I feel kind of bad for Black Manta and Kaldur. I'm sure Kaldur really did love his father, and was pained for the position he was placed in to have to defeat him, because his father was a bad person.
Love how suddenly OP Aqualad got once he became a villain, he was never as powerful as a hero. Yes I know he was a double agent but almost no one knew that so most people were not throwing their punches when fighting him. Also have to say how lame it is how Superboy has basically become Superjobber, want to make someone look tough, have them slap Superboy around.
I don't think that's completely true. I wouldn't say it was sudden but there was several years for everyone to get to know each other and such. I mean Robin in Teen Titans took down all of his team as Red X so it isn't unreasonable that someone as cool as Aqualad was able to study his team and know their weaknesses.
Everyone's missing the fact that Aqualad actually has super strength amongst other things, he's not 100% human, and he also has tatical smarts, so a "super" emotional idiot really isn't enough to defeat him, so a half Atlantian vs. a half Kryptonian is a fair fight...
There has never been as good storyline as young justice in both marvel and dc animated series.. i believe if dc keeps working on this series, it can take dc to a different level.
It was like I knew Kaldur didn’t actually become evil but also didn’t know how good the ruse was, i was relieved when it was revealed he was just a spy.
Watching this Just reminds me how bad I really wanted him to be a traitor. With how well he knows the League and the Team, on top of his wise calm demeanour and discipline, he would have been potentially more dangerous than the Joker and The Light put together....
Stuff like this reminds me how lucky the heroes are that someone of the sidekicks are heroes. Miss Martian, Nightwing and Aqualad would make such formidable foes.
You should’ve included the scene between Nightwing and Wally questioning Kalduron’s motive. It adds a lot more depth to Kaldur’s final fight with his father.
I love it when there's secret "betrayal" character arcs and i loved this but my only complaint was about the plot putting Artemis and her magic charm disguise RIGHT NEXT TO THE WIZARD WHO CAN SEE THROUGH THE WHOLE TRICK
Even though he became the new Aquaman in season 3, I'll bet he's still thinking about his undercover mission and if he and Black Manta will clash again over it.
I just want to appreciate, clucky exposition aside, how capable Kaldur is. Like he said, Dick is a born leader meant to lead, but that in no way downplays how capable Kaldur is as well. Despite it being a ploy, this man was capable enough to become a member of the light. Not just someone who works under the light as an enforcer or typical grunt, a MEMBER alongside Manta. Then he goes on to lead the Justice League (alongside Wonder Woman, sure, but hey). If he was to actually go rogue, he would’ve been a major threat.
When I saw this video I looked back at the episode where she did “die”. You can actually see Nightwing slip his hand over the blood pack in her costume
It must be seriously annoying to be Superman. He can literally move faster than sight and may only leave a blur and can probably punch a planet into bits yet a insignificant little minions think they stand a damn chance against him.
Black Manta: IGNORANT BOY! This is not a world, a UNIVERSE in which a free man can afford to be soft! I will teach you to be ruthless, Kaldur'ahm. Even if I must beat that lesson into your SKULL!
Man, I did not like La’gaan. He was basically just the replacement boyfriend character until M’gann got Conner back on her radar. He got absolutely no screen time in season three because of this. Even while watching season two, I was like “oh, he’s a goner.” Edit: Here from early 2023. La’gaan was in Phantoms last year, and he actually got a shit ton of development from how he was here. Actually, he was one of the most satisfying things about the season, especially considering how it ended.
I've been pretty torn on that. True, the first season had more of a sense of simplicity that I liked, where s2 was convoluted. And of course there's the time skip. But the character development that s2 brought was great and , though it was convoluted, the story was still really, really good and literally have me a lot of edge-of-my seat moments and great twists.
Also, even if it sometimes felt pretty crowded, the roster expansion made a lot of sense, considering there are plenty of teenage heroes coming out in their world especially with there being plenty in the DC universe that so many people wanna see. And let's be real, if we wanna see em, this is the show for them to go.
