It doesn't make sense to make an Elden Ring sequel. Elden Ring was basically the capstone of the souls formula. It just took every development of the previous titles and put them all together and tried to make it all viable in a giant open world. They need to make a bunch of smaller, more innovative games before they can attempt something like Elden Ring again.
They need to completely overhaul fighting and AI, it is not PS1 era anymore. And I know people are stupid and barely can understand 4 attacks on their character but please, they can learn.
@@batonnikus I disagree. If anything, I want them to tone down the combat, disempower the player, and reemphasise tense, tightly constructed dungeons and level design and focus less on flashy combat (and I say this as someone who likes Elden Ring combat and boss design).
My pet theory is that the Abyssal Woods is the secret hint about the next From game, in the way that Chester in the DS1 DLC hinted at Bloodborne, and the Millwood Knights in DS3 DLC hinted at ER. It feels telling that this one area in the ER DLC plays so differently from the rest of the game with a focus on horror and stealth, so I have a hunch they’re working on something with horror as the focus.
Honestly I don’t care as long as the pvp is a return to form. ER is so stale, even if it had rewards and 6 player limit, it will still have endless l2 spam for 2k damage
What Fromsoftware needs is for their own staff to play the game before release. Then issues like taunters tongue, AFK hosts, lack of torrent in multiplayer and overleveled phantoms would be ironed out.
Open world games are my preferred format and there could never be as much content as i want in it. I want a full MMO's worth of content in Elden Ring. And ToTK was an amazing followup that added new innovative elements to the game that absolutely made it worth playing.
I want a customizable weapon and spell wheel, like GTA. Selecting spells in these games feels restrictive and they can balance around a more dynamic UI.
I would be happy with ER as a forever game meaning updates and dlcs indefinitely.FS has definitely earned my trust and I'm buying whatever their selling.
Like it or not, the reality is that ultimately it's a numbers game & the fact that Elden Ring sold over 25M copies puts it among the true titans regarding single player titles. Not to mention that the SotE expansion is already well on its way to hitting 10M on top of that. Very few single player games come anywhere near those kind of figures. Rarer still one that is Japanese but not made by Nintendo & so one thing I think we can safely say for sure is there will be more Elden Ring in the future. Whether it'll be their next title or not I can't say but there's no chance in hell that Kadokawa won't want to capitalise on the game's success.
Wouldn’t mind elden ring getting a scholar of the first sin type of edition that adds covenants and 6 player limit with some new stuff and weapons maybe
Elden Ring is a complete experience. A sequel would do nothing but cheapen the finality of the original game. However, the market will inevitably demand another dark fantasy action RPG from Fromsoft, and when the time comes, From will likely make another new world, totally separate from Dark Souls or Elden Ring. Personally, I hope they wait at least a couple of console generations before attempting a spiritual successor, and explore new ideas in the meantime. Based on what Miyazaki has said in recent interviews, I'm confident that their upcoming games will be unique.

You're right, it's even worse than unfinished. And ER is bathed in stupid design. It's a whole experience of copium over stupid design. It's like they don't learn or don't care.
I'd like to see them tackle new themes and aesthetics; for sure. Even if I don't agree with BB being the "true sequel to DeS/DkS"; I would love to see them try and put what they've learned into something wholly original. Seikiro being a good example of them trying new stuff; and it bleeding back into their efforts on ER. With other Soulslikes coming out that ape the dark fantasy trappings; and even Lies of P aping the BB style so much, I feel they need to step away from their usual comfort zones. If we're only looking for them to try something new; at least.
I trust the studio will do the best, most of the time myazaki dont like the number 2 next to his games maybe they'll stop here as we can see elden ring is like all of the last games mixed in one game, or maybe they'll make another masterpiece :))
a sequel or even prequel for elden ring is unlikely in my eyes, because tge story, world just feels complete. its more likely that they will work with some other title older or newer, but in all fairness if i could choose what from is going to do next iwould suggest a kings field revamp, maybe a new title or just a remaster of the old ones.
