My wife just got me the Dakar pant for Valentine’s Day. I have the Carlsbad for ADV and colder dual sport rides. The Dakars I think will work well for spring and fall.
My Dakar OTB have knee pad pockets. FYI to anyone considering. They are my favourite on/off road riding pants. Even in high heat and humidity they're perfect.
I have the Mojave pants and absolutely love them. I purpose bought them for hot weather riding, they flow a lot of air and I tend to overheat at the slightest suggestion of warm temperatures. I have a pair of Alpinestar pants that I wear for the cooler days in the spring and fall but the Klim pants are noticeably better made.
I can see the Mojave being great for those hot days! If I lived in a hot climate I would have gone with those too. But since its rainy and cold in WA state the Dakar was a better choice for my purposes. I agree the Klim pants hold up better then other brands for the same price point.
Which of the two would shield me from the inside leg heat of the motor, tank, and exhaust better? I'm looking for very lightweight long-distance pants that I won't sweat too much in but offer protection from the heat on the inside of my upper and lower legs.
I did the Dakar and feel it would achieve the protection you are looking for while keeping cool. I ordered on Amazon prime so I could return if I didn’t feel they would do the job or needed a different size. Hope this helps!
Another thing I would add is the Mojave would be better for riding in the heat like the dunes for example and still offer decent protection. They have exposed netting for keeping cool but I didn’t like that I couldn’t close those areas up whereas the Dakar you can open vents and close them.
@@joelwallisadv I’m riding from Florida in late June which is pretty much the desert to Deadhorse Alaska and back down through Wyoming and Utah before heading back in the middle of July so that’s why I’m torn between the two.
@@RealRonTV dude that sounds like a bad ass trip!! Good on you for doing it 🤘🔥. Wish I could do a trip like that! I’d lean to the Dakar for sure. Safe ride my friend 🏍️🙌
@ I brought the Latitude pants but sold them as the short inseam was still too long. KLIM tends to over build the inseam. Mine was supposed to be 30” but in reality was 32”. I use the K induction pant with a waterproof over shell for rainy days.
thanks for your video, i got the 2022 Dakar pants and got d30 level2 protection, but there is no pocket inside pants, how to install d30 knee pads? is it even possible?
From my research the Dakars don't support knee pads and you would have to do an external solution. There is a Dakar riding pant that is similar that will integrate the knee pads but can't remember which one it was. Id call RevZilla and ask them. They are super knowledgable and will point you in the right direction for the Klim riding pant that has the knee pad integration. If I remember right they were not cheap tho :(
Both of these pants are really made for knee braces or pads. I use a set of Mobius X8 braces (which are huge) and they fit so you should be good with any make. If you want pads, the Leatt 3DF Hybrids have good protection and have held up well.
My waist is a 32 and I felt the 34 to be comfy in the waist but didn’t like how baggy the 34 felt in the legs. After a couple times using the my 32 they fit a lot better in the waist and glad I stuck with the 32’s. Hope this helps!
Good review! I’m wondering if you could do a follow up video on the Dakar and express your opinion. How’s it holding up and would you buy it again? I just order the Dakars.
Hey there! My Dakar riding pants are still doing great! It has been rainy and cold here in WA state but am hoping to get out a follow up vid on them when it gets nice again to ride :)
I've had my Dakar pants for about 8 years and they are still in awesome shape. Have the badlands pro a3 now and am looking for a quick summer pant. Thanks for the detailed review
Both pants allow you to insert the D30 armor inside the pants, but you can wear either secondary knee armor on the inside or out or have the D30 inserts which makes it a bit easier but sometimes they ride in the wrong place on people. As for the hip armor the inserts are the way to go instead of armored shorts which I personally think are uncomfortable especially for longer ride in which I usually wear a padded bicycle shirt for my ass. 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

Thank you! Happy to have helped 🙌
Are those wather proof ??
Both these pants have over the boot version that has armor pockets and regular pockets build in. I am looking at those.
did you get them? im wondering what its like to have built in armor. is it better? i never had a bike before. my bike comes in 3 days

@@ajojoseph6052 oh nice. what's the difference with Mojave though?
@@xKyriakoZ Mojave is more off-road biased and for hot weather. Latitude is road biased and Goretex waterproof

The reason the pockets go to the back is so you can open them on the bike and not dump stuff out
🤘that makes sense
you should not put key inside, it rly unsafe, it can pierce you
Good call 🙌 I have been putting my keys now in my tank bank 🤘
