Absolutely love the Olds 455! They really never got the respect they deserved with everyone being so obsessed with the Chevy motors and now the LSs, and they probably won't ever get the respect they deserve. But more than a few Chevelle guys have been embarrassed by a lowely little 442 and it's always great seeing their reaction when they are. Awesome car! Keep it Olds!
Atoweha Always take care of yourself first, keep private accounts and plenty of cash out of the bank. Nowadays with how women are, it's better to just assume they will divorce you.
+Joe11Blue Well said! Great to see guys that see the truth rather than the naïve stupid man-ginas! PS I just got out of a divorce and am fed up of all of my naïve and stupid friends who are living a lie/life trap
i like the fact that its not a mainstream muscle car. in fact Ive never seen one before and it probably makes just as good of a race car as the Camaro which are unbelievably over-used.
Amazing thanks for another great show. Chilling in the pub in South London watching on WiFi a Beer and a Big fat steak living the dream !!!!! Cheers mate 😊
62-72 American cars, and I mean al of them, Ford, GM, Mopar AMC, were the best looking cars in history. Love tbe 65 Cutlass. Beatiful, but I would prefer a set of Torque-Thrust D, Cragars, Keystone Classics or Ansen Sprints. Am I the only one that noticed the left brake lamp was inop?
My Dad had a 1964 Olds Starfire when he was a senior in high school, in 1967, in San Jose, Calif. It had a 4spd and 394 big block, lowered, egg shell white, and it was his first car....he LOVED that car...2 weeks before graduation, it was stolen out of the school parking lot...cops found it 3 weeks later, it had the interior stripped out, 4 mismatched tires, and had been set on fire in East Palo Alto, Calif...he still has a picture of that car hanging on the wall in his garage...
Love it! Everyone seems to overlook the Oldsmobile's and Pontiac's of this era for the must have over priced Camaro's, Chevelle's and Nova's etc. Pontiac and Oldsmobile engines are under rated also, properly built they are great engines that make tons of torque.
Beautiful lines and great colour combinations. I can't remember the last time I saw an offset single stripe rather than the more common double down the centre, but it looks great. The sound speaks for itself.
Definitely nice to see that he stuck with the Olds engine. Major props for that. I kind of want the tires to have taller sidewalls, but that's really just nit-picking. I think it would make it look much more natural and more Trans-Am era, though. But all my bench-judging aside, this thing is awesome!
This is a beautiful car, no matter what some of these people are saying! I love the look of this car and I'm so glad to see an Olds motor roaring under the hood. Oldsmobiles are a rare thing, to see actually appreciated. I had a '65 that I was hoping to do something very similar with. One of these days, I will once again own another or two!!
+LTR302 I appreciate how Chevy/Ford have the biggest and cheapest aftermarket. Some people wouldn't be able to get into this hobby without them. That being said, having a car with a correct engine makes it that much more special.
+Crockett85 olds buick and pontiac have forgotten engines and cadillac ford chevy and chrysler have way to well know engines which is said would love a cadillac 500 with a shit ton of mods but the the ls and ford lines are good for the guys getting into the hobby or me the business hopefully
The car is beautiful! I had a 66 f85 cutlass convertible with the 330 4bbl. Lottsa fun when your a teenager! Mooing down the street with that Q jet singing!
I kind of tracked this build on Instagram, and being an Olds guy, I LOVE THIS CAR. THANK YOU for keeping the Olds power plant! LS motors aren't the key to every build, and I love this one because of the originality. Nice job. Hopefully mine will be featured one day. :)
I love seeing classics in stock form, at the very least - if thats not your thing - it emphasizes how far beautiful & slick builds like this one have come from factory. Also, always hope that the heavy-duty builds are built from cars that have been worn down and seen plenty of miles over the years rather than a low-miles factory-spec garage find that looks like it just rolled off the dealer lot. Give the ol' gals a new life, it warms my heart
Wow, thank you for this. My first car in '73 (I wasn't 16 until '75) was a '65 Cutlass w/330 4brl, 2dr hard top, auto man. It was a hand me down that my mom own for years so it was a little worn out when I got it at 13 as a project. Came Maroon (target red (i think), w/ white int, w/black carpet and tack mounted on the factory console. I never quite seen one equipped with these options but I also remember that it didn't have any F85 badges inside or out. I was so proud of this car by the time I was 16. I learned so much about mechanics and hot rodding (the latter of which I couldn't afford).
