Christopher Boucher The society is seemed like a joke every now and then to the justice league, the light didn’t even exist in the justice leagues radar until they were all mind controlled too... the light just does a damn good job at looking bad ass and keeping their rep, while the society is the other way around, it has a lot of members but 25% of them are canon fodder and make an embarrassment to the society when they encounter the justice league, in the comics were the justice league is against the society it’s VERY favored towards the good guys tbh, that’s why I love the light, it’s different, they actually used strategy to get the upper hand and are constantly in the shadows which is what you would need to do if you are trying to take an organization bigger then you down, like the justice league
The Force I don’t disagree with you. I think the Light is super badass given the fact that they’re not incompetent and very well written. I’m just saying that the secrets society of super villains is what they would be called in the comics. But I like the Light more given that they don’t act like cliche super villains but act as an organization with an agenda rather that thinks of the justice league as beneath them
1st Season plot, small group of evil/bad guys and girl plotting to take over the Earth with a small group of young or younger heroes working to stop them. 2nd season plot, small group of evil/bad guys and girl plotting to take over the Earth with a small group of young or younger heroes working to stop them. 3rd season plot, small group of evil/bad guys and girl plotting to take over the Earth with a small group of young or younger heroes working to stop them. 4th season plot, small group of evil/bad guys and girl plotting to take over the Earth with a small group of young or younger heroes working to stop them. Started off interesting, then got bad, then got badder, then got even badder till finally it was a waste of all that time and money to make. The whole Light scheming and controlling everyone and everything got boring 2 seasons ago which is when they should have been defeated, killed or arrested. I want something more original and realistic now please?!
I always liked this about the light. Even when they clearly lost, they always have something over the hero’s that makes their loss worth it. Even the team taking them down has its upsides, as they alter their plans to better fit around new players, and over time considered the Team bigger and bigger threats. Their manipulation and reach is also impressive, being able to get so many…eccentric characters on their side has to be exhausting. I also like the puns. Awesome stuff
A lot of those "loses" are not actually loses. Their objectives armt usually whats shown in the mission, theyre usually smaller objectives like "test delivery system" or "move our piece here" they do take loses but for them its not usually the end of the world. It isnt until like season 4 that their big plans start to actually be thwarted.
@@brianlowe904 yeah that’s basically what I meant. The delivery system for Sphere/Boom Tubes, Blockbuster and later Kobra-Venom’s effectiveness as a strength enhancer, Dr Roeket’s Fog robots to steal data. Etc etc.
Heroes: "I destroyed your robots, kept the key of Doom out of your clutches, and ruined literally all your shit." Villains: "uh... just as I intended!" Heroes: "Oh for fuck's sake."
That always made me chuckle Heroes: "Hey, we destroyed the things which were very important to your plans" Villains: "Everything is going exactly as we intended" But i lowkey liked how they weren't that bothered by it or threw that much of an outburst (well most of them). You don't usually really see villain's staying clam when the things get destroyed, but i do admire Villain's who actually try to learn from the mistakes and even adapt to the situations.
That is a massive oversimplification. They have more than one plan in case their first plan doesn´t work and Light´s plans are longer reaching than one single event or end goal. Their plans always serves one single and unending purpose. Making human race stronger through hardship. How they reach that goal is in constantly changing to conditions they are in.