I wouldnt say no to a sequel because we still need Godwyn and the Gloom Eyed Queen but i would really like a new game thats inspired by Elden Ring but focusing on Underground areas heavily and vast dungeons and temples my favorite parts of Elden Ring was exploring underground there was so much but i would go further even making giant glowing mushrooms and maybe instead of like Elden Ring having a giant tree they could have a giant glowing mushroom as its iconic theme it would be so epic and have really cool bosses that lurk underground with lore and reasoning for them being there something Fromsoft Excels at i think also that instead of every boss having a fog basically giving away that theres a boss here it should be either a door or some kind of cool drop section i like the sense of not knowing and finding out plus that could be something unique for there next title ik that the fog is iconic to there series but its in every game its kinda old by now and its too obvious that u will fight a boss
Nah I'd say a new game for sure. Eldenring came to us after fromsoft grew and improved from all the previous games they made, meaning the next one with the knowledge of what they did with elden ring is going to be an absolute masterpiece. Hopefully an open world as well.
Agree with most of your views. I’m kinda conflicted. I was probably one of the last to experience open world burnout but Elden Ring refreshed my interest. It does hurt replay ability, the exploration aspect eventually disappears. Tying collectables into progression in the DLC was a real mistake imho too. Another standout that I’m unsure about is they seem to be doubling down on the ‘cluster fuckery’ of bosses. It’s always been a dance you learn the choreography then you dance the piece. Now it’s less about executing the dance and more about learning ever increasingly complex sequences hidden in masses of particles. More cluster fuckery. Tldr new franchise with a more focused experience.
I don’t think a sequel could even work. Lhore wise you’re fixing the world, unlike in DS where you are just forestalling the inevitable, in ER you’re establishing a new order. The only remotely cyclical aspect of ER lhore is some idea of order rising and coming to power
We should all get ready to accept that Miyazaki will retire soon, maybe after his next big IP drop, man is like 64 or something (according to Google) Some games have decently picked up on what he left behind, like Lords of the Fallen (yes, I do believe their last game was good), and Lies of P (even if it didn't have multiplayer) Wherever the future takes us, I rather play new ideas and IPs, the dark souls trilogy was fun, it sounds good, a beginning middle and end, but that door was closed, a happy ending
elden ring got the narrative follow up it needed. I would have liked to see a multiplayer overhaul expansion, but that's not happening. otherwise I'm fine calling the lands between done, & I'd like to see a new setting & concept, open world or otherwise. That said, I'll get any multiplayer souls like from FROM, are any other game from the studio that provides for a co-op main campaign experience. I got sekiro, but lack of multiplayer caused me to lose interest despite how well honed the game was, and lack of co-op campaign stopped me from picking up armored core 6 at all.
If they continue the souls series route I think it should be in the future like 1,000-10,000 years after which seems to coincide with ER's timeline. Also if you do obviously you have the outer gods but why not tie in the godwyn plot hole and he comes back sadistic like this was all a part of his plan. Maybe the third bloom happens, I think we killed her though, she kind of already was a consort like the others. Then the chunk of it is what happened after we became elden lord maybe we got locked in an evergaol and we have to kill our former self or we just become flat out evil. There has to be something new besides tarnished because we kind of ended that. Bring back some old npc's but we need at least 70-100 new bosses and enemies along. The plot? what went wrong I guess? Where's Ranni? I say all of this to say SOTE killed any chance of a sequel. I did like it but it could have been better. It's hard to catch lightening in a bottle twice. High thoughts
I want more open ended (bit not open world) game design. Give us things like wall climbs and grapples that allow smart players to skip most bosses. Keep like a few compulsory bosses. Maybe 5-10% compulsory. I kinda have a headcanon for a cool future souls like that might be kinda fun. Background: A magic focused game. You are an exiled Wizard (Faith) Warlock (Int/Fth) or Sorceror (Int) who, along with their coven were banished from the city. You take control of you character in a small open world close to the city. Your first priority is to get to the city underground, to find the hidden base of the coven. You sneak in, maybe fight a few enemies, but mainly you sneak. Then you start making your way to the top of the city where you can find the ruler who in their paranoia banished your coven. On your path, if u clear the bosses guarding the other exits of the city, you find other open world sections (all quite small) from where other members of the coven can now join you, leading to a Leda Style showdown between the court that banished you and your coven. Maybe keep the open world mostly empty, except small huts where friendly NPCs hide. They can sell some consumable stuff. I haven't completely thought out the combat, but I want a wand or a catalyst with a full moveset. (Imagine carian Slicer R1s into a piercer R2 and a jump R2 like Carian Grandeur. Backstep attacks are a Glintblade Phalanx with a retreat etc. ) . With a magical focus, making magical ropes for grapples, or magical harnesses for Wall climb, or conjuring a horse for open world exploration would make perfect sense.
