Just saw Adam Ant last night in Phoenix, Arizona with the English Beat opening. He still had 2 drummers and put on a great show. What a wall of sound...he can still Stand and Deliver !
Lucky! The last (and only) time I saw him was in 1983 in Detroit. It was my first concert. The drums were amazing. The English Beat have long been another fave!

December 13, 1982 Paramount Theatre, Seattle, WA, I was 25 and stone in love with this music. A record store had the video of “Antmusic” and they play it for people who asked. We were in there Every. Man! Adam Ant had the same level of the greatest musicians and singers of the music history. Like Elvis, Jim Morrison, Michel Jackson. He is A genius! Nobody broke the musical standard in the industry and innovated as much as this man, it's almost unbelievable how he didn't get stuck in the underground scene and became one of the biggest pop culture idols in the late 70's and become a big star from the 80's in Europe and the United States . It would be asking too much for the general public to understand what Adam Ant's music is. I am happy to announce that I have discovered this musician, and I am happy that he still has a loyal following today. I'm 33 years old.
Adam definately the same 'uniqueness' that Elvis also had, I'm a big Elvis fan. I liked Adam and the Ants when I was growing up, showing my age now, not listened them for a while but their music still sounds fresh and brings back so many memories. Adam was definately a great performer and great looking too.

Yes, you describe it well. My major first crush that's for sure. As a middle aged lady I queued in Waterstones for his signed biography when it came out. Great fun with people dressed up and I felt oddly emotional when I met him ! Started babbling about what they'd meant to me. Oh dear. He drew a heart in my copy of the book. Swoon😂
When you say "noble savage," are you referring to his heritage? I wonder, because I'd read somewhere that he was actually only honoring"native" people (not sure what they'd be called in Europe, if they are even a part of European history.) I had read that he sought permission to emulate their war paint, and they happily approved...as they also did with every single American mascot request ever made.
@@shanesloan4093 Adam Ant said he was harkening back to his gypsy heritage. He had a grandparent who had gypsy blood and was persecuted. My little toddler absolutely loved Adam Ant! She could imitate the Prince Charming strut perfectly! I think she was two and half ! Have to say I thought he was great too… well he still is. Bravo Adam.
My parents have had me listening to this since I was a baby! Adam and the Ants were just in my hometown last night and did a concert. I so wish I could've gone. My parents went and said it was spectacular! My mom said Adam is still hot! ;)
Still get goosebumps today when I play this Why doesn't Adam Ant get the recognition he deserves? Musical genius. Why doesn't Adam Ant get the recognition he deserves? Musical genius.
Ive been revisiting the brilliance of Adam Ant recently. I was a teenager when he first came on the scene, and i knew he was different back then and even appreciated his style back then. Im still in awe of watching and listening to him
As Soon As Adam And The Ants Came On The Scene ... I Quickly Dropped My Loyalty To The New Romantic Bands Which Were Extremely Popular At The Time ... This Group Was A Breath Of Fresh Air And Totally Unique ... The Music ... The Image .. The Make Up ... I Was At 6th Form And Would Walk Into School With Pieces Of Fabric Woven Into My Hair And Black Slim Lines Painted With My Eyeliner Across My Cheekbones!!! To This Day I Am Still Fondly Remembered For Looking Like A ‘Frontier’ lol
Those days nobody I knew listened to Adam & the Ants - only 10 year old me. It was (and still is) so special to me. I only understood many years later that this was Post Punk.
This guy started my love of music. From him I explored my parents records.Plus I now always have a thing about a good track with serious drums and/or the bass guitar. Never fallen out of love of any of them. Adam lives always in my heart as the person who kindled my music addition.
When I was a kid (about 15yo), THIS was the one that confirmed for me how special this chap is. I say 'is' cos last night I drove my 15 yo daughter 150+ miles (and back again) to Chalk Farm Roundhouse, London to see a 63-year old AA smash his way through a hits-laden set for nearly 2 whole hours. He did this one about 2/3- 3/4 way through the set ... and it brought the f***ing house down !!! Biggest applause for single performance of the whole night My daughter loved every minute - and going was her idea : great performance throughout. AND AA is a brilliant advertisement for the benefits of 'clean-living'. Awesome.
Adam and the Ants were my first teen idols, and I inherited the audacity to NEVER be afraid of what other people think of me when I sing or play my guitar in front of a public, from them. If you love the camera, then do it! Thanks a lot, Adam!
@@garybradley1 and update: since I have new guitar amp and pedal gear, I can finally play the sound too. Man, although it's 39 years ago, I can still indulge in a boyish pleasure to imitate my fav band from then.