As far as i know the light has only been in one continuity of dc comics and this makes people not realize this is the most dangerous villain group in history
@@michealmahmoud6391 those third rate hucksters have nothing on The Light tbh.. the scope &effectiveness of this Supervillain Illuminati is like nothing ive ever seen in comics &hopefully a smaller more impactful five member iteration can now come from the unfortunate DC sof reboot currently happening Vandal Savage - Idris Elba/Dave Bautista Luthor - Jesse Eisenberg/Michael C Hall Circe - Marie Avgeropoulos Ras Al Ghul - Mahmoud Gassan/Benicio Del Toro Orm - Pat Wilson
As soon as the monitors showed up, I thought the Council of 13 were about to scold Desmond........Now I strangely want to see the Sovereign VS Vandal Savage.
When I first saw the silhouettes for the light members, couldn't figure th our but listening to them and looking back, it was kind of easy to figure out who was who.
Same. The only ones I figured out before the reveal was Ra's al Ghul, Lex Luthor, and Queen Bee. Had no clue about Vandal Savage, Oceanmaster (who I had not really heard much about when I first watched it), The Brain, or Klarion (who is the only Light Board member you could not have figured out before the reveal as he never talked at the Light meetings).
The thing that didn't really jive with me is Ra's working with this group. He's never been a big team player, and his interests lie in more nihilistic patterns. He's not all that interested in taking over the world, but more about burning down everything and replacing it.
@@AVClarke 1:ra's is an immortal just like vandal savage/strength in numbers. 2:the whole point of the light is gathering Every villain imaginable! 3:you seriously think a guy with ra's kind of experience would say no to an offer like this? 4:yeah whipping out humanity and restarting it, but the light have better chance.
That conversation between Lex Luthor and Conner Kent is one of the best scenes I've ever watched in all comic Medium. I cant tell if its manipulation or just him speaking to him as a father. and I think something that really separates DC from Marvel is that the Villians and the Heroes have alot more of a moral grey area of dealing with things than Marvel superheroes. This kid show follows in the steps of The Legendary DCAU Batman,Superman, and Justice League series.
Well every villain in the light is almost completely black lol, the only gray one could be argued to be Vandal Savage who sees the light as a means to prepare Earth for Darkseid and Apokolips.
God this is the most dangerous and best animated supervillain team of all time no wonder their the top villains. Just having the best version of Vandal Savage EVER plus with the other members make sense of joining his team there goals are one in the same especially Ra's al Ghul, Lex Luthor, and Oceanmaster hell all of them are perfect examples except Black Manta who should have been an enforcer like Sportsmaster and Deathstroke not a full member of the Light just Oceanmaster being ousted for no reason and no explanation of what happened was stupid in my opinion (plus keeping Speedy alive was dumb as well and that he was in the Megafreezer at Cadmus this entire time when Superboy was in that EXACT SAME FREEZER NOT 4 EPISODES AGO). Their plans as well holy shit these fuckers mindcontrolled the JL, cloned Speedy without the JL realizing for 3 YEARS, plus getting aliens as bait my god this is the most sophisticated and calculating planning that ever happened in Dc makes this group fucking more dangerous than any other animated secret society of supervillains potrayed.
It is I Bling Bling Boy . I don’t think it was bad writing so much as that Oceanmaster didn’t really serve any purpose in the whole story except as filler. Black Manta on the other hand as Kaldur’s father was a better motivation to keep him in the spotlight of the Light
Ocean master was an incompetent ass who let his hatred of aquaman rule him.. Manta was cold efficient &got shit done. Even at the cost of his own son. The only way anyone could think he should be an enforcer is.. well.. yeh.. the obvious 🤨