I feel that most of the cars /BIG MUSCLE is shooting nowadays are coming from people who are more known. I kinda liked the garage built, little funds, big personalities. Anyways, still love tuning in each week.
I absolutely love the Old's cutlass, I never owned one between the years of 64 to 67 they were very hard to find for me but I owned at least 25 cuttlass's when I was younger and my first cutlass that I bought from a very good friend in highschool was my favorite because me and my cousin did a lot of work to it and it ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile at the Atco speedway in Atco new jersey and I also put a 411 posi rear in it and the front tires would come up off the ground and the back tires would be screaming it was awesome and I loved it ❤️😎👍
I love this car. I had a 65 f85 with a 350 rocket and powerglide 2 speed transmission. I could wind it up to 70 before it would hit 2nd. Funny, I also had a problem with the driver side brake light. That brake light got me more than 1 ticket 😂. Beautiful car!
Now there's a hot rod I could see myself in. Like the color, the wishlist on the side (althought the car probably has everything on it) - I could do without.
My brother had a 66 and 68 442 ragtop. He said anyone could build a Chevy but Olds performance took talent He had aftermarket rods and pistons, big tube headers and a huge holley carb. Turbo 400 with a manual valve body. It was a beast he did a lot of his own machine work because he wasn't rich. i was afraid to drive that car it was a beast.
I own a 1965 F-85 Cutlas,(Post Model-just like this car) all original with a 330 cu. in. 4 barrel carb. I really enjoy the car and always get comments on the body style. It also has a two-tone paint scheme from the factory, never been painted, all original. Great little muscle car.
'77 Olds Ninety-Eight 2dr coupe, 5.7 ltr 350 Rocket, looks sick and evil at a stand still with aftermarket wheels. The long body lines and lowered front end stance made the roof look chopped. Quick off the line when tires aren't spinning, that third gear is an import killer and that's an automatic. You can feel all the weight that the specs foretell. The thing handles like a go-kart. Sloppy /reckless when you want it to be or precision/polished when your heart desired. It was a heavyweight sleeper.
6:49: "This car started life as a 330 V8, 2 speed powerglide car". This is wrong information. Powerglide transmissions were never used in Oldsmobiles! The Oldsmobile 2 speed automatic was known as the Jetaway transmission. It IS the same transmission used in Buick and Pontiac A body cars. Pontiac also called it the Jetaway. Buick called it the "ST-300". It is NOT the same thing as a Powerglide - that is a Chevrolet only transmission! The only thing the Powerglide and Jetaway have in common are both being 2 speed automatics. Just like how the GM divisions usually used different engines on a carline, in the 60s, many GM divisons did not use the same transmissions, either, even when a car line was shared between the different divisions.
what's with the title change? I liked the "OMG, no LS?" title better personally but great episode nonetheless! Enjoy the intro the track is real catchy
I was stunned when I first saw this video because I didn't think anybody cared about a pre 1968 olds product at all in the performance dept any ways. I own a 1966 cutlass 4 door. A lot of people locally think its cool but on the grand scale I thought not. Well this video proved me wrong. It's true the featured has 2 doors and pretty serious money into it, it looks a lot like my 1966.I too have done work to many areas of the car. New springs, shocks, full polyurethane bushings, fat tires, 455,posi but over all far from finished. My car drives so grandma but runs 81 in the 1/8 mile.
Great looking car! Fantastic build and probably one of my favourites thus far. I love Rob's photography too. Good to see he has something equally as awesome. Oh and Mike, you're a king! haha Stielow who? his cars are TOO harsh ;)
I'm glad someone has knowledge of other engines besides an LS...I'm sick of them.. Nothing like a gigantic monster 455 rocket..I had one in a 1970 Schuster Sidewinder jetboat..I could run it all day long at 5.500 rpm with no problems..Oh yea..Sweet car too .Yea with this engine with the torque they have you had better have a good rear end..
As a guy that's into old school Pontiacs, many of the shows i go to are littered with the classic non-chev GM's with LS motors or just plain chev small blocks, nothing wrong with chevy, but it's always damn refreshing to see someone keep one of the lesser known power plants in these monsters, this was a good episode.
