IF IT WAS NOT FOR YOU, WE WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO BUILD THE SHEDS WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! KEEP MAKING GREAT HOW TO VIDEOS.
You're very welcome!
Absolutely the best instruction video I have viewed to date. Followed every step and did not have any issues! Fantastic and well done!
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIVORCE MY KNOW IT ALL HUSBAND. ALMOST DONE EXCEPT TO ANCHOR THE ROOF. NOW TO MY BOTTLE OF VODKA TO CALM THE NERVES. LOL.
Haha Cheers! 🍻
Very well done, especially the assembly of the door hinges, as the instruction manual was not well done concerning them. The steel roof bar in my kit was raw metal, so I cleaned the tape goo off, degreased it, primed and spray painted it black. All else went together nicely. Thank you, Duke.
Dude. I just put mine together this morning and I did it alongside your crystal clear, excellent guidance. THANK YOU.
Wish we had looked for this video before we started the assembly!!! This made it SO much easier to figure out, as the printed instructions that came with the shed were very hard to understand, especially the black roof support bracket and roof locks. You saved us ... thank you!!!
You're welcome! I'm so happy it helped.
Thanks! Really helpful!!
Thank you. This video was very helpful.
Just finished assembly. Chris your instruction video was spot on. Made assembly a breeze.
My job is done here. #dropsmic (seriously, thank you for the comment and I'm so happy it helped!)
Your video proved incredibly helpful. I tremendously appreciate your work on this!
Slapping mine (Suncast BMS5700) together tomorrow....glad I thought to check UA-cam for a few pointers! You can bet I'll have your video handy during the build! Thanks!
Your video was so helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the tutorial.
Congrats on that sense of humor.
Thank you so much i just put mine together and it didn’t have a manual since i got it for $50 and its super nice . Also i used a drill carefully with 0 issues
Thanks! You saved me on the metal bar. Great video!
Excellent and engaging style; informative and useful content. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the video. Helped us get our shed assembled.
Glad I could help!
$439 after taxes now 🫠 tried to get it delivered and they quoted me $79 so I dragged this bad buy to my crv this afternoon all by myself. Your video was helpful, thank you!
Excellent vidéo. Very helpful.
thank you very instructive
Great video and thank you! Got it done in 45 minutes.
I love this!!!
Lots of help thanks man lost manual this saved me
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS VIDEO!!! 😭 my partner and I just got this same shed and it took us a couple hours just to get to the part where you put the door hinges on the opening doors. We were able to finish out the rest of the shed smoothly after watching your video. 😭❤️❤️❤️ your a real homie! 🖐🏽🙏🏼🙌🏽
Thanks for saving my life on the black support bracket and the roof rocks. Your clip is just an awe.
Happy to help!
Thank you sir! I used your video for my Suncast BMS5700.
You're welcome... Glad it helped!
Thanks man, this was awesome
Thanks for watching, Lane!
This really helped where we were getting stuck! Thank you
Thanks for watching, Karen! I'm stoked that it helped you out. It's an awesome shed!
This was a great video, super helpful. It really made assembling my shed much easier. Also, kudos on production quality
Thank you for the awesome feedback!
Thank you!! Very helpful
You're welcome!
Just purchased this shed. Getting ready to put together, I hope.
Thank you. Couldn't figure out the support bracket👍
Awesomely explain
You did a wonderful job on how to assemble. Should add how to use a screw driver to line up the hinge holes, and use soapy water to slide the walls on which will require less mallet pounding.
Best instructional video ever! Never needed the manual instructions, only but to try to figure out the roof lock. The parts were different. My 5x2 Craftsmen Shed had two plastic right angle pieces to screw into the roof with 4 screws on each side. Still have 6 screws left. Still trying to figure out where they go. Not sure why thy changed the roof piece. My guess it was cheaper to use the plastic then metal. Whose knows it looks great. Thank you.
Great video, I purchased for 299 at lowes and did not even open up instructions after watching your video twice. Great job thanks. fully assembled in 2 hours. It did fit in the trunk of my Nissan Altima while it hung out the back a little but got it home no problem just tied the trunk lid closed.
Awesome! I'm glad my video helped! Thank you so much for the comment Joseph!
The box mine came in was destroyed by rain so the instructions were also, so this video was a great help. The screws for the hinges I was provided with were a size to large. I just drilled out the threaded hole on the hinges with a 7/32 drill bit and then I could get the screw in. I had to start the screw before I put the hinges on though then tighten them down after the door was fully on.