After Vandal gave His Speech I would of Joined The Light immediately as a double Agent. Furthermore Vandal Had the Opportunity to Clone The Justice League and bring them Completely under the Light's Control. From there he really could of secured his hold on earth.
@@aderose one problem there Doom works _with_ nobody. He'd likely only do this sort of thing if he were completely in charge, every other villain working _for_ him
I’m so glad people love The Light and Vandal Savage (happy they went in depth w his character) , this fandom is like the only good one I know; we don’t talk about the joker tho. I love how Klarion is also a character that is included more and they made him extremely powerful (I fully believe he also has one of the highest body counts in the terms of kills like Vandal)
It gets into the literal (albeit science fictional) territory in season two with the plot about the "meta-gene". They say it's in some humans and near-death experiences activate it. This all means that, in the story, if Superman didn't save Joe Schmo carrying the meta-gene from a natural disaster, like a hyper-cane, Joe Schmo could wind up with super powers like Black Lightning and other people without the meta-gene would die in that storm. That's how it ties into evolution.
It has more broad implications then just that. If you look at an ecosystem predators such as wolves are neccessary to keep the deer population at bay and allow the eco system to prosper. Because more people are being saved from disasters and crime there is a larger human population and in Vandal's eyes they are also weaker for not adapting to and growing from the tragedies. The superheros by saving lives are preventing what Vandal considers necessary. He believes that of the fittest survive then Earth can be stronger. This is not just about the meta gene though that does play a huge part in his plans as demonstrated by season 3.
0:30: I’ve just noticed Dr Desmond is Rene Auberjoinos (Odo from DS9). Yet another Star Trek actor in a Greg Weisman production. Gargoyles had Jonathan Frakes (Riker) as Xanatos, Marina Sirtis (Troi) as Demona, Brent Spiner (Data) as Puck, LeVar Burton (Geordi) in one episode as Anansi, the African spider god, Kate Mulgrew (Janeway) as Fox’s mom/Queen Titania, and Michael Dorn (Worf) as both Coldstone and Taurus and Spiner and Sirtis return for Young Justice as Joker and Queen Bee, respectively.
"Fittest" is just a conjugation that can hold the same variety of meanings as "fit". Savage didn't say anything about power, he meant that The League is removing too many evolutionary pressures (both actual and figurative; figurative as in the kinds of things that get people to change within their own individual lifetimes) from humanity with all of their saving-styled heroics.
Any world where savage removed the Justice League was for his personal gain and power. His philosophy on humanity as a naturally evolving species has some merit. Technically he would have to kill himself as well because even though he’s human, he has immortality, enhanced strength, high intelligence. If “fit” categorizes humanity into being adaptable, then he is not fit and a threat to humanity as an adapting evolutionary species. On a side note, still one of the greatest villains in DC to me.
Fit would then also need to include better ways of working together considering humanity came this far due to communication and social interaction to collect and spread knowledge.
Here is my idea of a Marvel version of the Light: The Council: - Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom: Scientific and technological advancements - Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto: Mutant and superhuman affairs - Loki Laufeyson: Magical expertise - Norman Osborn/Green Goblin: Criminal network and political influence - Xu Wenwu/The Mandarin: Extraterrestrial studies - Thaddeus Ross/Red Hulk: Military - Ophelia Sarkissian/Viper: Terrorism - Samuel Sterns/The Leader (formerly): Intelligence - Karl Morgenthau (formerly) - Parker Robbins/The Hood (formerly) Enforcers: - Anthony Masters/Taskmaster - Aaron Davis/Prowler (formerly) - Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (formerly) - Killmonger (formerly) - Cletus Kasady/Carnage (formerly) Partners: - The Order (led by Thanos) - Kree Empire (led by Empress Hala) - Richard Fisk/Kingpin - Justin Hammer Sub-organizations: - The Brotherhood (represented by Magneto) - Oscorp (represented by Green Goblin) - The Ten Rings (represented by The Mandarin) - Hydra (represented by Viper) - AIM - HAMMER (formerly) Agents: - Mac Gargan/Venom - Raven Darkholme/Mystique - Anton Vanko/Whiplash - Samuel Sterns/The Leader - Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch - Brock Rumlow/Crossbones - Bentley Wittman/The Wizard - Roderick Kingsley/Hobgoblin - Ulysses Klaw - Executioner - Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven the Hunter - Many more
@@bigshadow847 I feel like the Marvel version of Light (AKA the Council) would work together to stop threats to their power like Apocalypse. Man No wonder why Batman did what he did in Outsiders, trying to beat them with their tactics, their own game, not justifying but I can see the frustration of completing your duty as a hero mean while the villains get a step ahead either on their victory or loss 😯😥😣

