  • Review of AS Mongolia Pants compared to Klim Dakar Pants. Layering system is something I have used for many years of adviriding, to me this is as natural and practical as it has been in ages for any other outdoor clothing for sports or adventures. The Mongolia Jacket is designed for adventure, trail and dual sport riding. Includes protections but could also be used over a separate body armor.
    Size 36 Standard, on 6' (182cm) and 100Kg.

    02:34 doing the famous walk again there are we 👏🏻🤣 There are no doubt... you have way more experience with this than you let us know 🤣🍻 Great comparison Tjommi.... Can't wait to see the upgraded model of the Mongolia pants. One of my favourite thing about the klim Badlands pants is the ventilation and the knee pads or how to describe it. I put my knee's on the ground all the time when rigging my camera and it is so nice to have pants that can stand that no matter what conditions. Skål 🍻 I have a new viking champagne we need to try 😇

      Haha, You know it! ☝️🤣🔥 only thing i would like is to have them waterpoof. Bjt there is bo doubt thst the Mongolia pants are comfortable. The grippy material is just wow 👌 that makes difference when riding. More than one might think. Cheers Tjommi, qe need to find a way to get some Viking Champagne over here to the year end. Lur govermenta does not seem to like that we share such good stuff with out making it sour for us 😂🍺.

    LOL! I agree with Thomas - you got the moves for the runway! I have the Atacama, same pants, just in the boot. I was in a major rainstorm this summer and didn't notice getting wet. Also, I like the fact that they are very light, and cut in a certain way that does not restrict movement. In fact, these are probably the best pants for an unrestricted movement that I have tried. They also breathe very well. 🍻

      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Haha, my experience is tve same. Never felt wet either in rain. But i could imagine that In Boots pants rise the risk for this. As you say these pants are really natural and follow your leg movements without resistance. As i said before i'm very happy with the sticky gripp material on the inside of the legs. Makes me stick comfortable to the bike. This feature is very noticeable.

      @@Braapncamp In the boot, or out of the boot - its a trade-off. I went through a water crossing this year and soaked my feet because the water came up and over the top of the boot, I didn't like that. But I do like that there is no material to get hung up on any bike parts if I need to get off in a hurry, which has happened a couple of times. Not sure what the best answer is.

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Definately, pros and cons. In the boot are sportier and also good in warm weather. But as you say not fun in wet weather or water crossings. It was a long time ago i had in the boot pants. Actually nor since the teens 😂 i'm an old guy now 🙌😁.

    Your reviews have been awsome over the years. I learned about Trangia and Amok from your videos (thank you) and just came across this one on the Klim website of all places.
    I'll be going with the new Dakar pant over the Adventure Spec as the Mongolia Non-CE is not available in my size. You did point me in the right direction on the Linesman jacket and the spendy Mongolia jacket., these are two nice jackets. Looks like you're sponsered by Mosko Moto now.

      Hi John thanks for the encuraging words. Interesting that You were linked via Klim. There are so many great reviewers out there som i have slowed down on that. Klim makes great gear and gave over the years put up a very complete range. I like all the different takes Klim, Mosko and AS f.ex. does with their gear. With Mosko and AS, I really like what they have led in the ADV to, layering, like we do on any other outdoor activities. I will do more review and comparisons this season since I have the possibilities. You are right, I'm "sponsored' by Mosko. We have worked together for 4 years with making events together, so this is more of a development from this. I really like the Mosko gear, the complete range is very thought thru and practical. With AS i had a short collaboration. I just love AS Supershirt, thats the gamechanging base in my layering set up, should be compared to Knox Urban or Leatt 6.5. All of them makes great gear, just pick the one with the frmeatures that appeal or are practical for You. Happy Trails! 🙏💪🤠🔥

    Nice video. I love my Klim Traverse Pants and Jacket, because its a lot rain here at the west coast of Norway. Best riding suit I have ever bought...light weight, very comfortable.

    Hi Mattias, love the videos.
    I'm looking for pants similar to these, but I don't know how will they perform in high temperatures (30+ degrees here in Croatia).
    I would appreciate if you could write how they perform in hot and cold climate (with focus on Dakar pants) or should I go with mesh pant, something like Klim Baja S4. Thanks, stay safe!

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks Ivan! I used the AS Mongolia pants on a trip this summer. It was 26-32°C and they were ok since thay are designed to the warmer type of climate. Large vents. The Dakar pants definately work similar and have larger vents. Mongolia feel meshier though. None of them are rain proof or have membranes wich makes them better in warm climate. I must say as i say in the video that the rubbery material on the inside at the Mongolia pants legs, makes them in their own class for gripping the bike effortless. Even at rainy and colder fays these pants works great with underwear/ merino long johns. 👌

      @@Braapncamp Thanks, that helps! One more thing, you said that Mongolia is XL and that both pants are pretty similar sizes... what is the size of your Dakar pants in US measurements? 36?

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, 36 is the size. I could go with 34 or 36 pending on pants size differing. The Mongolia have a belt included and are relaxed in the waist. Dakars have waist adjusters, with Velcro.

    Nice video and review Mattias 👍 👌, I like the AS pants very much, but went with the Klim Traverse as I often ride in the rain and it's just too much hassle to put trousers over trousers!!. I think AS are bringing out some fully waterproof trousers..I just hope they look as good as those! Ps...how is the temperature over there..you still riding..? Steve

      Thanks Stephen, i agree i dont like to have overpants and fiddling with that either. But i have managed this seasom very good with these pants. In this moment we have like 5°C i still ride, but it's a matter of weeks before it gets icy. Or it could also be as mild as it was last winter. Bike is ready at least. Happy trails!

    Thanks alot for doing these types of reviews! Question: do you feel the protections would stay in place during a fall down? It would be super nice to switch my klim badland setup for something lighter and more flexible- just worried that the armor would "move" during a crash. Does this make sense or do you think it would be same as the klim or revit jackets?

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому

      Thanks, regarding these two pants, the protections does not move and feel safe. In the Mongolia jacket the shoulder and arm/elbow protections fells safe and should stay in place, the back protection does not feel as good fixed though.

    hi great review how do you find the body armour on the Mongolia? I mean does it stay in place? I amp still not decided if to go with separate body armour and just get the single track.....

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  2 роки тому +1

      Hi and thanks Silvio! A separate body armor will definitely always feel better inlace and stick to the body. The Mongolia jacket Is very light and "airy" or very vented. This means that the Mongolia jakcket does not feel like a sturdy classic motorcycle jacket. Arm/elbow and shoulder protections sits nice in place, but the back protection is a tad loose and does not feel as protective as a "bug shell" style separate back protection. I will use both. The Mongolia as it is on shorter rides to work and such, maybe other rides as well. My separate protection when I feel that this is best for the ride. I miss the chest protection ion the Mongolia, which I have on the separate armor jacket. I have signed up for the AS Super Shirt, hope that one will be a great replacement of my older body armor.