This was so helpful and to the point. I am grateful. I built mine on my own within the hour! 5'2 115lbs. IDK why everyone on the Lowes site was complaining it was a breeze.
Probably because they came here and watched this video :)
This was a big help
Thank you for watching & responding! I'm happy it helped you out!
Thank you so much.
Thanks for the help. The roof bracket bar was too small to make out in the directions. Then you made the roof secure feature easy to follow. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
Had not trouble until the metal Support Bracket. Couldn't figure out which direction and where it belonged. Instruction Manuel wasn't too clear on that. Thank you so much for you clear explanation.
I'm so glad that my video helped you out!! Thanks for the comment!
All that Craftsman products and those navy Vans tho' .. On my way to the backyard to put mine together. Thanks for the tutorial.. Cheers!
Thank you! This video helped speed things up quite a bit. Took about 2 hours with the help of my 7 year old. Instructions were great but some of my pieces were a little warped. Had to do a few adjustments. The quality isn't as good as a Keter model of similar size. Too lazy to take it apart and return so will use it. Thanks for the video.
Glad it helped! Than you VERY MUCH for the comment.
thank u I just sent this to my husband so he can use your directions instead of the directions that came with it ..craftsman*s directions are too hard. Thanks ur the real M.V. P.
This video was a giant help. The shed is well designed, and the instructions are good, but the video showed all the steps, and underlined all the fiddly bits. Thanks for a great video.
Cameron, you're the best. Thanks for watching and for the feedback. I'm so happy it was helpful! Enjoy the shed!
@@chris I just found the best part - the full Table of Contents to each section of the video - including the fiddliest part: 6:03
- Door hinge installation
Yessir! That took a little bit to figure out. The new chapters feature of UA-cam is awesome!
Thank u so much for putting this video 2gether it was a life saver or should I say shed saver cause I couldn't understand where that bar went or how to secure the roof and thabks 2 ur video now i know 👍 great job
So happy I could help!!
The last time I had a pair of Vans like yours they were made in Orange, CA, USA!
“Well, Hideeeho there neighbor!” 🤣
It's the little things that keep me entertained 😂
Three tips:
First, it’s okay to use a variable speed drill with the clutch (use one with a clutch) and speed control on the lowest setting. Second, run the bolts through the hinges before assembly. This wears some of the finish down beforehand and the bolts are easier to insert. Third, the small screws and the bolts are not the same size Phillips head. Make sure you have a #2 and a #3.
Going to have to disagree with point #2. I found putting the bolts in first made it more difficult to attach the hinges to the sides. Maybe you meant insert them and take them out? I didn’t have any issues putting the bolts on after the fact.
I struggled the most with the back panels. The manual didn't explain it clear. Thanks for this incredible how to video Chris!
So glad it helped you out, Daniel. I agree, the instruction manual wasn't the best--I think I said that a few times in my video haha. I'm hoping a lot of people and this video and it helps them out too.
This is identical to the Suncast 5700 series but it did not bring the two front L hook for the front roof support I will have to improvise on that one.
I viewed several videos on assembling these shed. Your video is superior to all of them excellent job. Mr. Tool Time guy.
Good video, thanks. Roof bracket threw me for a bit.
This is also marketed as the Suncast BMS5700 Shed (Wayfair). It may be a discontinued model?
Anyhow, This thing was a bit of a pain in the backside.
2 sets of instructions noting "addendums". +36 degrees outside, sweat in the eyes trying to refer to both sets of instructions.
Thank you for taking the time to create and post this video.
This one isn't discontinued... it's available right now at Lowes.
Thank you for watching and I'm so glad it helped!
Anyone else's doors constantly fall off or did I just suck at installing the hinges?
Dude me too, it took my forever
Honda mini van holds it just fine.
Thanks for this useful video. I literally did not need a manual. A fewcorrections: 1) the box fit into my Tesla S with rear seats folded, so it may also fit into bigger cars 2) the ceiling does not seem to have those lock pins anymore, instead screwed 90 degree brackets at the front
I just assembled one of these yesterday, and your video made assembly a cinch. Thanks so much. One question: The side panels and the back panels have a total of 6 chest-high threaded holes that are unused. They're fairly large (maybe 1/2"?). Any idea what their actual size is and what they might be used for?
Helped me throw it together in a few minutes with the help of my girls. Thx sir.
That's awesome!! So happy it helped. Hope you had a fun time with them!