so far FROM SOFTWARE Only listens to redditors and casuls. they've been vocals about r1 spam and backstab complains in ds3. now in elden ring both are very weird. they listens to bad players and not the real players.
@@Messmer-The-Impaler-n8iexcept r1 spam was the easier parry ever and it took 20 hits to kill. If you play brain dead you got punished. ER is l2 spam, which is sometimes backstabable/parry able, but usually not, and if they hit you you’re taking 2000 damage, being brain dead doesn’t matter or it’s actually the most optimal play
@@tylercafe1260 yes the focus was and shall remain PvE. The only one with multiplayer focus was DS2. All of the rest were PvE first games. I sometimes wonder how FS will do if they decide to make a soul's game without any multiplayer.
they've been making the same game for over 15 years. maybe Miyazaki doesn't want to be constrained by old plot threads and lore, but he obviously has no problem with recycling almost everything else. "iterating" would be a more charitable way to put it, but I don't see why I should. the actual story behind what happened to Dark Souls 2 is the opposite of what you suggested. the original director, Tomohiro Shibuya, envisioned something completely different from a typical Souls-game, but he utterly botched the job. Yui Tanimura was then brought on to save the project, and he ultimately did, but since they ran out of time, the game had to be cobbled together from repurposed assets. so, uh, yeah… the one time From Software tried to be creative, it backfired.
I’d like to be a knight. Every one of these Fromsoft games is basically high fantasy. Take out the lightning bolts and fireballs and let me sword fight🗿 And bring back the posture system
Fromsoftware are already making different games and elden ring 2 will come out eventually and with all honestly it's a win win because we gonna gwt quality games
We need a souls game with selectable body types that change your moveset. Like 1 plays like dark souls, 1 plays like bloodborne, 1 plays like Sekiro. NOT TO MENTION blaidd uses healing flasks, which IMO is a test for different selectable species.
Sekiro's (mechanical) spiritual sequel but built to meet variety BB halfway, let's go. C'mon Miyazaki, don't get distracted. You got like 10 good years left in you, tops. PS: co-oped with "puro lawlet" recently, didn't see you invading, would've been cool. Host is alright compared to some bored shitters out there.
"Majora's Mask might even be better than Ocarina of Time, if not as iconic or conventional". It's really strange having a channel I agree with almost everything on. You don't even hate on DS2! Amazing. Miyazaki has made clear that he has done all he can with Elden Ring. The endless trivia - sorry, lore - video-bingers may disagree, but I can't see how the game could have a sequel. I've been revisiting the older titles, and it's clear where FS' heart lies. That claustrophobic series of linear (but interlinked) levels is truly a breath of fresh air after 2.5 years of ER. I hope and suspect they're going to focus the profits made from ER's success into making something more tightly argued but which works for this-gen and next-gen consoles only, no longer chained to the PS4, making things as beautiful as possible (graphically, narratively, thematically). You put it well. I want a successor, not a sequel.