The animation budget and quality changed. They had all of those moments where it is still pictures instead of moving. Not to mention a different source of animators. Many of the character animations used were from new 52 movies including Lex Luthor, Batman, Deathstroke, and Vandal Savage (his face is more similar to Hell to Pay) to name a few.
@ The darkness was not a big issue for me (I don't have any kids who watched the first 2 season so that is probably why). But I do agree that it felt very experimental and less polished than the previous seasons. Still great television but not as good as it should have been.
This organization is the Xanatos Gambit taken to its logical extreme. Not just an individual, but a GROUP of masterminds who plan around everything so that, no matter the outcome, they benefit in the long run.
@@jordanvance1657 A trope in fiction where, no matter what happens, the antagonist benefits in some way. It was named after the character David Xanatos from the show “Gargoyles”, who was a tactical genius. When it seemed that his plans were foiled by the heroes, it’s revealed at the end that he had two or three counter plans running at the exact same time to ensure victory on some front.
Mondoblasto0 - That’s Greg Weisman for you. He had the entire main cast of Next Generation (except Picard and the Crushers) as voices all throughout Gargoyles.
@@affirmingtoe15 Evolution isn't a thing you can resist, stop, or protect yourself from. It's not a natural event, like a meteor strike, or a political movement, like a revolution. Evolution is like gravity. It's simply a law of reality. Just because planes fly doesn't mean they're actually defying gravity, because you *can't* defy gravity. In the same way, just because the Justice League protect humanity from disasters doesn't mean they're defying evolution. Evolution is a simple logical conceit. A. Genetics are heritable. B. Some sets of genetics make reproduction more likely than other sets of genetics, though it does depend on the circumstances. 1.1. Genetics which increase the chance of reproduction will become more prominent over time. 1.2. This is evolution.
There's also the fact that Social Darwinism is bullshit and has been demonstrated to be bullshit by the scientific community time and time again, or the fact that evolution isn't a moral judgement, but a statement of fact. It's not good or bad, it just *is.*
I think the Light was reduced when it needed to be. Them always getting a win from whatever the heroes did would really start to get old if they were the main enemy in every season. It was starting to push it as it was.
@@madchatter4032 It's just like in Gargoyles where Xanatos was gradually phased out as the main villain, since the Light were heavily based on that style of villain. Eventually you start to run out of ways for the villains to "lose" and still win without the story starting to fall apart.
Evolution is a series of mutations that permeates throughout the species. The dying out & implied reproduction makes what I described evolution; mutation would be the change by itself. It's partially my fault, since I could have given another example that doesn't require the meta-gene & outright states the death and repopulation, but it'd have been a pretty mundane thing that most people would just ignore due to how little impact it'd make in the short run. It's weird to make bad guys look bad?
I tried to find the Light background music that hears during this meetings in the "Young Justice: Music from the DC Comics Animated Television Series" but I couldn't found it does anyone knows the name of the track?
Actually they have gotten new tech though it is not necessarily from Apokolips. They developed the Starro tech, got some tech from the Reach, and of course the ultimate prize, the Warworld.
Marvel version of the light MEMBERS: Vandal Savage: Dr Doom Ra's al Ghul: Red Skull Lex Luthor: Norman Osborn or Kingpin Queen Bee: Magneto Ocean Master: loki The brain: Modok Klarion: Baron Modo ENFORCER: Taskmaster, Enchantress, Mystique or Baron Zemo
@@jordanvance1657 In fact, in the Act of Vengeance Storyline, Loki has recruited some of the best villains in the Marvel Universe and trying formed his own Masters of Evil Loki recruited Red Skull, basically a Nazi, and 5 of the villains did not like the idea of Loki recruiting a Nazi because Magneto is a Jewish Holocaust Survivor, Doctor Doom is Romani decent, Kingpin is a Capitalist but hates bigotry, Mandarin who is Chinese, and finally, Wizard who has nothing to deal with the Red Skull and no ideology just because they are Villains but most of Villains standards.
I think most YJ fans don’t understand the magnitude of the lights strength & power. One of the most powerful beings on the earth. Vandal Savage. 50,000 years old with all knowledge of human history & a vast amount of wealth equal to Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor Ra’s Al Ghul, a 600 year old being with the access to resurrection. A cult base of highly skilled warriors that can overthrow an entire nation Lex Luthor, iconic businessman & now in season 3. Elite official of the United Nations. A position that’s regarded higher than the President of the USA in some cases. The man who’s specialized in making the impossible happen Queen Bee, a powerful dictator that can sway any man or some women into submission to her rule. A country that can be utilized for all criminal means with impunity. Due to as a dictator, whatever she commands is law without objection. Ocean Master/Black Manta, men who have extreme political rule or influence to take over the 7 seas. Control the ocean is ruling essentially the world! Klarion, an overpowered lord of chaos. Not something or man or alien. Klarion can command any form of magic, this entity can re-write reality if he chooses too. The Brain, has control over the wildlife. Building a potential animal army is purely terrifying to the masses without a Justice league.
The funny thing is even as far as season 3 their greatest victory is just ramping up to defeat them. All their efforts to advance humanity by exploiting the meta gene has given them only more enemies to deal with. Really hope we get to see something as crazy as the top villains team up to assist the JL and YJ in defeating Darkseid and taking over Apokalypse. As cool as Darkseid is, this should have always ended with the heroes fighting their own planet's villains.
Wrong universe and despite his gruff anti hero attitude, either the exception of a few bad ideas like Scorpion and the Spider Slayers he is not a bad guy.