Thank you! I had problems with the hinges...and the metal bar for the roof...but it's done. Just wondering instead of shelves, what hooks could I use?
Thank you for explaining the hooks.
So strange. I didn't finish building mine tonight because....I can not figure out how to install them????
The roof is all I have left to install.
I found the hinges to be a pain.
Looking forward to completing this tomorrow morning 🌅
Thanks again!
thank you for clarifying where the metal bracket goes since the drawings in the instructions do not show clearly. One pointer.... Brooms go bristles up so they dont get ruined and swashed.
I e had such trouble with this shed. First, the roof support bar that came in the box was twisted, so I had to wait for a replacement to arrive. Now one of the hinges won't clip into the roof. I came to watch your video again to see if I could find an answer but yours went together so easily.
I had trouble getting the provided 1/4” machine screw into the threaded hole of the door hinge, no matter how I tried. So I used a slightly smaller #12-24 x 1 1/2” stainless steel machine screw with a matching #12-24 stainless steel nut. It’s a tight fit getting the nut in, but with a little patience it’s doable. I did have to use a thin head wrench (7/16” I think) that I purchased from Home Depot to tighten the nut.
So if you can’t get the door hinges to work with the provided machine screws, try using a smaller machine screw with a matching nut.
I put together the smaller version of this shed 4’x2’ with roof that raises and had zero problems with the hinges and screws/bolts. HOWEVER, with this large version, I had the same issue experienced by others in that the bolts would not thread into the opposing hole…no matter what I tried. I put the bolts in before mounting them on the doors to make sure they would thread. It will go into the primary hole just fine but absolutely WILL NOT screw in any further. I even called Craftsman to complain 🙄 and was told to take photos of “the problem” and email to them. I ended up mounting the doors anyway and am hoping they stay on. I might try a drill once the battery charges because a screwdriver ain’t gonna do it!
This was a great video, thank you for posting. What Craftsman doesn't tell us is you should put some WD40 or something on the end of the hinge screws because it is a difficult drive other wise. I think I stripped the first one because after not being able to get the screw in I lubed the rest and they slid in easily. Only recommendation I have on top of the insights this video offers.
Super helpful video and got the install done in a few hours without help and taking long breaks! Question: after assembling it, how do you recommend transporting it to the final location?
I just pushed and pulled it outside my garage, around the side of the house to the back yard. It's fairly lightweight and was easy to do it by myself. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad my video helped!
Ha! Saved my marriage. I almost quit putting it together then remembered youtube. Thanks for the help!
Hey I live in a hurricane state of Florida and I want to attach the shed to the side of my house. I built a wood foundation and I'm thinking I could use some tie downs to secure the foundation. Any tips?
Great video. Owned this for a couple of years ago and am starting to think about putting in shelves. Before I do so though, have been trying to figure out what the holes are for, about chest height. Two on the back wall, one each on each side wall. Any ideas?
I believe there's some how-to information in the manual that came with it on how to build your own shelves to put in there.
Great video Chris; it was a tremendous help, but after five hours trying to thread the screws into the predrilled holes in the hinges, I have only succeed in securing two of the six hinges. I notice your video quickly skimmed over that task; any chance you have tips or a more focused video?
I was having trouble with this too. A little tricky because there's no track that guides the screw from one side of the hinge to the other. Make sure the corner of the hinge has fully hooked into that groove in your side wall. Support the door as you're working. Someone mentioned further down that screwing this in will take some brute force so you probably will want to use a drill. Make sure your screw is aligned with the exit point. If the screw is still locking up it may be worth checking that youre able to thread it through the hinge when it's off the door.
Same exact problem. About took it back to Lowe’s! 😡
I used another tool to “pry” the hinges up, from between the door and the wall part of the hinge. It helped me thread the screws, as the part of the wall the hinge attaches to, gets in the way. I had to hold the hinge in a pry up position, if that makes sense.
75% of the screws weren’t lined up for me either!
Is there a way to secure it to the ground? Are there locations for concrete anchors?
I got 5 of the 6 hinges to screw. The last one I can’t get to even start catching within the threads (I was starting them before attaching)
54:00 minutes. Thanks u so much for the helpful video.
Glad it was helpful! You were a lot quicker than I was at it :)
Nice Assemble guide!! I did mine without looking the Manual. I just watched this video!
Great work. Thank you very much!!
I just loaded two of these in my 3rd gen Toyota Prius.
What is the minimum size base to build to place floor on?
What size bolts I need to add a shelve?