Great job thanks for keeping the Olds motor... My self I had a few of them '64 F-85 Deluxe 2 door post '65 442 2 door hardtop '66 Cutlass Supreme 2 door hardtop '67 442 Convertible And drove a '70 442 W-30 that was my buddy's 2 door hardtop... Got his running 12:60's at 102 m.p.h. that was not bad for almost stock...just tricks
You finally found out...I owned a '67 442 rag-top big block set up the same way Edelbrock, Holly double pumpers, Squeeze, etc. No lettering on the outside tho...a super sleeper. I loved pulling up the handle to open the cutouts, and terrify whoever was in the other lane...and then blow his doors off. I still know what I learned. I have a small-block V8 dodge van now (sob) but I can still kick it hard and step out over the line it around 'obstacles' as necessary. Uh huh. Boowa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
iadr Well if they are not then they look similar, anyways I think you know what I mean. In my opinion good steelies would look heaps better and would bring out the character of the car even more. Cause alloy rims on an old school muscle car don't really look good. It's like clash of two different world, and not in a good way either. But of course that is just my personal subjective opinion. Obviously.
Hey Mike, thank you yet again for another great episode. I remember seeing a muscle car made in Holly, Michigan at the Detroit Auto Show this year. It really caught my eye (huge price tag too) and it is sort of the pinnacle of muscle cars of the modern day era. The muscle car is known as the Equus Bass 770. It would be one hell of an episode if you guys could test drive it for BIG MUSCLE as the car really isn't as popular as it should be and yet its got great numbers to boast as well as craftsmanship.
I bought a '64 Olds F-85 Cutlass Convertible in '76 for $50...My friend put a rebuilt 350 in it for $225, and I loved that car...I wish I knew how rare it was when I totaled it, 4 years later..I'd have put it in a barn instead of a junkyard..That car drove so nice... I sat on top of the back of the drivers seat a few times, going down a really long straight hill, and steering with my feet, to feel the wind...but DON'T try that yourself..I was lucky and stupid when I was 18....
I have an actual 65 442 and it is a really fun car to drive. The big block 400 puts out a lot of engine and gets her really moving. I would love to drive this car and see how she pulls.
So fresh and so clean. I would have a little less wheel and a bit more rubber. That is all I would change. The look is mean. I really like the striping and the amber lights. Thanks again /Drive
My friend bought a 65 olds back in the 90's. It only had a 330 ci olds small block, but it handled very good for what it was. It was only a 2bbl. carb but would do 130mph in style...
I Love it.... Owned a 1965 Olds 442 Convertible, very close to the same color. I Luved mine and was sad to get rid of it but my next car was a 1968 Ram Air 442, very nice upgrade! 👍 American Iron🇺🇸
C5Ron7 - LOVE the ‘68 W-30’s ! I owned a ‘68 442 (non W-30]....tons of fun - with minor mods and a 3.91 posi, it was a blast - surprised a few musclecars considered tougher !
Thumbs up for sticking with the Olds and not swapping in an LS.
Hell yes.
Yes, you are so correct. To profane that beautiful 65 with a Chevy would sicken me.
@@kemhayes6485 Had a 1965 CHEVY ( DOG ) dumped it months later for that OLDS 442 and loved it !
Why the LS hate? If you want cheap power, it can’t be beat
jim logger you’re right they simply make power everywhere bc technology
Absolutely love the Olds 455!
They really never got the respect they deserved with everyone being so obsessed with the Chevy motors and now the LSs, and they probably won't ever get the respect they deserve. But more than a few Chevelle guys have been embarrassed by a lowely little 442 and it's always great seeing their reaction when they are. Awesome car! Keep it Olds!
So True
I bought a car as a divorce present for myself :D
I was wondering how he had money left after the divorce lol
Atoweha Always take care of yourself first, keep private accounts and plenty of cash out of the bank. Nowadays with how women are, it's better to just assume they will divorce you.
+Joe11Blue Well said! Great to see guys that see the truth rather than the naïve stupid man-ginas! PS I just got out of a divorce and am fed up of all of my naïve and stupid friends who are living a lie/life trap
Props to the film crew, the end sunset shot was amazing, never mind the driving footage.