This argument about Elden Ring not being different enough from Dark Souls, and being dark souls 4, my God what a laughable argument. In that regard, how the heck don't you say Dark souls 1 is demon's souls 2 ? Or not different enough ? Why put dark souls as the standard, as if it started the action rpg format of From Software ? It is not, Demon's souls started it. Elden Ring has more differences with Dark Souls than dark souls with demon's souls.
A new game. Elden ring only kept me around with the PvP. The lore wasn’t all that interesting to me, kinda a downgrade from dark souls lore in my opinion.
The first taste of disappointment I experienced in Elden Ring was, after having completed stormveil castle, I came across Kenneth Haight and did that mini quest. Improper scaling was part of the problem but it seemed quite shallow, almost like it was a parody of a Bethesda side quest. And Haight says you can enter his service but then he has empty pockets when it comes time to pay up. I feel like that was my first disappointing peek at the sometimes frustratingly shallowness hidden in this open expansive world. I have often wanted a game that was a combination of Dark Souls and Elder Scrolls. I really loved the world of Elder Scrolls Oblivion -- all the many characters leading their individual lives. Obviously it was janky but some of the jank was fun and there was a ton of potential. And ofc another problem with Oblivion was the shitty combat. Initially I had somewhat hoped Elder Ring would be that combination I had dreamed of. Obviously it wasn't but I would like to see either From or more likely, some other company take a crack at a game like that.
If you look at the true history of how players felt between each game it's hard to even imagine there's even a fanbase after Dark Souls 1. People HATED Dark Souls 2, then when DS3 came out people said it was just a cash grab unnecessary sequel, and Bloodborne is now being questioned in quality thanks to people like PlagueofGripes continually not understanding why they even put a shield on the game if it's going to make fun of passivity in it's item description. Hell if you actually look at his recent Dark Souls critique he pretty much denounces he ever thought the games were good. He legitimately thinks all the games are bad and that he never really had fun with any of them to begin with. Notice I haven't even brought up Elden Ring yet and it already seems like Dark Souls 1 was the only game people liked but apparently that's also not true thanks to people like PlagueOfGripes revealing his true thoughts on the series. So that means people have legitimately propelled their entire online reputation based off games they don't really care for and yet talk about these games all the damn time. This part of the reason devs, writers, artists, and musicians just don't listen to "fans". They come and go. If they stay that doesn't mean loyalty or even understanding just stubbornness to let go of an idea of something rather than the reality of the situation. PlagueOfGripes basically said "These games were never good. That fact people say Elden Ring made things worse shows how people don't really loook at these games the right way."
Elden ring is not a bad game. It just lack replayability, multyplayer and social elements. Larvar tears so we can actually theory craft in pvp... I mean when it comes down to it miyazaki should be emberrased for making such inconplete game. For real. He always say j wnana make dream game yet elden ring is a console game with so many missing elements if it woudnt be miyazaki he would get roasted by any gamer with standards

They could finish off the Berserk series in the same way Witcher 3 finished off that story.
No, not with that horrible gameplay. It's 2025 almost, please have some standards. Dumb weapon swinging at dumb enemies is not good gameplay.

@@Thew-The_W xDDD 800hrs in fromsoft games mah dude, killed prenerf Radan with daggers. But to be perfectly honest, should have quit long time ago to play some quality games more, like kingdom come, stellaris, more sekiro, monster hunter.
@@batonnikus ok buddy, but why would you even play it then
It doesn't make sense to make an Elden Ring sequel.
@@evilfungas im fine with either, make great combat or no combat apart from bosses like in the best game of all time: Shadow of the Colossus.
I'd love to see them make a horror game, been a long time since the last one.
same, would be dope
My pet theory is that the Abyssal Woods is the secret hint about the next From game, in the way that Chester in the DS1 DLC hinted at Bloodborne, and the Millwood Knights in DS3 DLC hinted at ER. It feels telling that this one area in the ER DLC plays so differently from the rest of the game with a focus on horror and stealth, so I have a hunch they’re working on something with horror as the focus.
