@Psychonaut Lmao! Yeah sure. Like its so unbelievably easy to deal with severe clinical depression. And a daughter with a debilitating autoimmune condition. And a wife with cancer. And friends who fall into drug addiction. And those who fall into a hole so deep they kill themselves to get out. At least Peterson keeps taking the punches in life. He falls down but at least he gets back up. That's better than most people.
I hope you find peace in your life, in whatever turmoil surrounds your heart and compels you to criticise others from behind a computer screen. I mean that sincerely.

    • @Aaron-tv6fs

@Psychonaut if you listen to him with an open mind you would understand that we all have suffering, him included. I just want to point out that it's possible to have the answers without being able to implement them yourself. Most psychiatrist doctors have mental illness themselves. It's been scientifically proven that they sugger for others. That should not stop anyone from speaking their mind and personal perspective truth or obtaining a degree. Jordan Peterson has his view and people can relate and are living more meaningful lives.. why be negative about that? What does that accomplish? And at what point was this information not provided by Jordan peterson himself? Pretty sure he has nothing to hide with his honesty and your choice at pointing out facts that are clearly stated seem pointless and degrading towards your own character more than Jordan's. Just so you are aware.

This. This, and Jordan Peterson's words throughout this.
When I heard a classmate back in college slandering another classmate (whom I was friends with) over a petty argument that she started with her buddies, I felt like I could've done something in hindsight to prevent that. But I realized even now that even if I did confront that insecure excuse of a girl, it wouldn't have changed anything for someone who's intent on just hurting someone in such a low way just to make themselves feel better.

I recently used Peterson's future authoring system to set my goals and decided that one of them had to be constant self-improvement. I decided on one thing that I thought was essential, which was communication skills and narrowed that down to better listening skills. I watched vids and I read online articles on how to be a better listener, decided on my weakest listening skill and improving that and checked on my improvements daily. It is now about three weeks later and I have been having amazing conversations with many people, including people I had never met before. The progress over a very short time has been incredible.

What I find truly remarkable is that Peterson's encouragement isn't finger-wagging, I-know-better-than-you sort of encouragement that alot of activists spout. It feels genuine and true. I honestly feel like he's on my side, he's telling me that I can do it, that I can achieve my potential, and that it's important that I do. I just cannot figure out *why* it feels that way. The things he says, his words, on their own could easily be interpreted as judgemental... but it definitely doesn't feel that way. It feels like he wishes for me the best I could possibly be, not for himself, but for myself. I cannot figure out why it feels this way, but it does... and it's so unimaginably powerful.
Thank-you for making this video, and thanks to Dr. Peterson for his efforts in this life. Thank you to Bill Maher for having him on as a guest where his clarity of thought and honesty struck me and prompted me to find out more. And a very special thank-you to all the SJWs that made so much noise about him that he was elevated to the minds of many more people.

@Psychonaut He's human. His wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
He is always under public scrutiny and is losing his wife, and obviously that is likely to create anxiety, and it's likely compounded by the anxiety most humans on the planet have at the moment in a pandemic.
The usual and most immediately effective treatment for situational anxiety with expected short term use are the benzodiazipines.
      They work immediately.
But they can often become physically addictive in less than a month and when you try to stop the anxiety grows worse than it was and you can also have seizures, you can die if not well managed. They have to be tapered down incrementally.
They are often harder to withdraw from than heroin.
The clinic in Russia apparently uses a medically induced coma to allow you to rapidly withdraw physically.
His only mistake was using a psychiatric drug.
They are all quite deadly for some people antipsychotics to antidepressants, and all are difficult to withdraw from, with rebound symptoms often worse than the initial ones, which is why many people have to stay on them.
But they are the staple of mainstream medicine.
He's human and I'm sure he will eventually share what he learned from this experience once he's processed it. He's authentic and courageous like that, but he is human.

@@briepower8226 well, you say "don't change others" but, by saying that, you are changing others mind on this topic. Then you are doing (in practise) what you have suggested not doing (in theory). Therefore, you are suggesting to do what you are suggesting not to do.
Moreover, if you say "change yourself" you are telling to other people to follow your will, therefore they would change by the will of an other, not of themself. But you said "change yourself", not "let me change you". Again, you are telling to do (in theory) what you are not telling to do (in practise). That's why Laozi said "who knows don't speak, and who speaks don't know". In fact, words and actions sometimes are enemies.

This CD has three separate relaxation/meditation sessions on it ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq guided by a very pleasant and direct male voice. Unlike so many other products of its type, this CD does not have bad synthesizer music, does not feature a phony or affected style of narration, and does not make any bogus claims to be subliminal or to re-train the brain or any of that balderdash. What you get is 1. a guided meditation for getting into a pleasantly relaxed state of body awareness while taking a stroll (superb for those easing back into a fitness routine slowly after an illness or injury) 2. A nice long breath-awareness relaxation session that if followed diligently can put you into very deep states of full-body relaxation and mental calmness, and 3. a buddhist-inspired meditation session designed to help you develop and maintain feelings of loving kindness toward not just yourself and your friends, but toward people you don't even like. The CD makes no claims to be designed for advanced meditators or for buddhists or hindus/yoga practitioners looking for very deep and esoteric stuff. It is geared more toward the average person who just wants to develop the habit of relaxation and stress relief through natural, healthy means. him, if you happen to be reading this, keep up the good work fella, and I love your accent. I would also like to note that I have never fallen asleep while listening to this product. I would like to kindly suggest to the reviewer who said this CD makes him fall asleep, that he might want to get checked to see if he has a sleep disorder, or if he is simply not setting aside ample time for restful sleep at night. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.

@Psychonaut it sounds like you might have assumed I'm putting him on a pedestal. I was just pointing out one credential he has over some random self-help guru on Insta.
That being said, having personal issues doesn't make him unqualified, it makes him human. But it does ironically point to the precise flaw in his advocacy for SSRIs.
I definitely take his lectures and such with a huge grain of salt, probably agreeing with half of it at absolute most. I tune in because he does touch on some interesting points that few academics are currently. But it is funny how this is one of the key ideas on which I disagree, which is to use pharmaceuticals to push oneself forward.
      Was it worth it?
Maybe for him, because it seems he has indeed touched a number of lives in a good way.
      But relatively, he was lucky...
Unlike Chris Cornell and many others whose names we may never hear.
Anyway, in the end, I dig his perspective cuz it shows me another angle on things.

at 7:51, about making something, ANYTHING, "some tiny increment better"......It doesn't have to be much at all. Tiny increments.
A football field is 100 yards long. We need to gain 10 yards each series of attempts, yet the game is a game of inches.
Tiny increments is all it takes.

I had the same thought, but have often been disagreed with. I'm smart enough to realize I don't need people to be on my side to get anywhere. For broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many that go there at, but narrow is the way which leads to life and there are few that find it. I'm trying to have a life, not make a living.

Jordan Peterson has definitely taken the pink pill and spent a lifetime experiencing the reality, during his research into monstrous regimes, psychology, listening to patients traumas. It's almost too much to imagine. And yet he has survived it and it compels him to try and help others and make the world better. Not in some pink and fluffy way, but in a ''Do something about it, and stand the hell up'' kind of way. Brilliant and generous.

Never make your ideal = goal.
An ideal is something you improve upon, and a goal is something you achieve.
There’s nothing but pain when going after a goal you can’t achieve.
