I'm with your dad. Great move on the manual transmission. It is what I grew up with and it brings back some great memories.
My first couple truck were 5 speed manuals. I even plowed snow with a few 5 speed trucks. I can't say I am fond of shifting anymore. This trans and clutch seem to work a lot better than those old chevy 5 speed trucks. I never had the power this car has either.
@@mossman381 You also have to remember this car will not be an every day driver.
It will be nice to see the paint going on.
Can't wait to see this car all done, gonna be a sweet ride..
It's going to look awesome once painted. I am hoping a couple weeks away.
Wonderful work
DYNO JET Clutch kits was the ad right before your video. 😁
I'm so glad you have a decent size air cleaner on there,so many people put those little stupid air cleaners on there. I don't know how they breathe.
I like the look of the bigger air cleaners. That is the tallest one we can fit under the hood. I really like those factory dual snorkel air cleaners but they are pretty expensive. Might get one some day.
Nice! I hate when these so-called "bolt-on" kits have to be modified to work properly. Good job making it work!
Yeah, I don't really understand that clutch master cylinder bracket. I think they could have moved it over a tiny bit. Other than that I am pretty happy with it. Pretty much nothing on this car has just bolted on. But that is how hot rodding goes. You have to make parts work with each other.
Hello, I might have missed it but Tilton HRB's require a clutch pedal stop. Did you install one? From Tilton - SETTING THE CLUTCH PEDAL STOP. You MUST use a pedal stop to limit the amount of bearing travel. Failure to do this WILL result in clutch, bearing and/or transmission damage!
That is why you buy a kit from a company that has figured everything out. The pedal stop is the floor of the car.
@@mossman381 Say thanks for telling me the floor is the pedal stop that helps clear things up.
Awesome.
We are so glad to have the car running and driving again.
I am trying to do the same thing, but marrying a 455 Oldsmobile motor to a TKX tremec and converting from automatic to manual .
Did you go with the 1350 slip yoke?
I don't have the paperwork for the driveshaft with me. I thought it was just a factory slip yoke for the front. The aluminum driveshaft is good to 650hp is what they said. Car has a factory 12 bolt rear end.
31 spline forged yoke, 1330 U-joints
@@mossman381 Thank you.
Looks like china quality
Not sure what exactly you are referring to but the only thing I wasn't happy with was the master cylinder bracket. I think the master cylinder was fine but had to open up the holes because of the holes in the bracket. I have been there when holes don't line up and then you end up cross threading. Also think they could have moved it over a little bit.
@@mossman381 That bell housing cover looks cheap quality.. like you said " And the hole dont line up, sounds china to me
@@mossman381 Ahh I see, I might have misunderstood.. Either way, Mostly everything in America is made in China..
Honestly if there wasn't some cheap china parts thrown out there here and there we wouldn't be able to do half of what we do. It would be way more expensive. Right now amercans don't seem to even want to work. Companies need workers and it's causing all kinds of delays.
@@mossman381 Yeah, Thanks to democratic policies.. And if we made our own products we wouldn't need china.. We dont even make our medical supply's.. ANY of them..