Villains: "Everything is going exactly as we intended"
But i lowkey liked how they weren't that bothered by it or threw that much of an outburst (well most of them).

Knowing Lex Luthor, it's probably both
Well every villain in the light is almost completely black lol, the only gray one could be argued to be Vandal Savage who sees the light as a means to prepare Earth for Darkseid and Apokolips.

I love how Klarion is also a character that is included more and they made him extremely powerful (I fully believe he also has one of the highest body counts in the terms of kills like Vandal)
The Gargoyles fandom is terrific.
And he kills Vandal 300 different ways.
The voice acting is top tier.
Man, Xehanort wasnt kidding about getting help from his past selves
Scariest and coolest secret society in my animation history.
Apparently darwin's meaning " survival of the fittest" meant survival of the most flexible/adaptable, not dog eat dog.
@@locustking6433 Survival of those who are most adapted.

@@affirmingtoe15 Evolution isn't a thing you can resist, stop, or protect yourself from. It's not a natural event, like a meteor strike, or a political movement, like a revolution.

Lex Luthor, iconic businessman & now in season 3. Elite official of the United Nations. A position that’s regarded higher than the President of the USA in some cases. The man who’s specialized in making the impossible happen
Queen Bee, a powerful dictator that can sway any man or some women into submission to her rule. A country that can be utilized for all criminal means with impunity. Due to as a dictator, whatever she commands is law without objection.
Ocean Master/Black Manta, men who have extreme political rule or influence to take over the 7 seas. Control the ocean is ruling essentially the world!

If I joined the Faction, I would work as a double agent, working both sides as a Hero and a Villain to take down the most significant threats that will invade Earth.

If there was a marvel equivalent it would be
Vandal Savage: The Mandarin
Lex Luther: Norman Osborne
Queen Bee: Magneto
Klarion: Baron Morto, Mephisto, or Loki
Ra’s Al Ghul: Baron Zemo
The Brain: MODOK
Ocean Master: Killmonger or M’baku
Enforcer: Taskmaster, Crossbones, Bullseye, Mystique
Associates: Dr. Octopus, AIM, Hydra, Ten Rings
Galactic Partner: Thanos
If only these villains wouldn’t fall under the trope of turning on eachother unlike these guys
I feel Wenwu, being the oldest human, would make the most sense as Vandals place. Especially since his ten rings in both the comics and MCU have alien origins could give him a sense of the greater galactic community compared to anyone else on the list. Plus he would of had centuries to build up contacts with everyone and being the longest lived human could give him the patience that Vandal Savage has.
Vandal Savage: Everyone sees the light.
6:34 damn lucky boy!!
DIDN'T KNOW THAT BRUCE BANNER HAD A PONY TAIL!!!
Oh yeah, he's in DC too...
Dr. Mark Desmond. Well speaking of Bruce Banner he can kick Desmond's ass.
That little alien dude looked like Vilgax
Holy moly, that’s Rene’
So crazy how the entire DC animated Series is Canon with each other.
This one has it's own unique Canon. You are mixing this up with DCAU: Batman the Animated Series, Superman Aninated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Static Shock, and Batman Beyond. This show does not share a continuity with them.
Take a shot every time a failure is all according to plan.
They really should have shown more of the Brain.
I know, right? Hopefully in season 4 the Doom Patrol will make an appearance.
The doom patrol are dead except for mento
HE HAS GIVEN YOU YOUR SUPER POWERS SUPER BOY!
And how that made my head spin before I got it.