@@Felicificity I think you might be on to something there! Hope we find out soon :)
They should do a game set in the Berserk Universe
I truly wanna see how cancerous the sequal would be for PVP.
What pvp? Miyazaki would rather see his game diee then implement basic multyplayer elements thats games have for last 10 years
Honestly I don’t care as long as the pvp is a return to form. ER is so stale, even if it had rewards and 6 player limit, it will still have endless l2 spam for 2k damage
One thing I think would be cool would be a game set in the world Ranni builds thousands of years later after everything turns to ruin.

I would really like a standout game like bloodborne and sekiro I think that would be really good.
Am I allowed to predict another DLC?
Miyazaki loves retreading old work.....
either armored core 7, dark souls 4, sekiro 2, bloodborne 2, elden ring 2 or a new souls-borne game and I'm gonna be very happy
No absolutely not lol
I trust the studio will do the best, most of the time myazaki dont like the number 2 next to his games
maybe they'll stop here as we can see elden ring is like all of the last games mixed in one game, or maybe they'll make another masterpiece :))
a sequel or even prequel for elden ring is unlikely in my eyes, because tge story, world just feels complete. its more likely that they will work with some other title older or newer, but in all fairness if i could choose what from is going to do next iwould suggest a kings field revamp, maybe a new title or just a remaster of the old ones.
I dont want an elden ring 2, but i would love another dlc
We should all get ready to accept that Miyazaki will retire soon, maybe after his next big IP drop, man is like 64 or something (according to Google)
Some games have decently picked up on what he left behind, like Lords of the Fallen (yes, I do believe their last game was good), and Lies of P (even if it didn't have multiplayer)
Wherever the future takes us, I rather play new ideas and IPs, the dark souls trilogy was fun, it sounds good, a beginning middle and end, but that door was closed, a happy ending
elden ring got the narrative follow up it needed.
As much as I would absolutely love a sequel I
Think fromsoft is better doing one offs
Tears of the kingdom surpassed breath of the wild
so far FROM SOFTWARE Only listens to redditors and casuls. they've been vocals about r1 spam and backstab complains in ds3. now in elden ring both are very weird. they listens to bad players and not the real players.
R1 spam needed to go. Now the new complaint is L2 spam. You cannot help spam, but hopefully they will balance it better in the future.
@@Messmer-The-Impaler-n8i they didn't balance it for 2 years straight lmfao
@@Messmer-The-Impaler-n8iexcept r1 spam was the easier parry ever and it took 20 hits to kill. If you play brain dead you got punished. Guys PVP was never good. You're playing a completely different game than 90% of people
@@tylercafe1260 yes the focus was and shall remain PvE.
Great video dude, i completely agree with all of this to a T!
I’d like to be a knight. Every one of these Fromsoft games is basically high fantasy. Take out the lightning bolts and fireballs and let me sword fight🗿
And bring back the posture system
They should make a successor to bloodborne
I think there's too many plotholes in the story. A sequel would be good involving Godwyn.
I think it should get a prequel.
Sure thing bud… we have three fucking Dark Souls games.
Nah, Miyazaki doesn't like direct sequels. We might get yet another Dark Souls-style game, but it won't be called Elden Ring.
No. Fromsoft can't make open world games as good as they make linear games.
It should get a prequel.

HELL YEAH
It is October. Return to bloodborne. Forget the past 2.5 years
I've been thinking it since I first played elden ring. Dark Souls 1 is an open world. Elden Ring is an empty world
well said, so true as well
This argument about Elden Ring not being different enough from Dark Souls, and being dark souls 4, my God what a laughable argument.
And PvP is also a downgrade.
Blame R.R. I like to blame him for everything as he’s focused on being a celebrity for the last 10+ years rather than finishing his work.

1:55 Heresy
Yes I want an Elden Ring 2