It made a lot of sense for him to be evil, so honestly, it’s amazing that he didn’t turn bad, his best friend gained the love of the girl of his dreams, Aquaman lied to him about the fact his father was Black Manta, and during one of their missions Tula died(the events of which are shown during a tie-in video game)

Kaldur is better trained, if he ate a full punch from superboy who wasn’t holding back,he would prob be in the hospital if not dead
SoulReaperSlayer19 he’s taken full force hits from superboy before, episode 1 remember? But I guess he was supposed to capture them and not kill so ig that might not count
Aqualad has moments of 'i'm as bad as batman' in some his line delivery
True all true. (lex voice)
Not gonna lie, my heart broke when Black Manta called Kaldur 'boy'.
B O I
Black Manta
Good father
Bad person
I mean Robin in Teen Titans took down all of his team as Red X so it isn't unreasonable that someone as cool as Aqualad was able to study his team and know their weaknesses.
it's practically a dc trope, anytime a character turns evil they become exponentially stronger than what they were capable of when they were good.
Not exactly. Don't forget he is wearing a copy of Black Manta's suit. The same suit that allows Manta (a human) to go toe to toe with Aquaman.
Everyone's missing the fact that Aqualad actually has super strength amongst other things, he's not 100% human, and he also has tatical smarts, so a "super" emotional idiot really isn't enough to defeat him, so a half Atlantian vs. a half Kryptonian is a fair fight...
@@moonie1825 evil is fierce
There has never been as good storyline as young justice in both marvel and dc animated series.. i believe if dc keeps working on this series, it can take dc to a different level.
It was like I knew Kaldur didn’t actually become evil but also didn’t know how good the ruse was, i was relieved when it was revealed he was just a spy.
Hell of a performance
0:57 Fun Facts: Aqualad wanted to make sure that nightwing and him we’re alone so they can talk about black manta plans
This part always gives me goosebumps 2:00
Watching this Just reminds me how bad I really wanted him to be a traitor. With how well he knows the League and the Team, on top of his wise calm demeanour and discipline, he would have been potentially more dangerous than the Joker and The Light put together....
Him or Nightwing would have been pretty dangerous
Julian Thuesdee Exactly.
@@chichivandoll yeah they missed a golden opportunity there. Just imagine how more intense the story would've been
MAAD TEE I can’t imagine an evil Nightwing tho lol but yeah
Stuff like this reminds me how lucky the heroes are that someone of the sidekicks are heroes. Miss Martian, Nightwing and Aqualad would make such formidable foes.
I loved their father and son relationship.
manta's design is just plain amazing
You should’ve included the scene between Nightwing and Wally questioning Kalduron’s motive. It adds a lot more depth to Kaldur’s final fight with his father.
He was lucky Superman didn’t come after him after he launched that bullet. 😂
That was a missile actually....
Eugene Mutiibwa Big picture...
Bullet missile same thing really
@@shittyname2657 A bullet=Missile No
It was the Ex-wife. Superman barely survived! He got his bunker busted!
Black Manta's role and design are pretty awesome. Better than the bug-eyed thing we usually see him as.
For some reason i really want to hear aqualad shout BOOYAH!!! XD.
He really fooled the light bad 😂😂
I just want to appreciate, clucky exposition aside, how capable Kaldur is. Like he said, Dick is a born leader meant to lead, but that in no way downplays how capable Kaldur is as well. Despite it being a ploy, this man was capable enough to become a member of the light. Not just someone who works under the light as an enforcer or typical grunt, a MEMBER alongside Manta. Then he goes on to lead the Justice League (alongside Wonder Woman, sure, but hey). If he was to actually go rogue, he would’ve been a major threat.