Adam was the best with The Ants...outstanding song and video. Not to mention the fact that Adam is just one example of why men should wear makeup..lol.
It’s both and he’s brilliant. No one can pull off lipgloss like him in Stand and Deliver... Now if “androgyny” looked more like that I’d be down... he is still just the best looking guy and funny and smart... and he’s taken good care of himself. I’m glad he had a good friend in Marco all those years. He is a gorgeous man with a good heart!
Adam aka Stuart Godard was too good looking to be recorgnised for the musical genius of which he was a part - him and Marco. He was devastatingly gorgeous.

She would have loved his concert in November 2019 I went too I had tears when the drumming to this started this is my all time favourite song of anything I've ever heard had goosebumps
I bought four albums: Kings, Queen the Game, Styx Paradise Theater and Hello It’s Devo... all still good, but I have to admit Styx was for the art and effect on side 2... Still loving LPs!! And a a bigger picture of Adam!!
Literally every time I hear this song I can’t help but move to it !! So addictive Adam you are a true legend !!! 💜🐜🇬🇧💙☠️🥰🔥💯 music just isn’t like this anymore sadly
DAD HERE I lived in the '70s and early '80 and I can confirm the life certainly wasn't 'rad' and although the music reflected it, the mainstream didn't

My little toddler absolutely loved Adam Ant! She could imitate the Prince Charming strut perfectly! I think she was two and half ! Have to say I thought he was great too… well he still is. Bravo Adam.
A lot of musicians claim to be influenced by everything but Adam's music sounds like he likes everything. And somehow fits it together perfectly
My parents have had me listening to this since I was a baby! Adam and the Ants were just in my hometown last night and did a concert. I so wish I could've gone. My parents went and said it was spectacular! My mom said Adam is still hot! ;)
Pure heaven to listen too, the man is still a living legend in my opinion.
Still get goosebumps today when I play this
Why doesn't Adam Ant get the recognition he deserves? Musical genius.

