I have dozens of such things like this drum which are of not day to day use. In fact useless. No one will buy it from you. Pawn shop business is of high risk. And they are taking that risk.

He calls these experts, tells them what it is, and then they go online and do research really quick and then rehearse a few factoids and drive in to lowball the seller.
Yeah... They call the seller and tell the amount what the customer wants and the expert will come down from that price
