dude, i have the album shirt, the symbols shirt, you can't go wrong. i started with this album way back when, probably 1990 or so, when i was in high school. gonna enjoy this with you. probably listened to this in my 87 Chevette. cruising the strip.
It's my second favorite album of all time. I listen to it all the time in the car. However, I start with When the Levee Breaks instead of Black Dog and end it with When the Levee Breaks, that song is the reason I'm a fan.
When I first heard LZ I was going through a divorce. I lived out in the woods in California, my neighbor down the road seemed nice and he played guitar and I fell in love with this album and him and the sound of the mandolin. I bought myself a mandolin to lure my neighbor over. We are still together after 48 years. Thanks to Led Zepplin.
This album side ends with the most popular song in Led Zeppelin history: Stairway to Heaven. Starts as folk/country. Goes lite jazz near the middle. Rock 🎸 until the end. RIP John Bonham, percussion, drums 🥁
1954 and Rock Around The Clock kicked off The 50s music that lasted into the 60s. 1964 began the Civil Rights era and folk rock talked about the Vietnam war and racism and injustices and white kids started smoking pot. 1967 was the summer of love, and hippies wore peace signs and everything was beautiful. Military psychology experiments at Stanford University had leaked out into the public and acid hit the streets as Timothy Leary told us to turn on, tune in, drop out. 1968 was a turning point. The war escalated, Nixon was elected President, youthful dreams seemed shattered by the establishment, and in 1969 a Rolling Stones concert at Altamont turned deadly. What was to become known as heavy metal began with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin. Welcome the 70s with an explosion of rock music that would branch into a multitude of genres. I was in high school and college in the 70s; this was our music. It still is. Young people like yourself discovering what now is known as classic rock, and hearing your delight and appreciation of it, almost brings me to tears. I was starting to question ideals lost, but you all have restored the hope. Many heartfelt thanks. Rock on.
I was hooked at 10 years old when my babysitter brought over Zeppelin I and I just about died! I loved everything they ever did and live they have no equal!!
I spun that on my stereo in my bedroom when I just turned 15, it was the first time I actually got up and danced by myself. I spent the next two weeks learning Black Dog on my guitar.
Greatest album and band of all time !!!,I bought this album first in 1972 when I was twelve @!!as soon as I could save money I bought Zeppelin 1 2 and 3 ,favorite band of all time, blew my mind ,heart and soul!!,from fever pitched heavyblues, acid rock to soft melodic acoustic guitar finger picking!!!but you know Plants voice is gonna come I. Hard and heavy with haunting high pitched vocals soaring to the limits of Earth and the Heavens!!!let's honor the greatest!!!Led Zeppelin!!!!!
When this album came out I had seen LZ twice, once in 70 and once in 71, both shows in Hampton VA. The 71 show was 2 months before the 4th album was released. LZ played a few of the songs on this album including "Stairway to Heaven" at that 2nd show. Saw LZ two more times, 73 (Dallas) and 77 (Landover MD).
Everyone has their own favorite, and honestly there are a lot of favorite Zep songs its hard to choose.... But The Battle of Evermore is hands down one of my favorites. Its so beautiful and powerful. It always lifts my spirits and fills me with energy. Truly a magical band!
Bought this album { we referred to it as the Runes album in England } when i was sweet 16 in 1971 and if you are from Anglo Saxon /Celtic heritage like myself Battle of Evermore stirs something in your soul !
Every song on this album gives me goosebumps, especially battle of evermore… people make fun of the lyrics and say that they were self-indulgent.. I think they were fucking awesome
This album came out in 1971. I was about seven years old…. One of my favorite albums and it has gone on to sell almost 40,000,000 albums.. and they broke up in 1980.. almost 45 years ago,, and it still sells about a half 1 million copies per year.. think about that for a second.. how many bands that broke up damn near 50 years ago in any of their albums sell that much every year???
Side 1, Led Zeppelin 4....greatest album side in rock history. FYI: Jimmy's symbol, called by many as "Zoso," is actually a symbol for the planet Saturn, created by Giancarlo Cardano, in the 1600's. Saturn was the planet associated with Jimmy's astrological sign of Capricorn.
Although the mandolin was usually played by JPJ on The Battle Of Evermore it was actually Jimmy on the mandolin!! The only song I know of that he played one! This was also the only time they had a guest singer...Sandy Denny.
Great reaction. I remember when I first heard this album, was back in 75. I was 12. A friends older brother was playing it when I came over. Became my favorite album of all time.
The first album I ever got as a 12-year-old in 1979 for Christmas that year still got the vinyl copy that I never play anymore and is under lock and key almost all of my Zeppelin collection is on vinyl.
Jimmy ur a GOD best guitar break ever. Thought was Gilmore but ur guitar speaks to MY SOUL. Thank you for always being with me .Love peace n RESPECT xxx
See the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin with the wilson sisters from Heart singing this song. I saw this live in 1971 for the first time and many other times after.
Thanks for the awesome Led Zep reactions! 🙌🏼🔥 … Lil J … - I don’t think it’s possible to pick a favorite song by this band. They were musical geniuses and to this day, it still amazes me that these top four came together as one band! I’ve listened to them since the mid ‘70’s and to date - I can’t make up my mind which song’s the best. I can’t even choose a favorite album.😄 Love watching your Led Zep journey. ✌🏼❤️
There isn't one of us out there who hasn't played the solo from Stairway on air guitar. This was always the last song at our dances in the late '70s and early '80s
This was the first Zeppelin album that i heard in about 1989 when i was 16 years old. I was hooked. I then went back and discovered each album from the first one onwards. I don't like saying i have a favourite but number 3 holds a special place for me.
The second Led Zeppelin is my favorite. Then Houses of the Holy....then...Physical Grafitti is my third favorite.... this album Led Zeppelin IV is my 4th favorite. Led Zeppelin I is my 5th favorite. 😊😊😊
Led Zeppelin IV is hands down my favorite, then Physical Graffiti, Houses of the Holy, ITTOD, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin I, Led Zeppelin III then Presence.
Thank you for the great reaction! Looking forward to Part II. The symbols - lots of stories about the symbols - but it was marketing genius by Jimmy Page. The record company, Atlantic, was not pleased but LZ held fast. 50+ years later - still all kinds of merch with the symbols being bought. LZ wrote, rehearsed and recorded part of this album at a country estate in England - Headley Grange. There was a black dog hanging around the house where they recorded - hence - the title. Lots of numbers from this album are on Led Zeppelin DVD II issued in 2003 - it has filmed performances from Madison Square Garden 1973 and Earls Court 1975. If you want to check out part or all of it - here's a link ua-cam.com/video/xhWolLo8i-4/v-deo.html Led Zeppelin received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. The surviving band members attended. One of the numbers performed was Stairway to Heaven - with the Wilson sisters from Heart and John Bonham's son Jason on drums - FANTASTIC gives me chills every time I watch it- Link if you're interested - ua-cam.com/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/v-deo.html
I just read about her. She would throw herself off bar stools and fall down stairs intentionally as a party trick. Plus she was a heavy drinker and drug user. She hit her head falling down stairs, went into a coma and died very young. Tragic. Her friends knew she was gonna fall intentionally one time too many
The symbol that looks like zoso was what we called the album... That's also Jimmy Page's symbol... The feather is Robert Plant... The others I don't know which is Bonham's or John Paul Jones's
UR right, lol! Mine COULD change, but it begins with PG and , I GUESS, lol, ends with ITTOD, tho I love carouselambra beyond words, haha! I think Houses is great, but also in the "lesser" category. But yes, they are ALL SO GOOD!
For me it's: 1. Led Zeppelin IV 2. Physical Graffiti 3. Houses of the Holy 4. ITTOD 5. Led Zeppelin II 6. Led Zeppelin I 7. Led Zeppelin III 8. Presence.
Stank Face? Check. Involuntary Grunts of Approval, Smiling, and Breaking out in Wonder-Filled Laughter? Check. Side One of Led Zeppelin IV? Fck Yeah! You have met the requirements of listening to great music and making a great reaction!
You still need to get back to YES. "Gates of Delirium " from the Relayer, album, released in 1974. It's FIRE!!! React to "Relayer. " This album is a Masterpiece !!! Really Dawg...you have got to react to this album. It is FIRE 🔥.
I don't know if you'll get an honest meaning. The members have explained it differently at different times. If you listen to the lyrics you'll hear a lot references to the Occult, Christianity, and choosing between them. I don't know about Robert, but Jimmy Page was big on the study of the Occult and actually owned a book store on it and bought the old home of Allister Crowley. I'm sure it came up in conversation.
He is just a curious sort of guy. He is not an occultist like people make him out to be. All those stories are rubbish. He is highly intellectual and just has unquenchable curiosity.

