A reminder this is the man supposedly building Titanic 2, let that sink in
Having your own relatively average size yacht become grounded twice in 8 months hopefully doesn't inspire confidence for the Titanic II. Hope the captain of his yacht isn't chosen to be Captain of the Titanic II. ..
😂😂😂. I needed that comment.
Ha ha ha. Let that sink in.
I'm sure there is a "tip of the iceberg" joke in here somewhere...🤪
Getting that sinking feeling, are you?
Maybe Clive himself was on board and moving around, when the extra weight of Clive on one side caused the boat to ground on the sandbar🤣
You beat me to it!😂
Thanks for all of your excellent SuperYachts video and the hard work that goes into them.......
Old F-4 Phantom ll pilot Shoe🇺🇸
if that Cap wasn't fired from that first grounding, he's definitely been sacked now!
Probably someone's relative.
could of been the owner demanding to go somewhere where the boat cant go
That vessel has had more captains than I’ve had hot dinners… standard for Palmer
@@OhAwe Studied biology did we?
@@zorbakaput8537 Lmfao. I was meaning he's probably related to a friend of Palmer's.
Clive Palmer may have exceeded the Gross Tonnage of the yaght .
I see what you're trying to do there, but GT is a measurement of volume, not mass. Displacement covers the mass of the vessel, whilst Deadweight Tonnage covers the mass of the cargo.
@@csjrogerson2377 A Gross Tonne is eight barrels of rum. Why isn't it eight barrels of water? Because I want to drink rum not water.
@@csjrogerson2377 You clearly do not know what Clive aka "Fatty" looks like !!!!!! Look him up and you will understand what Adrian is saying lol
@@darthkek1953 Get back on your meds.
@@csjrogerson2377 Eight barrels of Milk of the Poppy it is.
The trouble is finding the tits on the poppy...
I really enjoy your informative shows eSysman. Excellent objective yacht news information. I now follow your every show waiting to see what's next in the yacht world. Thank you for your wonderful talent
I would imagine the yacht exceeded its draft specs once Clime Parmer got onboard causing it to hit the sandbank and run aground when it normally wouldn't without Clive 😂
So I went down to the dock again today, spoke to another owner moored in same docks, the story he told me is that there is a narrow channel and Clive's yacht moved to far to one side to allow a regatta of smaller sailing yachts to move past...Clive's super yacht is moored again at its usual spot.
The most factual comment here for anyone who knows the waterways there.
Shouldn’t they have passed port-to-port? I do understand that sailing vessels have right-of-way, but isn’t consistency the heart of safety?
Clive's story and he is sticking to it.
The whole Gold Coast Broadwater is very shallow with many constant shifting sandbanks. Really it's a nightmare in a 12 metre boat least of all a Superyacht
Clive Palmer's Titanic 2: Costa Concordia Boogaloo
His homosexual naval architect said in his big gay lisp "this project is unthinkable" Clive heard "unsinkable" hilarity ensured.
I'm from the Gold Coast and I know that channel well. It is quite tricky especially for a yacht that size at low tide. Ditto for the bar as you leave out to sea. However, any skipper worth their weight knows that channel. I would say something mechanical has happened. The Gold Coast City Council has been talking for years about building a super yacht/ cruise ship terminal at Wavebreak Island for precisely this reason. It will require constant dredging though.
As it turns out I am meeting with Clive Palmer and Tucker Carlson this weekend. I will ask him what happened.
Thanks so much for the chart/map mention mate! Loved it! Ha ha ha! Good onya. It was me who mentioned it. Great channel!
That channel at Gold Coast can be very sporty. I went through there on a 21 metre race yacht and there were big standing waves. It's well known for catching out sailors.
Sandbank > Sandback. Love your channel. Thanks again.
8.28 Loved the "tongue~in~cheek" eggsplanation as to why it's ok to use "map" in lieu of "Chart".
I shows that you izz hoomin like the rest of some of us. 😊
ok ok, perhaps I shood have used "instead" instead of "lieu".
switch GPS off and steer the bloody things 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Needed tugged off the beach ☺
Great update 2x👍
I'd love to see older vintage classic yachts, like Fedships and old Sailing yachts...when filming marinas.. please keep these beautiful yachts in mind...thanks
Aside from beaching his M/Y Australia he has admitted that litigation is another of his hobbies.
He is currently suing a gent named Shipman. Fact.
Had a boss of a client like that: LOVED to go to court, always LOST, but wanted a soapbox to pontificate. Dangerous, as my client was the face of the company, and contractors being stuck knew where my client worked/lived. |Of course, you couldn't FIND where this perp. lived.