Too handsome maybe ? And Hate by the music press. The press darlings...
Takes me back to primary school in Liverpool in early 80s. First album I ever bought and still love today❤
Must be one of the best drum beats of any pop song, it drives the song gives it so much energy , still tap it out often today!
This track is so innovative and interesting. Seems incredible that this was once considered disposable 'pop' music.
Never heard disposable pop. Like. Jah herb Jah love Jah Jerry Jah rastafari Jah everything you Jah ants Tucson Arizona Sonoran desert 🐝🐜🐞🌼🌵🏵🌻🌹🌵🌿🌵🌵🌵
Those days nobody I knew listened to Adam & the Ants - only 10 year old me. It was (and still is) so special to me. I only understood many years later that this was Post Punk.
My favorite Adam and Ants album
Best Vinyl I Ever Bought! Of course, it twas my first Record!!!!
This guy started my love of music. From him I explored my parents records.Plus I now always have a thing about a good track with serious drums and/or the bass guitar. Never fallen out of love of any of them. Adam lives always in my heart as the person who kindled my music addition.
Still get goosebumps today when I play this
Goosebumps on the goosebumps at 1:54
When I was a kid (about 15yo), THIS was the one that confirmed for me how special this chap is.
"Ridicule is nothing to be scared of".
@@garybradley1 Yup!
@@garybradley1 and update: since I have new guitar amp and pedal gear, I can finally play the sound too. Man, although it's 39 years ago, I can still indulge in a boyish pleasure to imitate my fav band from then.
@@arno-luyendijk4798 That's great to hear. I would love to be able to relive my youth. I think I'm 20.......then I look in the mirror!!
@@garybradley1 don't mind the mirror, whatever confronting it may look. It is the mind that tells you how old you feel. Be open for new things. Wrinkles are just lines of experience that nobody can ever take from you.
Adam was the best with The Ants...outstanding song and video. Not to mention the fact that Adam is just one example of why men should wear makeup..lol.
It's facepaint not make-up
@@homelesshannah50 he has an Apache war stripe...but he's also wearing eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara. And Lisa's right!
It’s warpaint
It’s both and he’s brilliant. No one can pull off lipgloss like him in Stand and Deliver... Now if “androgyny” looked more like that I’d be down... he is still just the best looking guy and funny and smart... and he’s taken good care of himself. I’m glad he had a good friend in Marco all those years. He is a gorgeous man with a good heart!
I do wear make up and I'm straight nothing wrong with it
The two sets of drums was awesome
original, innovative, bold - the 80's was the best decade - Adam Ant was one the icons of that era
The Addicts and Adam and the Ants give me such similar vibes. Love them both.
Adam aka Stuart Godard was too good looking to be recorgnised for the musical genius of which he was a part - him and Marco. He was devastatingly gorgeous.
He is super handsome
it just never gets old...so love them drums
I always dreamed of marrying Adam Ant. I'm 53 now and it never happened. He was the ultimate teenage girl fantasy.
Never Say Die!
totally unique sound . adam and marco were geniuses.
This was the 1st album I heard, that wasn't my parents, my big cousin was constantly playing it every time I was in his house, Im a 72 child, This album, the songs and the double drums will always stay with me
Those drums give me life! What a decade. Look at it in all its glory.
Music geniuses. My older sister was a huge fan back in the day that's how I've come to appreciate this band.
Adam Ant is an "icon" who one day will be reconized as such! I bought your albums!!!
Sir Adam this is by far one of the greatest songs made in the eighty's, thank you for being such an artistic genius
Those drums have been with me all my life
GREATEST DANCE-TRACK EVER MADE
Once an Ant girl always one been big fan for 40 years I'm currently dancing to this in garden. ADAM is unique one of a kind musically I got my mum into him she still played his greatest hits to day she died aged 77. She would have loved his concert in November 2019 I went too I had tears when the drumming to this started this is my all time favourite song of anything I've ever heard had goosebumps
first album i ever bought...and i still listen to it. awesome. thank you aata.
Me too! I loved Jolly Roger!
First album for me too! Think my family still have pics of me with the white stripe painted across my face!
Me too, the anthem of my teenage years
Second album ever. First was Eddy Grant “Romancing the Stone”
I bought four albums: Kings, Queen the Game, Styx Paradise Theater and Hello It’s Devo... all still good, but I have to admit Styx was for the art and effect on side 2... Still loving LPs!! And a a bigger picture of Adam!!
I love Adam and the ants. They music is beautiful to listen to
An icon of the early 80s.... great times and happy memories!
The double drums and that killer bass riff...........what a sound !!
Literally every time I hear this song I can’t help but move to it !! So addictive Adam you are a true legend !!! 💜🐜🇬🇧💙☠️🥰🔥💯 music just isn’t like this anymore sadly
What a cool song--such tribal drumming too! Love it! Eighties music was/is so rad.
That is a great name what country are you from
DAD HERE I lived in the '70s and early '80 and I can confirm the life certainly wasn't 'rad' and although the music reflected it, the mainstream didn't
Vitreous Lamella I'm an old man myself (42), and I absolutely love Adam & the Ants. That percussion section he had is nothing short of hypnotic. Go Eighties...
Vitreous Lamella Adam and the Ants were from the tail end of the 70s...their biggest hits came in 80 and 81 but, in truth, they did not really reflect the 80s at all
hugodrax71 I agree. They were kind of stand alone back then.
Dayum!! them drums still get me....after all these years.
He was so different, lots of his own style, I loved him
Was 17 when I bought his first album ... Now 55 . And still Love his music!
.
Got the album in 1980, I was 24.......I'm now 64, and still have it. After Sgt Pepper's, it's the best album I ever bought.
