WOW! What an OUTSTANDING American Hero! THANK YOU very much for creating this high quality video lesson on a this fascinating historical figure! May his legacy live forever!
Nice. He is in our family tree books.
Wow. I would love to have a relative that cool.
your name implies so. Very cool!
@Darrin Clem, nice to meet you. We are related. 💜 Meredith Clem

@@thistletumbleweed4757 I will try to find you.
Well done.Interesting video
That was really interesting.
Imagin 20, 30 and 40 something year olds saluting to the young teenager. Cool!
Upsetting till they find out the only reason he was promoted was for being stupid and couldn’t pass two exams then thats when the eye brows go up! 🤨
@@needmorecowbell6460 what a nasty comment!
There were boys as young as nine serving as drummers. Toward the end when soldiers were thin on the ground the drummer boys were allowed to enlist at eleven.
Cool story
He really kicked butt on the battlefield! If the Union army had more troops like him at the beginning they would’ve won the war immediately
Amazing story
Great story!
The toughest postman in history
Civil War surgeon Dr. Max Rossvally described a double amputation he performed on a wounded drummer boy after the battle of Gettysburg. His book was made into a movie "The Drummer Boy" in 2017. Dr. Rossvally's book can be read online here: @t
Hooah!!
This is an amazing story and great video.
There is a wonderful world of disney episode about him. It is fanciful a bit but basicaly ttrue.
I'm surprised they made a few Civil War movies that and Mosbys Marauders.
There are no reports of John Clem asking to be re-instated into the Army in 1917 to join the AEF. That would have been the coolest thing ever. Someone who fought in the American Civil War was well as WWI.
This kid reminds me of Napoleon.
HE'S COOL BUT NOT LIKE ME IM A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE YOU SEE! RAWR
Well i am a relative of John clem. I don't think it was he wanted to kill .it was his love of country and duty
**Read Darrin Clem's post above 🙂
@@thistletumbleweed4757 ok
This was a man, at 11 years old.
im 11
Real men back then...
I wish they'd make a real movie about he's life. Not that cornball movie Disney made back in the 60s
I liked that movie. It was sweet.
Shows clearly he signed his name Klem, not Clem un less someone else did it. Five of his six children died before adulthood according to Google which is not what it says here
Crazy how a small child can have such a strong passion to kill. It begs the question, why?
Oh nice!…. got promoted for being stupid and failing two exams.
Back in those days you had to have connections to get into west point. Something like hollyweird did so there kids could get into u.s.c.
He volunteered to fight in a war at 10 year's old and was wounded. You got no room to be calling him stupid he's accomplished more in his life than you could ever hope to so keep seething.
