I totally agree with you. Everyone in that band that night was playing at another level. They are perfect. Thank you. I listen to it many times a day too.
Terry Williams on the Drums was the star for me, he was out of this world, perfect fills. Well, they all were world class! This was back in 1983, I was 18 and I was at Hammersmith when this was filmed! It was amazing, I thought it was normal, its not, still one of the best gigs ever. Now react to Telegraph Road, from the same gig, it was the encore
The studio version of this is one of the best songs for cruising. It's nice that you enjoyed it so much. What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having. Making a living like that wouldn't suck. Shout out to the production crew. The filmography of this LIVE concert is incredible.🤩
I love the way you express your impression. "Gladden your heart" is a very good description of it. Goes straight to the feels, especially that slow riff during the break. Unmistakable Dire Straits.
Mark Knopfler (red coat) is quite likely the best guitarist ever. He doesn't use a pick. He uses the tips of his fingers to pluck the strings creating his incredible sound on lead. Then there is the fact he's left handed and learned to play right handed so he didn't look different from other guitar players. This is very close to being the best live performance ever.
Neil, you just can't throw away J.Beck, Clapton, S. R. Vaughan, Albert King, BBKing, and a couple more, that at the moment doesn't come to mind. Mark is good, super good, but the best .. you know, we have days that those gifted players make us establish who's the best. Tomorrow is another one
I definitely don't discredit anyone's abilities or talent. I love Jeff Beck, Beck, Clapton, Nokki Edwards and so many others I grewuplisteningto. I'mjust sayingthis manisdefinitelyin the top 10. Definite props to so many others. The Edge from U2 is definitelyone of my favorites, as he plays lead like an Irishharp.@user-pr7od3rf2f
Nice reaction, Mark Knopfler on lead one of the greatest musical minds of our generation. Others from same concert all excellent or some album singles: Tunnel of Love, Romeo and Juliet or Skateaway from the Making Movies album would be good ones to start with initially.
Love your reaction. I think you'll really like the song Calling Elvis from DIRE STRAITS Live "On The Night" 1992. There are a few little surprises at the end that not many bands do anymore. Love yuour channel. Cheers all the best from Australia. 👍🎸🎸🎸
Eddie Van Halen was once asked what's it like to be the best guitarist ever...his answer I don't know ask Alex Lifeson. Versions of that story abound... 🙂
Three fingers and thumb. He keeps his ring finger up on the top E string with his index on the lower E. Thumb and middle pick up the mids. Index picks up bottom and ring picks up top. One of few guitarists that can run multiple 16th note riffs consecutively.

Yeah especially for 1978. The video is impressive, the skill of this band is absolutely amazing, this is a total masterpiece!
@@BradLeroy 1978 has nothing to do with it aside from being the best music era ever.😁
@@williamjones6031 video quality wasn’t the best in 1978 compared to what it is now. This was a great video and flawless performance!
@@BradLeroy This wasn't filmed in 1978. The song is from 1978.
@@williamjones6031 what year was it filmed?
This Drummer , this drumming ... what ever .. oh my lord .... he tell it all
Phenomenal reaction, it was great to see you feeling the music as opposed to just hearing it!
I was in that crowd, what a night……breathtaking!
Agree. Masterpiece!

@mrorange1982As indicated at the end of your comment, personal preference plays a role. He's one of the greatest guitarists imo.
I like you Vic, you're so infectious

and Terry Williams killed it on the kit! His dad was in the audience that night and Mark told him to go off...and he did!
Nice to meet you!
Great reaction, thank you so much!
Next: Telegraph road, Alchemy live.
You are going to love it!

REACT TO THE SAME BAND , SAME CONCERT, TO " TELEGRAPH ROAD "
Héllo de France Bonjour regarder le live Télégraph Road de 1985 super 😊😊
Mark used 3 finger style pickin like Chet Adkins . They have a great video on UA-cam
Chet Atkins called Mark Knopfler a CGP or certified guitar player. One of only 6 or 7 people he ever said that about.