The power of Led Zeppelin.

RIP John Bonham, percussion, drums 🥁
Stuck in the middle of an unnamed album, “ Stairway to Heaven”. Most people vote it to be the number 1 rock song of all time. I do.
There's not a bad song on this album. Even my least favorite, Misty Mountain Hop, is better than most band's best songs and that's saying something.
Black Dog one of my all time favorites. Loved playing the drums to this song.
Greatest band in history! Please do all their albums...they each are unequalled!!
i just found you..glad i did..you are super chill and mellow vibe..I dig it..enjoy our Led Zep..welcome to the family..

the Battle of Evermore has Joan Baez on background Vocals---JPJ is playing mandolin on this one, I just love it!!!
You have to watch the live performance of Stairway to Heaven at Madison Square Garden. It will blow your mind away
The Song Remains The Same concert movie from 1973 that is the only way we got to see them sorta live
OH YEAH 😊 Get the Led. out🎉
Side 1, Led Zeppelin 4....greatest album side in rock history.

I like the 3rd album. Most bands would give their left balls to have an album like zep 3, which shows how good they are.

Yes,indeed kids, we all need a bath now: - p
Look up Kennedy Center Honors...Led Zeppelin a star studded EVENT
Thia album came out when I was 10 yrs old. I heard coming from my oldest brothers room. Loved it at 10 years old.
Born in '69 so I missed their heyday but was a Led nut in the 80's
I traded weed for a second hand copy of this on vinyl. Best deal ever
That’s awesome 🔥
Hell yeah bro!!! Wait until you listen to the album Physical Graffiti
I did not know that Sandy Denny is on the album.
I just read about her. She would throw herself off bar stools and fall down stairs intentionally as a party trick. Plus she was a heavy drinker and drug user. Actually I was too stoned to read! Lol! You are a very good reader!
For me it’s 1,2, physical graffiti, 4, presence, 3, houses of the holy, in through the out door.
I’m sure everyone’s list is different
But I don’t look at it that way, I put the entire catalog on shuffle and jam lol
Presence is so underrated

5. Led Zeppelin II
6. Led Zeppelin I

8. Presence.

Hard to convey to today's generation exactly what Stairway to Heaven meant to us.
Can't remember what it's called,,, but the top is 12 string and the bottom is 6 string

Old man on album cover is Jimmy Page older. His imagination, off course. As himself imagine that will be.