I was stuck on the sand bank in the same Area on a 53ft sailing Vessel . got off on high tide on our own .
Nice video love a good map
We've got sailors here that don't know the difference between the wet stuff and the dry stuff. I thought that would be the opening sentence in the Sailing for dummies book.
LOL!!!!
The yacht is not responsible it’s the crew and captain- just sounds like the yacht grounded itself, which it can’t without a crew or severe weather.
Ohh bro im beached az
Grand Funk Railroad sang about this -
"I'm Your Captain
Though I''m feeling, mighty sick
I've been lost now, days uncounted, and my ship is now a wreck..."
WOW, that's why you never let the owner drive 😂😂😂
And this guy wants to build the Titanic II!
I can read the headlines now!
It happens
Hiring a navigator in addition to the Captain sounds like a no-brainer, it is just common sense to sail in and out of the harbour on a high tide!
First (Chief), Second and Third mate ranks are all Qualified "Navigators."
Many places around the world dont have high and low tides or if they do, they're negligible. Now what? Its the amount of water under the keel that's important. If you can sail in or out at any state of the tide, then you do so. It's a given that you stay away from the putty.
Surely Clive's skipper can hold station if required (eg to make way for a flotilla of sailing craft) but running aground in your home port must indicate something mechanical was very much amiss. Still don't know why the boat ran aground in Singapore.
See that yacht all the time in the Gold Coast. Love the yacht myself
killer shirt you have on!
The only yachts that don’t ground in The Broadwater are those that never leave the marina.
Bad luck Clive, it happens to all of us.
maps versus chart, same thing. What bugs me is calling an excavator a “digger”. Lol
Better than call it a backhoe!
Why would you call an excavator an Australian?
@@csjrogerson2377 Most operators I know actually call them diggers.
I biked passed this yacht yesterday on way to Main beach GC and wondered who owned it, now I know.
So I went down to the dock again today, spoke to another owner moored in same docks, the story he told me is that there is a narrow channel and Clive's yacht moved to far to one side to allow a regatta of smaller sailing yachts to move past...Clive's super yacht is moored again at its usual spot.
*past this yacht…
@@teeanahera8949 yes I topped the Class 76 Auckland Grammar in English....but couldn't spell for quids:):)
@@teeanahera8949 actually I just looked up the meaning for both words, passed and past...and I think I had the right word maybe....
You know the 65 million yacht. It changed my thinking with helium 3 and 4 in the water supply. Now the axis is off and GPS location mapping needs adjusting. Hence the grounding like whales.
The owner or whoever was bossing the crew around failed to consider that waterways are not flat roads. They crossed the area without incident the first time but the tide went out and the draft got shallower by the time they turned back and went over the same spot.
Technical issue😮
MY Australia Has to be something like computer system, depth finder, radar, but twice in 8 months. You'd figure the problem would have been found out and dealt with then during first grounding. Again, like you said we'll have to wait for official report to come out and confirm.
Now with you saying maps & not chart so us no sea/ boaters will understand is a bunch of BS lol. Especially when you are taking advice from ELON MUSK. Really good video by the way and looking forward to next one cheers
Smaller boats often the licensed/certified/crew can have other "issues", alcohol and drugs. Stress!!!?
Hope his BoatUS membership is current. Rescues are expensive😮
Maritime Safety Qld take a dim view of commercial vessels grounding in the Broadwater
Would a fast cat be charged double docking in Monaco?
the Australia captain probably forgot to lock his car.
Ive done that!
Employment available for a replacement Superyacht Captain. Must have Docking and Recovery experience ....😜
That’s an expensive day trip
If you have to worry. You shouldn't have a yacht.
Newbie Question!! - - some one in the know please explain to me- as it blows my mind at a yacht of this calibre or even the one in Valencia gets grounded/beached - there must be 1/2 dozen apps let alone Raymarine or B&G type equipment on board to to audibly alert the crew WELL before anything bad happens?
Maybe they should move the speaker from next to the compass 😂😂😂
👋
too fkn funny... love it!
You changed the opening??? I don’t know, sir. The original vessel was pretty cool. You should put it up for vote
I dont own a yacht, but after what is it over 60 ft. You must have a licensed pilot that is familiar to the waters. And may have to get one familiar to the area. You may have to pay more money but save repair costs. 😅
Suggest getting a better Captain. Cheers!
The 80th anniversary of D-Day was yesterday. All these grounding smell like masonic rituals.
Thanks for the excellent
information 👍
Oh my..?😮 Fire the skipper.
No doubt Clive, instructed the Skipper in his usual business like way
giving a new meaning to liquidation.
