@@TheOnlyGimmeturben Actually, her father and her had a fine relationship before she started to show symptoms. If you've watched the show, they talked and laughed together until she was forced into being admitted by her father hence why she got a bit angry.
The fact that she never had any episodes in the psych ward is really crucial because the reason why she goes into her episodes is thinking that there are rats in her walls. That was the trigger considering how it's mostly quiet in an isolation cell .. she was better off being treated in there than at home

Actually, most western nations have provision exactly like that to combat psychiatric holds. In Canada, once you are held for a certain point you have to have a hearing to determine competency (and it has to be repeated). Doctors get things wrong and, especially in this case, there was a conflict of interest.

Actor playing Doctor: "Nurse, 900ml of Morphine, stat!"
Medical Consultant: "WTF?!? Who put that in the script?!"
Director: "I did, what's the problem?"
MC: "Oh, nothing much, except if that Doctor gives the Patient 900ml, they're going to be facing a Lawsuit and charges of Manslaughter which will ultimately result in the Revoking of their License! If you want to do this, scale it down to 500, that's the limit you can go before you get close to killing someone.."
      Director: "Dually noted.."
Oh, and before you get all coy and go "Aaaand what makes YOU such an "Expert"..??", I have a Batchelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts which I got after four gruelling years at one of the best Universities in the UK and have actually played Medical Staff meaning I made friends with a bloke who used to be a Paramedic for London Ambulance in '97.

YoshiNator experts DONT KNOW what they are talking about.... I suffer with 4 kinds of AUTISM.... when I was a child EXPERTS told my family .... “he’s a problem child doing it for attention”..... “ lock him in a room and he will stop”.... this is what EXPERTS said about me as a child.....I suffer with things that mean I can’t read body language.....and can’t understand emotions like other people.... I also don’t like being touched..... can’t stand high pitch sounds and yet it took 27 years to be diagnosed with NOT one BUT 4 different things..... why should I have to wait 27 yrs to get help...... why do people NOT believe autism is real.... they can clearly see we r different to other people but it’s only RECENTLY that people are even acknowledging autism...... EXPERTS have existed for this for years but I know FROM PERSONAL experiences that they DO NOT no what they r talking about

@@zachall101 - You do know that research and knowledge about autism has changed so much over the years right? It might be a case of things back when we were young that autism wasn't that well known about - because you know medical science is a constantly evolving thing as we learn more - OR you had a few crap doctors in your time, or I really don't know. Or it could be country related? where are you from? Look back to the 1960's-80's, if you had autism they'd label you as schizophrenic and some would be sent to permanent mental hospitals. Things have changed so much since.
This day and age that isn't normal. I feel bad for you, but at the same time, your opinion is heavily skewed due to your experience. Times have changed. Though with the whole anti-vax movement you'd assume we're slipping back into the stone ages or something. Stay safe and well, just remember though "experts" back then don't have the same knowledge as "experts" right now. Please don't tar people who are working to help people with the same brush that you tar the people from your past with. Experts can only be experts in the current knowledge available, research is always an on going thing, there's things even in this modern era that will be wrong - and in the future people will discover better ways of diagnosing and treating things. It's just how life and medicine works.

Though i get what the OP is saying, i'd rather trust someone in the field than a surgeon who has no knowledge about mental health (and tbh from the clip does seem to have a bit of a rescuer complex - it could be because he's used to saving people in surgery - doesn't really work the same with mental health)

I think every loved one of someone suffering from a persistent psychological condition basically is thinking: *Just get better already!* However, it rarely works that way.
For Connor the problem was compounded by the fact that he's a surgeon. To be able to function, a surgeon needs a certain degree of arrogance to pursue the solution they've determined is necessary no matter how severe or urgent the situation - To believe in themselves and that they can save their patient. It's just that this mindset carried over into an area where he has no expertise. I think that Dr Charles would have been happier if Connor had done some research and could reassure him that he was aware of Robyn's condition, challenges and the regime he had to work with to protect Robyn. Instead, he basically said: "Hey, I've got it! Trust me!"

It really is. I have schizophrenia. And right now im managing it well, but the times i cant are hell. One of the tools i use is reality/fact checking. Where i ask someone i trust in the room if they are experiencing the same thing i am. And when they say no, its helpful because then i know i probably need to take my meds and check in with my therapist soon. But at the same time its really fucking scary. Because when one thing isnt real, i start to question if anything around me is real. But its still important that i fact check. Because then i can get help

Haven't they learned to listen to Dr Charles after all the years together, like seriously?
His duty is to read people and see what's going on mentally. He if anyone should be qualified to tell what's best for her and he's one of the people licenced to do so. They should know by now that if he sees something, they should listen to it. And this episode just solidifies that he don't allow it to become personal, even if what he does will make the person hate him. As long as it's the best course of action for the patient, he'll do it.

Take phobias for example, so many people think phobias are the same as fear, not understanding that it is a DEBILITATING fear. Telling phobic people to "just get over it".
