of these paints to Austalia for reasonable cost - thank you so much for the live video, it was really fantastic
I love the video, I love the colours, I love the sloth. Would I need to use a fixative at the end? I cant quite work out what I would do to remove the pastel if I were to use coloured pencils instead of paint, and if the pencils work over fixative spray? Many thanks for this tutorial.
Hi! If you google pastel fixative spray on Amazon you’ll get plenty of choices - just trial it on a spare piece of paper first and use it very sparingly. Pastel can be lifted fairly easily with an ordinary eraser xxx
Hi Claire! Can you use watercolour pencils over soft pastel? Or the water will take over the pastel?... And if you use a sealer over the soft pastel and then use the watercolour pencils?... Thanks, hugs from Costa Rica. Pura Vida
Hi ! I think it’s a bit risky. Watercolour over the pastel would turn it blotchy I think. I have never tried it over sealed pastel. If you’re going to give it a try, try on plain paper outside of your book first as a test.

Beautiful! Would you recommend workable spray on the pastel if you want to finish the page with regular colored pencils? Thank you Claire!

Could you do this with oil pastels Claire?
Doll Scott hi! Tbh I don’t think so. They don’t handle the same. And they’re very smelly 😅
What did you draw the stems of the flowers in with plz??
Gina Troutman I didn’t go over them honey - they were already on the design.