Hello Chris, thanks for video. I'm trying to remove the roof. Tried to pry it open but the hinges are stuck and do not budge. Any ideas ?
I haven't tried to disassemble mine yet! It's still outside where you see at the end of the video holding crap :) Might have to wait for a warm day, leave it in the sun to warm up and then try again.
@@chris Hey, thanks for reply. I was able to take it apart.
My door didn't come with the roof lock to keep front of roof closed. It also wasn't in the manual listing of hardware. Was this a add on? Or am I missing parts? Purchased in 2021.
How do you cover small spaces inside?
Mine didn’t come with a lock for the roof or a door clip
Would you recommend caulking around all the seams to make it more water proof?
Great video. thank you!!
I live in San Diego (not the wettest climate) however I haven't noticed any water in mine. It definitely couldn't hurt though.
@@chris I did wind up caulking the back wall center and side seams from the outside, but I decided not to caulk the top edges in contact with the roof because I assume it would need SOME sort of ventilation for air flow. Otherwise any dampness might develop into mold. I am also trying to put some sort of "gutter" or diversion barrier along the top front edge of the roof so water doesn't run off the roof and down the front door.
Nice. It's good you thought to leave some ventilation in place because you're right... it still needs to breathe in there!
Read the instructions and Yes CONFUSED. your video really helped. Question. Interior walls at about 4 feet up is a bolt patters on all walls. Would you know the bolt size and thread?
thank you for this video. It really helps a visual learner like me. : ) BTW, you did an excellent job.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching AND taking the time to comment!
Is this really that easy !! I bought one two years ago. Haven't opened the box yet. My old one not the same as this, is bent all out of shape over 18 years. It is time to open the box , I guess.
Anyone have any good links / ideas to purchase some good shelving for this great shed? Prefer the same resin type like the shed materials itself, any help would appreciated?
The hinges are not held by the screws at all. I have no idea what Craftsman was thinking. You can literally rip them off with little effort. ua-cam.com/video/5idIcBu5QJA/v-deo.html
What are the threaded holes for on the right and left walls? Do they make accessories or something to go in those? :-/
That’s what I thought. Going to online to look.
Update to the hinge screw issue. You can actually start the screw into the hole and then mount and then tighten. The screw doesn’t pass thru a hole or anything like that it’s a V cutout that it goes into...
I need an experts advise: should I look into building the wooden platform or can it be put on top of regular patio tile?
Your patio tile should be just fine! The reason for a wood platform would be if you were to put the shed outside on uneven ground, or ground that's susceptible to moisture (dirt, gras, gravel, etc.)
Wow! Thank you so much for responding so quick! That’s great news! I’m going to get to work hahaha 💕
Let me know if you get stuck and I'll try to help out!
Regarding the hinges, it seems that the powder coating got on the threads so break in the holes by screwing the bolts into the holes before the doors go on. Trying that right now, and great video. I’m having my vodka whilst assembling...!!
Does this shed have holes for hooks? Thanks.
No, but you can add shelves (you have to DIY them however)
Could you fit a push mower in there?
12:08
Hi Chris: I just watched your video and my concern is the hinges 3 on each side. I can't seem to screw in the BB screws through the clip. What am I doing wrong? I'm anxiously awaiting your response. Thank you Robert
I recommend you trying to put the fasteners into the metal clip before trying to do it with the door on. Make sure they go in correctly, and then you'll know the correct angle that it needs to be for the threads to take it properly. If they still won't thread properly, it could be either that A) you stripped the threads or B) it wasn't machined properly. If either, then you'll either need a tap & die set to correct it, or contact CRAFTSMAN for replacements.
@@chris Thank you Chris
@@chris Chris with your knowledge I was able to screw in 5 of the 6 hinges. I will call sears to replace 1 BB screw and hinge because they never lined up and they are stripped. Thanks again for your video and expertise.
No problem! So happy it helped! I hope you mean Lowe's though. Sears doesn't sell the NEW Craftsman products like this shed.
How does it stand against rain? Does water get inside?
None that I've noticed
During hinge installation, how did you get the screw to go all the way through. No matter how I've attempted it, it won't screw through as your shows.
Brut force. That's the answer
Correct! :)
Is it fairly easy to move once assembled?
Extremely. I pushed it out of my garage, onto my driveway, around the side of my house, through a wooden gate and then an iron gate to get to my back yard... all by myself, with very little effort.
Looks good, I'm looking to buy one. But once you get that lawnmower in there, there's no much room for anything else.