I was going to post the same thing!
Oldsmobile did not pay them anything sence they have been out of production and retired from GM for the past 12 years R.I.P. Olds (1897- 2002 ) .
i like the fact that its not a mainstream muscle car. in fact Ive never seen one before and it probably makes just as good of a race car as the Camaro which are unbelievably over-used.
I'm a Ford person but I grew up with Oldsmobiles&if you've never driven an F85,you don't know what you're MISSING. GREAT CAR.
Olds used to dominate the road, loved the Hurst Olds. This is a very well done project, beautiful car!
Liked the fact he went w/Olds power.....a REALLY sweet ride!!!!
Don't know why, but when he said "take the kids for ice cream" instead of "take the kids to school" I instantly liked this guy.
Yessir, I got a 72 Corvette and love it. And almost all the cars in that range lol
I noticed that light out too.
I agree, but I would go so far as to say 38-72 American cars, with 46-60 being the high point of styling. Also love that he kept his Olds an"Olds".
My favorite classic muscle car is a 1970 roadrunner 440 six pack
Finally! I'm glad to see someone keep an Olds motor in something! You'd be surprised what an Oldsmobile will do with a little attention!
Beautiful ! Gotta put a smile on his face every time he picks up his grinning kids ! Nicely done : )
Love it! Everyone seems to overlook the Oldsmobile's and Pontiac's of this era for the must have over priced Camaro's, Chevelle's and Nova's etc. Pontiac and Oldsmobile engines are under rated also, properly built they are great engines that make tons of torque.
Don't forget Mercury, man. 60's Mercuries are badass. . .
Beautiful lines and great colour combinations. I can't remember the last time I saw an offset single stripe rather than the more common double down the centre, but it looks great. The sound speaks for itself.
That Oldsmobile is very happy terrorizing the roads again.
One of my favorite episodes of Big Muscle to date!
there needs to be a tuned big muscle co episode. Mike Musto and Matt Farrah in 1 video would be awesome lol.
Nice to finally see an Oldsmobile on Big Muscle. Great show guys.
Definitely nice to see that he stuck with the Olds engine. Major props for that. I kind of want the tires to have taller sidewalls, but that's really just nit-picking. I think it would make it look much more natural and more Trans-Am era, though. But all my bench-judging aside, this thing is awesome!
Awesome I've been wanting to see this car running. I have also a 65 f85 just dropped a 455. Love cruising in it.
Super nice 65 Cutlass F-85
Damn that's a sweet car, I love everything about this Cutlass! Bad ass! Thanks /BIG MUSCLE for featuring all these nice cars.
So glad to see that she has an Olds big block instead of the ever popular LS V8 conversion.
+LTR302 I appreciate how Chevy/Ford have the biggest and cheapest aftermarket. Some people wouldn't be able to get into this hobby without them. That being said, having a car with a correct engine makes it that much more special.

+jdr ok old buick pontiac and cadillac are very different from any other engine manufacturer
I love olds thank you for showing it lest we forget our oldsmobiles
Absolutelly brilliant! Got the looks, the power, the handling. Love it!
great GT build. good combination of old and new. well done
This car was my background for months! I followed the build on pro touring for months
The car is beautiful! I had a 66 f85 cutlass convertible with the 330 4bbl. Lottsa fun when your a teenager! Mooing down the street with that Q jet singing!
The camera shot around 10:10 with the red sky was incredible holy shit!! Great video guys, great to ride in another unique car
i love that it does not have a LS in it!!
And no falken tires
Satellite 10/10 for originality, these cars are too good for that motor.
saw this beauty at Goodguys Heartland Nationals.. totally amazing!
I kind of tracked this build on Instagram, and being an Olds guy, I LOVE THIS CAR. THANK YOU for keeping the Olds power plant! LS motors aren't the key to every build, and I love this one because of the originality. Nice job. Hopefully mine will be featured one day. :)
Very nice car!! I`ve got a 65 f85 too. I`m just getting ready to start working on it.It inspires me to keep going with it. Will be a long project.

Best series ever.
