@@TitaniummanGarage but did it really need a new stator, cdi and coil all thrown at it? Or did all those things actually go bad?

@@shawnbuckendahl1968 Who Knows. I see what your saying. I bought it that way. He probably was chasing an issue.

hey, I have a 2004 Polaris sportsman 500 HO I have spark compression is the 150 PSi I put a new fuel pump in it it’s in time perfect rebuilt the carburetor and cleaned it hooked the pulse line up to the left side I’m at the main gas line to the right side of the carburetor I put a new aftermarket, CDI box and it and the new coil the aftermarket Chinese CDI was junk. I put my old OEM cdi back in started right up. it never started consistently. Now I put my hand over the carburetor give it more choke, starts up every time for a second then dies What would you say it is? I’m thinking my old OEM cdi box is junk I need to get a new one. Or it’s my carburetor sometimes it backfires and I had a few carburetter fires I’m thinking the backfiring and not starting and staying running is I need a new OEM CDI any ideas.

I'm thinking cdi or you have a air leak. Usually backfire is its running lean. Or to much air getting in. I would check the intake boot for cracks or any place it could be sucking in air.

It’s not really fair to just say China made ones ar junk, just like American made parts there is a hierarchy of quality, hell if you buy them from Polaris you are likely going to get one that the board inside was made in China. I’ve found that there are some trustworthy Chinese parts, but people tend to buy the cheapest one listed and that is the problem. I don’t blame people for not wanting to pay Polaris price, they act like it’s made of gold. Last one I priced was $400. Even if it was made in San Francisco by tech geniuses the price is far, far too high for it. Db electrical has decent ones, niche ones have never let me down and rm stator sells what I believe are Chinese made cdi’s and I’ve heard they are pretty good.

Here is what I do. I buy used Polaris parts. OEM. and you know what? a 15 year old part will match anything on a new china part. Im just warning everyone. DB is good. Niche is shit. But if you wannna buy china crap. good luck with in long run.

I hear what your saying. Nobody wants to pay 400 bucks. I'm just saying theres better alternatives.

@@TitaniummanGarage I’ve had nothing but good luck with niche, their cylinders seem to be as good as factory, and as far as their carburetors, they seem to be the best of the Chinese ones, jetting is accurate, slide moves nicely. I use parts from a variety of vendors but I’ve learned which ones I can trust. But really depends on what the customer is willing to pay for.