Are the yacht groundings caused by poor navigation or by tech not working?
Regarding Clive, any Australian will tell you: "It couldn't have happened to a more deserving person".
you watch too much ABC?…
Regarding where he / grounded is very shallow, any local boaties here know that, I’m not sure why it didn’t stay in the narrow but deep channel
@@user-yw1rp4rj4u Clive - is that you?
@@goatfiddler8384 definitely not.. but Clive’s reputation was severely damage by a corrupt liquidator..
@@user-yw1rp4rj4u Clive, Clive, Clive, you're just cranky because, as the "Ikea" ad says, you spent $60M on the Federal election and didn't even win a seat. Even the Legalise Cannabis party outdid you in Qld and they had bugger all money and a clapped out old ute.
Washington State a 110’ had its anchor lines intentionally cut and its beached ….. Bremerton general area. Owner suspects fowl play.
What is up Clive, out of money???
Probably airlifted because he might have thought he had a heart attack due to the stress of the grounding. Seriously docking an expensive boat that you own is very stressful.
I wonder if the ATSB will investigate the grounding….
Ever since Pirates of the Carribean 3 At World's End.
Grievance with terminology number two, he grounded on a *sandbank not a “sandback” as the title would have it. Nevertheless Clive’s grandiose plan for the Titanic recreation is similar to his intelligence, run aground due to shallowness.
In engineer speak, chart = gasket
A Map shows you where you can go. A Chart shows you where you cannot go.
They may have the rudder fitted back to front.
I see someone’s insurance rates going up! Strange that they didn’t just follow track previously used before with no incident.
He doesn't need insurance. The new Titanic II is unsinkable!
Did you piss someone off???
Someone should invent a computer display that has your GPS position overlaid a nautical chart with water depths
Ah she's a bit deep in the hull
And the depth sounder needs calibrating but alas the shifting sands will have her again as the adventures continue
You can call it a chart; I know the word.
He only pays the captain in nickel.
😂😂
He's a well known tightarse!
@@Blanchy10 Nickels.
@@user-zf3xb3qx8w
Yep. I true wanker.
This yacht is almost impossible to run aground. The auto pilot would stop it. My house is on the water on the Broadwater and looks at Wavebreak Island. Clive Palmers skipper has no idea what he is doing
Auto pilot is not fool proof. If the vessel had mechanical issues the AP would not work. Also in a channel like that they would most certainly be in manual steering mode.
Clive palmer new titanic😅
Can't rule out alcohol. If they don't have it in place yet, time to have a breathalyzer test for anyone who turns the key. No pass, no start! They have that for cars. Why not boats😊
Sandbank? what sandbank?
happens when Clive is on board....
I think maybe some of the problems here are zero to hero Captains from the classrooms with no experience seems to be happening more often.😳😳
Maybe a new skipper?
I'll tell you who is in trouble! Not Clive, but his captain.
Good backpedal
come on cap
The problem is Clive is so overweight. I'm surprised the boat doesn't sink when he gets on it. I've been told they use the crane to lift him on and off.
I live and have been sailing out of Singapore for 35 years and you have to try very hard to run aground on that reef in Singapore. It is sooooo well-marked. Good Lord. And he's done it again. Tosser.
Clive Titanic Palmer is practicing for the time when he sails Titanic II around Antarctica to dodge icebergs.
If cant get out off there, the skipper needs sacking, I know the waterways well. he has gone to a well know bank.
That is called Karma.
Seriously? This skipper grounded the yacht twice - time for new skipper Clive!
If it was the same Captain, I would think he will have to look for a new job. That and/or a new chief.
Who's driving this thing, Mr Magoo?
You think 🤔 it could be an autopilot gps. glitch due to Magnetic anomalies?
Love ❤️ the channel always look out for your updates 👍
Blessings from Shitsville Hartlepool Teeside Northeast England ♒️ 🏴 🇬🇧 🙏 🙌 ♥️
Autopilots use gps data, not magnetic compass calculations.
I think he needs a new Captain. 😊
Grounded by Googan.
Please refer to what Dave Gleeson from the Screaming Jets has to say about clive palmer
Two grounding in one year. Replace the Caption.
It was the Fosters stubbies that caused this! 😁
My logic tells me that on a chart, deep water would be dark blue and shallow would be light blue as it is in real life. That chart has the opposite. Weird.
You’d have very dark charts and would be difficult to see the other information like depth or hazards.
But more realistically just saving money on ink
And he wants to build the Titanic 2 lol
Time for a new captain! WTH?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Must have been giving Gina Reinhart a ride.
