    Chrysler did have iron foundries in AUS and there were several AUS exclusive castings. In the states the 318 and 340 both used full floating con rods until around 1978

    If it can rotate then it will rotate. That applies to the rings, valves and snap rings.

      Yes , someone needs to do an experiment and pull an engine down shortly after a rebuild

    Back in late 80's I built a 318 for my VIP, the motor came from a Dodge Truck and it had floating pistons ( circlips ), steel crank and adjustable rockers ( 273 ) that crank looks like it's steel not cast?

      Thanks for your input , the Australian dodge truck engines (I believe) either Slant , Hemi or 318 were all balanced supposedly.

      @@unclebrentsshed4253 id like to know that too, i have a truck 360 i believe 1972 the block number comes up with, ive not looked to actualy see how its ballanced, i assumed the same as the car 360s
      heads are off, not pulled the rest down, as its stock pistons, but flat tops, all other 360s ive look into from above had lower compression pistons.
      i got hemi performance to build a 318 for my 4 speed 2.92 diff run 360 heads, 340 4 barrel intake from the 1970s, man it hauled arse.
      no they left the pistons down in the bore, i asked for a steel crank,
      double row timing chain, windage tray, ,high volume oil pump, i drove it 12 months, gear box cracked, got it welded put together, had the engine with me, and mate so called sold my charger on me while my daughter was getting cancer treatment.
      318 i have the heads off, not looked into the bottom end.
      31 years its sat, i wonder if they put in everything i ordered.
      i defanatly got the big cam, at 6000rpm in top gear the lines on the road turn into one solid line.
      young and stupid.

      @unclebrentsshed4253  Рік тому

      Personally I’d just shave the heads as much as you can to up the compression
