  • In the last video I get the pistons and crankshaft installed only to find out that I could not turn the crank a full 360 degrees. In this video, I start to tear everything back down again in an attempt to find the issue.

Great vid bro, don't beat yourself up about it though, these lessons we learn will last us a lifetime.
I was so eager to rebuild my Dad's own that I totally omitted tagging all the screws and bolts, now I've finished rebuilding the engine, it's taking me a lifetime to find what 🔩 goes where🤦🏾😅😅. So we learn as we go along.

Hahah, yeah I can relate to the screws and bolts thing. I have bags of labeled screws and bolts for different sections but have realized that they are different lengths and so I now have to be very careful in re-assembly so as to not crack the block by putting in the wrong length screw. I also wish I had taken pictures of the engine as I disassembled it, instead of thinking I could rely on the video I recorded. It turns out I missed a lot of stuff and the service manual is not as much help as I was hoping it would be. I think that I will be looking at lots of online pictures to figure out where some of the parts go. Good luck on your build!

@@AGeeksGarage I have another one that I'll be disassembling, which I intend to take pics of everything, so when in doubt you can give me a shout.

Usually this is caused by one of the 4 girdle stays being installed wrong. The counterweight hits the stay if it’s installed wrong.

Yep that is exactly what it was. Took a little bit to figure that out, but once I got it pulled back apart I was able to flip it around and get right back to putting it back together. Thanks for watching.

Good catch. I would have over looked that 100x. IMO its not a very good design. You are set up to fail. Our cars/motors are a PITA lol

Yeah, I am very quickly learning that I should have started out with a 1970s car as my first rebuild to get a little more 'skillz before tackling something this big, but the Dodge Stealth was one of my childhood dream cars, so I just couldn't resist starting here. Nothing like learning to swim my jumping into the Atlantic Ocean ... right?