Black Beetle's voice was always chilling this season but the delivery at 6:31 absolutely nailed it. Kevin Grevioux was brilliant
When I saw this video I looked back at the episode where she did “die”. You can actually see Nightwing slip his hand over the blood pack in her costume
Such an amazing performance there were so many oh shit moments
_Man was so deep undercover that Ms Martian, a freaking mind reader couldn't figure out the truth until way, way, waaaaaaaay later...._
Can we just say, Aldis Hodge, did an awesome job
Man, Black Manta is an awesome dad
It must be seriously annoying to be Superman. He can literally move faster than sight and may only leave a blur and can probably punch a planet into bits yet a insignificant little minions think they stand a damn chance against him.
2:00 that's literally the best scene in the episode
I in love with Kalduram he's my Hero and the fight with Manta is Soo much Epic😍😃🤘
Aqualad was the best thing about this series, almost made me a DC fan. Best leader in the verse.
WHYYYY IS HE SO DAMN COOL!!??!
Black Manta: IGNORANT BOY! This is not a world, a UNIVERSE in which a free man can afford to be soft! I will teach you to be ruthless, Kaldur'ahm. Even if I must beat that lesson into your SKULL!
lol “Neptune’s Beard” 😂
7:25 That move is a echo of 1x01, when he defeated Killer Frost.
Man, I did not like La’gaan. He was basically just the replacement boyfriend character until M’gann got Conner back on her radar. He got absolutely no screen time in season three because of this. Even while watching season two, I was like “oh, he’s a goner.”
Edit: Here from early 2023. La’gaan was in Phantoms last year, and he actually got a shit ton of development from how he was here. Actually, he was one of the most satisfying things about the season, especially considering how it ended.
7:07 nice line
7:06
7:07
7:18 Your Skull!!!! Lol
I love 1:19 now knowing that it was a genuine warning from a friend
Dang it why did they have to show Mantas love for his son
Exactly I kinda felt bad seeing the shock on black mantas face
Just realized Yuri Lowenthal is talking to himself there as the twin and icicle lol
And Khary Payton talking to himself as Aqualad and Black Manta
Daaaaammmnnn! Aqualad is good looking.
Fish dude is so annoying I hated him from day one
I know Lagoon boy sucked
NEPTUNE'S BEARD
Stay liquid, minnows!
my favorite scene is watching Death stroke beat the shit out of him with no effort behind it.
Fairy Titania At first I thought you meant Aqualad I was like "How dare you!!" then I thought of lagoon boy "oh yeah forgot he existed"
YJ SEASON 1 better than season 2 it’s just the team was smaller and had more chemistry
Second season was convoluted as hell. The timeskip really fucked things up.
Second season was convoluted as hell. The timeskip really fucked things up.
Wario wuzo very true
They need to up the animation back to this glad the shows back tho‼️
**DC version of Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader**
This execution was brilliant and looking back at moments of him trying to communicate with Nightwing and the others while in character was amazing
2:00 man, he looks so badass slowly emerging from the depths of the ocean
1:02 my yearbook quote
He was always my favorite
It made a lot of sense for him to be evil, so honestly, it’s amazing that he didn’t turn bad, his best friend gained the love of the girl of his dreams, Aquaman lied to him about the fact his father was Black Manta, and during one of their missions Tula died(the events of which are shown during a tie-in video game)
Doesn’t Calder remind you of itachi full of sacrifice
Only for the anime fans
So true
Shahib yes.
Shahib Don’t mean to correct the name spelling but it’s actually Kaldur. Full name: Kaldur’ahm.
At least Kaldur got the privilege of returning to honesty.
@Arthur Pilgram nor a get a nasty disease like Itachi.
Hid the identity of his father. There's like 10 black atlanteans in Atlantis, a bit of deduction would solve his problem real quick.
Even Though We Found Out That Black Manta Is His Biological Father Kaldur Is Still And Always Will Be One Of My Characters And Members Of The Original Team
Got to meet Khary Payton a few weeks ago and he signed my copy of the origins of cyborg
