I find it sad and funny that you could just fish up the scientist showing how far his intelligence devolved to fall for the bait and get captured by the same fisherman whom he sent to get the specimens beforehand
Yep. He - it - being basically a new abberant created mere minutes ago, has only question marks on its encyclopedia article, but if you go fully insane you can mouse over it to see that, it is another failed attempt of a vessel too small, having tried to hold a piece of something far too mighty and old...
To me he kinda looks like the leviatan, perhaps he was trying to change into that, it is hard to say what leviatan was trying to do in the iron rig, he helped when rig was about to be completly destroyed, by the "atrament" squid, but he did sink ironheaven ships, perhaps scientist wanted to be something that can challange leviatan, or perhaps help him, or they are not so similar as it apears to me, interesting fact that i noticed is that ironheaven wrecs are all close to islands, it is obviousely, so player can navigate there easier, and so the wrec is visible in shallow water, but maybe in lore explenation is leviatan sinking ships close to land as he does not want anyone to sink, just rezource transport to stop, unlikely cuz in good ending he eats u
You also can't sell him. it's fitting for both the endings, too, either being one of the first to witness Cthulu's arrival or meeting the same fate as the fisherman.
WHAAAAAAAT YOU CAN **CATCH** the scientist after he jumps out!??! That's some attention to detail, I just finished the DLC and never would've thought to do that! Props to the game designers. Absolute PROPS!!

If you count ancient records, there's also that one obelisk at devil's spine where it tells of a past moment where the Leviathan just... extends from the water, all the way towards the top ancient Lighthouse (back when it was still whole and lit), and makes a satisfied noise while gazing upon it. It's always been amicable to artificial efforts that also oppose the darkness below, it's just finding it difficult - or more likely, it doesn't bother - to communicate this... preference to little humans like us.
@@Theology.101the leviathan probably does not care what you or the fishermen wanted as its main goal is to stop the madness that lurks under the sea but thats just my opinion
Usually have the scenario being "they pissed off the creature" or "the creature pay them a visit" Or there is no creature, and it about the isolation from land, impossibility to escape without proper setup, stuck on a man-made island create for the purpose of extracting subterranean resource. Either way, staying too long on oil rig is definitely not good for you.
I always thought a good location setting for a theoretical spiritual sequel to Carpenter's The Thing was an oil rig in the ocean. The level of isolation and crisis-management is right on point! I'm really glad this setting is getting explored more in horror media
The ending was honestly so underwhelming, I wish we got a way to defend ourself instead of just running away! The cracks had such missed potential, maybe they could've spawned stronger monsters?
@@jaidenkoch3487 yeah, but only one can "scare" you unexpectedly, one is just a reskin of another enemy (Tentacle) and one is just a nuisance, all found in one place
I think the intention is that you play this and The Pale Reach alongside the main story. Having suddenly stronger monster all around the play area would mess with the main game's pacing (which is fantastic). I do hold out hope for something of this nature in the future. While Pale Reach was, while good, a bit iffy and short imo. The Rig is a step up from the previous DLC. Still a bit short, but heavy in lore and QoL stuff. @@bloodrage96 I REALLY hope we get a "best" ending where we find a way to like... SEAL the entity or otherwise purify the book of the deep. And the light from the lighthouse seem to have kept the deep at bay as the Levi even sung to it happily. MAYBE even the flame of sky WILL be important later. Leviathan being a protective being seems reasonable, like it's preventing you to not get out of the map because the fisherman is carrying the book of the deep and if he were to traverse far from Leviatan's reach, god knows what catastrophe he might unleashes.
Excuse me, player of Dredge here. It the first package from the Mayor is probably just a regular wrapped fish or something, because the second package you can deliver first and the dock worker then becomes a husk, and when you deliver the package from the mayor, well, the dock worker just stands and holds it I think.
I loved dredge but honestly I just want a new game where I can start with a new boat, not just a new level. The hustle is what makes the game addictive
Iron Rig theme seems to be more about man pushing too far into what they shouldn't mettle with while the Pale Reach's is forces unknown actively using humans to further their own goals. You can see it in the rewards for each DLC too, as Pale Reach has the anchor, the trawling net that's in line with the stuff you get from the shrines, and the book that increases aberration chances. Meanwhile Iron Rig is all about "manmade equipment, but better than the average stuff." Other than the bait, which of course is better than what the airman makes for you, the only long term useful item is the tea.
