Question should be... Russia against Ukraine, as Israel against Palestine.
Russia condemned all of Ukraine for a few nazis. Israel condemns all of Palestine for a few terrorists. Both acts abhorrent, and unjust. Hel readies a place for them both.
Both, Ukraine and Palestine, innocent children, mothers and elderly, are the victims of bigger aggressors. Both of which bomb civilian targets, destroy infrastructure, destroy hospitals with patients inside. In plain view of world, with impunity. Encouraged, and blessed by their religions, as holy warriors of just cause.
And almost half of Palestine's dead are children. Thousands of thousand in just a couple weeks.
Only dark godes demand the blood of children as tribute from their worshipers.

Just recently I read where a paleontologist discovered a hominid species Homo naledi in South Africa from 200,000 years ago that buried its dead, and there's evidence that it may have used carved symbols to communicate, with human-like hands, and yet its brain was the size of an orange. Wouldn't it be interesting to think that this group wasn't concerned with original sin or an understanding that we're born without no sin, and living our lives there's a natural proclivity toward antisocial behavior, and, yet, is this species a human predecessor? Or, human? Where would be the 'line'?
Anyway, I think that Tolstoy implies 'happiness' is a universally accepted definition of that particular concept with regard to an outward 'state of mind', however, there are many reasons why there is no happiness in a family e.g. poverty, incest, addiction, crime, abusive parenting without examining further as to the 'cause' of no happiness. I don't think it's stupid at all.
As the war drags on, surely those supporting Russian barbarism in its attack on Ukraine haven't read any newspapers, talked with others that provide more honest information, can think for themselves, or do these war-mongers just dig their heels in (like the folks in the US that insist that the previous president wasn't involved in activities that appeared to be disruption of the government)? Surely, as more and more information comes out, can't they realize that they're just buy others' stories to appease their consciences, and give themselves excuses for participating in the 'cult'? How can folks persist in self-deception for so long? Do they go to the grave thinking that their point of view is the most accurate?

Always find it questionable how some Russians believe their country is non-violent or even in some cases a victim, however their country is the largest in the world (70% larger than the second largest, Canada) and stretches over 12 time zones and has many many ethnicities under the "Russian Federation".

Russia has vast territories due to Siberia and the Urals.
Numerous tribes lived on these lands, dependent on the Central Asian khans.
The Russians expelled these khans and established their power.
The local population became subjects of Russia and paid taxes to the treasury, continuing to practice their traditional craft.
The only people with whom the Russians had to fight were the Chukchi.
However, the Chukchi (who were a very warlike people) in turn did a good job of spreading rot on neighboring peoples.

There is a Monument of Friendship between Russian and Bashkir folks which was placed on the day of the annexation of Bashkortostan to Russia. And Bashkortostan is not the only region that did so. I can't imagine a nation peacefully ceding its land to someone who claims it on the basis of ownership, say 2000 years ago. Israel should stop playing the anti-Semitism card - it has nothing to do with this conflict. As for Hamas, it acts not only against ordinary Israelis but also against its own people - it has rightly been labelled a terrorist organisation.

Israel should not kill civilians for the sake of destroying Hamas, regarding Ukraine this is typical aggression of the United States and Western countries, look at the expansion of NATO since 1950, and in Ukraine the United States carried out a coup d'etat, not hiding, but advertising it to the very top from Nuland distributing cookies to the protesters, before John Kerry and the president, the actions of the Russian Federation are quite natural, in Ukraine there are Slavs who know the Russian language and simply Russian people who do not agree with what happened, they tried to resolve it peacefully for 8 years, what did Hollande and Merkel say? That’s right, we just needed time to deceive Putin and arm Ukraine for war, in fact we armed ourselves and the war began when they said we won’t carry out Minsk, they turned the cities into military fortresses, stockpiled weapons and used force against those who disagreed, and also Crimea They declared that they would take it by military means and that NATO ships would be stationed there? This is a peaceful approach and Russia attacked? Majority of Russians cannot read in foreign languages, so those books or articles or web sites that you are talking about are not easily consumable for them.
Russians believe that the most widespread opinion is the correct one. Since everyone, including people whom they respect, repeating narratives of Russian propaganda, then they assume that it must be true. Moreover Russians are chauvinistic/nationalistic people, they multiply by 0 all information that makes their country look bad, they simply consider it a western disinformation and don't think much of it.

The fact that the original “Israel” was located in an autonomous oblast in Russia for one, and many citizens of Israel to this day have Russian roots and are Russian speaking, the fact that both Gaza and Ukraine are Jew controlled, the fact that Netanyahu is very close with Zelensky while the Iranian government which backs both Hamas and Hezbollah are also basically the servants of Putin
