It may be true that black families on average have lower credit scores… or maybe black famines will accept fewer approvals vs shopping for the very best rates… But all else being equal the rate sheets don’t care.
Black people are rejected more often for mortgage loans and are pushed into subprime mortgages. If they do manage to buy homes those home are appraised at lower values simply because someone black owns the home.
Thank you! I had this discussion with my mom recently. I said, “so you’re telling me that a loan officer, who is commission driven and doesn’t care who lives where so long as they get the commission for a purchase, is SO racist that they’ll forego the commission on a $1,000,000+ purchase because they don’t like black people? That they’ll RISK not being able to take care of their family because they so staunchly don’t want them to live there?” And she looked at me and said “yes”. That people are so racist that they’d rather not feed their families. And that’s when I knew she had gone off the deep end. People are too selfish to be racist over their own self interests (besides the WNBA but that’s a topic for another day).

The prison system wasn't created to be sexist. But male prisoners far outnumber women prisoners. Therefore, the prison system is sexist. That's Ryan's reasoning.
To better perfect your analogy the way that he would use it is saying that prison was created to place men in prison but down the line they had started to allow women to also become inmates and just because the women are now going to jail along with the men it doesn't mean that the effect or the intention behind the jail has changed it's only expanded So instead of injustice being done on black people it's now being done on all people in America and that's the claim that's being made is that we're all equal now so the system is no longer racist. The point that Ryan is making is that even though the system now has laws in place against that the effects of what was put in place in the beginning are still having an echo within the psychology and the actions of those people that those laws were put on against. So in a sense the system is still racist in the fact that the effect of its original racist intention is still having a causality within the people of color today. And Matt does not want to acknowledge that.
Always question the systems around you, even if you think it's stupid and the conclusion is self-evident. Maybe the reason more men are in prison is simply because men are inherently more likely to commit crimes, but correlation is not the same as causation and maybe there's some other factor at play. Prisons probably aren't sexist, but that doesn't mean we don't have other societal issues pushing more men towards behavior that gets them locked up. It doesn't mean men are inherently prone to violent crimes. The point isn't to make blanket statements about prisons being racist or sexist, it's about identifying why patterns exist to see if we can actually do something about it.

Ryan simply states that there are numerous studies that show racial discrimination in mortgage lending, but fails to provide a citation for one. He also admits that people will probably find fault in them which is true. I can see why he never gave one specific citation study as most research studies are false to begin with. HE WAS RELYING on people watching this not to check out the veracity and efficacy of the studies. I have looked at the various studies out there and Blacks do pay more, but each study does not ask the question as to whether they are justified in charging more. They simply state there is a discrepancy and that is evidence/proof enough of racial bias. In other words some of the researchers confabulate correlation = causation. They leave it at that but provide no evidence to link "racial discrimination in mortgage markets"?!? Additionally, the title is very misleading. It's unbelievable how disingenuous the author is. For example the difference within the same income range ($75K - $100k) is only .00085% or 8.5 % of 1%. Thats not even close to being statistically significant. The only significant difference is in the ($30K - $44999) range of income. The thing I wish Ryan said is “if the inequalities are not systemic, do you think that Black people are just incapable of success, therefore inferior?”
That’s an obvious false dichotomy. Thinking people should know better than that. Many black people, both Americans and immigrants are quite successful. Because the rates at the “racial” group level aren’t equal doesn’t in any way indicate discrimination or inferiority anymore than Asians being at the top of the economic ladder indicates inherent inferiority of whites or discrimination against them. It’s obviously bad reasoning. There are many other very logical reasons for why that is or could be.
Could have Been an interesting interview about the MOVIE, but instead Ryan decided to run the interview off the tracks talking about specific policy issue BS that Matt had no specifics expertise in. I’m other words, he derailed an interview about an interesting movie to try to win an argument that no one was having except him. The republicans don't understand that "systemic racism" is an analytic label rather than a moral condemnation of the individuals maintaining the systems. The system itself is racist and should be reformed, regardless of whether or not you can find a primary sinner.
Leftists literally control the system at every level and NONE of it helps white people in any way. We can go piece by piece or wholesale, I can destroy your entire worldview very easily either way.

Race is not like being a man. Race is a stupid idea, it has more to do with culture and that is valid as far as it goes. What is REAL is family groups or family genetic groups.
It is intent... Thats the thing those who throw that word around keep forgetting. You could hate a person and say mean things to and about that person... But that doesn't mean you hate the person's race. Intent is a thing of the mind, and can be persieved by others based on a pattern of behavior. The problem now is that the woke has skipped over that "pattern of behavior" part and pick an isolated statement or event, ascribe their own intent to it with no idea what the actual motivation of the person involved is... And determine based on their preconceived ignorance that that 1 thing makes you racist
@@bruchepeasracism isn’t about hate, it’s about a feeling of superiority. I can feel superior to you and not hate you, but just think you are inherently lesser than me because of your race. @@corvacopia Saying racism is about a feeling of superiority is quite an oversimplification. Racism is treating someone differently.... Or more accurately treating people negatively or discriminatory based upon their race, irrespective of the motivation, wether it be disdain, superiority /inferiority complex, personal bias or anything else. The common denominator here is that racism is an action based upon treating people as a collective instead of as individuals... But, how do you know that's what drives a person's actions when you are not in their head? This is the arrogance that people who throw that word around possess which pisses me off. The only way to judge a person as racist is either to have them admit it, or observe their pattern of behavior over a period of time, it cannot be determined based on a single action or idea a person expresses
@@bruchepeas we are what we repeatedly do. If someone repeatedly makes racist remarks about others, and choses to hurt them and cause harm to them with their speech, then that person is probably a racist because they have a pattern of racist behaviour.

Correct!

There are laws that protect against discrimination based on race, so, if the cases this guy cites (the “widely accepted studies”) then there are lawsuits which would have followed.
You are spot on.
can understand why Ryan never named one study on Mortgage discrimination.
See High-Income Black Homeowners Receive Higher Interest Rates than Low-Income White Homeowners Tuesday, February 16, 2021 | Raheem Hanifa. "While additional studies are needed to identify the specific causes of Black-white interest rate disparities, widespread racial discrimination in mortgage markets has played a role." They leave it at that but provide no evidence to link "racial discrimination in mortgage markets"?!?
Additionally, the title is very misleading. It's unbelievable how disingenuous the author is. For example the difference within the same income range ($75K - $100k) is only .00085% or 8.5 % of 1%. Thats not even close to being statistically significant. The only significant difference is in the ($30K - $44999) range of income. I wish he had made his data available or point to his source so that one could determine the randomness and whether the study was under powered (e.g. not enough data to draw a conclusion).
Might also suggest you read "Why Most Published Research Findings Are False" by John Ioannidis, a professor at the Stanford School of Medicine. It will open your eyes!
Thomas Sowell succinctly puts, “Some things are believed because they are demonstrably true. But many other things are believed simply because they have been asserted repeatedly-and repetition has been accepted as a substitute for evidence.”
You should also consider how Obama was involved in a suit against Citibank for discrimination in give Mortgages in Chicago. Of the 186 mortgages that were given only 19 of those still own the house with a clean credit rating. Thats ~ 90% failure rate. Matt's right about Haiti. Folks forget that Haiti is only one half of an island, and the Dominican Republic that makes up the other half is doing relatively well. Secondly, for all the talk about outside influence in Haiti that ignores how the host is basically implying that it's "only fair" that the haitian be brought to the US since the US is somehow the bad guy, forgetting that what he's saying was bad in Haiti is exactly what he's supporting being done to the people of Springfield OH.