I absolutely love the Old's cutlass, I never owned one between the years of 64 to 67 they were very hard to find for me but I owned at least 25 cuttlass's when I was younger and my first cutlass that I bought from a very good friend in highschool was my favorite because me and my cousin did a lot of work to it and it ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile at the Atco speedway in Atco new jersey and I also put a 411 posi rear in it and the front tires would come up off the ground and the back tires would be screaming it was awesome and I loved it ❤️😎👍
What a gorgeous ride! Can't believe, however, that this is the *first* Olds you guys have featured. o.0
I've seen this guy's pearl white '66 Malibu and man it has a bangin' interior!
I love this Show on UA-cam!!
Greetings From Germany
I love this car. I had a 65 f85 with a 350 rocket and powerglide 2 speed transmission. I could wind it up to 70 before it would hit 2nd. Funny, I also had a problem with the driver side brake light. That brake light got me more than 1 ticket 😂. Beautiful car!
Now there's a hot rod I could see myself in. Like the color, the wishlist on the side (althought the car probably has everything on it) - I could do without.
Exactly the kind of car I like. Mid sixties classic muscle, big block with a 5 speed manual and set up to go round corners!
I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue but makes me want to go few a decades back and get a Cutlass from the 60s.
he has the right recipe and it has been my vision for a long time as well!
They did a good job on that 65 cutlass wow.
Nice video. This is something out of the ordinary you can appreciate.
My brother had a 66 and 68 442 ragtop. He said anyone could build a Chevy but Olds performance took talent He had aftermarket rods and pistons, big tube headers and a huge holley carb. Wisconsin represent!
Fantastic videography. Looking better at 144p than most YT vids do at 1080. Well done /DRIVE
Beautiful cutlass for with old school olds power
Great looking car! Very nice, very nice.
you have a lovely creation. I had a 66 F-85 4door with a 330 cid 2 barrel
Big Block
I'm really digging those amber lights. Kind of wish I could get some of that for my car!! Even if I do have to switch from plastic to glass!
I photoshopped a superbird wing on this exact type of Oldsmobile using a flipped C pillar as the wing, and it looks sick.
'77 Olds Ninety-Eight 2dr coupe, 5.7 ltr 350 Rocket, looks sick and evil at a stand still with aftermarket wheels. The long body lines and lowered front end stance made the roof look chopped. Lol the suspension has more computers in it than the engine does.
I’d like to know more about that. I hope to maintain integrity yet improve performance
I was stunned when I first saw this video because I didn't think anybody cared about a pre 1968 olds product at all in the performance dept any ways. I own a 1966 cutlass 4 door. Such a beautiful car.

'65 442 2 door hardtop
'66 Cutlass Supreme 2 door hardtop

True art in muscle. That’s what I’m gonna do to my 68 conv. M-22.
damn beautiful car that isnt compromised aesthetically, but has the upgrades. those brakes...
I. Had a 1966 442 air, power steering, pw brakes, bucket seats, console, Hurst 4 speed shifter, and a factory tach. 400 big block.
You finally found out...I owned a '67 442 rag-top big block set up the same way Edelbrock, Holly double pumpers, Squeeze, etc. No lettering on the outside tho...a super sleeper. man what a nice car I always been a cutlass lover

Too much of a parts mish-mash with no history to it.
If anyone was wondering, the window says "Stielow Who?"
It was bothering me.
google Mark Stielow
hes got a wicked 69 pro touring camaro, im sure their friends and its more of a stab at his popularity
ndinadis Agreed, that Camaro is bad ass. This Olds is cool, but nowhere near the same level.
You're killing it Mike...
Cheers Jeff!
Olds have always been under rated, I love em', 66 chevelles little brother as far as im concerned, love it
OH yeah a big block Olds thats what I'm talking about. Wish I still had my 455 cutlass!!
I have an actual 65 442 and it is a really fun car to drive. The big block 400 puts out a lot of engine and gets her really moving. I would love to drive this car and see how she pulls.
Ur a lucky man Rob.... Nice set up
beautiful car
Driver side brake light is out @ 6:42. Bad ass car overall. Love the set up.
I love it ! Beautiful Car
It sounds so good!
Thanks for the nice video!
I love those cars. Maybe my next project car will be a 442.
That car was well done. Never knew about those cars I always hear about the others that GM made at that time.
